US998 Hidden Menu LG V30/V30+
So, I went looking for the hidden menu dialer code for the US998 LG V30.
https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/75tbsc/lg_v30_and_others_engineering_menu/
*#546368#*998#
That's a different menu, and doesn't provide the band locking option and you can break your CA and LTE combos if click the wrong thing. Just wondering if that code works. You can get to the Engineering Mode, though.

Click to collapse
Found it. Literally you copy and paste this code into your dialer. Do not hit "call". Once you paste it in, the menu instantly pops up.
Unlike for the T-mobile variant, it doesn't let you checkmark off all the bands you want -- at least with AT&T Prepaid, which I have. I think the bands it shows it dependent upon the SIM card you have in your phone.
I was able to click each LTE band my phone IS showing and with one exception (LTE band 30), a box popped up and "Success". Whatever that means.
I think if I had AT&T postpaid it might show more bands. (AT&T Prepaid doesn't allow domestic roaming, but does have roaming in some other countries.) Or if I had T-mobile it might show different bands, like even LTE band 66. Since I have AT&T Prepaid -- with no U.S. roaming -- it's not going to show me a band I'll never use? At least that's my working theory. While the dialer code is the same, possibly options are different depending carrier/SIM card[/B]
You can also go into the Service Menu and turn off MOISTURE DETECTION. Just an FYI for those who need to know that.
I did go into the some of the VoLTE/Wi-Fi calling settings. While VoLTE was already enabled, VoWifi (Wi-Fi calling was not). I enabled it. As an AT&T Prepaid customer, we don't get that yet, and I don't really need it. (I have Google Voice.) But I checkmarked it to enable all that. Didn't seem to break my phone.
I took some screenshots to get into the LTE bands menu, but I didn't take screenshots of the other stuff. Of course, be careful! You can break functionality.

LTE BANDS on AT&T Prepaid
Okay anybody know how to get the LTE band selector back to automatic? Apparently clicking on one of the bands chooses only that band. I am stuck on band 12 which is prevalent in the Atlanta area, but I would like all bands.
By clicking on band 30, I had no LTE whatsoever . I had to click on band 12 to get some LTE signal.
In that menu, I do not see a method to choose a batch of bands. I only see a method to choose one band at a time. Whereas before I mess with the menu I had several bands automatically depending upon signal strength.
I rebooted my phone, hoping the band selector was only for that one session . But still I'm only seeing LTE band 12. I don't want to reset my phone. This got to be away to make it go back to automatic.

Whatever I just did, now I can get other LTE bands. I'm now on LTE band 2.
But I didn't choose LTE band 2, it just found the strongest signal. Whew.
Thought I was going to have to reset my phone.

Funny, i did the same thing this morning when playing with the menus. I thought it was a checkbox and saw a 'SUCCESS' toast show up on clicking. Oh no , what have I done.
I rebooted the phone and everything seems to be back to normal.
A slightly different code for the AT&T version of V30
The code didn't work on my AT&T version, BUT!!!!!! ........ I noticed how the last 3 digits correspond to the unlocked version and substituted them with 931 which corresponds to H931/AT&T phone version and voila!! I get into the hidden menu.
So for AT&T version of V30 the code is *#546368#*931#
Enjoy!
The menu looks a bit different though e.g. band selection is not there

I'm still concerned I may have done something to prevent my LTE bands from automatically switching properly. I've been on LTE Band 2 for two days now and only LTE band 2. Normally traveling to and from work (30 miles down I-75 and across I-285 perimeter) I'll switch bands, according to LTE Discovery app.
But today I'm heading into north Georgia where LTE band 4 is prevalent, so we'll see...
reposting here also as it's very relevant to the US998 hidden menu.

Hey All,
I unfortunately messed around with the LTE Band Settings on my US 998 (US Cellular) in the hidden menu and am now worried that the phone is locking to specific bands. Right now, no matter how many times I reset network settings and restart the phone, it will only lock to one band (12 or 4). The lock is dependent on which LTE Band Setting I select. Anyone know where in the hidden menu I can reset the band selection? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Please tell me exactly what you did to fix the problem? When you factory re-set, did you allow Google to restore your data and apps? I really don't want to do a factory reset if I don't have to.
I've already tried airplane mode, as well as chosen other bands (I stick on them unless I re-select LTE band 2.) As well as rebooted multiple times daily.
I've been stuck on LTE band 2 for 4 days now. I selected LTE bands in that hidden menu and it stays only on the one chosen. Before that I was stuck on LTE band 12, but 2 is better than 12 if I have to be stuck on one.

