Force band 12 - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

One of the good things about the gs6 is the ability to for b12 and even better ability to choose preferred band in automatic mode.
Does the m9 have some sort of ability like that?

You are talking about the WIFI channel 12 (which is illegal to put your WIFI on in the US)?

Actually I think he is talking about forcing a specific LTE band... (in this case LTE Band 12 which I think is for T-Mobile). Specifically accessing the LTE Band service menu.
For any Samsung device you would enter *#2263# and the "LTE Band" service menu would open up and you can force a specific band. IF this is what he is talking about, it’s actually a great feature because you can "lock in" LTE to a specific band, I use to do this all the time in the Philippines so I wouldn't get kicked off the LTE band. You can also see what LTE bands the phone supports.
When I had the M9, I looked everywhere and tried to find the code to access the LTE menu but I was unsuccessful. Maybe someone here has the code to access the LTE service Band menu. There were some generic codes that work for Google in general BUT none of them worked on the M9.

Try *#*#4636#*#*

*#2263# doesn't work for me
But yes LTE band 12

##DATA# on Sprint lets you do something like this, but I believe that code is Sprint-specific.

LTE Band Selection Problem (Band3, Band7)

Hi, I am new to the forum and want to share my experience about LTE BandSelection.
As discussed in the previous thread, you can access to Verizon Hidden Menu called LTEBANDSELECTION. By default, Band2 Band4 Band13 are checked and Band5 is unchecked. However, from LG website LTE 3/7 is supported for Roaming, but those bands are not on the list.
I can confirm that at least Band3 is working because I am on a carrier that uses Band8 and Band3. The problem is that, when I try to change the LTE band selections above (ex: adding Band5 to the list), it seems that LTE3/7 is not working anymore. After changing it once, I only get 3G signal without any LTE. The only way that I can get the Band3 signal again is going back to the original stock rom (13b) again.
It is weired that there is no hidden menu to select Band3/7. Do you have any idea on this problem? Thanks!

Not data connection in Canada, help!

HI there,
I brought my Robin to Toronto in July, but couldn't get data service however I tried. I did some brief googling on this, and found no answer. The 2G voice and SMS worked fine.
I have never had data problem in Canada in the past. I am on T-Mobile and previously LG V20, IPhone SE, Moto G4 Play, Galaxy S3, S4, S7 all worked fine in Toronto.
(trust me I tried all mobile setting options being an amateur android user for many years)
Any suggestions (other than APN setting etc that is user available in mobile data setting)?
Thanks!
Robin supports
GSM 850/900/1800/1900
HSPA 850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100
LTE Bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/19/20/28
Check which band your device is connecting to when you use your T-Mobile SIM.
There are many diagnostic codes but most are disabled for users to invoke.
But this one usually works,
Use *#*#4636#*#* > phone information > network type that is the band you are connected to.
If you aren't able to get info of the band you are connected to try apps like LTE Discovery or NetMonitor Cell Signal Logging.
LTE Band numbers are associated to certain frequency. Check [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LTE_frequency_bands)
If the band you are connected to is indeed 3G/4G supported go to your carrier and ask them to get this working. Carriers usually have a whitelist of 4G devices which is how they determine which SIM is connected to which device and which network to provide.

US998 Hidden Menu LG V30/V30+

EDIT: If the dialer code doesn't work for you, see this post for another way to access the Hidden Menu.

US998 Hidden Menu LG V30/V30+
So, I went looking for the hidden menu dialer code for the US998 LG V30.
https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/75tbsc/lg_v30_and_others_engineering_menu/
*#546368#*998#
That's a different menu, and doesn't provide the band locking option and you can break your CA and LTE combos if click the wrong thing. Just wondering if that code works. You can get to the Engineering Mode, though.

