I hated TouchPal from the moment I got the phone. Installed the Google Keyboard which is a lot better.

Tried most of them but always go back to Google Keyboard

I cant found sense input add on.

I pretty used to SwiftKey now, and disable touchpal in the apps settings. Which it doesnt show up in, which makes it hassle, but its possible.
I used to just use the HTC IME keyboard that came with my M8, I genuinly dont know why HTC went with touchpal. Its just not a nice keyboard.

Marketing partnership perhaps. Also, TouchPal has theming, which kinda goes with Sense's theming schtick.
Google keyboard and Swiftkey are excellent keyboards, especially for text prediction. I was using Google on my Nexus but since I no longer have an on-screen navbar, I went back to Swiftkey (I gotta have arrows) and just have TouchPal unselected and the notifications turned off.
Note that a system keyboard is required for PIN/password entry on boot; if you use that, don't remove TouchPal.

SwiftKey for 4+ years now.

Swype Keyboard is my favourite as I swipe a lot. No other keyboard seems to swipe as well as Swype does in my opinion

Once SwiftKey -allways SwiftKey ?

I have one that works but it no longer changes color with the themes which is driving me crazy! It's white with black lettering. It's actually 2 apks, the keyboard itself and the basic language pack. If you don't come across them in the thread in the HTC 10 apps and themes section, let me know and I'll upload them for you.

I have the Team Blackout latest one which includes all kinds of black and dark themes...but I still want a black themed Sense keyboard with white letters like I had...the word prediction/memory is unmatched for me...plus it swipes well

You can install the HTC keyboard with the apk here: HTC Sense Input
I'm on Nougat so this may not happen with Marshmallow, but after the install i had to disable all other keyboards to get it working.
I use either Swiftkey or the Google Keyboard. Swiftkey can be a bit frustrating at first, but once it learns from your typing style/dictionary its definitely one of the fastest keyboards.

Personnaly I am using the Sony Keyboard downloaded from Play Store
It is working marvellously

Guys, I think the best alternative here is good old HTC Sense Input.
Though, you can't download it via Google Play for our device ("Your phone is not compatible with this app"), you can do it from APK Mirror or similar repositories. And it works like a charm.
Hate HTC for trying to prevent their customers from using their great apps while owners of other phone brands perfectly enjoying them. Just DISGRACE...

Yes, 8.00.879633. This is the latest one for now.
But instead of nodpi version, I'm using 640dpi one (our phone has 565dpi, so it's the closest one). But it should just affect the size of visual elements (buttons, icons, etc). You may play with different versions and see what's the most comfortable for you.
---------- Post added at 04:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:12 AM ----------
By the way, if you feel that HTC position on HTC Sense Input for owners of HTC phones is unfair, you may consider leaving bad review for TouchPal Keyboard for HTC. As you can see, it predictably has ~4.2k "Hate it" score out of 8k total.

Anyway to have arrow keys below the keyboard?

Swype v3.26 Beta not yet compatible

As of November 26th, 2011, the latest Swype beta Swype v3.26.92.36178 (http://www.multiupload.com/IALPY1J32T) does not yet work.
It erroneously reports the screen size as 720x1,184:

}
Using the latest installer also produces an error:
I had the same problem. I find that I'm really, really missing it. Once you get used to swyping, it's hard to go back.
I wonder if 720x1184 is the size of the screen apart from the space reserved for the soft buttons. I hope to see Swype soon, touch pal isn't really the same and it is mis-sized as well on gn

I too started using Swype since Galaxy S I, it became a habit and I just can't type well without it. While waiting for Swype's support, I searched the market and found a software called SlideIt, very similar to Swype in fact it worked just fine ever since I've got my Nexus, no screen size problems at all. Give it a try guys, I'm still using the demo while waiting for Swype, or I might just buy the full version.
This is the apk of Galaxy Note if anyone wants to try it.

