Replacement Battery - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

Anyone know where I can get an OEM replacement battery for an HD Fire 7" "D025"? The only one i've found that i'm certain will fit is $46. I'd rather buy a new Kindle for that price.

Useful and Inexpensive Alternative Charger

Lot's of folks are thinking about charger alternatives for their Kindle Fires.
Thought I might contribute what I think is a good choice and get some feedback.
I carry this with me everywhere and use it for my ipod Classic, Blackberry phone, Kindle Keyboard, wife's Droid X and, of course, iPad. I just use the other cords when required.
I got my all-round 5.1V 2.1 Amp USB Charger from eBay for around $6.00.
It's the Apple iPad Charger from its China sources.
Haven't used it yet on my Kindle Fire (i'm waiting for delivery Jan 3) but it is spec'd to work fine.
Search: USB 10W iPad Wall Charger
I saw a rocket fish USB wall adapter at bestbuy today for $15 that had 2.1 amp output
I wouldn't personally use an apple product.... they could by all purposes put battery killing code in there and malicioiuslly harm any non ios system. Not if I was paid 100 bucks

I've been charging mine with my vibrant usb/wall charger...it's slower than the kindle stock wall charger but it does work.

Seriously?
I charge mine from whatever pretty much. USB, 2.1A and 1A wall chg, 800ma, 1A, 2A car charger. It'll charge from anything, just at different rates obviously. The only issue I've had is it doesn't like my retractactable USB cable for charging.

i love the way you think...
the charger that came with my kindle fire did not work, i even checked it out with my inspire 4g and it didnt do anything. so ive been using my inspire charger for the fire, and i def want a different charger.
i contacted amazon and since i purchased my fire from a target store they wanted me to place an order for one and be waved the 25 dollars after i was already charged for it. call me paranoid, or on a tight budget, lol, i would like to find a cheap charger that works good.
maybe something like ten dollars max at a store so i can use it right away.
Just be careful about those cheap Chinese models that are claiming 2.1 A output. There are LOTS of bogus ones out there that can't actually do more than 400 mA or so. Search around and you will see lots of complaints from folks who got ripped off.
I'm a big fan of the Belkin F8Z630 USB charger. You won't get it for $6.00 (at least not legitimately), but it will absolutely deliver a solid 2.1 A at 5 Vdc. Plus, it can be used worldwide (100-240 Vac, 50-60 Hz), and the rotating plug feature is handy. It folds up nicely for storage in your briefcase.
I picked up a blackberry playbook power supply which has the same output that the KF has for $14 off of Amazon on sale. The charger has a fixed micro USB attached to it.
It even came with a good micro USB cable with it a well.
apple charger
I use a $5 micro to usb2 cable and my iphone wall charger and it works fine. It actually charges faster than my stock KF wall.charger.
For those looking for a good charger, the hp touchpad travel charger is an excellent compact charger that works great. Less than $12 on amazon.
As a spare charger, I'm using an older Motorola cellphone charger, with a mini to micro USB adapter I picked up on Amazon. I went with the $4 version made my Motorola. I have a few of the no name ones and they don't work for this application.

[Q] Is this a good buy?

So I have been looking around on eBay and Amazon for a spare battery and dock charger for it. I ran into this one which will be linked, but I don't know the brand or if anyone has any experience with this. I know they have the OEM ones, but those go for well over $35. I am on a tight budget as almost everyone and just looking for alternatives to save a few bucks, or should I just get the OEM or a different brand. I would appreciate any feedback and Thanks in advance.

I have the OEM charger and its awesome. Comes with a battery too. Don't know about the one in the link. Battery may not have NFC capabilities either ....just my 2 cents. I got mine shipped from Amazon for like $35.00. Its well worth it if you ask me. Good luck.

Qi Receiver pad (doodad?) for Kindle Gen1?

Hi, I got a case of Qi envy after seeing a friend who has a qi enabled device (that and the fact that my kindle usb plug is a bit loose). I was trying to find if anyone knows of receiver pads (I think that’s the right terminology, the thing that goes in the tablet, not what one puts the tablet on) out there that would work on the kindle gen1. Mine is still humming along ok, not planning to get another one for at least a year so this would be really quite handy!
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated!

