Got a new update for my K10-420ds. Just added an emergency button on power off screen a narrower notification panel and just some tweaks and supposedly updates to 5.1.1. I think this might be the final update for this phone. Just wanted to let you know. Does this mean that now the bootloader is unlock able?

Seems like you are late buddy. I already posted about the update long back. I also uploaded the firmware file if you ever need to refresh your phone.
Nougat will be coming for the phone according to some news articles.

I am sorry but what you are trying to say is Snap 410 models of K10 are gonna be updated to Nougat? I've seen the article but upon asking the same to the CC, they just say that they are not allowed the disclose unlike Samsung who just said that my J7 Prime is gonna get a Nougat update and If at all they are gonna release an update for K10's, it would definitely be for the MTK models. I dont know to any extent but is it really possible to directly upgrade from Lollipop to Nougat. Just not so knowledgable in this Upgrade stuff.

Yup this update N would be for MTK variants only. Why? because the LGk10 2017 is MTK variant only. Probably the Nougat which is built-in in 2017 will just ported to MTK 2016 variant like k430dsy

No not true bro. Most of the Qualcomm based phones have higher RAM like K420DS (Indian Variant) has 2 GB RAM and I believe that they will release Nougat for Qualcomm too.
As you know they always release new updates to Korean variants first.
Korean variants are : F670L,S etc. They have Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 same as other Qualcomm models except LG MS428. So I believe strongly it will be released for Qualcomm soon!

Download app "AIDA 64" tap on cpu, and you will have listed cpu socket.
And no you will most likely not get nougat, none of 2016 models will. Specially mediatek versions, because of they are mediatek.

Because you don't launch next generation of phones if you are going to update software on last generation. Especially when is case of mid-range phones. Mid range phones are made to 'be' one year, then new generation comes up with new software and so on.. One more thing, phones that aren't flagships and have mtk chipset - the one that got any software update are rare (you can say that isn't any out there)

But wouldn't you think that that Snapdragon editions would feature at least 7.0? I mean some of the components that make the 2017 K10 "new" aren't involving the software. It's mainly the hardware. A fingerprint sensor, better battery, and expanded ram are what would pull for an upgrade. I agree that the MTK variants are out of the question, but I feel like nougat isn't to far of a stretch for the Snapdragons

Yes, there are new hardware things, but not big deal only fingerprint sensor the rest is just better version so it handles nougat smooth. I don't think that they will give nougat for just a half or ¼ devices (I don't know how many % are snapdragon versions) that's logic you must agree.

The first LG K10 2017 variant has MTK SoC and Mali GPU thats why I think they just gonna release it first on MTK 2016 variant. Well good luck for all of us with this rumors I wish Android N had no compatibility issue with some previous games and wish it can have root access also.

Yes you can have nougat on k10 but only if you buy 2017 K10
Seriously now, since there is next gen of K series there is 0,001% chance of getting nougat, besides that there is K10's with mtk chipset which is know for not getting too much updates.

Actually, I've been following up on the news for the 2017 K10. Its only been released in india as of now, and looking at some other phones which had a similar lifetime (being recreated with the same name), it's possible that companies like at&t may not sell this phone. And if that's the case, then the likelihood of a nougat update (from said companies) is great. Offering a low budget phone like the K10 that has the latest OS is a great way to improve sales. I also don't thinks it's a fair assumption to say that there's a 0.001% chance. At&T just updated the g5 this last week.

Hello,
My friend owns a Samsung Note 3 Neo (N-7502) and he wants to update it because it never got any updates from Samsung from the day he got it (Still running 4.3 and other versions at 5.1.1 already....)
I know there's more than a topic of discussions about this, but there's no answers so I thought the people who could help didn't notice this...
It could be CyanogenMod or anything else, just something newer, better.
He could sacrifice the usage of the 2nd sim card for now if that's the only way.
Please if you know a way, help.
Thanks
My girlfriend owns one too. I've searched in a lot of places, but people said that installing something of the single SIM variants on a dual SIM one won't work. If someone knows how to make it work, please tell us.
*Bump*
I've searched a lot for a solution but I couldn't find any.
Would installing a different model's (N7505) rom work?
Would it even boot up?
It is a totally different phone
Duos variant is qualcomm based while other variants are exynos so no ROM other than stock will work for it for now
There is some hopeful trials to build cm12.1 ROM by Firelord but till the moment we are speaking there is nothing
Hope for the best
Best Regards

I had higher hopes.. According to PhoneArena the 750 variant is the one with Qualcomm and the duos (7502) is similar to 7505 processor wise.

I'm not sure developers will bother.. But I hope they will.
I don't understand the reason for this... Qualcomm is the most popular processor manufacturer of CPUs so it'd be easier to create a ROM or edit an existing one to work on this phone... I don't understand why the exynos ones are getting more attention.

K series (prevously L series) is mid range phones and much variants have mediatek chipsets who doesn't share sources. Point of not sharing is that you must buy new generation phone/chipset to get newest software, so basically mid range phones lasts one year until next generation comes out with newest software (in this case K10 2107) . So there is very small chance of getting Nougat, i would like that but I don't hope too much.
But the specs are the same

We will be getting Nougat for sure! We have almost the same specs has LG K10 2017.
Yeah but he is right, I guess not a 100% since they say that K10 2017 has a GPU of Mali T860 which is capable of handling Vulkan API. While most of 2016 mtk variant has Mali T720 :c too bad so sad.

