[LG G4][Issue] IMEI in software different from the one in back label unable to Unlock - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

have an LG G4 H815 I'm facing problem with low level network & loose of LTE so i wanted to unlock my device to gain more solutions but when i put my imei in LG developers site. I got the answer that my device ID don't match the imei so i tried the Imei found in the back label . the same thing i got the same answer. So now im unable to unlock my device

Looks like you are using a refurbished device, go check your hardware IMEI to identity your device, only H811 or H815 gets BL unlocked

Dial *#06# will give you your hardware IMEI, that's the real IMEI.
Open a new tab, copy the link below and paste your IMEI after the “=”
http://www.lgbbs.com/LGB2B/IMEI.php?IMEI=YOUR IMEI

You won't be able to unlock your bootloader unless you have a label under your battery that has same IMEI as what shows by dialing *#06#. This is only done if repaired by LG authorised repairer.
LG will ask for photo proof of the label and even the barcode has to match. Trust me I changed my own motherboard and they don't want to know about it!

Send a mail to lg [email protected] and ask for unlock. like this:
Hello,
I tried to bootloader unlock my LG g4 H815 but i got device ID mismatch using official unlock web site.
The mainboard was replaced in aug. 2016 under warrenty. (LG Germany).
What can i do to unlock the bootloader of this device?
Best regards
walter79
Answer by lg:
Hello,
*
We apologize for any inconvenience.
*
it may not match due to the replacement.
*
If so, please send us the following:
- The new Device ID copied from the DOS command window as text.
(You can copy the Device ID with the right button of your mouse.)
- A label photo file (less than 200KB) taken from the back of the phone.
(You can find the label when you remove the battery.)*
** In the photo, the label must be visible on the back of the phone.
*
We are now providing an interim solution for this issue.
Hello,
*
We apologize for the delay and any inconvenience caused.
**last week was the Korean Thanksgiving (Chu-Seok) holiday period.*
*
You can now unlock the bootloader of your phone at Unlock Bootloader page. Please try again.
*
Best Regards,
LG Developer site Team

Cannot unlock bootloader on a repaired H815

My bootloader unlocked H815 suddenly froze (hard bricked) with no response to anything other than the boot screen.
Sent it for repair. They replaced the CPU and RAM. The repaired H815 came back locked with 10C.
The IMEI stayed the same, but the device ID was changed (fastboot...devic-id).
When trying to obtain a new UNLOCK.BIN file on the LG developers site, I get the message that my device ID does not match.
I managed to root the H815, but I cannot install a recovery (TWRP). This prevents me from installing any ZIP file since I have no access to recovery (XPOSED, V4android, etc.).
Please advice
Thanks
Anyone?
U should email lg developer for help.. I saw a lot of people facing this problem also
Sent my IMEI and new Device ID to LG (via LGE Developer site)
waiting for the new key file
Waiting for the Sקמא צט
I just sent a mail to developer (at) lge.com with the same problem. The IMEI stayed the same, but the Device-ID changed when they replaced the motherboard. I had unlocked my g4 before it went in repairs. Actually the combination Genesys MM with xposed 79, G4 tweaksbox, the lack of recovery installed and USB debugging disabled is what hard bricked my phone in the first place. Something made LGUP unable to find the model of the phone.
I will update this post with any response I get from the email.
UPDATE:
It worked. They asked me to send a photo of the back of my phone (with IMEI number). After that they said I could try again and that the site should now give me the unlock.bin. It did.
Thanks LG!

H815T masked as H815?

Hello, posting for a friend.
I think my friend purchased an H815T as when he received the phone the box had H815T on it. The seller is not accepting return because the model number in the phone says H815. However, when trying to unlock the bootloader via LG, it says ARROW(SINGAPORE) and that a bootloader unlock is not available for that phone.
Is there anyway to prove this phone has been flashed with H815 firmware to mask its true model number? I can't find any field test mode information that would bypass the firmware and give him a real answer. And IMEI lookup only shows H815 and not H815T, although I'm not sure it would differentiate anyway.
All help greatly appreciated!

