Unlike other phones, the pixel only syncs 361 contacts of my nearly 2000 contacts to my Audi. It is a random selection from my various contact lists. I have one Google account and three exchange accounts. Anyone else have bt sync issues?

I've had BT issues of various sorts and I thought I read the other day that more than one BT fix would be included in the 7.1.1 update dropping in a few days.
Here's hoping.

I spent at least an hour trying various things and narrowed it down a bit. I now have a thousand of them synced. In contacts on the phone you can customize which contacts are viewed. Since I have three exchange and one Google account, I first toggled off all accounts except one and synced with the car. I did this by simply turning off bt for a few seconds. It only syncs viewed. Then I added one account or category at a time but ignoring social accounts like g+. One of my exchange accounts errors out the sync somehow. For the time being I'm not syncing it. Not sure what the problem is as other phones have not struggled with this. I still enabled it in the phone after syncing the others and the thousand that made it seem to stick in the car.

When i first start my car (kia soul) it proceeds to download the phone book from my phone. On my previous phone (touch pro 2) it went much quicker then it goes with the Evo. I assume this is because i have more contacts.
Is there some way i can designate that only certain contacts get transfered? There's really only a handful that i ever call from my car, the rest of them i don't need added to the car's phone book. Could i do something like create a bluetooth group and only contacts in that group get transfered to the car's memory?
No solution to this? It takes several minutes before i can use the incar bluetooth system due to how long it takes for it to copy the phone book.
Well I unchecked exchange in my contacts then it doesn't sync them. After the first sync you can go back and check exchange and it will sync them in the background next time you get in the car.

If you mean under the account & sync settings, i do not have my exchange contacts set to sync. The only thing set to sync under there is email.
Is it possibly downloading EVERY contact that i have in gmail? Under the 'my contacts' section i have 40 contacts. but under all contacts i have well over a thousand.
On my touch pro 2, i think i probably had about 25 contacts in the phone.
Ya see my situation is a little different I have an exchange email for work then gmail for personal. I just go into the people app and unchecked exchange then it will sync faster. Sorry that none of that will apply for you but maybe help someone else. I will say this that it does seem slower syncing than the TP2. That doesn't help either ....

Hmm, so you think the phone itself is for some reason slow syncing then the tp2 and it's not just an issue of possibly having more contacts? If i have time, i'll try deleting my account from the phone and manually adding a few contacts and see how long it takes for it to sync just that handful.
I'm not sure what you mean by going into the people app and unchecking exchange? when i click on people, i don't have an option anywhere to uncheck exchange. Maybe that's because i don't have the exchange contacts set to sync under the account settings.
I've had a hotmail account for more than a decade. Probably 13 or 14 years. But I didn't use it often, and never stored contacts online (I use Outlook for my mail, and sync it with gmail, and don't store contacts online there). But now, in order to sync Outlook contacts with Windows Phone 7, I set up hotmail to sync with Outlook, and now all of my contacts have been sent a spam email through my hotmail account. Spam is why I rarely used hotmail to begin with. GRRR!
Thumbs down to MS for making us use Live.com!
looks like you have a trojan on your PC. Check your anitvirus and check if you have all the Windows and Outlook updates installed.
Sorry, but this is not a problem with live.com it is with your computer.
BTW, you can sync your contacts without configuring/syncing mail etc... check out http://www.soocial.com/
You also may want to change your hotmail password to something you don't use (and have never used) elsewhere.
GRRR...
Ok... I guess I was too quick to blame Live... Malwarebytes is running now, for about 15 minutes, hasn't found anything yet, but we'll see. Password changed as well.
My Live contacts contain the same amount of contacts as my gmail account for many years and never got spam emails for that. It is typically caused by malware on your PC that uses your outlook (or even worse, outlook express) as gold mine to send out spams.
One thing I've noticed is that in my call log all the entries are numbers. Numbers don't seem to match up to names and show the Names and Pictures - like... ever... They're just a bunch of numbers and who the hell remembers all of everyone's phone numbers (some people have home work and two mobiles ).
Almost done with the second scan - still nothing found. :/
Probably caused by one of your emails that contains malware and you clicked on it. The embedded malware will execute (sending out emails from your address book) and it will be gone afterwards. I'll be supprised it can be detected by any software. Besides, a few trojan I encountered in the past can't be detected by anything either. But those are much more dangerous than just sending out the spam mail.
I find Live Service is really helpful on Storing my contact. I don't have to worry about backing 'em up on my simcard. I can have all my contact number even i change the simcard...

try Microsoft security essentials. I have found it to be quite good with detecting things that went unnoticed with my previously installed software (mcafee)
Before I synced my info I went through and did some cleaning on my contact list on live. I love that it is all on live and I can remotely wipe my phone and have my contacts on a new phone in a matter of minutes.
i love the live sync as well, i was not for it until i got my HD7...