Same here, I also got the error message already before installing it.
I hope they will make a compatible version soon, but I find that since the screen is so big, thumb-typing like on a BlackBerry device works surprisngly well with the Nexus.
This link is already on the other Galaxy Nexus/Swype thread on XDA, but posting here for completeness: http://forum.swype.com/showthread.php?4798-Ice-Cream-Sandwich-and-or-720p-ETA
In short, the issue is that the Swype installer checks the resolution, and because of the soft keys, the reported resolution actually has 96 px chopped off the end to accommodate the soft keys.
John
still?
Has there been any development here or is Swype on Galaxy Nexus still a no-go?
What a bummer! I was just about to click the "order" button for a new Galaxy Nexus and then noticed this issue. Without Swype, I'll just stick with my 2-year-old Nexus One for now, thank you.
if you were to read the link on the swype forum, you'd find out what the status is

I feel the same way... not having compatibility with some apps is actually pretty tolerable.. swype is dope but so is the stock keyboard... the haptic feedback feels great.

if you extract the apk in display7_SwypeScreen.ini says:
Code:
NumberKeyboardNameLS = Numbers-LS
EditKeyboardNameLS = Edit-LS
MainKeyboardNameLS = Qwerty-LS
ScreenHeightLS = 288
ScreenWidthLS = 1280
ScreenDimensionLS = _HD720
NumberKeyboardNamePT = Numbers-PT
EditKeyboardNamePT = Edit-PT
MainKeyboardNamePT = Qwerty-PT
ScreenHeightPT = 426
ScreenWidthPT = 720
ScreenDimensionPT = _HD720
what numbers should the screenheightls,screenwidthls,screenheightpt,screenwidthtpt be to be compatible with galaxy nexus?
ICS+Swype
Was reading the ICS/GNex thread on Swype, and just to confirm. Swype has no issues with ICS per say, it is the screen size that is screwy for some reason. Additionally, i have found that improperly acquiring the app can cause issues (for example getting it from somebody else etc). I am enrolled in the beta programme, have been since pre-nexus days, so i just requested a downloaded the installer via the email.
Not sure why it's not compatible since the first few post on that thread says "swype officially supports 720p resolutions". It even works with the new ICS Style "add words" thing, as opposed to the old way to add words to the swype dictionary with the pop up, it seems to use the ICS Custom dictionary.
In all honesty I'm using Slideit for now and its a great replacement. It even has an ICS theme and is $0.10 today
Me too -- I was heartbroken at losing Swype, but have adjusted to SlideIt and am now happy with it. There are some SlideIt touches I'm even finding preferable.

Swype is now (somewhat) working for GNex!
I was reading droid-life comments and one guy mentioned this post on G+ about a modded Swype for the tuna.
The application works correctly on in portrait mode. He post mentioned using Keyboard Manager to switch between Swype and Android Keyboard for portrait and landscape.
Unfortunately for a noob, I can't post the link to the post. Just search "swype for galaxy nexus" on Google Plus.
I have Swype back now! Enjoy!

OK, i have the same problem.... Any updates? ive tried disabling/enabling.. etc
Same goes to me, have to switch back stock keyboard then select swype again to get back the keyboard back to resolution.
I also encounter the live wallpaper phase beam does not work at all, as well as HTC account unable to sign up.
WASSUP WITH THIS NEW PHONE?!
Have you guys tried the stock keyboard in swype mode?
This seems to be an app issue not a phone issue.
Is "live wallpaper phase beam" a stock live wallpaper? Again it could be an issue that the wallpaper doesn't support the screen resolution.
As for the "HTC account unable to sign up" this was a little stupid by HTC but they are renewing the htcsense.com website and at the moment new signups are closed. This will hopefully be launched in the near future.
ok managed to get the solutions -
option one - rotate the screen into landscape/portrait and then revert back - its sort of working.
option 2 - download another modded apk and use instead of the swype beta installer version...ive got the apk and can upload somewhere,but by xda rules are we allowed to post swype apk's?

