Hi,
I want to install Lineage OS and the first step is to unlock the device.
The problem is that unlock device tool works only on Lollipop but Lineage requires Marshmallow for installation.
So my question is:
Can i downgrade the device to Lollipop, unlock the device, and then upgrade the device to MM, or when i upgrade the unlocking will be reverted?
Thanks
Try using the modder tool. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3458145

It looks old, and it is not said it supports MM.
I downgraded my phone back to LL and unlocked the device successfully (the screen when starting the phone was white) but then when i upgraded to MM to be able to install LineageOS 14.1 the startup screen is black again.
How do i know if the bootloader is locked? and if it is locked how can i unlock it?

Thank you, i'l try it.
Any way, can't i check if my device is unlocked or not?
I installed twrp and booted to twrp recovery but when i do normal boot to the stock rom and then boor again to recovery it boots to the stock recovery. should it be that way?
If you are on mm bootloader, once it's unlocked, you will get a verification error message when you boot. It's harmless, but at least it is an indicator that you are unlocked.

I used the modder method to unlock the bootloader and already installed Lineage OS, thanks.
the problem is the my phone has the flickering screen issues and i wanted to try Lineage OS to see if it helps but fortunately it didn't.
It's weird, because on certain screens the screen flickers but on certain apps it doesn't flicker at all.

Yup, exactly like this. It just starts from upper place in the screen.

It's a hardware issue with your screen. It's from a few bad pixels in the top line of where it starts to go bad. A temporary work around is to use an overlay app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.applay.overlay
Use it to make a small white square overlay and position it over the top edge of the bad area. You'll have to experiment with the size and position until the rest of the screen is clear again.
The only real fix is to replace the screen. Which, if you're handy and can do it yourself, is not very expensive at all. (under $20 US) there are several YouTube videos that show how.

One other thing, the replacement screen most likely won't be gorilla glass like the original. So you might want to get a tempered glass screen protector.

Hello guys! I recently got an GX8 (RIO-L01 Single Sim, from Austria), and already am running CM13.
Question is, can we already install Xposed? I'd really love to have my mods back
If you're already rocking CM13, then there shouldn't be a problem running exposed. Just be careful which version your flashing (sdk23 for MM)!

EDIT:Okay, really strange issue, EMUI Recovery is back even though I had TWRP 3.0.0.1 .... how can I get back to my system without having to reflash the system through fastboot? adb for some reason never works except when I connect through the network, and now it's not possible.

Honestly, I haven't heard on that happening before... I don't know what to make of that. Can you flash TWRP again? I haven't rooted my g8, so I'm not totally sure what else you could try other than flashing TWRP and cm13 again. Maybe ask the dev of the cm13 build, if he has any suggestions.

I did get back by reflashing TWRP 3.0.1 and rebooting to it through fastboot boot twrp.img, and had made a backup before flashing Xposed so all is good. But yeah, seems like Xposed doesn't work for this device yet.
Weird, Xposed works flawlessly here.

You can use fastboot to update each month. You would flash the boot, system, vendor, and maybe radio and bootloader each month. No loss of data. Then boot into TWRP and flash SuperSU and other mods. A great reference is section 9 in the guide below:

You don't need TWRP, if you have encrypted device then it will not work... And when you want to update or flash anything use FlashFire app...

Download terminal from the Play Store and see if this works, if not, then I don't know..
This probably won't work since you need root but it's not going to hurt to try.

If Knox is installed on your phone and it's a company phone, then that's why it's like that.. You'd have to get rid of it but your probably going to need permission from said company since it's probably password protected.

its ok, u can ask away as long as u r legit asking and not trolling, it means ur bootloader is unlocked, allowing u to flash a custom recoveries to flash different roms (such as CM13) but if u don't know what unlocking bootloader means, u more than likely do not know what TWRP Custom recovery is or Custom roms, it also allows you to root your phone, someone had to have your phone before you b/c u have to boot to the OS enable developer options then run a script to unlock the bootloader through fastboot mode. so if u don't like it, i would return it or u can just relock the bootloaders, there are tutorials on this site
Now that my bootloader is unlocked I don't get updates?

i think u can still get updates, i am not sure on that, i know if u r rooted u can't, also if u have TWRP installed u can't, but most updates are flashable through TWRP anyway, the latest is 3.2.1 which is flashable through TWRP, for u to see if you have TWRP, reboot and on that screen press a volume key and move to recovery and boot that, it is shows a splash screen that says TWRP u have the custom recovery, if you get like a black screen with blue text and pretty plain looking u have stock recovery, do that and if u can take a pic and we will let u know

it is normal don't panic.
bootloader warning started with the nexus' 6, 5x and 6p with the verified boot (dm verity) and will be adopted by several manufacturers soon since moto and One+ also started to do it too.
it can be removed but not sure where the image is. it'll be hard if it's at the ramdisk or the bootloader itself tho. hence don't panic if you see that text I'm pretty sure someone with lot's of time can remove it. it's kinda irritating lol
If it's not you that unlocked the bootloader just relock the bootloader, there is at least two tools available in xda oneplus 3 forum that help to unlock and relock the bootloader with ease. It will wipe your phone but you got it recently so it's not a problem.
