I have had my 5x almost 5 months now and i have been experiencing very slow WiFi download/upload speeds, but on gplay store i get very high speeds, I've read that turning on Bluetooth helps but this doesn't work for me, I this a software issue, or possibly a hardware issue? Any suggestion would be appreciated. This problem has persisted over android versions (6.0-7.1.1) i have the latest radio installed (installed it using the zip here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/nexus-5x-radio-bootloader-recovery-t3433638)
Thanks.
Firstly, I wouldn't recommend installing any 3rd party radios in situations like this. Because if you are confident that Google Play downloads work reasonably fast, clearly your radio is OK.
The issue must be something else then -- for instance badly setup DNS or your router in general (which just happens to have Google server correctly cached).
Lastly, I'm 100% sure Bluetooth doesn't help Wi-Fi at all, it's the other way around -- if BT and Wi-Fi shares the same antenna, hardly they can help each other, they must multiplex each other, leading to more slowdowns.
every few weeks for some strange reason I get slow internet while connected to wifi, pages load very slow accoss all apps, never took notice if play store is affected, my tablet or computer connected to the same wifi works fine, so I know its not my wifi..... anyway, I found if I go into recovery and clear all cache, it fixes the problem for a while.... it returns every few weeks though......

I'm getting really frustrated now. This problem is a real nuisance for me, as I use my Desire a lot solely for this purpose.
In my room, the wifi signal has always been pretty weak, generally only getting 1/2 bars. However, the connection is stable and still about 6mbps. This is never usually a problem for my Desire, it picks up the connection and everything works great. Stock Froyo, Sense Froyo, Sense Gingerbread, Sense V2 Gingerbread, Miui Froyo and Miui Gingerbread all operate flawlessly.
However, I now have a bit of a problem. It seems most Gingerbread AOSP ROM's cause the wifi to play up. I have tried GingerVillain, Oxygen, Redux and finally now my favourite CM7. The wifi constantly drops out and loses connection, and then takes a good 30+ seconds to reconnect. The dropouts can be as frequent as every few minutes, and generally it never lasts 4+ minutes in iplayer without losing connection. If I am just casually browsing, I don't notice. But when I am watching something on youtube or iplayer, the constant dropouts make the experience so horrible it isn't worth the effort.
What's more, there is some odd bug with the iplayer app where once a dropout happens, the audio and video goes out of sync and so on etc. All in all, it makes streaming video unusable, and this was a main reason for me buying a smartphone.
I really don't know what the problem is, but I really would appreciate some help. I would say it was a gingerbread problem, but as stated above, there are many gingerbread roms which don't cause me the same issue. Similarly, I've used an array of different radio's and kernals on each ROM. They make no difference. It depends purely on which ROM I am using. I've tried resetting the bt home hub, restoring it to factory, changing security type, moving it's position and so on. I'm pretty sure it's a ROM / Phone issue though as it works fine with other ROMS. Phone wise, I've set wifi policy to never and set a static IP address. It makes no difference. I still get wifi dropouts!
For reference sake, I'm using the latest stock Radio - 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27 and Kernal 2.6.37.4-cyanogenmod-82245..... and obviously CM7 7.0.2.
Please someone help? I'm actually considering upgrading just to solve this. It is absolutely doing my nut in, and I am totally out of ideas or solutions.
Thanks.
Maby a weird thing but on what channel is your wifi broadcasting ?
I had almost the same problem when my wifi was on channel 12. Now on channel 3 there is no more problem.
Not that any other wifi's broadcasting here. It is just that I've got the feeling that android has a problem with "high" channels.

It was on 10 and 11.
I'll switch to 3 and give it a try. Also, I'm going to try flashing the Gingerbread Sense Drivers and RIL.
Hi,
I've also had a similar problem for quite a while now (1-2 weeks). I used my wireless connection on my standard out of factory ROM on my home wifi network, my families wifi networks and my work wifi networks without _any_ problems.
When this problem started acting up I'd start my wifi connection, it would work for like a minute or so (not dependant on the amount of data transmitted or something, idle would last as long as while downloading), and then lose connection.
The strange thing is that it indicates it is fully connected at full strength but can not establish _any_ internet connection whatsoever.
My 3G connection to my network (I live in the Netherlands) works nicely, but it isn't as fast as wifi, so this limits me quite a bit (especially at work, indoors).
I've just tried to upgrade to CM7, but doesn't give any better results. I haven't tried upgrading my RADIO, but I don't really want to if I don't have to.
Any clues what I could do to fix this?
I'm experiencing similar problems.I changed from channel 11 to 4, but it really hasn't helped. I have also set up a portable wifi (netcomm). It runs on channel 3. The network sim is quite slow but the signal strength is much steadier. My faster speedstream completely drops out. I understand this "pulsing" of signal is normal, but mine is beyond the pale.
My acer netbook doesn't demonstrate any dropout issues.
