My phone won't charge with a long USB cable - General Accessories

I can't seem to get my Samsung Galaxy S6 to charge with a 10 feet USB cable. My old S3 do charges with it, which is weird. And I used to be able to charge it a couple of months ago. Not sure if it's a software issue. I think the SO was updated and not long after I couldn't get it to charge. I threw that cable and bought a new one. The brand is Anker, and they make good cables. I'm using a 3 feet cable of the same brand and model in the meantime to get it charged.

[Q] att zero charger problems

anyone having problems with theirs? when I plug in my phone it slows down and is almost unresponsive. if I plug the micro USB cable that came with my phone into this charger it thinks it is plugged into the computer. it says it is a 1A charger so I don't know what the problem is. I am definitely sending it back but wasn't sure if I should order another. I only paid 20 bucks for the charger, cable, and car charger through att but wondering if I should just order the blackberry chargers off Amazon for cheaper.
I also have the same issue..

Hi,
I also have the same issue. Did anyone has any resolution or should I return the charger?
Thanks
Not sure if it was the same charger, but I had to return one I got from AT&T a couple days later as the touchscreen stopped responding properly while it was connected. Swipe would jump all around and it couldn't track my finger correctly. No issues with the stock charger and cable or any generic cables plugged into iPhone converters since.
Ok just checked the AT&T site, it was the Zero charger. That thing is junk.

Reliable long USB cable?

I just ordered a couple of 10 feet USB cable on ebay from China. I plugged it in and right away the charge indicator shows up with the charge chime. The tablet looks to be charging. An hour later, the tablet stayed at the same battery percentage. The cable doesn't charge. I used a 4.5ft USB extension with stock USB cable and charger but with the same result. The USB extension doesn't charge either. Where can I buy a USB cable that can charge the tablet that's at least 6ft long?
I use a 9 ft extension cable and it charges without any problems. Make sure the extension cable is of good quality.

Same here. I bought mine at wallyworld, 12 bucks, but it works!
This is the one I use and from the seller I purchased it from on Ebay. No issues charging and much better quality then stock actually.

Volt drop in a thin cable can be an issue with cheap cables. Also interconnects add resistance so your unit is likely not seeing the 5Vdc that the charger is supposed to supply. Also make sure your charger is the 2. 1A variety as you will never get proper charge. On top of that longer cable means that the charger has to work harder. So if it's a bit flakes you won't get fill charge.

I just tried a usb extension cable that I had and it worked I.e. usb to female input, connected one end to the mains charger and plugged the usb sync and charge cable on the other and connected. My note now charges with a nice long cable.
An added benefit achieved with this extension cable is that when it is connected to the usb adapter for the note, different things like usb drives and hardware keyboards etc can also be used
I ordered one, from Amazon. Its a 6ft. Cable I believe. It does work and charge my note 10.1. But I swear it seems like it charges at a way slower rate. It took forever to charge. I took it off and put back on stock cable. Then it started charging alot faster. Even while using tablet while plugged in. I will test it out again later but I'm sure its charging at a slower rate compared to stock cable. And I think the newer longer cable I have is a Samsung approved one also.

anyone??
I'm having the same problem. The cable seems to be a bit loose and it has developed a crack on the micro usb side. When I use the cable to charge, it charges so slowly. If I use the phone while charging, battery % decreases. I have talked to samsung representatives, but because of the crack in the cable, they said they won't be able to replace the cable. I have to buy it for around 8 bucks (Rs 450 Indian). I'm currently using my Nokia e71 data cable to charge with no issues. It charges better than the original samsung cable.
The cables have a warranty of 6 months. So if you still have ur original bill, u can definitely ask for a replacement in case there's no physical damage.

The problem is that I bought it when I visited in Germany..
I dont understand why it happen suddenly, it was working 1 hour before I tried to charge it again.
Just go to any samsung service center with the bill. They should entertain your concern. Check out with a new cable. If it works it's the cable. If it's not charging then the problem may be in the female USB of the phone.

Problem charging - dodgy usb port?

My phone is having some issues charging. Firstly I took the phone to Canada for a fortnight from UK. The phone charged normally for about a week and then one day the battery got very low (3%) and the phone would take a charge. I dont know if this issue was caused by using a plug adaptor or by letting the battery run so low?
When i got home the phone wouldn't charge from the mains initially, but i was able to get it above 15% using a computer usb port and from the on it took a charge from the mains.
As of today it is now playing up again, it wouldn't take a charge from the mains overnight, but I think it is currently charging via my pc, though it seems to require the cable be held at a tight angle.
My wifes galaxy s2 had the same problems as my note 2 in canada, but we were never able to charge it when we got back to the uk. I am looking into replacing the usb port for the S2, so i was wondering if this was something I should be doing for my note 2?
How long is the Samsung Warranty? (phone is 18months old)
Are the usb ports easily replaceable?
Anything I should know before doing this?

Replacing Micro-USB charger cable

I have a Galaxy S4 i9505 with the original charger, although I had to change the cable to my shorter Nexus 7 cable since the connector on the end of the cable must have been damaged, I couldn't use my phone or it would keep changing and unplugging. Anyway, I bought a longer cable ages ago, at least 3 metres but the charging rate was rubbish. So I'm just curious if anyway has bought aftermarket USB to Micro-USB which has kept the same charge rate as their stock cable?
Thanks.

The cable doesn't really matter, as long as it's not some cheap eBay no-brand cable. Stick with OEM from a major brand, or Amazon Basics.
