Hey guys, made a stop here to ask about this thing since I love the touchwiz pro 8.4 keyboard. I like touchwiz but since I havent figured out how to fix the "Com.android system ui" with chromecast and is driving me really crazy, so maybe installing cyanogen will fix the issue and everyones happy.
Thanks for the tips.

swiftkey keyboard has a floating keyboard option, assuming this is your reason.
What is the problem with chromecast? If you're looking for screen mirroring, you can use the #MirrorEnabler hack
The tablet crashed when streaming to chromecast because the status bar on touchwiz has the volume embeded to it, it's a known issue, but, I was able to solve the issue by flashing with the new official rom posted on sammobile. The main reason I love the touchwiz keyboard is that the soft keyboard has "arrow keys" that allow you to move in between the text without using your finger directly in the text which is always unrelaible IMO.
Thanks for your tip.
(if you know a keyboard with this function pls let me know)

Seconded! In addition, having the extra top row of number/symbol keys worked really on well in portraid mode. And having the <Del> key there was a godsend.
IMO though the Samsung keyboard had major issues despite the above... I seem to remember the gesture typing sucking, and the punctuation: it'd constantly replace "..." with ". .." or some other variation.
I wonder how hard it would be to take the AOSP keyboard and add these things to it...

Thanks for supporting this, like nathan said, the samsung keyboard is unparalelled in some features that make typing in the table more confortable in a tablet, also, with all this extra keys added to the keyboard it does not feel overly populated it is still elegant and very functional myself I love it.
PD: I extracted the apk's from the tablet (Samsung IME) and tried to install on my oneplus one and failed maybe they install only on samsung devices, nathan you have cyanogen installed on your 8.4? wanna give the apk a try? like I said on the one plus one it fails.

Manually place the two files in root/data/app/ , reboot and it will possibly work

I'm loving this keyboard as well but watch out! You have to go to settings and either turn Cloud Prediction off or at least enable encryption. By default it sends every keystroke to their servers in plaintext!!
just so you guys know, the Samsung/Touchwiz keyboard is actually a customized version of SwiftKey
so you could also just get SwiftKey (which is free)
Unless it's changed or I didn't find it in settings swift keyboard does not have arrow keys, delete key and functionality of numbers row on top like stock samsung. Nor does ai. The features of the samsung keyboard are simple yet mean a world of difference when editing and typing in general. I have found no keyboard that equals it, I wish I could so I could use it on my other tablets. And dont come with hackers cause the buttons just do not have the same ease of use. The keyboard is one thing samsung got right.
Hi
I used Kitkat for long time so it's really a pity that i can find no possibility to get back the original Keybord on my t525

Doesn't work. There's I believe LCD density issues that cause the modded htc keyboard to look tiny.
"the relentless pursuit of the perfect rom" now on the gnex
jonasl's HTC_IME Keyboard for ICS works great for me. The only problem is the keyboard is low res. It looks a little blurred but it's full size. I tried replacing the pngs with some from the htc rezound which should be 720p but I'm a noob and it just crashes. I'm sure I have to edit some config files somewhere... I'll keep trying but here's jonasl's apk.
why would you want to have the HTC Keyword?.

I like the HTC keyboard personally. I prefer Thumb Keyboard though. £1.49 on the play store

Sense 4.0 KB
I'm not sure where I got this apk so I can't give credit. Just know that I didn't make it or port it or anything. I've seen two threads now asking for this and figured I may as well. It looks great and works perfectly on our device. I left the name just as the person who made it intended. If anyone knows who it is, please let me know so I can give proper credit. In the meantime, enjoy.
Edit: this apparently is not the ime but a clone of the sense 4.0 kb

Thought it was. Must be a modded standard kb? It is identical to sense 4.0 kb though. I installed it on my sensation running sense 4.0 and there was no difference. What I remember from when the dude posted it was he changed stuff for the French side of it. Either way thought I'd post it.

I think the OP was looking for one that will work with the 720p resolution and not be blurry.
I'm looking specifically for the OneX version with Trace input.
what I'm looking for is a whatever-sense-version which includes the T9 layout!
Yes, I know there are a lot of paid KB out there mimicking the t9 layout but none of them is any close to HTC's T9 keyboard...

A week or two ago I switched from a BlackBerry to a Samsung Galaxy S3. One of the features that I was used to with a BlackBerry for 5+ years was the red underlining of misspelled words that could be selected and presented with a bunch of choices for the correct spelling. I find the predictive text feature makes too many mistakes and slows me down too much when typing so I want to have this same functionality on my S3. I thought I would have that feature from reading this prior to making the switch:
The URL here states:
"To fix misspelled words more easily, Android 4.0 adds a spell-checker that locates and underlines errors and suggests replacement words. With one tap, you can choose from multiple spelling suggestions, delete a word, or add it to the dictionary. You can even tap to see replacement suggestions for words that are spelled correctly..."

