My TP2 has started beeping loudly at regular intervals. I thought it was new email notifications but this option is turned off. Also started to freeze a lot - in fact its just done it again. WTF is going on here? Help. Think might be associated with synced outlook email - not sure why?

Hi - it's windows device, so from time to time it hangs so much it requires the soft reset. (Other than that though, i love the device)
When it fires up again, it just completely flips out. Vibrating, constant repition of the 'calendar reminder' sound, goes on for about 5 - 10 minutes!
Then will either reboot itself, or come up all ok.
It's almost like it has 100 un-acknowledged reminders, i havn't dismissed and it's firing them at me. No messages on screne though.
Any ideas? without me having to do a full reset?
Thanks - Jam
I'm having ery strange issues on restart as well. I'm about to contact 02 about it as it's really ecoming unacceptable.
Issue i get is when the phone is switched on or restarted and there is a reminder or alert he phone boots through to the pin enty screen (required for email access on our servers) the alert pops up and phone imediately resets itself again, It did this today for over 30 minutes in a constant loop then starts working ok. I fly a lot so switch the phone off then on when I arrive and if I'm waiting for a pickup it's a real pain !
Any ideas on possible solutions?
Sounds like there is a problem with the Notification Queue on the Orbit (I have had similar problems on mine, when an alarm went off but I wasn't able to dismiss it.
There is a program called CheckNotification available at http://scarybearsoftware.com/cn_overview.html which allows you to view the queue and delete the recalcitant message. This program was not written for WM5 and you need to be careful when using it. In particular, do not use the "Clear" button or it will stop ActiveSync from working.
Same Problem PLEASE HELP!
Hi,
Please can someone help us! I'm so glad that it's not just me experiencing this weird behaviour.
My Orbit is going into a continous reboot cycle with it popping up reminders for me to dismiss, but before they can be dismissed the Orbit reboots again. The reminders come up just before you're required to enter the device passcode. It's a nightmare.
Also randomly occuring is the fact that the date gets put back to October 2006. Is anyone else experiencing this? Perhaps it's related?

I ended up getting a replacement phone from 02, this one seems to be ok but I've explicitly not set it up for mail yet (it seems that the problem was when it hit the start up pin that's required for email security). I'm going to try it on the WM6 upgrade and see if that helps.
Good morning,
I seem to have a slight problem. Whenever I take my phone off the silent mode (which is not a lot) and put it either on notify with a sound or buzz it does not do anything when I get a text unless I leave the screen on. Strangely enough it does work when I get an incoming call.
Is this because I have it on silent for days on end? Or is there something wrong?
Even though its not a massive problem for me, it is somewhat annoying sometimes, as at times I want to be notified
Hope someone can help me!
Regards,
priscilla
I believe this the same problem I am having! Was just about to make a post about it.
The message tone doesnt go off when the recieving a new message. Never really wondered whether it had anything to do with turning it off silent before though.
I've had mine for about a week and this issue is really frustraing me, as I've recently had a major ear operation which has rendered me half deaf. So its not helping much
Any help would be great!
Notification Reminder
I was having a lot of trouble with my new TP2 because I was missing all my notifications. The thing is in my pocket always but I had to pull it out and look at the screen every 15 minutes just to see if I was missing anything.
The solution for me is a program that I use on my Treo Pro:
http://discussion.treocentral.com/treo-pro/177846-treo-alert-pro-treo-pro.html
This nifty little thing will keep bugging you (if you want it to) until you pay attention.
giving this a bash, cheers mate
i had the same issue. i found two different problems. 1 touchflo would not enable all the sound when taken off silent. i disabled touchflo and had this problem again. after some research i went to settings/sounds and notifications/notifications tab. the box was unchecked for programs and alarms. checked the box no more problems

Ah, I think that that is my problem! I'll give it a try later as I'm off in a few minutes
A big thanks to all the other people that gave a solution too If this doesn't work, I'll try the program.
Hey all,
Have my phone on Vibrate and when I receive a Google mail the phone isn't vibrating and the LED isn't flashing. As far as I can see all options in Google mail and the phone settings suggest I should be getting both.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Russ
Hmmmmm a reboot seems to have fixed this, lets hope it doesn't get into a habit of it
didn't work for me, rebooted, but still no vibrate on new SMS, light flashing, tho
Apologize for cross-posting, but I'm getting frustrated with this. A reboot didn't help me either.
Everything was working before, but just today I noticed it refused to vibrate on email notifications. WinMo used to have a similar annoying bug, but it was related to replies. This bug is affecting all messaging notifications, i.e. Exchange, pop3, Gmail and SMS.
I've gone in to general settings and put vibrate on. I've gone into each account and turned vibrate on. I've gone into Messaging (SMS) and turned vibrate on. Vibrate is basically turned on throughout the system, but it's still not vibrating except for phone calls.
I've uninstalled all of the last apps I had installed to no avail.
Anyone with any advice?
Last resort could be hard reset