Windows Phone 7 is not supported on their website yet..
Thanks for all the good input.
I see that Calendar and Contact sync is good in a way it quickly transfers necessary data to your new device.
But WL has two big down sides.
* Limitation of about 1000 contacts. If you go above that expect errors
* You can't sync separately Email, Contacts and Calendar when you want but just all at once.
Also: they *don't* force you to use Live to sync your contacts. You can sync them to Gmail or any number of similar services, as well as anything that supports the Activesync protocol. I sync exclusively to Google Contacts and have since the day I got the phone, problem free

that's for syncing outlook contacts to Live contacts or any other service. Once you sync your contacts to live or gmail account, Windows Phone 7 can sync with them.

I've had more than 1500 contacts since day 1 and haven't had an issue. I used Outlook Connector to sync the to my Live account and my phone was automtically populated with all of them.

So you're lucky! 1000 contacts limitation is well known in Hotmail accounts.
In my case until I cleaned manually my Contacts list the phone was performing looped sync of contacts resulting in endless sync (reaching 25000 contacts synced and still going on......)
Windows Live is always evolving and like other limitations, the 1000 contacts do not exist anymore, and its going to be at least 2 years now that limitation does not exists...
Something I noticed...I set my gmail to sync hourly but it does not do that at all. Both my hotmail accounts will sync hourly but whenever I go to my gmail app, the longest time before another sync was like 22 mins. I emailed myself something through gmail once and although my sync settings were still set at hourly, I got the email 10 minutes later. Idk what's going on with that. I just now put it on manually because I'm pretty sure its turning on my 3G more times than it should.

I actually have several gmail accounts and they sync at various times with my main personal account syncing every 15min... And it all seems fine...