Found it. Literally you copy and paste this code into your dialer. Do not hit "call". Once you paste it in, the menu instantly pops up.
Unlike for the T-mobile variant, it doesn't let you checkmark off all the bands you want -- at least with AT&T Prepaid, which I have. I think the bands it shows it dependent upon the SIM card you have in your phone.
I was able to click each LTE band my phone IS showing and with one exception (LTE band 30), a box popped up and "Success". Whatever that means.
I think if I had AT&T postpaid it might show more bands. (AT&T Prepaid doesn't allow domestic roaming, but does have roaming in some other countries.) Or if I had T-mobile it might show different bands, like even LTE band 66. Since I have AT&T Prepaid -- with no U.S. roaming -- it's not going to show me a band I'll never use? At least that's my working theory. While the dialer code is the same, possibly options are different depending carrier/SIM card[/B]
You can also go into the Service Menu and turn off MOISTURE DETECTION. Just an FYI for those who need to know that.
I did go into the some of the VoLTE/Wi-Fi calling settings. While VoLTE was already enabled, VoWifi (Wi-Fi calling was not). I enabled it. As an AT&T Prepaid customer, we don't get that yet, and I don't really need it. (I have Google Voice.) But I checkmarked it to enable all that. Didn't seem to break my phone.
I took some screenshots to get into the LTE bands menu, but I didn't take screenshots of the other stuff. Of course, be careful! You can break functionality.

LTE BANDS on AT&T Prepaid
Okay anybody know how to get the LTE band selector back to automatic? Apparently clicking on one of the bands chooses only that band. I am stuck on band 12 which is prevalent in the Atlanta area, but I would like all bands.
By clicking on band 30, I had no LTE whatsoever . I had to click on band 12 to get some LTE signal.
In that menu, I do not see a method to choose a batch of bands. I only see a method to choose one band at a time. Whereas before I mess with the menu I had several bands automatically depending upon signal strength.
I rebooted my phone, hoping the band selector was only for that one session . But still I'm only seeing LTE band 12. I don't want to reset my phone. This got to be away to make it go back to automatic.

Whatever I just did, now I can get other LTE bands. I'm now on LTE band 2.
But I didn't choose LTE band 2, it just found the strongest signal. Whew.
Thought I was going to have to reset my phone.

Funny, i did the same thing this morning when playing with the menus. I thought it was a checkbox and saw a 'SUCCESS' toast show up on clicking. Oh no , what have I done.
I rebooted the phone and everything seems to be back to normal.
A slightly different code for the AT&T version of V30
The code didn't work on my AT&T version, BUT!!!!!! ........ I noticed how the last 3 digits correspond to the unlocked version and substituted them with 931 which corresponds to H931/AT&T phone version and voila!! I get into the hidden menu.
So for AT&T version of V30 the code is *#546368#*931#
Enjoy!
The menu looks a bit different though e.g. band selection is not there

I'm still concerned I may have done something to prevent my LTE bands from automatically switching properly. I've been on LTE Band 2 for two days now and only LTE band 2. Normally traveling to and from work (30 miles down I-75 and across I-285 perimeter) I'll switch bands, according to LTE Discovery app.
But today I'm heading into north Georgia where LTE band 4 is prevalent, so we'll see...
reposting here also as it's very relevant to the US998 hidden menu.

Hey All,
I unfortunately messed around with the LTE Band Settings on my US 998 (US Cellular) in the hidden menu and am now worried that the phone is locking to specific bands. Right now, no matter how many times I reset network settings and restart the phone, it will only lock to one band (12 or 4). The lock is dependent on which LTE Band Setting I select. Anyone know where in the hidden menu I can reset the band selection? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Please tell me exactly what you did to fix the problem? When you factory re-set, did you allow Google to restore your data and apps? I really don't want to do a factory reset if I don't have to.
I've already tried airplane mode, as well as chosen other bands (I stick on them unless I re-select LTE band 2.) As well as rebooted multiple times daily.
I've been stuck on LTE band 2 for 4 days now. I selected LTE bands in that hidden menu and it stays only on the one chosen. Before that I was stuck on LTE band 12, but 2 is better than 12 if I have to be stuck on one.