Not really keen on hard reseting, but will try that as a last resort.
I ended up fixing it with a hard reset.
First time around, I chose to reinstall the settings from the auto backup that was on the SD card, but I experienced the same behaviour.
Redid the hard reset and opted for cancel when asked about reinstalling the backup settings and all seems well so far.
Suspect it was a dodgy app or could have been that running the battery down flips a software switch to turn off vibrations, but the switch has a hard time flipping back. Will wait and see how long I can keep the vibrating notifications, but now I know how to solve it.
On another note, talk about a waste with that auto backup function. I mean, to really be useful you should be able to choose when it backs up and which backup you want to reinstall. Having it constantly backup settings like it does is bound to backup whatever went wrong in the first place. Oh well.
Hey guys, first post here of many hopefully.
Been following this thread from near the beginning and have finally got my hands on a HTC Desire via Vodafone Twitter deal
Absolutely love this phone and it's the envy of all my friends which is never a bad thing. I'm constantly discovering new things which is awesome and I'm pleased I came and saw the Android side.
Anyway, I've come across a problem.
When receiving texts, I've noticed that the phone will not vibrate. I've made sure that vibrate setting in the Messaging settings is green ticked and that Notifications is ticked. But still not working. It works when i'm rang just not when texted.
Have tried using Handcent messaging app but had the same problem... What can I do?
Thanks guys
I've had the same problem since I got mine two weeks ago.
Have you resolved this in any way? It's bloody annoying!
Hmm, strange... seems to work on my phone ok.
Since you have already tried Handcent, try the app "Sound Manager," from the Android Marketplace. Use "vibrate settings" toggled "vibrate whenever possible," and it see if that works.
Other than that, backup your data and try a hard reset (also try without SD card inserted) to eradicate any potential software bugs.
Tried sound manager, still no help.
I can get calls and notifcations to vibrate when on the normal profile and set them to vibrate, but on my normal profile I want sound only, so have vibrate turned off. When I change to the vibrate only profile, it will only vibrate for calls and not notifications.
Check out this thread too.

Is anyone else getting mystery vibrations? I keep getting vibes when I have no change in network, no new messages or emails, no new reminders or missed appointments. Sometimes it is a brief buzz and sometimes it just won't stop unless I wake the phone up.
I've also turned off vibrate alerts in settings > sound. This is driving me nutzo... last night it started vibrating and I let it go to see if it would stop. 2 minutes later it was still going.
It isn't just with one ROM either... It happened with the "Lite Leak" , Virtuous and Cyano6 roms also but never before I went Froyo. Anyone else getting similar vibes?
Don't mean to sound like a jerk, but are you sure it's really vibrating?
Lot's of people think they feel phantom vibrations.....
Google it, it's kinda funny reading

No, it is really vibrating...it woke me up rattling on my surf board the other night. Since I posted this is went off at 1:50 (short) then every half hour 2:20, 2:50, 3:20, 3:50 with the long vibrations where it WILL NOT stop unless I wake the phone up.
I think it is due to a problem with my contacts. When I saw the schedule on which it was happening I figured it must be a sync issue... Sure enough, "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." Bull crap!
So far I've backed up my contacts from gmail, deleted the contacts. Cleared them out of my contacts app data, reimported them into gmail and allowed a successful sync. Great, I thought...then a half hour later BZZZZZZZ
OK, next shot. manually edited my google.csv to clear any formatting under the NOTES column that said
!----HTC DO NOT EDIT ---
as this was only on people who I once associated with Facebook, and I am no longer subscribed to facebook and reimported, cleared Contact Data and resynced...So far, so good... But I am not so sure it will last longer than an hour.
Looks like killing the farce book tags from my contacts fixed it. No problems syncing and....so far.... no annoying vibraa-a-a-a-ations!
