SM-N7502 Not even getting KITKAT, How can I get it myself? - Galaxy Note 3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
My friend owns a Samsung Note 3 Neo (N-7502) and he wants to update it because it never got any updates from Samsung from the day he got it (Still running 4.3 and other versions at 5.1.1 already....)
I know there's more than a topic of discussions about this, but there's no answers so I thought the people who could help didn't notice this...
It could be CyanogenMod or anything else, just something newer, better.
He could sacrifice the usage of the 2nd sim card for now if that's the only way.
Please if you know a way, help.
Thanks

My girlfriend owns one too. I've searched in a lot of places, but people said that installing something of the single SIM variants on a dual SIM one won't work. If someone knows how to make it work, please tell us.

*Bump*
I've searched a lot for a solution but I couldn't find any.
Would installing a different model's (N7505) rom work?
Would it even boot up?

It is a totally different phone
Duos variant is qualcomm based while other variants are exynos so no ROM other than stock will work for it for now
There is some hopeful trials to build cm12.1 ROM by Firelord but till the moment we are speaking there is nothing
Hope for the best
Best Regards

I had higher hopes.. According to PhoneArena the 750 variant is the one with Qualcomm and the duos (7502) is similar to 7505 processor wise.
Is that wrong?

See that page :
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_3_neo_duos-6015.php
Also i got build.prop which confirms this
Also all kernel sources from Samsung
Knowing that the device is qualcomm based gives me hope that it may get CM ROM
Anyway, We need some attention from more developers
Best Regards

I'm not sure developers will bother.. But I hope they will.
I don't understand the reason for this... Qualcomm is the most popular processor manufacturer of CPUs so it'd be easier to create a ROM or edit an existing one to work on this phone... I don't understand why the exynos ones are getting more attention.

According to https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ MSM8228 board is used by Samsung G800H (Galaxy S5 mini) and N7502. Also google shows HTC Desire 816 Dual Sim based on the same board and looks like that's all. But these other devices already have custom roms.

Please build a ROM for sm n7502 dual sim variant

Custom ROM's, how long will they be MIA?

Is there any development at all going on for this device?
Yes. I know 3 people including me who have made or are making roms but arent releasing yet for various reasons. Just be patiant. Im personally waiting until official OTA MK1 for UK before making any roms public. Some people mignt be waiting for other things or want to add a lot of polish. Just be patiant.

It's great you're working on this tablet. I had a Tab 7 Plus with Exynos processor and there was no development on it whatsoever due to the processor. I am hesitant to get this Note 10.1 with Exynos processor but my question is are they still locked down? Has Samsung given developers what they need to fully unlock this device and mod it? If this tablet is locked down (besides the Knox tripping), then I will wait for the Snapdragon 800 version. Any insight to hackabilty would be appreciated.

It will trip Knox but you can root and we have TWRP recovery on the Exynos version.

Awesome! Is there anything the Snapdragon version will be able to do that the Exynos version can't? Full ROMs possible with this Exynos versus previous Exynos tablets? Are all kernels and all other source codes needed for modding made available now by Samsung? No encrypted unlockable bootloader?

Snapdragon a bit faster GPU and Exynos a bit faster CPU. The kernel source is posted:

The bootloader is unlocked.

[Q] CM Support for Note 3,will it help us?

www.muktware.com/2013/12/cyanogenmod-source-code-samsung-galaxy-note-3-now-available/18304
The sources are also available for various versions of Note 3. With similar hardware, would this make porting CM for our tablet any easier?

I would imagine so, but isn't the note a snapdragon device? I know ours uses both depending on the model, but a lot of the devs hate exynos.

Note 3 international version uses Exynos 5420, the same as P600 and 601.

And from the Muktware article, CM supports Note 3 International version

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 GT-P5210 Downgrading

I have a SGT 3 GT-P5210 running Android 4.2.2 . But for some developing reasons I want to downgrade it to 4.0.3 ICS.
I have searched a lot on the web, but I couldn't find not even 1 ROM for 4.0.3 dedicated for my device.
I also have a look at this xda thread but nobody gives an answer in the end: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582179
I am actually thinking that it is completely impossible to find a ROM for my purposes, due to many reasons.
Is this right? Or does anyone have a link at such a ROM?
The scenario of just trying to flash a ROM of SGT 2 won't work due to the Intel Atom Processor of GT 3...Not saying that it could work otherwise...
Thanks in advance.
If you every heard of porting then google how to port and there is a lot of guides, so that can help you make a rom for your own then if it works upload it and share it with community

I googled for porting and I found some very interesting articles and guides. But it seems it is not possible for my purposes. The Port ROM has to be for the same processor type (Galaxy Tab 3 -> Intel Atom) and of the same manufacturer as of the Base ROM's (Samsung doesn't have an Intel tablet with Android ICS available..). In some guides I also read that the Android versions have to be of the same type, which is the opposite of what I want.
Porting from Galaxy Tab 2 will ,almost definitely, won't work since it has an ARM processor. But I will try it to ensure that it will fail.
Building from source is also impossible, because several vendor components will be needed, which are proprietary, and as a result, unavailable.
I will let you know when I brick my Tab 3 with Tab 2 ROM.

Why are you so n00b ???
Trying to flash a Tab 2 ROM on a Tab 3 ?
Architectures are VERY different,
Processor are different,
GPU are different,
RAM modules (DDR3L vs DDR2) are different,
Sound Cards are different,
So how could you port this ?
Have you already wondered WHY development of Tab 3 10.1 is too SLOW ?
Good luck with your port.
Btw, if you want the most smoothest ROM released for Tab 3 10.1, flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2693396 :good:
It's an awesome rom with many features like Multi-Window

Note 7 advice

Hello all,
I am quite interested in this phone cause I am searching for a Nexus 6 successor and I depend on wireless charging. Sadly there are no high end smartphones which will deliver this feature anymore.
Therefore I have two questions:
1. At this time there are two threee custom ROMs for the exynos variant and no for the snapdragon. Will that change?
2. How likely there will be an AOSP ROM and what version (snapdragon or exynos) will suffer most from bugs then?

I know, that is the reason I am asking two questions about ROM development and advice about choosing snapdragon or exynos
Ah I'm sorry I misunderstood. I can't speak for the snapdragon but I have the exynos and it's awesome. Excellent battery life and no heat issues. Sure I have read that the exynos is better for rooting but haven't looked into it in depth as I'm happy on stock for a while. I'm sure someone will be able to help soon.
get an exynos, more development

Development for the s9/s9+

Hi,
I was thinking about getting the s9+ but I noticed that there are not many roms for the phone, is there any reason for that?

So the exynos model is not locked?
I was thinking about getting the sd845 model because the performance appeared better, but if it's a cumbersome model to work with and the exynos is better for development. Then maybe one should aim for that model instead.
Wouldnt go for a Samsung phone if you want great custom rom support. Its split between exynos and snapdragon AND you will have to stay with samsung experience roms if you want to have a camera that is not garbage.
Exynos battery isn't as good as snapdragon
