I tried searching other threads but cannot figure out if the solution is the same for my problem. I accidentally selected to forget network on my Amazon fire stick and have misplaced the remote control so now I have no idea how to connect to my wifi network using only my phone. Any ideas? I cannot find the device when I open up the app because it is currently disconnected from the wifi. Am I out of luck until I get a replacement remote?
I have a similar issue. I install Kodi and Mobdro on friends and family fire tv sticks but sometimes they do not have the remote and they are on my wifi so i cant use my fire tv remote android app without the wifi turned on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm on my way to the Outer Banks for a week at the beach. I have my fire stick but forgot my remote. I've checked stores to get a replacement remote or compatible bluetooth controller, but no luck. I have a possible solution, but not sure if it would work. Let me know what you think.
I setup the hotspot on my phone to mirror my home network. I already know I can fool my fire stick to think I'm online. Then I can use my wife's phone with the Fire TV remote app to pair with the Fire stick.
The problem comes with connecting with the Wi-Fi network when we'll be staying. It's password-protected. The remote app will only work as long as I'm connected to my phone's hotspot. Will the Fire stick stay connected long enough for me to enter the password, or will it disconnect the second I click the preferred network?
Does anyone else have any other suggestions? Is there any way to manually learn the network and password before connecting to it using adb? Anybody?

If you have an Android phone with IR, something like "AnyMote" should. There are several ir remote emulators.

Fire Stick (or Fire TV) don't work off IR. They use Bluetooth.

if the tv you will have the firetv stick connected to is HDMI Cec compliant, make sure it's enabled on the tv, and you can use the tv's remote to operate the firetv stick.

Your simple solution is to plug in a USB mouse to the box and click away! Hope it helps... Thx

Oh, I like the Phone Manager app will all the extra features it brings to the table, but I have to disable it because otherwise apps will get closed in the background even if I have them set as "Protected".
So if it worked properly then I would be all for it

I don't have this issue unless I press the swipe to close (or close all) as long as I set them as protected. Imo Huawei just needs to fix/disable the swipe to close protected apps. It's also how the app is written and if it has a consistent notification setup because some apps do not get killed regardless of swiping up. Example is Alarm Clock xTreme.
The only thing I really wish I had control of in Phone Manager with Stock unrooted is Networked Apps and Permissions controls for system apps which is purposely disabled and is annoying. Perhaps AJ @ajsmsg78 will come up with a simple solution for this
In general though, it is great and I love being able to restrict permissions on the fly!

1. Can't use a use mouse. Repeat, Fire STICK.
2. I was successful with the app. I connected to my hotspot, then used the app to connect to the beach house, and I was able to enter the Wi-Fi password with the app. Then I just had to reconnect my device to the Wi-Fi and use the app with the preferred network.
Too bad the network sucks. Who uses DSL anymore?

Great thinking. Solved my problem!
Hi everyone, sorry my ugly English but I'm using a translator
My Canadian friend gave me an amazon fire TV stick but no remote control. I tried to download universal remote control applications but I can not connect it with my fire tv stick. I plugged the fire stick on the TV and it works but I can not make the settings because I'm without remote control. How can I do? thank you all
P.S. I am in Italy and amazon does not install me amazon fire tv and amazon fire tv remote app
Your Fire TV Stick needs to connect to a the internet to receive any data/commands from a universal remote app. I would recommend asking for your friends WiFi network name and password. Then create a mobile hotspot with the same name and password as your friend's network. The stick will connect and you can then configure the stick to use your own WiFi. If that is not possible a Ethernet to USB OTG adapter could provide the connection but that would require a v2 stick.
I lost my remote and did ot from my phone now my wifi has changed now i cant change the wifi password on the stick
Can you order a replacement remove from Amazon, should you lose it or it breaks?
We should have a replacemet:good:
same problem
I also lost my remote......moved to new spot and have a different wifi.....i purchased a new remote from Amazon.....i have tried everything to get it to pair.......could my fire stick be bad?
This should help has wifi and adb option.

