I had this happen once (on a rooted ROM) and fixed it by going into the samsung keyboard settings and manually downloading the english keyboard. I can't remember if I had to delete the current language first, but it fixed it for me.

MMS problem because of cabs?

hey I was wondering if its possible for mms to not work anymore because of downlading new programs like games and swype. Im on T-Mobile and 2 days ago, my mms was working flawlessly and after downloading swype and a few other games and program, it doesnt work anymore. does anyone know why? should i call T-Mobile or is this a problem from the phone?
Swype could be the culprit, I haven't done any real testing, but seeing as how Sype interfaces with your messaging client in some way I would venture to guess that is a very possible scenario. Have you tried installing swype or switching back to XT9 via the SIP changer?
yes. i installed swype and it work real exceptional. i tried stwitching the different input methods as well.

I meant uninstalling swype, my mistake! I know swype does some funky things to our messaging, so uninstalling could eliminate that as a problem.
no success after uninstalling swype
i have a tilt 2 with swype installed.. i have no probs wit txts or MMS. the prob might b device specific if swype is the culprit. now ya got me wanting to double check..lol i know its good cuz i sent off some pix da other day. ima check though again to be sure. just uninstall it...soft reset...then see what ur MMS does then...if its still messed up, then its somethin else

how is this performed?
Start > settings > connections > connections > Manage.
I'm not sure what settings t-mobile uses though, maybe another t-mo user can help you out with that.
ORRR
You could call the number that programs your phone, it should do it automatically.
BUT, if you can access the internet via PIE or Opera browser then this point is null and void.
right. my old t-mobile dash used to have simular mms problems so i will give it another day. if no progress then i will surely call t-mobile. thank you for the help
I would definitely check Swype. It broke my email accounts on couple of occasions. If you want to keep Swype on your phone, I suggest you note your mms settings prior to installing the application so that you can go back and adjust them after installing it.

I performed the clear memory and reset factory settings. MMS working again. If it was not swype, its definitely some other program.

[Q] Desire SMS problem

Quite often (few times per day) when typing SMS, the keyboard stops responding for a few seconds then goes insane and starts typing random letters by itself, even sometimes holds backspace itself and deletes the whole message. I have to leave it alone for a few minutes/force close because otherwise it keeps on doing it. This only happens when typing SMS, no other app/activity is affected.
I have tried calibration reset which didnt work, and have also reduced the number of messages per thread from 100 to 30 which also hasnt worked. This is very frustrating, as sending SMS sometimes takes more than twice as long.
The phone has not always done this, just the last few months.
Running Froyo build 2.29.405.5 (latest one I believe)
Any solutions?
Has anyone else had this issue?
Well, you might first backup your messages, contacts and any other personal data using your favorite app (sms backup and restore on the market, for sms, and for contacts just sync them using your gmail account - titanium back-up for the rest - as suggestions), then do a reset to factory defaults.
Another solution would be to root then flash different roms, of course
or maybe try diffrent keyboard like htc_ime mod and change sms app to a 3rd party one (handcent or GOsms) and see if problem persists or wheter its keyboard or appliaction related

This is a last resort if all else fails.

The problem isn't keyboard related. I have tried Handcent which did not have the issue, but (suprisingly) I didn't get along with it, it was far slower than the stock HTC messaging so I switched back and stomached the issue I'm having. What is htc_ime?

I believe there is a program called GO SMS, or something similar, may be worth a shot

[Q] Go SMS and Handcent emoji stopped working

Exactly as the title suggests.. they had worked fine for a long time, then all of a sudden one day they stopped. Now when I send an emoji to an iphone user whether form the apps themselves (with respective plugins installed) or from the "emoji keyboard" app, they receive them fine and I can see the emoji in my conversation, but when they send one back all i see is either boxes or diamonds with question marks in them. Also, when someone sends me something like (^-^) it just leaves a blank space in the text. I don't know what the issue is, it doesn't seem to be ROM related as it just happened one day and I've updated the ROM since then, but I could try another ROM just to make sure.
My question is, has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone know how I might fix it?
I'm on the "Mother of all ROMs" with Ktoonsez kernel
Anybody? Self-bump... Still trying to fix this little issue
Hi,
Did you install any new updates or make any software changes, etc. before this happened? Because I know I have to fix my emojis everytime I flash a new 4.2.2 ROM. I sat here for 10 minutes trying to find the setting, but I can't remember it right now. The one I always have to mess with is not the enable emoji support one, but rather a setting SOMEWHERE on the phone that says "enable full unicode support" or something like that. I suggest you try to hunt it down since I can't find it myself :silly:
Also, this is my first post on xda. been lurking for a long time though
Listen up @Merckle @Amizzly @Branford
Uninstall Google Voice, go to google dot com voice, remove your sprint account. I believe you will find your emojis to be quite operational.
Additional steps if that doesn't work
Reboot to recovery, wipe cache, dalvik, and fix permissions. Reboot.

Issue with Google Keyboard personal dictionary on lollipop 5.02

I just updated my SM-T800 to lollipop 5.02 (T800XXU1BOCC_T800XAC1BOC4_XAC) and I'm using google keyboard. The problem I'm having is that I can't add words to the dictionary. ie. if I type "haha" I have the option of selecting "Hanna" or other similar words but I can't select "haha" and "touch to save" doesn't appear. I think there's a problem with the personal dictionary or loading the personal dictionary. When I go into [settings-general-language and input-google keyboard settings-google keyboard-text correction] and tap on personal dictionary I'm routed to wifi settings. I have tried a factory reset and reflashing the stock rom twice.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is anyone able to help?
No personal dictionary

Yes, I am.
The normal route to add to or edit sends me to my Network settings.
Using stock android, Google Now launcher. 5.0.2.android. Google keyboard
Had to reset tablet and reinstall everything. Since then...gone.
Annoying obviously.
No idea why, how it happened.

Hi. I have the same issue. Non more solution ?
This problem persists until now, June 2016.
Yes I have this also. Android 5.0.2 on a note pro tab. My phone (6.0.1) does not rout me to the wifi settings in the same way, but still seems to be missing the option to add words on the fly as you type them. Does this mean that the only way to add words to your personal dictionary is to record them somewhere and then do so directly via the settings interface? How archaic..
It also took me a while to realise that the settings can only be accessed via the comma button (long press) from the keyboard itself, as there is now no flag to alert you to this since the recent update, and apparently no other way in.
Nevertheless, and even in the absence of any 'add to dictionary' option, the dictionary did seem to fill up with endless amounts of partial, wrong, or capitalised words (for instance I just got 'Calif' when I typed the 'capit' just now - what is a Calif'???).
I deleted all data from the app, but still they come, as Jare said. I would love to be able to access whatever dictionary this thing is using, and kill it, because it is not English. If there is a supplementary dictionary of acronyms and abbreviations and cultural slang then that should be an option you can opt out of.
A Spell checker should never autocorrect to a word that is not correct in the language you are writing - this is rather obvious I would have thought. For people who work on this gear full time a bit more control would be great.
