Can I still root? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I have a Nexus 7 2013. It is running Android version 6.0.1, the August 5,2016 security patch, and build number MOB30X. I have been searching and looking for a guide to root. Most of what I have found is before August 5,2016. I haven't messed with Root since my Note 3. I am hoping someone can help guide me in the right direction. I am wanting to try new roms with my Nexus 7 since google is no longer updating it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just install twrp and flash super su and you should be good

[Q] 4.4.3 Bootloader?

Hi, I was looking to update my Nexus 7 2013 Wifi to Paranoid Android's recent RC1 update with 4.4.3. I'm currently running an old build from May so I'm still on 4.4.2.
Before I update to PA RC1, I want to have the latest bootloader from 4.4.3, but I can't find it anywhere. Could anyone provide a link? I'd appreciate it very much.
That's because there was no bootloader update, it's still using 04.02 which was first released with KOT49E/4.4.1

That would explain why I found nothing, thank you.

In the future, if you ever need to obtain the latest bootloader (or any older bootloader), you can always download the factory image for the version you're looking for and extract it from the zip.

Nexus 7 w/ LTE - Still on 4.4.4; Update to 5.1

Hey folks,
Somehow my 2013 Nexus 7 w/ LTE got skipped on updates. It is still running 4.4.4. This is even after a device reset recently, which I thought may "kick" the update to occur. It is not rooted or running any custom ROMs. So I will just need to do this on my own. I bought the device directly from Google and had it on the Verizon network for the last year or two, if that means anything.
So now I am looking to manually update it to 5.1 and beyond.
1) Will I be able to go directly from 4.4.4 to the most recently 5.1 release (I saw something with a Stagefright fix was recently release by Google), or will I need to go from 4.4.4 to 5.0 to 5.1?
2) Should the directions to install the releases be similar to those I frequently see that explain how to install a new update before Google OTA's it?
Thanks for the assistance!

Regarding updating to 5.1.1 or higher

Was given back my Nexus 7 (2013) tablet and was thinking about updating it. Currently rooted running on a 4.4.4 rom (purity). Is there any new basebands/modems that I need to flash/update before flashing a 5.1.1 or higher rom? Would appreciate any pointers, thanks in advance!

Is root still possible?

I've had the S8+ since release but never needed or really wanted to root until now. I got the OTA Oreo update installed, but then downgraded back to 7.0 with baseband BRB1. I have been trying to flash this samfail method but with no luck with V1 or V2 BL. I haven't really been involved with rooting and roms for about 8 yrs. So any help or direction will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
If you are back to 7.0 and you still on v1 look for Rootjunky video on how to root you device on you tube.
the samfail method didn't work for me but the SamPWND did.
Thanks for the reply but I canned the S8 today for the pixel 2 xl
For anyone who is still wondering this, yes you can root on V2 Bootloader. Just follow this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...root-partcyborgrom-aqk3-samfail-odin-t3717702.
