Let me start by saying that this issue only occurs when I'm using Wi-Fi and none of these exist while using my cell data.
While I am on Wi-Fi I experience issues with the play store such as images not loading even though I can browse and search with no issue. Also, when I click install to download an app it will say downloading for about 2 minutes before it actually starts downloading. While I am using the browser it is almost impossible to get a page to load. If I toggle my Wi-Fi it will temporarily resolve the browser issue, but not my issue with the play store.
The ONLY thing that I have managed to do to resolve all these issues was to use an app on the play store that changes my DNS without needing to be rooted. I believe it works by using a VPN.
A few other things to add... I have 3 other Android phones, 1 Android Tablet, and an Android TV that have absolutely no issues with my Wi-Fi. I have tried changing all kinds of settings on my router, toggling all the different settings in my phone's Advanced Wi-fi settings, Factory reset, and running in safe mode all with no success in fixing my issues. My phone is also fully updated and I just recieved it in the mail yesterday... according to the date that was on my phone, it was built this month.
EDIT: I finally solved the issue by turning off IPv6 on my router and now everything works great. This still doesn't explain why my other devices were fine, BUT I did notice that the "Google Connectivity Services" app wasn't installed on my phone and it never asked me to install it so that may have been the problem all along... I'll have to test it out and see if my device works if I re-enable IPv6.
EDIT 2: I turned IPv6 back on and it appears that the Google Connectivity Services app doesn't do anything to fix the issue, though I didn't try restarting my device.
If you connect to a 2.4 GHz network, do you have the same issues? Others are having wifi issues too, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/wifi-issues-htc-10-weak-signal-fail-t3368165
I've noticed that 2.4 is more consistent (but obviously slower) than 5 GHz.
2.4: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByvK5ngdexuyMzZDMF93dWh4OUE
5: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByvK5ngdexuySGZNblhkWEFRTUk
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByvK5ngdexuybHVBcFA3bHRDckU
There's always a dip, so it probably stops transferring any data for part of the test. This doesn't happen on any other devices, and nothing else is using bandwidth.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that it happens on both 2.4 and 5 Ghz.
Sounds you might have DNS issues at home. Have you tried it on some other network? I know it's a bit weird, but I have seen similar problems which were related to DNS (perhaps buggy router firmware?). to your case.
I tried changing DNS settings on my router, but it doesn't explain that none of my other devices have issues. Hello, i know this has been discussed here before, but i wanted to ask for help anyway. My Wifi was working perfectly fine on Android 4.1, but after this update to 4.2.2 its really bad.
I know its software issue, pressing right top corner of my HOX doesnt help at all. I tried factory reset, but it didnt help. I´m running official ROM and no root. The problem is that sometimes when i have full signal strenght, the wifi speed is still horrible (like 0.5mb on 10mb wifi).
Any suggestions what to try? Thanks a lot

I have exactly the same problem. All HTC customer service suggested was factory reset, tried that and no difference. On 4.1 it worked fine on my wifi at home throughout the house, now on 4.2, works ok downstairs but useless upstairs even when it says I have 4 bars of signal. Very one times flaky though and sometimes drops to 1 or none. This is a disaster as I understand there is no way to roll back to 4.1. This is unbelievable!! How can an official update totally break basic functionality with no way back!? Searched all over Internet to find a solution and no luck, even though a fair few people seem ro have this problem. Is not a hardware problem, as OP, squeezing top right makes no difference. Have tried static IP, doesn't help. Desperate for help, can any wise heads on here suggest anything? Thanks!
So wish I had not updated, it worked brilliantly before.
Same situation here after the update... With full signal keep having horrible Wifi speed... :'(

