It seems verizon has locked down the boot loader pretty good, signed up at HTC DEV and the "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" command tells me I need to turn off the OEM Lock, I've been reading lots of old threads with no success, I've tried using Two Different Versions of RumRunner and am coming up with errors, tried using sunshine as well, no luck, I need to root the phone to use it with my new carrier. I've posted photos of the errors I am running into, also if there is a different work around for S-OFF and Root On Verizon M9 that I am unaware of I would like to know. HTC One M9 Running Android 6.0.

Did you read the list of supported models before trying to use rumrunner? It isn't and never was compatible with this phone. http://rumrunner.us/downloads-2/
The same question applies to your usage of sunshine. The Verizon M9 isn't supported if it got updated to android N/firmware 4.x. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Q8GKXw3EDVGtAoiu36MdeVqMPRJba1WlF5TZXKQgNgA/htmlview
I'd suggest you to check the compatibility of files/methods you want to use before you actually use them. In the mentioned cases you didn't cause any damages but you need to be aware that flashing incompatible files/using incompatible methods always equals a risk of turning your phone into a paperweight.
You may want to take a look at the Verizon M9 forums since you're currently in the forums of the international version. There you should find a thread with java card/xtc clip owners. They may be able to help you out.

All this talk of accidental bricking reminds me of my i910 days where if you bricked your phone, all you had to do was hook it up using JTAG and you could reflash whatever you wanted (you do need to know where to get the parts/tools though).
I'm fairly sure that the snapdragon platform on this phone, like almost every other embedded system ever made, has JTAG ports for debugging and the like. Has anyone made any progress towards finding them and using them? Or is it as heavily protected as the rest of the phone's security model? Any info would be great!
I know that in the G1 dev forum there is a JTag thread. You can ask the op seems he found them there. Maybe he's updated to the nexus or dinc and has some snapdragon test points.

The thread in question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591048
I didn't see anything about snapdragon in there...
I bought a "bricked" DINC for a steal and was hoping to revive it.
Recovery and system both appeared to be toast, but at least I could get into Hboot (S-ON). Well, after trying to apply a couple "Official" Froyo RUUs, I've now also pooched Hboot. The screen no longer comes on and I've verified it's not just the screen, since it's not recognized at all on USB and therefore no fastboot.
I found this JTAG diagram, and info on dedicated repair boxes such as ORT and RIFF, however I'd like to find a cheaper solution. Shouldn't it be possible to use OpenOCD and a Wiggler JTAG? Anyone here with actual experience working with JTAG on the QSD8650.

Dear XDA members,
I recently bought a HTC One X from Expansys Japan which say on the website that the phone is 'sim-free' i.e. factory unlocked. When I received the phone, the seal was broken and on the first startup the phone didn't ask for initial setup. The language was Chinese which I changed to English, then I tried to update the software which got downloaded (on Wi-Fi) but the software couldn't be installed and gave an error that the phone as running a modified software and I need to return to original (snapshot below).

I then found that the phone has been rooted and the software version and the ROM is something with "OneX.G2 by Cason" written at the end. It seems that they unlocked the One X and send it to me. Now that I haven't yet got any reply from them regarding this fraud, is there any way I can get the software update for this phone?
Can I return the phone to factory setting without loosing the unlock and can use on my carrier after the software update? Or if I reset the phone then it will get locked to its previous carrier and I might not be able to use it without unlocking again??
Thank you in advance.
You were sold used goods as new. The warranty is void. Not much else to be said.
Look in the development section, there are guides you could follow to relock the bootloader and install stock recovery, which will allow you to receive HTC's OTA updates. You can always re-unlock the bootloader using HTCDev.com.
That being said, since your warranty is already void because the bootloader has been unlocked, you should consider finding a custom ROM and kernel that suits your needs, since they'll usually be (much) faster and power-efficient than the stock ROM.
So, I have followed numerous guides from unlockr, to the firewater site, and more... but nothing works.
Hardware: T-Mobile HTC One M8
System: Win 7 x64
I have tried using different USB ports, running cmd as admin, installing drivers, reinstalling adb, etc etc etc etc
Here is my issue:
I have gotten the program to successfully run, but it goes back to the superuser prompt in adb almost immediately after "chugging the first bottle"

Has anyone else had this problem, or more importantly, does anyone know of a workaround or a fix?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Did you apply the OTA update before trying? I've seen several posts about issues with firewater after applying the new update.

Yup. Applied the new update right before unlocking boot loader/flashing recovery/root. Hmmm.. perhaps that is the culprit. Is there a dedicated thread for the tmo user issue?

There isn't a dedicated T-Mo firewater thread. The "Anyone on T-Mobile US have success S-OFF" thread is probably the place that has the most discussion around s-off for our variant. But you could always check in the firewater thread and see if anyone else is having the same issue.

Just an FYI - this is the HTC One M8 Windows forum...so expect the mods to come after you with a vengeance...lol. I'd re-post this question in the Android group, or ask the moderator to move it. There's a few different Android forums depending on what network you're on too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/
I'm guessing there was an update in-between the one you're trying to install and what you currently have, and for some reason, your phone is skipping it...but that's just a guess. My only recommendation is try re-flashing a stock rom on it (FYI - it'll wipe data off internal storage, so hope you have a backup of your contacts/photos/etc. before attempting this):

Agree that the error message indicates its looking for a newer build, and not finding it.
To the OP, did you manually put the update file on the phone; or did you download it the "usual" way when notified or by checking for an update in Settings?
What hboot number? What stock ROM (software number) did you put on the phone?
So I work at a phone retailer and was fortunate to get our HTC One M8 display. Have gotten some things before and they were real easy to fix to become "standard units".
The HTC was not as straight forward though.
I tried to delete the demo App but that could not be done

I tried to just factory reset it but that could not be done as the Ok button was greyed out like so:
I then read up on a guide to flash it with Hasoon2000's AIO Toolkit, but when I tried that I could not do the step 3 "Get token ID".
I only got up "error: device not found", so I tried to reinstall the HTC drivers a few times to no avail.
I though this might be due to the fact that developer mode can't be turned on but it seems like USB debugging is active.

At this point I'm not sure what to do.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The only thing it seems you can do is s-off and use a RUU.

Thank you for the reply. I will try this out
And change the CID once you obtained s-off. It's now in the line of HTC__002 (only used for demo devices)
1: S-OFF
2: change cid to HTC__001 (for example. Any wwe cid will do)
3: run the wwe RUU
Yes, change your CID. Your RUU will fail until you change it. Changing it to 11111111 will open up your options of which one you can use. If you have a CDMA device use a Verizon or WWE depending on bands your wanting to use. If you phone is GSM capable you can't go wrong with the dev addition.