Unfortunately that doesn't help. It's the US998 menu. You click it, it chooses that band. You click another it chooses THAT band and only that band. It stays in the last band you chose and only that band.
I can select another band besides band 2, but I would then be just choosing another band to be stuck on. I did that initially when I was stuck on band 12. Now I'm stuck on band 2, which is better than being stuck on LTE band 12 in the Atlanta metro area.
I went up to North Georgia last weekend where AT&T LTE band 4 is prevalent, and I was on WEAK LTE band 2 the most of the time, and then on HSPA. I never switched to LTE band 4.
That's why I asked the guy exactly what he did to fix it. He said factory reset, but I would like his details. I don't want to completely reset my phone for nothing. If only a true factory reset will fix it, I'll wait until next weekend when I don't need my phone during the daytime.
Also, did he allow Google to restore data and apps?

Has anyone found a solution to this? I have tried a factory reset and it did not solve the issue. I also tried a couple things such as changing the RAT Selection to WCDMA ONLY (since VZW) and then LTE ONLY and then to LTE/WCDMA but that results in no service at all whereas I at least have service with WCDMA ONLY or LTE ONLY.
I imagine there should be a simple way to fix this as it is literally just disabling bands in the modem...it is just a matter of figuring out how.
same issue here. anyone succeeded in restoring the default settings? weird hidden menu on this Phone and keeps me frustrated...

Hey Chazz, sorry for the delay. I have notifications turned off. But yes, I had to do a factory reset from scratch. I didn't restore any settings and started with a clean slate. I then used LTE discovery to see myself connecting to different bands. Toggling airplane mode showed band 4 and 12.

Thanks for the answer. The V30 with the problem is now my backup phone, as I'm using a V30+ as daily phone. I didn't dare touch this menu on that one or my wife's V30.
I have reset that first phone, but it no longer has a SIM card in it. Maybe next weekend I take it for a drive...

Yeah, the US998 needs the T-Mobile hidden menu, where you can select all the bands you wish, not just one at a time. Very strange design choice from LG.
There is an option in the hidden menu to reset networks. Did you see that? Maybe that's what needs to be chosen?

Hmmm... very strange. I know I saw something before, but I can't find exactly what I remember.
Anyway, I see the R&D Factory Reset in the Hidden Menu. Is that some kind of super duper re-set? I don't know. It's in the Hidden Menu for a reason.
I also see Network Settings Reset in the the regular Settings menu. I don't have a SIM card in this phone, but if I did would it re-set ALL my network settings?

I think the Network Settings Reset in the regular settings menu is already covered by the factory data reset. Thanks for getting back to us though. I'm not entirely sure if Factory Data Reset worked for me or not. T-Mobile around where I live is mostly Band 4. I've looked through cellmapper for towers that had band 2 and were spotted recently, and as I drove by them I didn't notice my phone connecting to anything other than band 4.

Anybody know if there's a way to turn on advanced hd voice calling in this menu? Under phone settings the option is greyed out for me and appears to be off

This may work on other devices and carriers having this same issue. And know were your phone was made to help others. Look under your battery to find were it was made
I started this thread cause over the past 2 years their has been speculation that it's the sgh-i317 made in Korea that's not getting LTE out of the box. I tried everything. Changing my imei, nv items, roms, modems, etc...
Turns out that I successfully was able to get LTE a 1 1/2 - 2 years ago but really didn't know exactly how I did it. I was helping @Trash213 and rediscovered what I had done. Turns out It's a provisioning error that happens when the sim is placed in that phone for the first time and messes up that line forever. Asking T-Mobile to refresh the provisions does not help but they may give you a free sim.
DO NOT PUT THE SIM CARD IN YOUR PHONE FIRST
The Sim card must first be installed into another
T-Mobile LTE device or registered on one
First thing you need to do, is put your note 2 in LTE all by dialing *#2263# and selecting lte band prefrance then selecting lte all.
Get a new T-Mobile Sim Card.
Or put your Sim card in another t mobile lte device and dial *#2263# select lte band preference and then select lte all. Hit home button got to settings more networks change default operater to manual. Then select t mobile to register it. Don't forget to change the band prefrance back to automatic. It's the first choice in *#2263# menu. If you are successful at fixing your Sim card you may skip the next step.
Once the T-Mobile phone boots go to
settings, about, status.
When you see your phone number ( you may have to reboot or make a phone call ) you can then power off the device and remove the sim card.
Put the sim card in the Korean made sgh-i317 and if you are in a strong LTE area it should come up first next to your signal bars.
If still no lte then hit home button go to settings more networks change default operater to manual. Then select t mobile to register it.
Check that you are getting LTE either by looking at the signal bars or by going to settings, about, status.
Once you see that you are getting LTE go back to phone dialer and type *#2263# and select automatic.