Do you have the same problem 4play975? Seems quite a few people do..! As per OP my phone is not rooted and don't want to root it really.
Any chance anyone can suggest any other solutions to try?
Failing that, some details on what Richmondos fix is would be useful!!
Yeah, I really dont want to root my phone too, because i have warranty for more than 1 year now and I will sell the phone in future, so I dont wanna risk loosing warranty..
I also have similar problem! But it varies, sometimes it's bad and sometimes not??? Phone is stock and locked and don't want to unlock and install custom stuf, until warranty period is over.
Hello to all
I have the same wi-fi problem on my HTC One X since I made the update.
Is there any way to solve this?I hope so, because Wi-Fi signal is very bad, and I use it a lot of time.
I have CWM recovery installed, bootloader unlocked, and s-on, recently I have rooted my phone,
but at this moment is not.
I dont care installing new kernel, radio,etc........I just want to solve this problem :crying:
Tanks to all
I have a problem with my wifi too since the Andriod 4.2.2 and Sense 5 update, but it seems to be a bit different from yours. The speedtest.net app and the ping & DNS app give the same results as my PC that is hard wired to the router, so speed and ping seem to be fine.
But I get errors like Connection Problem Authentication via the proxy server was unsuccessful - but I don't use a proxy server. In the HOX wifi settings for that router the Proxy settings are Manual, Proxy hostname 127.0.0.1 and proxy port 3128. Are these correct for when there is no proxy? If switch from Manual to None and go back in then it has gone back to those settings.
Another error is Connection Problem this page contains too many server redirects. But the page displays fine if I switch to mobile data.
Or I get Connection Problem there was a network error. Again it works fine on mobile data.
Then there are some webpages that give a 404 page cannot be found error. Again it works fine on mobile data.
Some of these problems are repeatable on the same webpages across different routers in different buildings.
Sometimes when connecting to a router the HOX connects and the loses the connection and then reconnects up to 10 times before settling on the connection.
Like you I would rather not root etc if possible.
So, noone know a solution for users without root? I found out that on some wifi (in school), it works quite fine even on worse signal. But before update, it was ok on every wifi..
Hi
i have the same problem with my wlan connection. Nearly 100kb/s.
I had tested my internet download speed on my computer and takes interesting information:
my internet connection is 70MBit, this means i can download with nearly 8,2 MB/s.
If my HOX is not connected to the router, the whole downloadspeed is available on the computer. But if the HOX is connected, the downloadspeed is only 1 MB/s.
After disconnecting and rebooting the router, the internet connection is as well as before.
Does anyone makes the experiences?
regards
Daniel
I don't have the speed problems, Speedtest.net app gives the same results on my HOX as my PC.
One of my wifi problems is to do with the Wi-fi connecting to a weak signal instead of the stronger one - I have worked around this by installing WiFi Fixer App which works well at switching to the stronger signal.
Also there are some websites that give errors like Server Error too Many Redirects (for example http://www.thefreedictionary.com/ does that for me) or 404 Error - Page Cannot be Found (http://fahrbot.co.uk/) or are sometimes slow to load - I have found that these issues don't happen with the Opera Mini app, so why does the stock browser give these problems when on wifi, but not on mobile data?
Another one is that if I click a link in a webpage (or type in a URL) that takes me to a webpage that has a mobile version as well as the desktop version I get a strange URL that doesn't work. For example on mobile data typing in www.abmobileapps.com takes me to the mobile version of the website, but on wifi the URL automatically changes to http://www.abmobileapps.comhttp/www.abmobileapps.com/ and the page cannot be found. Again it works in mini Opera on wifi.
WIFI FIX
if you use rooted device, use lyapota mods and flash modpack http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2114584 (contin wififix and other).
for me works great :highfive: (my router has openwrt)
I found out that on some other wifis speed works just fine. I have router D-Link DIR-600 with stronger antenna than it was stock. I use WPA2 security and Dynamic IP.
Is there anything what I should try to fix it? Thanks for any suggestions.
Here are some advices how to fix the WiFi issues - router dependent (need access to the router setup):
1. Make sure that you are not using channel 11-13
2. Disable "WMM Support" in router Wireless -> Advanced Settings. Note: this will force G-only speed (54Mb)
3. You you want to keep the N speed, put your phone in the highest possible QoS priority without disabling the "WMM Support"
Hope this helps