Thanks for the info mate.
Hey guys, I got swype installed on my OneX and was using it for a couple of days. Don't remember what I did but my swype got scaled down to about the bottom 1/5th of the screen which I like, since I can see way much more than the current 1/2 screen.
I encountered the lazy drag ring to unlock bug and had to reset my OneX and then I encountered the same problem as rahularora1 where the swype keyboard got scaled down to the bottom left. I changed input method to HTC touch and back to swype to solve the problem but I wanna get the 1/5 sized keyboard back! anyone knows how to do that?
update:
I managed to somehow activate the small swype again (once again, totally unaware of what I did) did a screencap of how it looks like.
I noticed this problem and get around it by rotating the screen to landscape then back again. It stays correct from then on. (until you kill the process)
Swype author needs to fix
Think there might be a bigger problem with Swype - I think it's the culprit for killing auto-rotate function.
Happened to me twice and had to reset. Didn't reinstall 3rd time and no more problems so far

This is a very, very annoying problem for me.
Since I write in swiss german, which is a completely own language, I was relying on the app "Sms to swype" to import my sms into the dictionary of swype, because teaching it all the thousands of words in swiss german would be a giant PITA.
Problem 1)
Stock Swype (which came built-in with the H1X) won't let me download the german package, which I need for the german forums
Problem 2) Swype Beta (after deinstalling stock) is scaled much too small
I hope Problem 2) gets solved fast, as I can't return to Stock Swype without having to reflash the ARHD, because I somehow messed up the backup with Titanium
Hello guys , I have solution for u for the swype being small.
Download and install swype for Galaxy Note from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538901
First time it will appear unscaled, do the "rotation trick" and than it will be awesome and with proper size ))
I did it, it works perfectly for me. (I use Cyanogenmod9 port for HOX)
Cheers
I do the rotate trick and it fixes the problem for me, although the keys size has shrunk quite a bit. I prefer the smaller looking keyboard though, as I can see more of the screen above it then.

SwiftKey 3 beta

Any thoughts? It's really weird to me (gives weird predictions, splitting words in half)
I'll just chalk it up to it being in beta.
It's really good looking though.
after 2 days of testing, i love it. it still in beta, cant expect much from it. also, smart spacing is amazing and larger spacebar too.

Yeah the smart spacing is pretty cool. Don't know why they even have a space bar lol. Easiest way to type ever lol.
To me it's either Swype or Swiftkey 3, I'll give Swiftkey 3 a try when I can.
I gave up on swype after finding it hard to adopt to one hand swyping, loving swiftkey beta 3
Where can I find the beta? Wasn't on the play store

I tried the beta, and while I loved it, giving me nostalgia back to my days of my old droid 2, its just too buggy(rom and keyboard) for me. And the vibrations just feel weird to me.

For those of you who want to get the beta, look up SwiftKey vip on Google and sign up on their website's forums and install the beta directly on your phone after you get the confirmation email.
I'm loving it a lot of my only vendetta against SwiftKey X was that the space bar was too small. Although if I had the opportunity I'd replace the voice recognition button with a comma.

I'm really enjoying it, but I do have a few gripes about it.
-It's super slow in Chrome's address bar. Then again, so is the stock keyboard.
-I don't like the method for inputting "! ? , ." symbols. I miss having the , to the left of the keyboard.
-I wish I could disable the Settings key in the left corner.
-I don't like the numbers/special characters keyboards.
But it's fast, it's super accurate, and I don't mind the Holo theme. Actually even Cobalt is kind of nice, but Holo is nicer.
By the way, for those who want to tweak the haptic feedback duration, I've always used 12ms on the stock keyboard (and this one) and found to be a lot nicer than the "tickle" you get at 5ms.
Since ics I hate any other keyboards.
Swift key lacks one main feature which is dictation that I use on most occasions. Secondly the keyboard is very slow and inaccurate.. It just doesn't feel as Smooth as stock keyboard.
Dictation is the main reason I'm not using this keyboard

One thing it needs is to use Google talk to text as it still uses the older one as you can't speak while it types it in, you have to speak then it will input.

Needs a couple changes and the ability to customize some of the key button locations.
Otherwise, it's the best keyboard I've ever used on any phone. Period.

Ditto to the smart spacing. The punctuation is the best. There's isn't an option to change hold times on keys which bugs me because 500ms is too long.

Yes, I really miss this from the Swiftkey X. I mean, REALLY miss this! Besides that, it is a great keyboard, I've been using it for the past 2 days...
I just wish we could be able to swap the special characters key with the options key... and the options key with a comma key.
smart spacing works but it gets confused when you go back to edit a word. I hope they fix it for the final release.