I'm going to try this later on today. I'll get back to you with the results. There's a new T-Mobile store down the Street from where I live.
Thanks for the hint, and I tried that. However, when I select "LTE ALL", my phone shows "Unknown" under "Mobile Network Type" of the Device Status.
T Mobile just upgrades their LTE my area, and currently the 4G/LTE is very strong in my T Mobile S5 phone.
AT&T unlocked my SGH-i317 Note II last year after my contract ended. Therefore, I want to use with TMobile, but I can only connect up to 4G.

I don't understand this part when I select 2 to erase the EFS the backup gets deleted too so option 4: Restore is not available so skipping that part I just restored the backup I did with the program which doesn't make the phone reboot so I did it manually and at this point I'm left back at the start as I just made a circle. Restoring the provided file and rebooting phone leaves me with an unknown IMEI. #06# displays " / 11" and a signal of UMTS still. At this point going into the service menu and selecting LTE ALL disables my data and puts me on an Unknown network that I cannot do anything on, when I manually search for a network I get T-Mobile; 311660; AT&T; Verizon and selecting T-Mobile just says Unable to connect. Try later. Switching the band selection back to automatic phones goes back onto UMTS like I did nothing (other than make my IMEI null)

The sim card has already told t Mobile it's a 4G only device. Which is why I started this thread. But I was able to fix the problem with the sim card by putting in another tmobile lte device then back to mine. Instead of replacing it. Try this and let me know how it goes .
I have the note 4 now and my wife kept the note 2 i317.
that phone I have at imei 0/ unknown and 4..4.2 Modem and
conch rebublic 4.3 and the sim would switch to 4G with the original imei. And when ever I put it in someone's phone it would only get 4g. So I registered it on another tmobile lte device and put the sim back in my phone registered it and lte worked.
I was able to fix sim with above steps.
One of the good things about the gs6 is the ability to for b12 and even better ability to choose preferred band in automatic mode.
Does the m9 have some sort of ability like that?
You are talking about the WIFI channel 12 (which is illegal to put your WIFI on in the US)?
Actually I think he is talking about forcing a specific LTE band... (in this case LTE Band 12 which I think is for T-Mobile). Specifically accessing the LTE Band service menu.
For any Samsung device you would enter *#2263# and the "LTE Band" service menu would open up and you can force a specific band. IF this is what he is talking about, it’s actually a great feature because you can "lock in" LTE to a specific band, I use to do this all the time in the Philippines so I wouldn't get kicked off the LTE band. You can also see what LTE bands the phone supports.
When I had the M9, I looked everywhere and tried to find the code to access the LTE menu but I was unsuccessful. Maybe someone here has the code to access the LTE service Band menu. There were some generic codes that work for Google in general BUT none of them worked on the M9.

But yes LTE band 12
##DATA# on Sprint lets you do something like this, but I believe that code is Sprint-specific.
I may be trading my Verizon G4 for a T-Mobile H811 but before I go through the trouble I'd like to see if my problem can be fixed.
My network options are:
Global no sub-network menu
LTE/CDMA also no sub menu
LTE/GSM/UMTS with sub menu options LTE/Legacy 3GPP multi, GSM/GPRS/EDGE only, and UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ only and the option to choose network operators.
When I choose LTE/CDMA I get 4g LTE all the time, great speeds, but am unable to send texts, not sure about calls(don't use the phone much for calls)
If I choose Global I get intermittent LTE but mostly HSPA or HSPA+. Again texts only work when it switches to H.
If I choose LTE/GSM/UMTS I mostly get HSPA but occasionally it will switch to LTE.
I'm not used to having all these network options to choose from. I've tried a few different APN settings and all give the same results. I'm in a very good LTE coverage area and my G2 always ran on Band 4 LTE which is enabled on my G4 and obviously works in the correct mode based on my speeds 28mbps down, 18mbps up. Plus Verizon LG G2's are able to work correctly on T-Mobile's network and they have the same bands as the G4.
If my phone has the band's enabled to work with T-Mobile, namely band 2 and band 4 LTE, then why can't I always have LTE AND be able to text and call at the same time?
If anybody has an answer to this I'd love to hear it! Otherwise I'm going through with the trade (and trouble of setting my phone back up all over again).

Have you tried to delete the Verizon Apns? I used a Verizon g3 on ATT and had some issues until I cleared all APNs and set new ones up.