Your model is H815. The model that available in Singapore is H815.
You can not unlock bootloader because LG unlocks only European H815 models
Most if not all g4 are coded h815. The regional difference comes after that will determine whether u can unlock or not and as my experience goes, the region code doesn't get specified on the g4 box. Unlike Samsung, lg doesn't distinguish different regions with different codes (like gt9300, gt9301 etc) , that how lg got me too. Shifty bastard. So u probably won't be able to get the seller to accept the return due to misleading description since it is indeed h815

G4 H815 IMEI shows as Sprint G3?

I have bought an LG G4 that has some issues. The previous owner took the phone to some unofficial repair centers and now I have difficulty in even identifying the model of the phone. Now:
1. In the Settings, About the phone, Hardware info, the phone's model is listed as LG-H818
2. CPU-Z reports the device as LG G4(LG-H815). The board is msm8992.
3. Likewise, AIDA64 reports the device as LG-H815.
4. When I take the back cover, I see H815 stamped in three places at the top of the device, just above the camera module.
5. When I take the battery out, the sticker says LG-H815 but when I check the IMEI number, it shows up as belonging to LGLS990, which is Sprint LG G3! I have checked via imeidata.net and also LG CSMG Tool. Both give the same result.
6. In fastboot mode, the device shows up as locked. I registered with LG Dev. Found out about the device id and when I try to get the unlock code, it gives me this error: "Device ID is unmatched. Please check your Device ID. Your account will be locked if you enter the wrong Device ID more than 9 times."
What do you think could be going on here? Is this a refurbished device with a phony IMEI number? How can I unlock this device?
Thanks for all your help and advice.
Refurbished probably, send LG support email and they will send you unlock code

Check iemi in about device i believe network area should give the real iemi there. Prob is a refurb. Or in worst case a stolen with modified iemi if the iemi in settings is diffrent check it on swappa if the same like prev poster email lgdev they can update it
Thanks for the replies. I have spoken to an experienced technician today. He said my device was probably put together in China with a motherboard from here and chassis from there etc. So it looks I have been scammed.

Unable to access fastboot

Hi,
I just got a refurbished LG G4, and i'm unable to reboot to fastboot mode. I want to install TWRP and LineageOS. Before that i have to unlock the bootloader.
I followed this guide : [HOWTO][H815] Complete Guide to Unlock Bootloader + TWRP + Root + Xposed + ViperFX . I'm stuck at "1. Unlocking the bootloader officially" -> viii) ...adb reboot bootloader etc...
I tried on Windows and GNU/Linux "adb reboot bootloader" and "adb reboot-bootloader", with and without administrator/super-user right without any success....
The phone reboot to Android. However the phone can reboot in recovery and download mode.
The phone is still in android 5.1, and come from T Mobile (the phone suggest upgrade from T Mobile).
One strange thing is the dmesg usb connection log on GNU/Linux :
Code:
[195563.124097] usb 2-2: new high-speed USB device number 43 using ehci-pci
[195563.257487] usb 2-2: New USB device found, idVendor=1004, idProduct=631d
[195563.257498] usb 2-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[195563.257506] usb 2-2: Product: LGE Android Phone
[195563.257512] usb 2-2: Manufacturer: LG Electronics Inc.
[195563.257518] usb 2-2: SerialNumber: LGH81029e8b9d6
The serial number start with H810, and the phone is labelled H815 in the stickers under the battery, and on the info on Android...
What can I try to get the fastboot mode?
The refurbished phone says "H810" on download mode. The IMEI was modified too to appear be a H815, as the stickers etc... The phone is counterfeit...
Someone have/had the same problem?
Settings -> developer options -> OEM unlock enabled?
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA Labs

I requested a refund. The vendor falsified the IMEI and model number. The Android image seems to be frankenstein-like too. It proposes me to upgrade with "T-Mobile" (and fail at reboot), and the default welcome page on the web browser is att.net (after a complete wipe out)...
I don't know how to solve this problem. I need more LTE band (working but it's poor comparing to my Xperia Z1c). I have the band 7, but I need band 3, 20 and 28.
1. Which method (unlock bootloader, install TWRP, etc...) i must use the one for H815 or the one for the H810 ? Which image of Lineage OS ? Logically the H810 one?
2. Is there a way to revert back the phone to its original model and IMEI ?
3. Finding the original IMEI? Maybe with the original SN?
Install LG Phone From and run it,maybe you'll get more information...