Really popular in Japan, Apple added it to iOS for Japanese users and it was enabled through apps that require jailbreaking in non-Japanese devices and became rather popular from what I understand. They're kind of amusing and fun to use occasionally.

Well emoji is just Japanese for emoticon. Android has always had emoticons built in, albeit Android themed ones. What's so special about the standard Japanese ones?
Maybe I don't understand cause I don't really use them at all...I usually use the simple =D =P kind of ones or try to creatively word my sentences to put emotion in it.
Well Now they are iPhone compatible so you can send them to and from iPhones and there are many more then android.

You can by going in they keyboard settings and downloading the emoji dictionary. Then when you type stuff like sun, star, heart, smile the icon shows up.
3rd party SMS apps such as chompsms, go sms, handcent have had emoji support for awhile now.
They leave a lot to be desired.

The emoji support this has isn't the same as the iPhone. My wife has an iPhone (I know, I married her before I knew her phone preferences) and I can't see any of her emoji. She can however see mine as some kind of greyscale, dumb downed version.

Hey guys, made a stop here to ask about this thing since I love the touchwiz pro 8.4 keyboard. I like touchwiz but since I havent figured out how to fix the "Com.android system ui" with chromecast and is driving me really crazy, so maybe installing cyanogen will fix the issue and everyones happy.
Thanks for the tips.

swiftkey keyboard has a floating keyboard option, assuming this is your reason.
What is the problem with chromecast? If you're looking for screen mirroring, you can use the #MirrorEnabler hack
The tablet crashed when streaming to chromecast because the status bar on touchwiz has the volume embeded to it, it's a known issue, but, I was able to solve the issue by flashing with the new official rom posted on sammobile. The main reason I love the touchwiz keyboard is that the soft keyboard has "arrow keys" that allow you to move in between the text without using your finger directly in the text which is always unrelaible IMO.
Thanks for your tip.
(if you know a keyboard with this function pls let me know)

Seconded! In addition, having the extra top row of number/symbol keys worked really on well in portraid mode. And having the <Del> key there was a godsend.
IMO though the Samsung keyboard had major issues despite the above... I seem to remember the gesture typing sucking, and the punctuation: it'd constantly replace "..." with ". .." or some other variation.
I wonder how hard it would be to take the AOSP keyboard and add these things to it...

Thanks for supporting this, like nathan said, the samsung keyboard is unparalelled in some features that make typing in the table more confortable in a tablet, also, with all this extra keys added to the keyboard it does not feel overly populated it is still elegant and very functional myself I love it.
PD: I extracted the apk's from the tablet (Samsung IME) and tried to install on my oneplus one and failed maybe they install only on samsung devices, nathan you have cyanogen installed on your 8.4? wanna give the apk a try? like I said on the one plus one it fails.

Yeah definitely man, I didn't bother backing up my stock ROM but if you have the APKs I'd be glad to try 'em.
Here, both files where extracted using droid-maid, let me know how it goes!

Manually place the two files in root/data/app/ , reboot and it will possibly work
On the other hand, I think you can find the functionality in Hacker's Keyboard
I have no idea nathan, but what arcadia said might be true.
Are you rooted?

Thanks! I was just about to suggest that, I use Hacker's Keyboard myself but not all the time as it doesn't do gesture typing at all.
I'll give the apk/odex files another shot just out of curiosity. ai.type looks really good though, too!

I'm loving this keyboard as well but watch out! You have to go to settings and either turn Cloud Prediction off or at least enable encryption. By default it sends every keystroke to their servers in plaintext!!
just so you guys know, the Samsung/Touchwiz keyboard is actually a customized version of SwiftKey
so you could also just get SwiftKey (which is free)
Unless it's changed or I didn't find it in settings swift keyboard does not have arrow keys, delete key and functionality of numbers row on top like stock samsung. Nor does ai. The features of the samsung keyboard are simple yet mean a world of difference when editing and typing in general. I have found no keyboard that equals it, I wish I could so I could use it on my other tablets. And dont come with hackers cause the buttons just do not have the same ease of use. The keyboard is one thing samsung got right.
Hi
I used Kitkat for long time so it's really a pity that i can find no possibility to get back the original Keybord on my t525
Hope for help
Regards
Witzker