Unfortunately that doesn't help. It's the US998 menu. You click it, it chooses that band. You click another it chooses THAT band and only that band. It stays in the last band you chose and only that band.
I can select another band besides band 2, but I would then be just choosing another band to be stuck on. I did that initially when I was stuck on band 12. Now I'm stuck on band 2, which is better than being stuck on LTE band 12 in the Atlanta metro area.
I went up to North Georgia last weekend where AT&T LTE band 4 is prevalent, and I was on WEAK LTE band 2 the most of the time, and then on HSPA. I never switched to LTE band 4.
That's why I asked the guy exactly what he did to fix it. He said factory reset, but I would like his details. I don't want to completely reset my phone for nothing. If only a true factory reset will fix it, I'll wait until next weekend when I don't need my phone during the daytime.
Also, did he allow Google to restore data and apps?

Has anyone found a solution to this? I have tried a factory reset and it did not solve the issue. I also tried a couple things such as changing the RAT Selection to WCDMA ONLY (since VZW) and then LTE ONLY and then to LTE/WCDMA but that results in no service at all whereas I at least have service with WCDMA ONLY or LTE ONLY.
I imagine there should be a simple way to fix this as it is literally just disabling bands in the modem...it is just a matter of figuring out how.
same issue here. anyone succeeded in restoring the default settings? weird hidden menu on this Phone and keeps me frustrated...

Hey Chazz, sorry for the delay. I have notifications turned off. But yes, I had to do a factory reset from scratch. I didn't restore any settings and started with a clean slate. I then used LTE discovery to see myself connecting to different bands. Toggling airplane mode showed band 4 and 12.

Thanks for the answer. The V30 with the problem is now my backup phone, as I'm using a V30+ as daily phone. I didn't dare touch this menu on that one or my wife's V30.
I have reset that first phone, but it no longer has a SIM card in it. Maybe next weekend I take it for a drive...

Yeah, the US998 needs the T-Mobile hidden menu, where you can select all the bands you wish, not just one at a time. Very strange design choice from LG.
There is an option in the hidden menu to reset networks. Did you see that? Maybe that's what needs to be chosen?

Hmmm... very strange. I know I saw something before, but I can't find exactly what I remember.
Anyway, I see the R&D Factory Reset in the Hidden Menu. Is that some kind of super duper re-set? I don't know. It's in the Hidden Menu for a reason.
I also see Network Settings Reset in the the regular Settings menu. I don't have a SIM card in this phone, but if I did would it re-set ALL my network settings?

I think the Network Settings Reset in the regular settings menu is already covered by the factory data reset. Thanks for getting back to us though. I'm not entirely sure if Factory Data Reset worked for me or not. T-Mobile around where I live is mostly Band 4. I've looked through cellmapper for towers that had band 2 and were spotted recently, and as I drove by them I didn't notice my phone connecting to anything other than band 4.

SM-T807P with not support to WCDMA

I have a SPRINT SM-T807P pre-owned tablet working 100% OK.
The device IMEI is clean and I'm outside the US.
I could find the 2G/3G/4G technology and bands supported prior to buy the device through eBay.
Then, running stock ROM MM 6.0.1 updated > root > unlock and debranding to clean SPRINT apps and restrictions with others carriers SIMs.
I have 3 SIMs from my 3 local carriers and I know I can't use LTE since the carriers LTE bands are not compatible with the device (Band 2 and Band 4 required by the carriers)
www_gsmarena_com/samsung_galaxy_tab_s_10_5_lte-6235.php
No problem with that, I can use 3G/2G mobile data for my internet surfing and email check tasks.
My problem is that my device is not supporting WCDMA!
When I'm in IOTHiddenMenu > ##DATA# Menu > HDR/1X Selection, I have only these options:
1) Hybrid
2) CDMA Only
3) EVDO Only
4) EHRDP 1x
5) Global
6) LTE + CDMA + EVDO
7) LTE only
As you can see there is nothing related to WCDMA!
Using "Global" is not the trick.
In GCF SETTING when going to