Qi Wireless Charging for HDX 7"

I didnt really like how the microusb fits into the port at an angle and was also interested in how the new nexus 7 has qi wireless charging capabilities so i looked into the technology and found that it can be added easily to the HDX without any modifications or warranty voids. I simply plugged the receiver into my HDX and taped it to the back of my tablet. Than i place my MoKo case back on my tablet and to my amazement it was able to charge through the case. It charges somewhat slower than my 2 amp charger directly connected, which is expected. I am more than happy with the results though. If anyone wants pictures just let me know!

Sound good... I'm curious though how far the USB sticks out from the side

its not even noticeable to me. if you dont use a case then this probably would be very noticeable. Theres no way i would pay $159 for this tablet and not put a screen protector and case on it straight out of box.

Do you do all your file transfers by wifi then?
usually yes. if the file isnt large i will use ES file explorer. if the file is large i can always unplug the qi charging receiver usb from the port and plug in the data usb. I do all my movie streaming via my NAS server/networked computers and BSplayer app. BSplayer plays any media file i throw at it rather local or networked.
So it's pretty thin, eh? Wonder if it affects the magnet-sticky Origami case? Hmmm... I need my USB port on my phone for my nav dock, but I *can* try the wireless for the Kindle...
It's a buck cheaper on Amazon with shipping, BTW.

I wanted to be sure it wasnt coming from china so I ordered from ebay.
But it Blocks the USB Port...???
Stupid question / comment deleted. Didn't see the pictures.
Thanks for doing the "research and testing" for us, jeffsrawr... I just jumped on the bandwagon to do the same to our brand new HDX 8.9... your pictures and links were VERY helpful!
Is there any bulge in the back of the case, I'm just wondering if its at all noticeable that the qi reciever is stuck on the back whilst it has the case on.

If it's the Origami case you wont' even notice as that has a hard rear shell.

its super thin... like a business card thickness. i sold off my hdx because i got tired of the amazon fire os menu crap on the side. im glad i sold it as now the root is broken with the automatic update. it will be a great device once the bootloader is cracked... thats if it ever is cracked. hdx was fastest tablet i have tried but nexus 7 just has better customization and and overall experience for me.
i just moved the qi charger pad over to the nexus 7 and it works great on it too. (its 2012 version without qi built in)

The kindle menu really annoyed me aswell, luckily there is a way to remove it. https://plus.google.com/106179306926528043289/posts/3HyS7rVWEp5
The app is called GMD autohide soft keys https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.hidesoftkeys. Also there are various ways to block updates for kindle OS until the new ones are rooted.
Just some further info. I got an iBlason case for our HDX 8.9, and the wireless charger is just a tiny bit out of range to work with the thick-ish case. Too bad, as I can't charge through the case, but the wireless takes priority, so that's staying on. Our old tablet had many issues with the charge port, so keeping the port from getting worn is the bigger priority for me. Thanks again for the idea on getting this to work... I may have to do this with more devices in the future
Question for others who have done this - does your tablet make noises (squealing and clicking) when charging wirelessly like this? When the battery is low, it's louder, so I don't notice this very often, but I was just wondering. Maybe it has to do with the type of wireless charger or something?
I experienced no noises whatsoever.
What's the difference in charge speed compared to cable? About half? More than half?
Hi,
I'm having issues charging my HDX now and was wondering if you can provide pictures on how you are charging it wirelessly. Thank you.

Thread is 18 months old; doubt you will get a response from an OP. The HDX does not have an embedded Qi receiver. You'd need to use something like this which still utilizes the micro USB port. It that's your problem wireless charging won't help.
Yes, sorry for the lack of reply... didn't see this post. Like Davey126 said, you need a wireless charging receiver which connects to the USB port. If your existing port isn't working, then this probably won't work either.
I taped mine to the back of the tablet, similar to what is shown here: https://community.smartthings.com/t/faq-affordable-hardware-dashboard/36044 (second-to-last picture in the article). I did this proactively since I have had tablets before that broke the USB connection, so I did this from day-1 to ensure the port wouldn't wear-out with use... and it's been working great.
I don't have charge timing information, sorry... it's actually my wife's tablet, and she only charges it when needed and usually overnight. Honestly, due to the large battery in the HDX 8.9, it doesn't seem to need charging very often, which is great...

Custom Battery Case [Noob Question]

So I have seen the reviews on that incipio off grid battery case, and I couldn't help but come up with the ludicrous idea of building a Fire Phone case with 3-D printed materials. In other words my question is, is it possible to 3-D print a case which is the frame for a battery (likely an older phones battery) and wiring connected to a micro USB plug to charge the phone? And, if so will the battery from a different phone work in that condition?
-Thanks
