Hello,
I'm using the Google Play Services debugger to debug why my notifications are delayed (we are talking 10 to 200 seconds delay).
Turns out my phone RECEIVES the push INSTANLTY, however, it takes a few seconds to a few minutes for my phone to display the actual notification. That's for Gmail, facebook, whatsapp, anything.
Any ideas what it could be?
I'm on the latest build (well, not the May one).
Nobody knows?
Did you solve your problem? As I’m having the same problem and I don’t know what to do, tried everything...

My TP2 has started beeping loudly at regular intervals. I thought it was new email notifications but this option is turned off. Also started to freeze a lot - in fact its just done it again. WTF is going on here? Help. Think might be associated with synced outlook email - not sure why?
Hi,
Basically it started happening before this release anyway but for example messages other than sms come late, like from whatsapp or tinder, wechat, etc. Mail application never notifies me of any email unless I bring it to the front and it checks that time. I set the checking time to every 15 mins so it's not me.
It's really annoying because it's not speed lag but notification lag and I am not running anything extra that I know of.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks.
No idea where to start. Even upgraded my phone to a S9+ six months ago in a desperate attempt to fix the issue(s).
YES - as per the Title, the issue is that I receive a notification from e.g Google Discover and although I see the notification (and it's short description/summary), when I click it (i.e. to open & read the story), the notification never actually opens. Well - that'd kind of a lie because it may open anywhere from 5 to 30 mins later. What's interesting is that this behavior is NOT seen on notifications from e.g. Google Messages or WhatsApp. So perhaps there seems to be a priority or white listing going on.
Here's where it gets even more interesting:
This extremely annoying issue will come-and-go i.e. just when you're ready to throw the phone in the ocean, it magically starts working again. After 1.5 years of living with this problem, I haven't managed to figure out what I've done to either fix or break it.
When I'm experiencing this annoying notification issue, I ALSO experience the following OTHER issues:
Apps that I download from Google Play will download to around 99% and just sit there and never "install" >> however like I mentioned above, that's somewhat of a lie because wait 5 to 30 mins and the App will magically complete the installation
YouTube will regularly crash
High battery consumption
Notifications for "big-name" apps like Outlook and WhatsApp are very irregular and in the case of Outlook, I wont receive anything for an hour and suddenly, I get a flood of notifications (one after the other at a "machine gun" frequency)
The point I make is whenever I have the problem with the Notifications explained above in [1] I will ALSO (concurrently) have the problems that I've mentioned above in [2].
It's like a horrible 2-for-1 deal.
Here's a bunch of things I've tried in the last 1.5 years:
Mentioned above, I've bought a new phone
Endlessly tried factory-resetting the phone >> on the last attempt, I even restrained from "restoring" the backup just in case
Removed my Google Account >> re-installed
Clearing cache from Play Store and Play Services
Uninstalled updates for Play Services
I'm totally out of ideas and sadly, totally out of patience. I have no idea where to turn because HTC (old phone) or Samsung (new phone) don't want a piece of my problem.
I'm convinced this is an account issue or perhaps some Google heartbeat issue but don't have the resource or knowledge to confirm it.
At your mercy
Hello everyone,
I know that my has always had problems with notifications on MIUI, but with the update to 12.5.1 the problems on my Poco f3 have increased, greatly increased, some apps like gmail receive notifications with huge delay, sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes even 30 minutes, sometimes only when I use the app, almost randomly
This is unacceptable to me, I need the smartphone for work and I cannot receive notifications with such high delays, do you also have this problem?
Now, gmail has never been perfect with notifications due to the absurd power saving system (Doze), the problem is that I am forced to use it because the corporate mail is google business and it cannot be configured with any other mail client, but the notification problems are there with all the apps.
Practically the smartphone does as it wants, sometimes notifications arrive immediately sometimes ...... when he decides.
Clearly I have configured the power management, automatic start (on gmail it is not possible), app lock from the home screen etc etc, everything useless....
So I ask, do I have to change my smartphone? , or in extremis I try to put a custom rom? is the doze system active on custom roms?
thanks for all your answers
First of all, try to factory reset your phone. And let see if everything start to work or stay the same.
Since on me (running miui ID 12.5.20) everything work just well, there is no delay notification at all. Of course i set up apps ON for "autostart" and set battery behaviour to "no restriction".
Has anyone else had this issue where you can hear the phone ring but it takes 5 to 10 second to see the display in order to answer?
Yes, had the same, no idea
Had this before,
Do you have more than two Google accounts on the phone? Try to remove one and see if it solves it.
No only one G-account
I have seen this issue. I think for me turning off adaptive battery for apps solved this for me. What annoys me the most is trying to hang up calls, where it takes over 3-5 seconds for the phone to respond to hang up, and multiple presses on hang up before it does, 9 times out of 10 the other end hangs up

Click to collapse
Have this as well, I've got my power button set to end calls and even that doesn't work
I've had this problem with my Note 4 a few times but I believe I had Power Saving mode turned on.
Is the call screening feature enabled?
I have the same issue ONLY when I have more than one Business Google accounts on the phone.
If I have multiple simple Google accounts and one Business G account then No Issues.
Adding one more Business G account triggers the delay.
Actually to be honest, you should try enabling the VoLTE on your phone. Pixel phone needs internet to be working for all services and apps to run smoothly. When an incoming call appears, it usually tries to grab the info from internet if the caller is a known profile. It used to happen with me, until I rooted and enabled VoLTE using magisk module because unfortunately my country is not supported for voice over LTE services on Google Pixel handsets.
