Bad Signal? Update your Firmware or Modem and save battery. - LeEco Le Pro3 Guides, News, & Discussion

On GSam Battery Monitor's phone signal graph, I noticed fluctuating signal graph. I work in city core and signal is always in good 65-72 dbm range.
There is certainly no reason for the phone to have signal problems. Worse is that signal problem causes battery drain.
Fix is rather simple. Update firmware or modem (NON-HLOS.bin.) Though I flashed entire firmware, updating modem alone should do it.
To update, follow [GUIDE] How to manually upgrade firmware posted by @Presterin .
However, note that I used 26S firmware as 23S firmware is the one that gave me the problem.
In the picture, those crazy fluctuation is when I was on 23S radio and right after I I flashed 26s one, it is nice and stable as you can see.
EDIT: Do not flash system.img and boot.img if you want to keep your current rom as it is. Obviously, do not format Data neither.

How about US devices on American carriers? What modem is good for them?

You will need to find latest stock rom which contains firmware and flash it. As for which modem works best, I do not know. I suggest you compare them using GSam Battery Monitor.

5.8.19s is the only modem we have for USA. I think it works pretty well. No battery drain here on my lex727.

Can you please upload NON-HLOS.bin alone for 26S somewhere, so we dont have to download the whole rom?
Thank you

I've uploaded all of the 26s firmware files this morning, just extracted from the official ROM. Follow the link below
https://uploadfiles.io/09ywy
The zip is NOT flashable, its just an archive of all FW files.

Can we flash 26s files over PA 7.3.1? Or only over the Chinese EUI?

The whole package? or just the NON-HLOS.bin?

I flashed whole thing on Omni rom except system.img and boot.img. Also no data format.
It did not break anything.

Does flashing this firmware enable CDMA?

It does not enable or disable anything. Just an update of what you already have.
If your question is about flashing x720 modem on x722 or vice versa, I do not know but I recall reading others' posts about that on other threads.

I have the X727. How do we tell what version of the modem we have? What is the latest version? I have issues with signal dropping in and out all the time. Very annoying.

when i select the firmware26.zip with flashfire it give me only 10 partitions and not 15 ...it's normal?
The first two partitions on top (Primary Bootloader - Secondary Bootloader AP) are grayed out . i must enable the two partition too in the setting?
Edit: I flashed firmware26s.zip with flshfire also the first two partitions of the bootloader and everything went well ... thanks

FOH3 Modem.bin files for MDL and non MDL bootloaders

UPDATE: https://mega.nz/#!G0sUgLYQ!FLkCzuu_9MjGXuxQAZ3sGIZEGVTZLsy48v92NSZiaWQ
^^^Modem & Non-Hlos in a zip file. Extract and flash what you need.^^^
Non-Hlos <<<(need to be on [OH3] MATCHING Bootloader!)
FOR MDL BOOTLOADER FLASH ONLY THE MODEM.BIN (NOT NON-HLOS)
Everythings working, sound, calling, LTE, Wifi etc.
Steps I took in case anyone needs it: have latest samsung drivers, open odin (I used 3.04). Untick auto reboot, POWER OFF PHONE dont use reboot menu because files wont always flash correctly. Hold power + vol down to boot to download, make sure it shows up in odin. Click PDA navigate to modem.bin (if its not showing up enter ** into file name field and hit enter....poof its there) now flash it and wait until you see success. Unplug phone, Close/Reopen ODIN, Hold power to shut down, boot to download and repeat modem flash to make sure it sticks.
Make sure you have a backup of rom and current/older modem in case you want to switch it back or what not. Not a dev, just wanted to help out and give back to the community.
Thanks @shiamatsu for this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544612 , no clue if sound would still be effected by non-hlos.bin on MDL
Thanks @dirkdigles for the heads up on non-hlos.bin.

While this allows one to update to the latest baseband, does it address the stagefright fix or is the entire firmware flash needed?

The entire firmware is needed. But it's a moot point if you're running a custom ROM; once you reflash your custom ROM, you're at risk if your devices dev hasn't patched the ROM.

It might be better or its just a placebo effect, mine seems more stable. Really need to try it in your area for yourself and see, too many different configs for this phone to be sure for everyone.
I was able to flash the modem.bin just fine. However, I'm on the NK2 bootloader, and I can't get the non-hlos.bin file to work. I've used Odin 3.04, 3.07 and 3.09, and I get a Pass message every time. According to the Phone info app, I'm still on The NK2 bootloader. I used the phone slot for the non-hlos.bin file. Has anyone else had this problem?

Its probably easier for EVERYONE not on MDL to just update with odin official firmware, then odin TWRP or whatever recovery and restore the backup you should've made. No need to re-root or what not. This post was mainly for MDL.

You can't flash non-hlos.bin on a bootloader that doesn't match. You gotta take the original TAR and do something like this guy did

Thanks but NO GO .
I ran into this problem attempting to root the latest Oreo OCX27.1 and got into a bootloop. The only Oreo firmware available to download isis the previous OCX27 and I believe that downgrading to that causes the lost of baseband and imei. I am waiting to see when OCX27.1 will be available to download so I can try to return to stock to 27.1 see if it restores my baseband
The problem i am seeing is that none of the stock firmware are for ocx27.1. they are all for ocx27. i have seen an ota update that is for the ocx27.1 but i have not figured out how to extract it yet

Question T-Mobile updated modem.

Hello, if anyone is on the latest rooted T-Mobile firmware, could you please pull the modem_a/modem_b and modemst1/modemst2 img files and upload them please? I'm converted and I'm using the 11.2.5.5 T-Mobile modem. I wanna see if there's any noticeable difference in coverage/speed with 11.2.5.5 vs latest T-Mobile firmware modems. Thanks in advance.

what exactly do u mean? What I do is everytime T-mobile updates, I get new modem and flash on Global... I'll be doing so for every update, where I provide zips and images in thread shared above.
Awesome thread. Thanks for chiming in on this. I thought I was in the wrong by posting this cause of your thread but to clarify what I meant was: the latest T-Mobile firmware is 11.2.4.4. My backup from before I converted was based off of 2.2 or 2.3 I believe. If someone had a firmware newer than 3.3, I was wondering if it was better or the same. Sorry for any confusion.
I guess I could always pull the modem files from a t-mobile ota but I don't think there's any full zips floating around since t-mobile is technically AA, AA otas are pushed from Google's servers and they're only incremental. Not sure if incrementals have the modem files or not.

Here is the link to the T-Mobile 11.2.5.5 firmware modem images if anyone is interested.
Modem_a/_b are fastboot flashable.
Fastboot flash modem_a modem_a.img
Fastboot flash modem_b modem_b.img
Fastboot reboot
These can also be replaced in payload.bin firmware fastboot roms. Just extract via payload dumper, place these modem files into the rom, then fastboot flashall in fastbootd.
DO NOT FLASH modemst1 or modemst2.
Thanks @craznazn. Will delete files from folder so the modem_a and modem_b are the only two files in there. Also, these are the modems from the Pro variant. OOS 11.2.5.5. T-Mobile firmware.
Edit: files removed.