So, we will change WMM settings for all wifi modems that we connect...
Shame on you HTC...Next time I will ignore HTC while buying a new mobile phone...
after flashing lyopotas mod pack my hox'S wifi seems to work again like it's supposed
maybe it helps
After update,
i can't use my home wifi (Innacomm),using other wifi okay.
conneted but can't surf internet (error 404) but can only use opera mini (very very very slow).
Using other device no problem with the wifi..anyone can help me? TQ :crying:
The problems I am having with proxy and 404 errors are all caused by the Web Protection feature in Kaspersky Internet Security for Android since the OTA to Android 4.2.2 (it worked fine previously). I have installed the latest KIS 11.1.4.141 from the Kaspersky website (because Google Play says it is up to date at version 11.1.3) but the problem still occurs. So I have turned off Web Protection in KIS and all my issues have been cleared up.

I attempted to download an app from Google Play yesterday and noticed the download was running very slow so i stopped it and re-tried it a few times. It then stalled and would not download at all so I closed Google Play store and went back into it, now I get 'No Connection' in the center of the screen and Google Play will not work. I have since tried my stock Android browser and I get 'Web page not available' and also Youtube and Amazon app store have similar issues. However, what doesn't make sense is that some Internet based apps work fine and Dolphin browser works fine too. If I switch off Wi-Fi and connect to 3G everything works fine so the issue lies with the Wi-Fi connection. My wife who has the same phone can connect and use the Wi-Fi fine without any issues and any other Internet device I have is still working as it should be. It appears it is only my phone with the issue.
I have tried checking date/time which is correct.
I have reset cache and cleared data for both the browser, Youtube and Google Play
I have rebooted my phone and my broadband router
I have tried changing the security settings to from WPA2-PSK (AES) to WPA/WPA2-PSK (Mixed Mode)
All to no avail.
I have rooted Android 4.3 but it has been working fine for over a year before now. I would want to avoid doing a factory reset at all costs as I have some important apps that can't be backed up with the likes of Helium and some other forums have shown that a factory reset has not resolved the issue.
Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.
After a day of trying to resolve this issue I have finally managed to fix it. This may be useful for anyone else having the same issue:
I went into my Wi-Fi settings and looked for my router in the list and did a long tap on the name and chose 'Forget Network' so it removes my router. I then did a re-scan so it picked it back up. When tapping it, this time I was able to re-enter my Wi-Fi password and connect. After doing this everything started working again.
I've no idea why all of a sudden the network failed to work correctly but at least it is now sorted. I just don't understand why some Internet access worked and others did not. I guess I shall never know!
I have had my 5x almost 5 months now and i have been experiencing very slow WiFi download/upload speeds, but on gplay store i get very high speeds, I've read that turning on Bluetooth helps but this doesn't work for me, I this a software issue, or possibly a hardware issue? Any suggestion would be appreciated. This problem has persisted over android versions (6.0-7.1.1) i have the latest radio installed (installed it using the zip here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/nexus-5x-radio-bootloader-recovery-t3433638)
Thanks.
Firstly, I wouldn't recommend installing any 3rd party radios in situations like this. Because if you are confident that Google Play downloads work reasonably fast, clearly your radio is OK.
The issue must be something else then -- for instance badly setup DNS or your router in general (which just happens to have Google server correctly cached).
Lastly, I'm 100% sure Bluetooth doesn't help Wi-Fi at all, it's the other way around -- if BT and Wi-Fi shares the same antenna, hardly they can help each other, they must multiplex each other, leading to more slowdowns.
every few weeks for some strange reason I get slow internet while connected to wifi, pages load very slow accoss all apps, never took notice if play store is affected, my tablet or computer connected to the same wifi works fine, so I know its not my wifi..... anyway, I found if I go into recovery and clear all cache, it fixes the problem for a while.... it returns every few weeks though......
So i have noticed that while i am on wifi for example the videos on instagram take a while to load, this is kind of crazy because i am on fios 5G internet on wifi. Im coming from iphone so i know there was an option on iPhones that chose to give more prescedence that if you were connected to wifi it used the internet from that then the provided one from T-mobile for example. So my questions is, has this happened to anyone else? Or is there any other solution to this?
I've been experiencing the same issue since the time I purchased the device and I'm yet to come across any particular solution. A workaround that I've found is disconnecting the wifii, reconnecting it and then rebooting the device. It starts to work normally after doing those 3 things for at least a day.
I had the problem too. My router was having issues with ipv6 firewalls and only the 5ghz had issues. I solved mine by downloading a VPN app. I'm using NoRoot Firewall and everything works fine now.