He probably means the Gmail email app you get once you configure a Gmail account on your WP7.
slightly different problem with gmail sync
Hey everybody,
I'm wondering if anybody else is having the same problem as me at the moment ?
I've had the phone a few months now. I experienced a few issues with Hotmail and returned to using Gmail. It used to sync and push emails flawlessly, however it seems to have stopped working which is driving me mad.
When I wake up, i'm used to seeing new messages waiting for me (mainly XDA forum news). However, the push functionality has stopped working. I open my inbox, and see a message indicating email is up to date. However, no new messages are displayed. When pushing the sync button, the inbox is synced and the new messages are displayed, despite the settings set for "as items arrive". Highly annoying and not very productive to have to check for messages manually.
I played around with the settings trying various options, I even deleted the account and started over again (which was a pain re linking contacts etc, all to no avail.
Can anybody help me to restore my push email please ? I'm getting really cheesed off now.
Thanks
Garrickus.
Could it be possible that your phone had synced with G-mail 50 minutes before you sent yourself an email, and then you received it 10 minutes later, after the scheduled hour?
BUMP
go to email account settings and check if it is showing any errors. happened to me once. I re-entered my username passoword and the error went away. Perhaps this is due to Google getting very picky these days as many gmail accounts are getting hacked.
Why not just leave it in 'push' mode? Unless you have a lot of emails every hour, push email uses less data than polling. Gmail's exchange activesync isn't exactly rock solid. Back in WM 6.xx days, I have to reset my account every few weeks.
Hi, I'm a few days into using my HTC One X (first time Android user having just switched from WM6.5) and have found a problem with syncing with Exchange Activesync (Office 365). I'm set up to sync mail, contacts, calendar and tasks with EAS. The problem is with my contacts in the stock "People" app.
I notice for new EAS contacts that I create from the phone (i.e. from an incoming call or SMS), the contact is synced up to OWA and Outlook. But when I make a change to the contact item from OWA or Outlook, the changes do not sync back to the phone. However, if I make another change to the same contact from the phone, it will sync up. It's only syncing one way i.e. from the phone.
This does not happen to the other contacts that were originally downloaded to the phone from Exchange. Meaning, changes to these other contacts will sync both ways - from OWA/Outlook to the phone and vice versa.
Does anyone else have this problem? Better yet, a solution?
Thanks in advance.
ps. If it's any help, I've also downloaded Touchdown to my phone to test. But note that the contacts in Touchdown are not copied/linked to the native phonebook (People app).
Hi UKC1,
What happens when you add a new contact from the Exchange end? Does it sync to your phone, if so do edits to that contact on the phone sync back?
I have Exchange so I will test this for you now, but on the surface it would sound like the contacts that you have added from receiving a call or an SMS are going to a different address book behind the scenes, one that is outside of the Exchange sync scope.
EDIT: I note that when I enter the 'People' app on my phone, and manually add a new contact, I am able to choose from four address books (SIM, Phone, Exchange, Google).
Whilst I haven't tested any further just yet, it could be the issue I mentioned above that you are not creating the contact on the phone inside the 'Exchange' address book, and therefore it will not sync with Exchange.
I was able to reproduce your issue. Create contact on phone in default address book (which is Exchange), contact syncs to Exchange OK. Make change on phone, change updated Exchange OK. Make change in Outlook, contact did not get updated = FAIL. I waited quite a while too (all other changes were instant).
........
However, maybe I have some good news for you, the contact DID get updated after I rebooted the phone.
Can you please confirm that works for you?
Yes, you have reproduced my exact problem. And I tested it again today - same thing. I guess I'm not the only one with this problem then. I elevated it to HTC but there's no response yet.
Anyway, so I rebooted as you suggested but no it didn't work - the outlook/exchange-amended changes DID NOT sync back to my phone. Only when I removed the EAS account and re-setup the account did everything sync. Then I tested it again by creating more contacts from the phone.
Funny thing is that now some of phone-created contacts are syncing both ways now. But others are still not.
I can keep testing but my actual EAS account has 3000+ contacts. There's no way I can keep track what is synced.
This people app is just looking unreliable. Any other ideas?
Nothing that I know of with EAS support. Could be because you have a large number of contacts. If I was to suggest anything it would be split them up into groups. Then again with 3000 contacts I would assume you have already done that! Perhaps try an AOSP ROM such as Trips CM9 and try the default ICS experience to see if you have the same issue. Could be the People app, could be the EAS support within ICS itself. Would be interested in your findings.
OK.. so I'm a little confused here. I've got 2 gmail accounts setup as exchange services on my SGS3.. one of them has all my phone contacts, which I've been syncing to for a couple years on my iPhone (up until the SGS3). The other one (also a gmail) has no phone contacts in it (that I am aware of) though I'm sure has email contacts as gmail likes to cache senders and recipients to help your email experience - which is fine.
Ok, then add to the mix, Mobile Life contacts from T-mobile which I guess is part of the stock rom which I am using, then google plus, which is also pre-installed I guess unless I installed it and don't remember (which is possible, since I installed a bunch of stuff in the beginning setting it up and playing around).
Then we can also add calendar entries which are also being sync'd, again should only be from my 1 single personal phone email - but I'm not getting sync'd twice.
OK: So to core of my question/problem. Now I have multiple duplicate entries when I send an email etc, and they are like multiples of the same people, same information, some correctly formatted, some not.... and somehow my calendars merged and I get multiple alerts and notices from 2 calendars for the same entry, even though I only added it to my 1 calendar on the personal phone gmail account.
Just a little background so everyone will fully understand, whenever I learned about syncing via exchange with my iPhone to a Gmail account, I made a personal PHONE ONLY gmail (ie: [email protected]) which I used pretty much exclusively for contacts, calendar, email from/to the phone. Then with every new phone, syncing all my personal info was simple. The other gmail account has like 3 or 4 emails accounts (business, personal, etc) all forwarded to it - but I never used it as a cloud for contacts or calendars. Google + and Mobile Life I didn't even know about until this phone.
SO: How do I edit and remove the MULTIPLE duplicates while keeping the cloud god's happy? Like as an example, one of my son's contacts has his email contact 4 times, and only 1 is formatted correctly...
IE: John's Phone <[email protected]>
the other three are formatted something like this
"John's Phone" <[email protected]>
[email protected] (John's Phone)
<<"John's Phone"> <[email protected]>>
All very strange.... some have pictures set for the contacts, others do not....... its a mess.:silly:
NOTE: I'm sorry to whoever actually has [email protected] - I hope this doesn't get spam to your acct
Go to account settings and when you select an account you can uncheck what you want to sync, so just uncheck contacts and calendar on the accounts you don't want