Im running an A501 3.0.1. No upgrade yet for me here in australia. But, I'm wondering if this is just poor hardware.
could try a different Radio.. the latest stock one from the new official gingerbread is in my signature..
MD5: 432ED609D76AE57BA493DA875CDC9D2D
further to my difficulty with wifi drop outs, I'm pleased to say that it appears that my problems probably are related to my home wifi, a Speedstream.
I'm currently spending a week on a houseboat and I've been using a netcomm myzone wifi fitted with a sim card from a prepaid Dodo broadband usb.
I've not had any problem with it. Granted, I've had it close by, but it still seems to work fine when I'm at the other end of the houseboat.
So my acer A501 seems to be behaving itself here. Perhaps, something is causing the speedstream to vary it's signal strength so drastically.
@OP - I posted a thread a few weeks ago about having exactly the same problems as you with AOSP ROM's and weak wifi signals. Once I went to a Sense ROM the wifi signal was great. I prefer the AOSP ROM's so I upgraded my Radio to the latest version but it didn't help at all, I didn't see any change when using wi-fi analyser.
I'm currently using CM7 ROM and just putting up with the weak signal. I'm glad it's not just me though.
Dear folks!
I have been experiencing a significant problem for a while already and looking for how to solve it, and I hope someone of you can give me some help. Any advice appreciated. I couldnt find any concrete solution for this.
Let me start to explain you.
My sister is actually the one using Samsung Galaxy S4 mini (not rooted, Android 4.4.2), and we both have the same problem. Mine is Samsung Galaxy S Relay (rooted, Android 4.4.4).
Our wifi download speed from speedtest.net results directly about 40 Mbits/sec and I can't even believe it!
But when it comes to for example Facebook, Youtube, Google Play, it takes a long time for loading, especially the pictures. Worse on youtube videos, in most of the cases, it can't even load anything, it stops and only after several refresh I can see something, and again very slow.
On mine computer, it is all fine though. Also on our mobile data everything is working perfect and fast.
On my galaxy, I have tried different Android versions, but nothing changed, wifi still slow. Whatever we do on our mobile, change the ROM, factory reset, nothing helps. And the strangest thing is, that when my friend tried our wifi on his Nokia mobile, it worked also fast and without an issue.
It may sound strange, but our problem has exactly started when there was an upgrade of the ISP in our city. After experiencing like that, I have called them and they recommended me a new router. The new router didn't change anything.
My ISP suggested me to try another channels on the router.. I have tried them all. Sill the same problem, and they can not help me any further so far.
If it is an andoid issue, what else can I try?
If it is a router issue, what can I try on its settings? I believe there is an interface/connection problem between samsung and my router or new ISP settings, maybe some change in the settings could fix it?
I would appreciate any help from you guys.
Thank you in advance!
// EDIT, SOLUTION
in case it happens same to you,
this is the solution in such a case, but need to be rooted: just disable the ipv6
I used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.lennartschoch.disableipv6 for that
no such troubled lags anymore! it costed me lots of nervs and went to my bananas!
here you go and enjoy!
Please somebody any idea?
// edit: solved!
Just want to share with you my solution: after disabling IPv6, facebook, youtube and google play work fast now! (in case u have a bad ISP (?) like mine!)
for disabling it i luckily found https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.lennartschoch.disableipv6

Let me start by saying that this issue only occurs when I'm using Wi-Fi and none of these exist while using my cell data.
While I am on Wi-Fi I experience issues with the play store such as images not loading even though I can browse and search with no issue. Also, when I click install to download an app it will say downloading for about 2 minutes before it actually starts downloading. While I am using the browser it is almost impossible to get a page to load. If I toggle my Wi-Fi it will temporarily resolve the browser issue, but not my issue with the play store.
The ONLY thing that I have managed to do to resolve all these issues was to use an app on the play store that changes my DNS without needing to be rooted. I believe it works by using a VPN.
A few other things to add... I have 3 other Android phones, 1 Android Tablet, and an Android TV that have absolutely no issues with my Wi-Fi. I have tried changing all kinds of settings on my router, toggling all the different settings in my phone's Advanced Wi-fi settings, Factory reset, and running in safe mode all with no success in fixing my issues. My phone is also fully updated and I just recieved it in the mail yesterday... according to the date that was on my phone, it was built this month.
EDIT: I finally solved the issue by turning off IPv6 on my router and now everything works great. This still doesn't explain why my other devices were fine, BUT I did notice that the "Google Connectivity Services" app wasn't installed on my phone and it never asked me to install it so that may have been the problem all along... I'll have to test it out and see if my device works if I re-enable IPv6.
EDIT 2: I turned IPv6 back on and it appears that the Google Connectivity Services app doesn't do anything to fix the issue, though I didn't try restarting my device.
If you connect to a 2.4 GHz network, do you have the same issues? Others are having wifi issues too, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/wifi-issues-htc-10-weak-signal-fail-t3368165
I've noticed that 2.4 is more consistent (but obviously slower) than 5 GHz.