The only reason why I like Nougat are the multi screen and Vulkan API. But 2016 has mali t720 while the 2017 has t860 which is capable of vulkan. Another thing is the metal backpanel of 2017 looks good
We expect these LG devices will be treated to Nougat soon:

LG Spirit

The article does say about it.
I don't think so, but i would like it
Sent from my LG-H440n from Serbia
While this does sound great, it does sound a bit too great imo. The article doesn't say if it was announced, or even rumoured from the inside - it's just their own speculation. Nevertheless, hope it pans out.
There's no way we're getting Nougat. Also 1GB is a bit too low for Nougat. I hope I'm wrong though. I noticed that they "expect" OP2 and X to get Nougat, but it's widely known by now that they're doomed in terms of official software updates.
I don't think we're getting nougat update at all. They've released many devices after spirit with mm on them ,so they'll prioritize them first and lg never gave more than a single os update to their mid range devices.
LG Stylo 2, that phone got Nougat update, but hw is a bit same with spirit, also there are config files in kernel. They could made it as I was managed to boot Nougat on Spirit! :d
So here in Brazil LG has recently (March 2017) released the LG K10 "Novo" (Portuguese for "new"), which is a sort of second-generation K10. Unfortunately I could not find information about it on other markets, though I read a rumor that it would be released in other countries as the "LG K20". It features slightly improved hardware (1.5gh quad core processor, 2gb of RAM, NFC, double download speed, OTG USB), a major exterior redesign (the most noticeable change is that the volume buttons were moved to the side) and comes with Nougat pre-installed, with a very different interface in general.
My question is: is this phone likely to get any attention here on XDA? In case LG doesn't decide to release it in other markets, which would seem unlikely, can we still expect rooting, custom roms and other customization for this phone in the future?

We can't tell anything about rooting, custom roms and stuff until it is released.
I can confidently tell you that the LG K20 is absolutely not the same phone as LG K10 Novo / LG K10 2017.
LG K20 does not appear to have NFC, has a quad core processor instead of an octa core, has a slightly lower mAh value battery, seems not to support USB OTG, is available in 32GB storage version too, and has more minor differences.
(Also it goes by the name LG K20 Plus or LG K20 V).
For the rest I must say the whole releasing logics of LG confuse me a lot with all the new editions, different names around different areas, etc.

This would be so cool! I am currently enjoying something similar (in terms of using the phone on a large screen keyboard mouse etc) with HP Elite X3, but the apps are limited for Windows mobile, so I would rather use the dock which came with HP for my LG V30...
I am currently on Android 9, everything works well so far, I would rather not reinstall everything (by trying Android 10) only to find out that something does not work. The video shows it working on V50, no guarantee that it will work on our V30.

You are talking about LG stock firmware feature for Android 10. We don't have that and never will.
It's not just vanilla "Android 10". Maybe AOSP devs can add that feature in their "Android 10" ROMs?
I am not a developer, just was able to follow ChazzMat's guide to get Pie and root..
So, if something is not officially provided by LG for V30, it cannot be ported from its younger brother, V50?
I really don't know, is that what you are saying?
I thought lg confirmed android v10 for v30s? Or way it just from some random blog?

Yeah, random blog thing where they don't really know what they are talking about. I read that months ago and got excited, then re-read it and realized they didn't quote any LG sources -- it was their own speculation based on flawed reasoning.
LG V30 (all variants) launched with Nougat and get the two OS upgrades LG always gives. Oreo. Pie.
Plus LG signed Google Enterprise Recommended Device agreement which promised 90 day security updates for two years + one OS update. However, that agreement was predicated on being on Oreo. So, that OS update would be Pie. Once on Oreo, we did start getting more timely updates for awhile and now MOST have Pie. (A few still don't.) Maybe once everyone gets on Pie we will start getting 90 day security updates again? But the two year window ends around mid-year 2020, if the clock started once on Oreo.
The flawed reasoning of that blog for Android 10 was because ONE V30 variant was released in 2018 with Oreo: V30S. So, they thought since the 2018 G7 and V40 are getting Android 10, that the V30S would also. NO.
The V30S was a marketing gimmick by LG to try to compete with the early 2018 Galaxy S9/S9+ which had the new Snapdragon 845. Samsung had exclusive rights to that for a few months. So, LG re-released Snapdragon V30+ with 6GB RAM (and Oreo) and tried to claim it was a "new" phone with "ThinQ" AI cam! It wasn't. It was merely V30 updated to Oreo prior to going on sale vs all the other V30 which then got the SAME "ThinQ" Oreo update a couple months later. All V30 on Oreo or later are ThinQ -- V30S was just first. The only difference for the V30S is it has more RAM.
V30S was RELEASED with Oreo already installed -- but was not LAUNCHED with Oreo. If it was LAUNCHED with Oreo it would have Treble. All NEW phones with Oreo (or later) are required to have Treble. V30S does NOT have Treble, nor does any V30 have Treble. Besides the name (V30S) this lack of Treble proves the V30S was an already-existing phone not bound by Oreo requirements for new phones.
Yet, the 2018 G7, V35, V40 all have Treble because they were indeed new phones LAUNCHED with Oreo. Those three phones are eligible for Pie and Android 10. (They already have Pie.)
2018 V30S is a remodeled house, not a brand new house. It's still a V30 "Joan" Snapdragon 835 phone -- a series which LAUNCHED with Nougat and has received all the OS updates promised to it.
Having said that, there's no law that says LG can't give Android 10 to any phone they wish -- V10, V20, V30... But LG doesn't make any money creating, testing, rolling out updates for old phones. They make money selling new phones.

Yes, possibly devs can port that LG stock firmware feature to AOSP LOS-17/Android 10 ROMs for the V30.
I'm not a dev either.