FWIW: #9 can't work. There's no option in stock recovery to wipe cache partition.
Wow this is ridiculous man for paying about $1,100 for this phone, these issues shouldnt even be there to begin with.
Try disabling wifi scanning?

where do you find that? but even if so im connected to wifi already why would the phone be searching for additional access points?
Settings -> location -> scanning (three dots on the top right).
I think it scans for other wifi in the area to help pinpoint your location (not sure how google does it).
So, I noticed my pixel 3 xl WiFi is disconnecting frequently.
It's connected to a secure 5Ghz band.
I did reset network, updated to November update
My other devices are properly connected and never had an issue. My S8 has never had this issue.
I did forget WiFi and tried again. It's only pixel 3 xl that's doing that.
I am not rooted and bootloader is locked..

I'm noticing the same thing. Can't narrow it down. Are you using any of those VPN based ad blockers?

Nope, no VPN either.
I was just using Chrome connected to my TV the first gen. And it randomly disconnected again.
I did complete factory reset too. Same thing.
I'm having this same issue. When connected to WiFi, things typically work for a few seconds, then they go to hell. It's intermittent, and it never works for longer than a minute.
In my household there a Pixel 2 XL, S9+, LG V20, and this Pixel 3 XL. All phone's, game consoles, laptops, security cameras, and even guest phone's work fine, but not the Pixel 3 XL. It does the same crap on my works WiFi too.
When I first setup the phone, I transferred data from my old phone. It took 22 hours to complete whatever tasks it had to complete when the transfer was done. That turned out to be the start of my wifi issues.
I've factory reset, reset network settings, deleted all sorts of caches, tried other networks, different network settings, even tried removing my case, and bought a new router. Nothing works...
I'm also having disconnect issues. One of the Pixel's wi-fi connection issues FAQs suggested resetting the wireless router to see if that cleared things up. I tried that after forgetting & re-establishing the connection didn't help. It made a substantial improvement, but it did not eliminate them. Obviously something else is going on.
Mine seems ok. The only disconnects I ever experience are my XBOX One disconnecting in the middle of games...

I tried this too with no improvements. I dont think this is a good solution though since my wifi doesnt work on any network i try. I work for a fairly large company, getting them to reset the hundreds of routers they have would definitely not work!
I had the issue too and read somewhere that turning on Bluetooth would stabilize the WiFi connection.
I tried it and it works for me.
I don't consider it a solution, but it might be a usable workaround for you.
I too have been encountering the issue with WiFi disconnecting. That said I only know it is happening due to picking up my phone and apps connected to my smart home report no connections. The phone has reconnected to WiFi but the apps are not recovering.
I am not using VPN ad blocking and my Bluetooth is on.
My Bluetooth is never off, but some devices use the same piece of hardware for both so I've done the opposite and shut it off to see if that might fix it and there's no difference whether Bluetooth is on or off.
Thanks for posting a new idea though!
Same problem here but only with AVM Fritz WLAN products. Access points from other companys work without problem.
Wi-Fi disconnects every few minutes, switches to mobile and immediately reconnects.
AVM Support say that they have tested it with one of the employees Pixel 3XLs and it's working without problems.
Google replaced my device but same issue with the new one.
I tried flashing the very first Factory Image and it has the same problem. And with Q the problem exists too.
I was able to find a solution for me. It was caused by AFWall+.
I uninstalled it and installed new beta 3.2. Setting everything by hand and now the disconnects are gone ?