2.4: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByvK5ngdexuyMzZDMF93dWh4OUE
5: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByvK5ngdexuySGZNblhkWEFRTUk
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByvK5ngdexuybHVBcFA3bHRDckU
There's always a dip, so it probably stops transferring any data for part of the test. This doesn't happen on any other devices, and nothing else is using bandwidth.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that it happens on both 2.4 and 5 Ghz.
Sounds you might have DNS issues at home. Have you tried it on some other network? I know it's a bit weird, but I have seen similar problems which were related to DNS (perhaps buggy router firmware?). to your case.
I tried changing DNS settings on my router, but it doesn't explain that none of my other devices have issues. I finally solved the issue by turning off IPv6 on my router and now everything works great. This still doesn't explain why my other devices were fine, BUT I did notice that the "Google Connectivity Services" app wasn't installed on my phone and it never asked me to install it so that may have been the problem all along... I've been facing issues on my Mi A2 Lite ever since the Pie update in December. These issues have been persistent on my WiFi and it has gotten to a point where I'm inclined to change my phone. Keep in mind that the same WiFi works fine everywhere else. Here are the issues:
1. Browsing
I've tried a few browsers but the issue is on all of them. What happens is that the first couple of searches are normal but after that the page is stuck on loading and maybe after 10-20 minutes it might open that page. The error 'Bad network connection. please wait' pops up everytime this happens
2. Facebook
It literally doesn't run. Newsfeed stays the same, comments can't be loaded, groups can't be visited etc. It acts like my WiFi isn't turned on even though it is.
3. WhatsApp
Messages work fine but if I try to send a picture or video to somebody it never goes through.
4. Twitter
Twitter and Facebook have the same issue. Sometimes when I'm using it on mobile data and switch back to WiFi it works fine but that is not very often and doesn't last for too long.
All these issues happen both when the WiFi and Bluetooth is turned on and when only WiFi is turned on. None of these issues happen on mobile data. And the same WiFi works fine on other devices like I have said before.
Has anybody faced this issue? Is there any solution (I have tried pretty much everything)?

Nobody!
Try To Factory Reset!
Yes wifi + Bluetooth issues... I don't know if this has been fixed I have given up on January
Personally didn't see all the issues you describe, but I will concur the WiFi is wonky at times. Even seems like the signal strength is weakened by stock ROM.
I was on the last security patch recently and was trying to watch YouTube on a public WiFi and nothing was loading, thought maybe there was a restriction as switching to VPN connection I was able to view no problem.
I recently switched to paranoid android and WiFi signal is noticeably stronger, and on the same network I was having issues, YouTube plays fine now. I am only a couple days into using PA, but my opinion is it is preforming much better than xiaomi releases.
Hey so I've been having this issue with my Galaxy A50 where the wifi would keep hiccuping in a constant pattern, this is very noticeable when I try to stream games using either Steam Link or Moonlight, the wifi would cut for like a split second each 5 ish seconds. I did however find a workaround, and that it so enable and disable airplane mode, it would completely fix the hiccups.
So today, I regretted updating my phone so much (7th of July update), because now, the hiccups are back and they are more constant than ever. The trick I'd use to make the wifi stable no longer works, I need to keep airplane mode enabled at all times to avoid these hiccups.
I would like one of either solutions: can I fix this issue once and for all, because it's supper annoying, I tried removing my sim cards and all but the issue persists, if there is no fix for this, then I'd like to revert to the previous version I had, I have already downloaded the files from Sammobile, but I'm worried that it would brick my phone or even refuse to install period, here's the ROM that I'd like to install:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-a50/firmware/SM-A505FN/SER/download/A505FNPUS5BTF1/347209/
I've explained this issue a bit better on the steam forums, so I'm gonna copy what I typed there;
Thank you very much in advance.
Okay so, recently I got a brand new Galaxy A50 phone, and whenever I'd try to stream games (over local network using WiFi) I'd get frequent and consistent hiccups that last about a split second each 3 seconds ~, I suspected that the issue could be from my phone being faulty or whatever, but I tried my brother's phone which is the same as mine, but the issue persisted.
On very rare occasions, the hiccups would not occur and the stream would be absolutely perfect, so I know for sure it might not be a hardware issue and that a stutter free experience is possible for sure, however I have no clue how to keep it consistent.
Mind you I have tried many other devices, my old Galaxy S5 and S6, even tried a Huawei phone and an Oppo phone and they all seem to work just fine, I even tried different streaming services like Parsec, TeamViewer, Moonlight etc... So the issue is certainly not my network as it is working just fine with other devices.
The A50 is a pretty popular mid-range phone so I'd expect at least someone to use Steam link (or similar apps) on it and experience this problem, yet I haven't found a single post about this issue online, the only thread that pops up is another one of mine related to this issue (on Reddit).
Can anybody help me come up with a solution? I tried quite literally everything I can, including updating my OS and all of my apps.
Thank you in advance