I tried LG Bridge, and it detect the phone has a H815. When it tries to upgrade the phone, on the reboot, on download mode, the phone show information like H810 H81010o, and stay stuck here. The software on windows report a fail.
"LG Phone From" report a H815, with the IMEI on the label.
I read that it's possible to modify the model name(here on XDA) and the IMEI (QPSK or LG "something" by Octopuss). Seem's that some vendor in Aliexpress are not very straight...

Is there a way to revert back the phone to the correct model (H810) ?
I read this Lg G4 F500L - Fixing and Converting to International H815 Model
The solution is to modify the TOT file? How to do that ?

Did it. The discussion is on the way.
Opened the phone, the mainboard is labeled VS986.
So :
-Download mode claim H81010o
-Android show H815
-Mainboard is labeled VS986
So my phone is a VS986 (ie the mainboard). Is there a way to make it a VS986 for Android and Download Mode, like the mainboard was originally?

I tried the KDZ for Verizon (VS986). LGUP fail because the model reported is H815. I will try with "LG Flash Tool 2014".
Another solution could be writing directly the eMMC with eMMC DL Tool. I didn't find the VS986 bin file for now.
I successfully flashed the phone with "LG Flash Tool 2014".. It's now a VS986 (claimed by android) and as labeled on the motherboard.

is all working .. too bad you wont have unlocked bootloader.
Yes, and :
LTE isn't working (verizon limitation)
Sticker labelled H815
What I've found out about my G4 Frankenphone so far:
- sealed box said LG G4 'dual LTE'
- sticker on phone under battery says H811 and has a valid corresponding IMEI
- phone model in settings/device info is H810 with IMEI 0! :crying:
- download mode screen is in Korean with some mention of F500L v11d...
- the phone came rooted running LP
- it is registered on my network, working 4G LTE!
I've been hoping to custom OS and reinstate a sensible IMEI but from everything I've read and not been able to do (can't flash anything and always coming across 'barriers') and to avoid bricking the phone, I am giving up. I have contacted the vendor and told him to find a replacement, clean G4 or clean G3. Seems to me that the G3 is a lot more versatile in terms of the support, especially here, for it. I shall miss the spec. of my G4 and it's greeeat camera!
- unless someone can convince me otherwise or point me to a G4 FrankenRom link and successful instructions!

Reusing a LG Bootloader unlock.bin token

So my LGG4 is off getting repaired due to the dreaded bootloop issue. Once I have it back I plan on unlocking the Bootloader and rooting again. I have heard issues whereby repaired G4's get the 'DeviceID unmatched' error when applying for a unlock token via the LG website. I understand you can contact LG to get this rectified; however I have found the email from LG I got when I first unlocked the Bootloader, with the unlock.bin file attached.
My question is: Should I run into any DeviceID issues during the unlocking procedure, can I reuse this file to unlock my Bootloader, or do I need to go through the process to get another re-sent? The email details a specific DeviceID so my initial thought is a No, but I did wonder (hope) this number is just used to generate a generic token that is matched via the IMEI? Any help much appreciated.

Lol only reason i knew is cause i came across sam prob a few times now as u can suspect. Ive never heard of any problems with anyone and lg doing this. Should be pretty straight foward. Call em. Might have to goto a higher level of tech service not sure
Im just assuming standard support level is not very supportive lol.
This depends on how they fix your device.
Carphone Warehouse in the UK fixed mine by swapping the mainboard to a 701,
They did not tamper with the IMEI or Device ID's on the replacement board and swapped the sticker under my battery cover to reflect the new details.
I did not need to contact LG as i just requested an unlock for the new IMEI and Device ID Pair.
Hope you get sorted

i was assuming lg done his i didnt even know aftermarket companys did the repair authorized of coarse
they had to pull the device id off of the old one and program it to the new one so technicly they did tamper with it
they may have been able to pull the info from the imei i dont know but my note 5s device id changes from rom to rom sometimes and i have to update it with the company who unlocked it so it holds same imei
just trying to wrap my head around how they got uree bootlooped devices id as it can be changed even if iemi stays the same

I got a new IMEI and Device ID and just went through the unlock proceedure again with this new info.
Thats what i meant by them not tampering with it, I got a new device with my old casing/screen.
They did not transfer my IMEI or Device ID to the new board.
CPW are authorised on behalf of LG to repair the device and since i bought it from them it was easier/safer for me to take it into a store.