Hello Experts,
I am stuck in a peculiar situation and would very much appreciate your help.
As the title says the remote to the stick has stopped working. I have tried replacing the batteries with fresh duracells and have tried to sync the remote countless times now but to no avail.
What makes the situation peculiar is that somehow my stick is not connected to my network anymore so I cannot use the remote app on my mobile to connect to the stick.
Is there anyone who was able to make their remote work?? Any suggestions??
Very simple situation :-
1. Remote broke months ago,
2. Always used the Fire TV Remote android app to control the stick.
3. One day my internet was lagging so I thought to disconnect and connect with the wifi.
>> as soon as I disconnected the wifi the app stopped working , and so I completely lost control of the stick.
Is there any way to connect with wifi so I can connect with the phone or vice-versa with the help of PC or rooted android.??
If anyone can help I will be a very grateful and it will save me from buying a new one.
Use CEC on TV , than you can use your tv Remote
Hi everyone
This is NOT the normal posting about pairing a remote to the Amazon Fire Stick. I have a Firestick and at the sign in page (where you connect your user account to Amazon) it is completely stuck. The remote does nothing.
Note:
The remote works fine on another Firestick
The batteries have been replaced and are OK
The usual tips for pairing the remote to the Firestick have all failed.
No matter what I do the remote will note pair (the remote is fine). I cannot get past the sign-in screen.
Does anyone know a way to reset the Firestick?
Has the Firestick gone completely?
Will ADB Link or other such device reset it?
Does anyone have any ideas please?
Thank you
3 options I can think of.
1) Use an OTG adapter and plug in a keyboard. Finishing signing in then navigate to the settings and pair the remote in the settings.
2) Same as the above except use the fire tv remote app on your phone.
4) Root the stick (if possible on your version) factory reset/wipe in TWRP. If that doesn't fully reset the device you can flash the stock firmware and it will restore it to the same state as it was out of the box, meaning the first screen will be on remote pairing.
I suspect what happens is the stick was deregistered. That usually brings up the sign-in page, and somewhere either the pairing was lost or that isn't the remote that was paired with that stick when it was deregistered.
Dear Sir
Thank you for your excellent, extensive response. However, I am unsure what TWRP is?
Thank you
I would highly suggest trying option 1 or 2 first. Option 3 requires rooting the stick and you should have a good understanding of what TWRP is before going down that path. Also you may or may not even be able to root it, depending on which you have and the software version it's on.
Hello it would have to be option 3. I tried the fire TV app and it would not install on either my phone or fire tablet. The only thing I cannot understand using TWRP is the tutorials I have seen say the Android device needs to have ADB Debugging ON.
Hardly a chance of doing it as I cannot access the device in the first place!!!
I will have a go and see what comes up.
Cheers
Using TWRP requires unlocking the device, and unlocking the device requires an older firmware that is vulnerable to an exploit. I don't know which Stick you have or your firmware version, but if the Stick has received an update since March, then there is no way to unlock it currently.
If you had TWRP, you wouldn't need to enable ADB debugging in FireOS, because TWRP includes it's own ADB binary that it enables.
Have you already tried the FireTV app on a phone/tablet? When you choose setup a new device, I thought the phone communicated with the Stick via Bluetooth?
Hello Finnzz!
thank you for the input.
I did try and install FireTV on my kindle tablet but it won't install for some reason.
I am not aware of the phone or device connecting via bluetooth (I thought it was only the remote that came with it that did that) but if it does connect with bluetooth I cannot get into the Firestick to actually connect to wi-fi or to turn on bluetooth devices! So, I am stuck!
Just to clarify, I'm talking about the FireTV app for Android.
Amazon Fire TV - Apps on Google Play
Simple navigation, a keyboard, plus voice search for Fire TV.
play.google.com
When using that app on your phone, and selecting:
'set up new device'
Then:
'Fire TV'
This will search for FireTVs via Bluetooth. Bluetooth is turned on by default on the FireTV. The stock FireTV remote connects to the Stick using Bluetooth, so it has to be on.
If you are using a FireHD tablet download the FireTV app from the Amazon app store, don't sideload the Google Play Store version.

Edit: Also, have you already tried resetting the remote?

If your remote isn't working, try resetting it.

Hello
Thank you for the reply. Just to make sure does the Firstick need to be connected to wi-fi in order for bluetooth to work because if that is the case I cannot turn on wi-fi.
Thank you

Have you already tried the remote reset procedure linked to above? This is the first thing you should try. Simply taking out or replacing the batteries does not reset it.
Did you already try using the FireTV app on another Android device? I wouldn't think that if the app is communicating via Bluetooth for setup that WiFi was needed. Try it and see
Bullseye!!!
Nailed it finally and the recommendation you put forward (Fire TV app) worked a treat. It amazed me how fast and responsive it was.
Without your assistance I thought the Firestick was ready for the bin.

Glad you got it sorted. Sorry for my misinformation, I wasn't aware the app commuted with the stick over Bluetooth.