My tip to you is don't disable any of the bands. You can enable all you want. I made the mistake of disabling thinking it would force the phone on certain bands. Then went out of town and lost all data. Somehow I remembered the command prompt line to get back into the hidden menu, re-enabled and I at least got edge...

PREREQUISITES:
- US998 only
- Bootloader unlocked
- Rooted
RECOMMENDED:
Full system backup in case you don’t like what you’ve done.
NEED TO KNOW:
Performing these steps will remove the “default” unlocked bands. I have not figured how to get band to default. So insert disclaimer here about me, XDA, LG, and whoever you got your phone from being responsible for your phone.
HOW TO:
1. Go to play store and download “Shortcut Master (Lite):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite
Or support the dev and download the full version:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster
2. Launch Shortcut Master and grant it root access.
3. Select the 3 dot menu and select “Search…”
4. Verify “All apps” are being searched on the left. Click the “Enter text to search” and type in “BandSelection” and select “Search”
5. You should see 5 items in the results. Select the “Hidden Menu com.lge.hiddenmenu.tmo_only.LTEBandSelection”option. In the subsequent popup select “favorite”. In the subsequent menu you can rename the shortcut to whatever you like or keep the default name shown. Select “Add” to complete the favorite selection. You should then be brought back to the 5 item search results.
6. repeat step 5 and select “Hidden Menu com.lge.hiddenmenu.tmo_only.BandSelection” and repeat this step to add it as a favorite. Once done, hit the back menu button and this will return you to your 2 newly created favorite shortcuts.
7. Select the “LTEBandSelection” shortcut (or whatever name you renamed it) to launch the LTE Band Selection app.
8. Click the checkboxes for the bands you desire. Obviously as a TMO’er I would recommend Bands 2, 4, 12, 66, and 71 as these are the bands in use in the US. If you travel overseas you’ll need to select other bands.
9. Click “Save” and you should see a “Save Succeeded” toast if your selections were successful, otherwise you will see “Save Failed”. At a minimum, I believe you need at least 1 LTE band (2, 4, or 12). Additionally, you cannot select the whole shebang of bands as well.
10. At this point you are done and the selected bands will be active. You can verify the selected bands to be active by backing out of the menu back to your favorites, and select “BandSelection”. You should see your selected bands under LTE BAND. WCDMA / GSM should remain as Default unless you decided to mess with it.
Q: How do I get my LTE BAND back to default?
A: Dunno at this point. You figure it out and let us know.
Q: Can I reset everything back to whatever I had originally?
A: Restore that backup! Or factory reset I suppose…
I have yet to personally verify Bands 66 (extension of Band 4) and 71, but I would imagine it should work. You can verify the selected bands using another app like LTE Discovery. It shows you exactly what bands your phone is currently getting. I have confirmed that selecting single bands will only allow you access to that band (i.e you select BAND 2, you only get that band and no others).
THANKS:
@vndnguyen for Shortcut Master
EDIT - Added some screenshots from the app...
EDIT - I verified carrier aggregation goes away if I deselect Band 66 while connected to Band 4.

I'm guessing, but I think it depends on whether the bands are CA bands, or not. Some are dependent on another. For instance with band 66 which is a CA band for band 4. I don't think you can just select 66 without selecting 4.
I'm still experimenting with it and I'll update as I find out more.
EDIT: Band 10 is not available in the tmobile menu. However, I was able to select 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,66,and 71 without issue.

EDIT - I should give you a better answer...I have confirmed that selecting bands in this menu does indeed change the bands that are able to be received by the handset. As I am in the USA and on tmobile, I was only able to confirm bands 2,4,and 12. If I travel about an hour north, I can confirm 71.

I understand what you are asking. It's confirmed this process adds those bands to the LTE bands list, but you are asking for proof if there's actually reception. You would need a T-mobile user with US998 and T-mobile SIM card in an area that has LTE band 66 or the very new LTE band 71.
That proof will come soon...

Although i can't remember exactly off hand. I believe it was posted somewhere that the T-Mobile version actually supported bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 20, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41, 46, 66, and 71.
Would the person confirming this mind testing all of those enabled at once, please and thanks?

Hi guys, I have a T-Mobile V30 and whenever I hit Reset at the bottom of the Band Selection menu, everything goes back to normal. Ie, I've locked to B71 only then hit reset and B2, B4, B71 all connect just fine, and CA where applicable. PS: there is another menu called "LTE Band Selection" and it does not have Reset at the bottom. BE VERY CAREFUL if you encounter this menu, I almost screwed up my phone until I found the "Band Selection" menu.
Since you have root, Network Signal Guru is also another tool to assist in locking bands and or verifying what's activated and deactivated.
If you have any more questions about the V30's engineering menu, Network Signal Guru, or B71 let me know.

