So there is a long story. First my oncle give me this phone to repair it. When he give it to me the phone won't boot and doesn't a recovery (reboot when POWER VOL- > recovery). So I installed TWRP (openrecovery-twrp-2.8.5.0-m8.img) and the default firmware (m8_4.16.401.10_AROMA.zip) after doing the installation (without root and not putting the default recovery). After reboot everything work expect the wifi. When I click on the off button on the wifi it goes gray and does nothing else. I tried reseting the phone to factory setting / wipe data / dalvik and impossible to make this ******* wifi turn on.
There is more information from voldown + power

Your current firmware 2.26 is too low to run 4.xx rom, that's why you have wifi problem.
I may have 2.26.73.2 nandroid backup but can't confirm now as I'm away from home.
You also can install RUU 4.19.73.4 to fix your problem.
Get the RUU here (it's free) - https://easy-firmware.com/index.php?a=browse&b=category&id=1160

I start this thread because i didn't find anywhere in Desire HD forum a analysis about Hboot upgrade.
I am currently have HBOOT-0.85.0024 Eng S-OFF and PVT SHIP S-OFF and i wondering:
1) Can I upgrade to HBOOT-2.00.0027 and still have Eng S-OFF and PVT SHIP S-OFF?
2) Will be affected in any way the ROM that i have already installed?
3) Which are the improvements that were added in the newer version (HBOOT-2.00.0027)?
4) How to make the upgrade without many headaches and without running the RUU?
I have attached the HBOOT that i extracted from the final RUU: RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed.exe
Eng s off is gained from having a certain hboot. If you change it you will probably lose eng s off unless the hboot version you switch to is eng s off. I'm pretty sure though that the one you have is the only eng s off version, I could be wrong though there may be other hboots with eng s off. I do know the one you are thinking about upgrading to is not eng s off though.

1) if you upgrade your hboot you will loose eng s-off and just have Ship S-Off (aka radio s-off)
2 & 3) not really, but you will need to re-format your cache partition in recovery (to either ext3 or ext4.. whichever your rom is using) as the cache size has been increased by 100mb for use with sense 3. So bonus if you're already running a sense 3 or 3.5 rom.
4) Take the rom.zip from the ruu, use winrar to extract it into a folder. delete the img's and the spash.nb0's (if you want to flash the newest radio, dont delete radio.img). Once you've removed the useless junk, and just have the text, the hboot, and optionally the radio, select them all, right click and 'add to archive' (should have this option if you have winrar installed). name it PD98IMG, and make it a zip, not a rar. Move it to your sd card. power off with fastboot disabled, and then vol- and power to get into the bootloader. when it asks, volume up to commence the update.
Again, dont forget to go into recovery after to reformat your cache partition, as this will leave it raw and unuseable until its formatted.
Hi All...
I have a prom with my Orange DHD...I was updating to the latest OTA but the update failed and now all i get when i start up is the green circular arrows for a few seconds and then the red triangle with exclamation mark.
I can access HBOOT and FASTBOOT menus, but Factory Reset and Recovery do not work (bot result in the red triangle)
I had a look on the SD card, but no update files were on the root of the card...
It looks like the download of the rom was corrupted and not saved...
Having done a bit of research here i tried to put a stock PD98DIAG.zip from a 2.3.5 WEE RUU onto the SD card root and went to HBOOT, but that failed as the checks failed with the below errors:
no image for PD98DIAG.zip,
no image or wrong image for PD98DIAG.nbh and PD98IMG.zip etc.
and also as the CID was incorrect
(assuming my phone CID is ORANG001, so not accepting the WWE?).
So...my question is before i get HTC to take it back as its under warranty and lose my phone for up to a month (i go on holiday next week and am not back till Easter - but would liek it with me on the trip), is there a method i can put a rom on to at least get the phone to boot and then do an update again?
When i plug the phone to usb the phone recognises the connection but my pc asks for Android 1.0 drivers (even though HTC Sync and the HTC Drivers are installed)
Can i run any RUU from my PC to get the phone up if the PC isnt loading the HTC Android 1.0 drivers?
I guess what i'm looking for is step by step instructions on getting the phone back up conisidering all i can currently do is access HBOOT...What are the risks of rooting going wrong and bricking the phone?
the HBOOT details are:

