Switch between Root and Unroot? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

This maybe the stupidest question Ive ever asked. Can I continually switch between my currently rooted and an unrooted version of the device by simply uninstalling the super SU app?
The reason is this : I need to install BES 12 on my phone and for some reason RootCloack doesn't seem to work and the app still won't register. Is there anyway I can switch between Root and Unroot in that sense?

Barclays Bank App not working even after unrooting custom rom[SOLVED]

Hello guys,
I unlocked my BL and flashed a rom last night as stock 4.2 was so laggy for me. I need to be able to use the barclays bank app.
so far i tried the methods on this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823649
with no joy so i removed root via SuperSU app. I checked xbin and bin and SU file was gone.
I still get the RP029 error. Also have the 99999 error. If all fails is there a pure stock rom that i can flash without wipe? im on a 4.2.1 rom
thanks
Was it working on 4.1.2 for example?

Yeh but I was not rooted. I have a feeling that they locked me out because I tried from a rooted phone
Just an update for future people who find this post. I had to call barclays to re-set my account.

just to add to this, when i rang barclays up they told me i could only have the banking app on 3 devices, so after 3 reinstalls (due to new roms) i had to ring them to reactivate.
also just another thing i couldnt get the banking app to work with any root work around for ages but i finally found 1 that worked for me and that was using sTweaks to temp unroot

Root without root issue.

Hi peeps, looked at rooting my nice new G3 and went in for the kill with towel root [emoji16] only to find out didn't support my version. Decided to go with purpledrake (not got there yet) found a couple of apps not working because of root which root checker says I don't have. My question is do I need to root now regardless even if only to unroot? To get things back to normal?

After rooting, did you install SuperSU?
Also, there's StumpRoot as a 3rd option.
That's just it. Towel root told me my phone wasn't supported and root checker says I don't have root, yet the app in question says I do so super user seems a bit pointless.

SuperSU is needed after you root to give apps root access. Try to install it, if it works, you're rooted and you can go along with your rooted apps.
Otherwise, try StumpRoot (Towel and Purple's didn't support my version either), install SuperSU and enjoy your root apps!
Tried to install it with no luck. Seems something's gone wrong somewhere.
Says I need to manually 're root of I just upgraded to android 4.3. As it can't install su binaries.

Time to give StumpRoot a shot then.
Yeah I think your right. The only issue left is the app I want to use fails when rooted and the root cloak module/app doesn't currently support it [emoji20]
Edit:
Well i tried stump root and got nowhere [emoji20] looking like purple is my only way forward. And if i want to use that particular app then root, unroot is the only way forward. [emoji45]

[Q] android pay working for anyone?

I am running on stock rooted OF8 and can't seem to run android pay. Setting it up it says that it can't determine if it is compatible. Google wallet did work before. Anyone else run into this?
Apparently it doesn't work on rooted phones. Read some where that you can activate it and then root afterwards but haven't tried it yet.

works for me non root for now
Were i can find android pay ?
It worked for me non rooted at a vending machine. Though rooted or not at Maverick and Smiths, (3 times total) it has caused my phone to freeze after I verify my pattern lock.
Anyone having that issue?
Haven't been even able to set it up. Rooted on OF8. I'm going to flash the new build tonight and see if I can get it working before I root again and see what happens.
Use an app like RootCloak or HideMyRoot. Once you hide root you can add your cards with no problems. Using it to pay you will need to hide root again.... way too many steps for it to be convenient for me.

Where can I get a working version of either of those apps? All the ones I found doing a Google search are outdated and people say they don't work anymore.
I use Hide My Root from the PlayStore. It worked for what i needed but you cant use it for individual apps like RootCloak can. I'm odexed and can't get RootCloak going.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amphoras.hidemyroot
Worked for me today at mcdonalds i unrooted so i can update to get samsung pay.

Android pay on our OP3 with root?

Need help! Don't know if it's been answered. I've checked and haven't going anything. I've tried the chmod 751 in terminal and everything systemless and nothing has worked. Echo command did nothing.
It got patched yesterday. AP doesn't work anymore on rooted devices. Not sure if it's against the rules to link reddit but check r/android for updates like this

On my device it does seem to work with systemless root (latest supersu). When do you receive the alert?
It should work with systemless root, but you have to disable xposed.

So if you haven't purchased anything yet, try to. It probably won't work. It fails on two parts, me trying to add a credit card after a factory reset and when I had the credit card on it and tried using a touch pay thing.

As @katsumex stated, it was patched.
Thread here if you're curious: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/help/oos-3-2-2-safetynet-t3427833
Works fine systemless without xposed enabled
Thanks a lot guys. Well I am systemless and it did t work and this was before the patch. Also don't have exposed and still didn't work. Guess I'll be waiting for a newer setup. Urghhh. To root or not to root?, in the name of Android Pay!!!

Any specific steps to set it up? I mean I am systemless and I don't have Xposed. Still nothing. Maybe I forgot to set something.
SuperSU v2.76 on 3.2.1 stopped working for me yesterday. Have over 20 transactions where it has. According to the play store the app itself last updated 11th July. And I have transactions done after. So whatever's changed is not on the app.
Btw, i will try systemless and report back.

Not anymore.
Correct. The safetynet check no longer passes. The check is performed server side, so there is really no way to work around it at the moment, unless you fully unroot of course. So, even a fully proper systemless root method will fail. Oh well. I have never, nor ever will most likely, use Android Pay anyway. Lol. I was just curious why it wasn't working...so apparently Google has caught on for now. This goes for all phones too, not just the OP3. Good luck!

Why do/dont i have to root my phone

Hi all.
First, sorry about my english.
Second, I come from op3t and until this phone i've rooted all my phones.
I got op5t for a year almost and still didnt make it rooted.
I want to know the postivie things about root and the negative things about root.
I mean like... Does it help for less battery darin and etc.
Thanks
About the only reason I personally root is for adaway. For me there is no downside as I can still use banking and NFC payment apps.
I can't use my phone without root.
Root is necessary to completely block ads in whole rom.
Then you can theme your system with substratum
Which is best part & most beautiful thing of root.
Oos is basically root ready.. so have it.
Or you can just stay as you are with unaware to alot of things.
Some banking apps detect the root and does not work.? What is the best possible method to hide the root from those apps?
if only battery optimised is what you need, try custom kernel or wakelock app, you don't really need root for those needs

i understand that if i want to root i need to wipe everything and thats scares me, i afraid to lose some improtant stuff
Is there anything you want to do with your phone that you can't do because you aren't rooted? If yes watch a couple of guides on how to backup and root your phone. If no don't root.