But this is NOT the T-mobile H932. This is the US998, rooted. The engineering menus are different. This LTE Band Selection DOES have reset. See it at the bottom of the screenshot?
Whereas, on the non-rooted US998, there is another LTE Selection menu which only allows you to choose one band at a time. Yes, that one can mess you up. But the menu shown in the OP of this thread shows LTE band menu with check boxes, where you can choose whatever bands (plural) you want to enable -- and has re-set.
Also, this thread shows how you can use root to populate MORE bands into that menu.
THIS is EXACTLY what everyone has been begging for -- and as soon as @vinniej or somebody else provides definite proof that LTE bands 66 and 71 are not only chosen but have reception, then there would be no reason to buy a T-mobile V30 H932. The US998 V30 has root and would have all the T-mobile bands.
Thanks for explaining it @ChazzMatt

Are you asking do I have 25 and 26 normally on AT&T? Yes, at least 25. I don't see 26. This is a pre-root screenshot from my V30, posted in another thread., from my AT&T SIM card on AT&T Prepaid.
I have not attempted what's in this thread yet, as it was just posted last night. I only have time on the weekends to actually mess with my phone.
My V30 US998 (not my daily V30+ US998) is rooted, has TWRP and Magisk. But for some reason it didn't recognize my AT&T SIM card, even though that same phone had used the exact same SIM card for WEEKS before I got my V30+. I was going to have either factory reset everything and start over or create an APN from scratch. By this time it was Super Bowl Sunday afternoon... so I put the spare phone away. Right now I'm still using unrooted V30+ as daily driver.

I wasn't suggesting anyone buy a T-Mobile V30. I read the OP and wanted to offer my insight, after having used the menus extensively. I completely understand what you said, you just repeated what I typed essentially so sorry if there was some confusion. I'm not asking for help with my phone, only trying to help you guys.
@vinniej mentioned not knowing how to restore the "default bands" that's why I mentioned the Reset button. But, Network Signal Guru is another tool as well.

I understand you were trying to help. However, your post -- unintentionally -- did cause some confusion, at least in my mind and @vinniej. I know you only meant to help, and I thank you for that. But you have not used the US998 menus extensively (have you?). There are differences in the hidden menus between those models, just as there are differences with the Verizon V30 menus.
Maybe with root, now there's less differences or no differences since we can access "all" menus now? I don't know.
Yes, with root, this "new" LTE Band Selection menu is now like the T-mobile menu discussed and shown in other threads. However, your screenshots are different, probably because you are using an app to access them?
I do not mean to denigrate your contributions in any way, but felt I had to clarify there IS a reset button on this LTE Band Selection menu and you can check off what you want and don't want.
This thread is EXACTLY what everyone has been asking for. All we have to do is confirm there's actually reception on these new bands.
Not sure if it has been addressed, but has anyone here in the states been able to connect to band n41 for 5g on TMobile? Phones says it is 5g ready on TMobile but all I get is 4g+. I had to chat with one of the employees there to give them the new IMEI number so they could switch the phone in my account. When I first put the sim in, it actually told me that the sim card was not accepted since it was a China mainland phone. I almost thought I wasted my money and could not keep the phone. The 5g option was there from the beggining though but I was getting no signal at all. I finally found the network reset option after the employee suggested it and reset the network, restarted the phone and it finally worked. Also voLTE works as well. Up until this phone, I tried a global Mate 40 Pro and MI 11 Ultra and neither of them had that option available. Not sure why.
Also, on this version it doesn't even say the preferred network option. If I go under Mobile Network & Sim 1 that's where it shows 5g and I can toggle it on or off.

Try this: in your phone app dial *#*#4636#*#* and select Phone Info. In that window scroll down to: Set Preferred Network Type and use the drop down arrow to select NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA

Still nothing. 4g only option. When you first started phone/inserted sim, did you get a notification saying to update carrier provisioning? I did but I think that messed up something...
No message when I inserted my SIM, but then I wouldn't expect any carrier specific updates to provision services on my phone as my carrier hasn't certified and doesn't support Vivo phones. Consequently I don't have VoLTE or Wifi Calling toggles in my SIM settings. I do however have the "enable 5G" toggle (and it works because I do connect to 5G) because that setting is baked into the firmware and is not something pushed by the carrier. I don't expect this would make any difference, but you can enable developer options and toggle on VoNR. That is the new voice over 5G technology that is replacing VoLTE (voice over 4G) with some carriers.