Your phone isn't rooted so you can't install any other roms. There's various guides on how to root your phone, some easier than others depending on the stock. Personally I had to update to a newer rom that had an exploit in it that allowed me to install an earlier version that allowed rooting. From there you can then permanently root the phone.
The best thing would be to search for guides on rooting a desire hd on orange (I'm on 3 so may be slightly different), then you can always reinstall your stock rom if you want

Your phone isn't rooted (the LOCKED message on bootloader screen) which is why you can't flash the PD98 image or any other ROM/RUU for that matter that is not digitally signed by Orange.
If you have warranty I don't suggest rooting it as this might void the warranty, especially if your phone still doesn't work after rooting. Perhaps it would be easier for Orange to fix it?
Hello;
I do not have OS in the HTC one m8. Now after pressing on power button and on the lower volume button, I see the following:

And it can be shown in the attached picture.
I downloaded RUU_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_4.16.1540.8_Radio_1.24.21331147A1.09G_20.68.4196.01_F_release_411207_signed_3.exe which size is about 1.5 GB on external memory card, but I tried to copy this file to the mobile memory to be able to run it but it does not copy although it is showing that it is copying, but after finishing, I do not find it on the mobile memory.
Maybe it is because the RUU is large size (although the mobile memory is 20873 MB which is 20 GB). But what is the alternative file that can be used?
From the other side, when I need to reboot, it says: No OS Installed! Are you sure you need to reboot? I swipe to reboot, then it gives me another message: Install SuperSU? Your device does not appear to be rooted. Install SuperSU now? This will root your device. I swiped to Install but again, I do not see any change.
And always when I reboot, it gives the same message to install supersu and the device does not appear to be root.
It seems I have to know which file to be downloaded to for SuperSU and which file to be downloaded for RUU, can someone help and direct me as I am new to HTC?
Regards

You can't run an exe file from your phone. You need to run it from your Windows PC. Plug your phone into your PC, get into fastboot, and run the RUU.exe as administrator. Follow the prompts and profit!

Thanks a lot. It worked and it was important to be in fastboot.
Guys, there's a problem.
Put Busybox on the phone, not from under recovery. Phone will reboot and then, depending on the logo htc one. Well, after a little manipulation, I decided that killed the system got into recovery fully format phone system partition, hoping to put the drain firmware.
If you try to do everything according to the instructions of a cap on the moment when the sew through ARUWizard, it requires me to update Ruth to version 1.16.401.1. The version on the phone, he can not identify, after the start of the update, the program goes into an infinite load (waited about an hour).

As I understand it , the problem is HBOOT. How to change it ?
Ok i messed with this poor device so badly that i can't tell you...i successfully flashed cm12.1 nighlty but while charging the device simply turns off (i opened a thread about this topic but no one replied) so when i wake up in the morning i had no alarm. i decided then to try some other custom roms but in order to do that i had to RUU my device. Here comes the problem, i found many RUUs for this model but only 1 seemed to work...The RUU process stops at the very end with a message saying the it halted due to large image update...so i tried instead to flash the RUU via fastboot but notihing changed, the zip sent to the device is too large.
i have 3 solutions but i need ur help to make em work...
1) unlock the bootloader and restore a backup ==> the problem is that i simply can't re-unlock it...i tried everything (new unlock token, without sd card, with sd car, without sim card, with sd card; it simply remains relocked)
2) find a suitable RUU for my device that is less then 1 gb ==> the problem is that i can't find it anywhere. so i ask you, is it possible to clean the system partition to free space for the RUU? How?
my device info are:

Please, i really need your help, i read all the similar threads and tried everything but i can't make it work.