[2]NAS
[1]Network Control
[4]BAND SELECTION
I can see "WCDMA Band Preference" > "WCDMA ALL" option but this setting is not saved.
Only are saved the options related to LTE, CDMA or LTE+CDMA.
Same behavior when going to RADIO SETTINGS > Set preferred network type. GSM/WCDMA options present but are not being saved nor accepted. I can save only options with LTE or CDMA (or both) involved.
RTN RESET and NV REBUILD done without getting WCDMA enabled after the tasks.
Now I'm in the way of discover why all the people with SPRINT SM-T807P can enjoy WCDMA services after unlocking the device and I can't do it as expected.
I'm thinking that is a restriction on the stock ROM.
I have a MSM8974 board with a Snapdragon 800 processor.
Build ID MMB29M.T807PVPU1CPI1
Any help/advice to enable WCDMA on the device will be really appreciated.
Additionally, when I'm in RADIO SETTINGS for some reason I can't select some options.
With a (*) mark are my "selectable" options. The other ones can't be assigned...
WCDMA preferred
GSM only
WCDMA only
GSM auto (PRL)
(*) CDMA auto (PRL)
(*) CDMA only
EvDo only
(*) GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)
(*) LTE/CDMA auto (PRL)
(*) LTE/GSM auto (PRL)
(*) LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)
(*) LET only
(*) Unknown
All the "selectable" options were tested (selected and restart) with no success...
Maybe I need to enable LTE/HSDPA/GSM required bands through CDMA Tools or it seems to be a bad idea?
Adding additional LTE Bands was not possible with CDMA tools.
The new selection is not being saved.
I'm in the way of flashing the stock SM-T807T (T-Mobile) on my SM-T807P (Sprint) to check the behaviors.
Any advice will be really appreciated...
I could see at the Qualcomm website that the Snapdragon 800 processor supports WCDMA and full LTE bands frecuencies:
Supported Cellular Technologies
LTE FDD
LTE TDD
LTE Broadcast
WCDMA (DC-HSDPA, DC-HSUPA)
TD-SCDMA
CDMA 1x
EV-DO
GSM/EDGE
https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/800
I'm in the way (too) of searching for the correct MODEM flash file to get LTE, WCDA and GM/EDGE fully unlocked and working...
It was not possible to flash SM-T807T (T-Mobile) stock ROM from SAMMobile on SM-T807P (Sprint)
There is a Odin error.
I will try by editing NV to get the bands working...
Well, after working with CDMA Tools, NV Manager and editing the build.prop file, now I can see my required LTE, WCDMA and GSM additional bands! No more "Searching network connection" on the top left corner.
But the signal icon on the top right corner is always empty (no signal at all).
I have checked, deleted and reconfigured the APN, with no success.
And still I can't set "GSM auto (PRL)" on the Service Mode as "Preferred Network Type" so I believe I'm missing something else.
I'm really exhausted, I need help to be able to get my Samsung Galaxy Tab S working OK on my local GSM networks.
I will open a new thread offering to pay/donate for the service to have my device working on GSM ...

Useful tip for switching LTE bands in the G710EAW (and possibly other versions)

If you try to change bands in the service menu (e.g. from Band 4 to band 2) and you have LTE but phone calls don't work at all (just says call ended instantly), just go to "network mode" and select automatic, which will get voice working again on your new band.
Turning the sim card off and back on won't fix that--that will just make the band reset to default (with voice working) which isn't want you wanted if you were switching bands.
This can be useful on low tier providers if one band is lagging horribly and another band is more reliable.
I just recently discovered the service menu, does this actually enable bands that normally aren't active? I see Band 71 here which I thought was only available on the TMobile US variant, yet here I am with the ULM model and it shows it in the menu. I'd like to enable it in case I'm ever in an area that supports it, but I'm not sure what this menu actually does?