This feature/option is absolutely no where to be found on my Telus S3. I have read that Samsung removed it, and that in order to get it back I have to do some crazy 'hacking' mentioned here. While I do have my S3 rooted (it was easy to root) doing what is suggested in the post above seems very difficult and risky... has anyone tried what is mentioned in this post or does anyone know of another way to get the 'red underlining' spell check feature on a Samsung S3? Something via a 3rd party keyboard would be fine with me, but I've tried 4 or 5 so far and none seem to have this feature.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Hmm, where can I find that? Is it under "Language and input"? Because under there I just have "Samsung Keyboard" and "Google voice typing" as Keyboards and input methods.
Grab the stock ICS android keyboard and use that instead of the samsung one. You can find it on the play store.
After that use the language settings to make it the default keyboard.

Correct, changing keyboard will not fix this. I can confirm it was not present in the Samsung S3 default firmware.
Now that I'm on CM10, it is there and working. I'm sure there's a few custom ROMs that have this feature enabled.
pretty stupid,
almost certain samsung's website lists spell checker as a feature
So CM10 is available for Telus SGH-I747M? Hmmm, I'm pretty new to the Android scene. I assume it's going to be a lot of work switching myself over to CM10... I wonder how well Light Flow would work on CM10 as well. Bah I guess I have a ton of reading to do.

It is available, but in a preview state. Lots of people using it as a daily driver, but there are still outstanding issues that could hold you back. Flashing it is not too difficult, just follow this for any ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
Not sure about Light Flow, never used it. But depending on what you're using it for, CM10 does in include a few more LED customization options over stock, notably color and pulse rate control on a per app basis.

CM10, at least, is nowhere near complete so it's hard to say what the final camera will include. The most recent update included a massive amount of camera improvements, and I'm sure there are more to come.
Burst mode is missing but I just confirmed that taking a picture while shooting a video works. Just have to tap the screen.
Any update on the status of spell check?
Is there no way to incorporate spell check into the Samsung Galaxy S3?
I've searched for hours trying to understand why there is no spell check on board the S3. Some people say it is a keyboard function, while other's say it is a ROM function. If it is a ROM function, can you please point me to a ROM which does have spell check. Thank you.

I could be wrong and this is my first post but with the telus carrier anyways the spell check is there but it's in a weird location. If you enable Predictive text which one of the options under the samsung keyboard settings and than actually click on predictive text you will get a whole pile of options which has spell check, word completion next word and all that stuff. Hope this helps if not o well.

Anyone else know how to incorporate the spell check into the stock rom. I have tried Task's & Ktoonsez AOKP 4.2.1 by , but the rom has issues with saving pictures to my 32GB SD card. Can we add spell check into the stock rom?

The LG G3 brought plenty of useful features to make your life easy including a new keyboard application. LG G3’s smart keyboard is much interesting with some useful functions. This smart keyboard slowly shifts the way you use to type as it likes to track your typing behavior. It tries to learn your meanings and make your typing very easy. You have option to change the size of keyboard depending on your needs like you should adjust it according to your fingers. Furthermore you can stretch out the keys and change the symbols on the side of space bar. When you get frustrated skipping via menus looking for a comma or some special bracket, you should be comfortable with this keyboard a lot as you can customize individual keys.
If you are using the LG G2, it is possible LG will bring the same features of G3 to your phone via OTA. But it may take longer. you can now flash the LG smart keyboard on your LG G2 using a custom recovery.

I pretty used to SwiftKey now, and disable touchpal in the apps settings. Which it doesnt show up in, which makes it hassle, but its possible.

Marketing partnership perhaps. Also, TouchPal has theming, which kinda goes with Sense's theming schtick.
Google keyboard and Swiftkey are excellent keyboards, especially for text prediction. I was using Google on my Nexus but since I no longer have an on-screen navbar, I went back to Swiftkey (I gotta have arrows) and just have TouchPal unselected and the notifications turned off.
Note that a system keyboard is required for PIN/password entry on boot; if you use that, don't remove TouchPal.
SwiftKey for 4+ years now.
Swype Keyboard is my favourite as I swipe a lot. No other keyboard seems to swipe as well as Swype does in my opinion

You can install the HTC keyboard with the apk here: HTC Sense Input
I'm on Nougat so this may not happen with Marshmallow, but after the install i had to disable all other keyboards to get it working.
I use either Swiftkey or the Google Keyboard. Swiftkey can be a bit frustrating at first, but once it learns from your typing style/dictionary its definitely one of the fastest keyboards.
Personnaly I am using the Sony Keyboard downloaded from Play Store
It is working marvellously
Guys, I think the best alternative here is good old HTC Sense Input.
Though, you can't download it via Google Play for our device ("Your phone is not compatible with this app"), you can do it from APK Mirror or similar repositories. And it works like a charm.
Hate HTC for trying to prevent their customers from using their great apps while owners of other phone brands perfectly enjoying them. Just DISGRACE...

Yes, 8.00.879633. This is the latest one for now.
But instead of nodpi version, I'm using 640dpi one (our phone has 565dpi, so it's the closest one). But it should just affect the size of visual elements (buttons, icons, etc). You may play with different versions and see what's the most comfortable for you.

By the way, if you feel that HTC position on HTC Sense Input for owners of HTC phones is unfair, you may consider leaving bad review for TouchPal Keyboard for HTC. As you can see, it predictably has ~4.2k "Hate it" score out of 8k total.
Anyway to have arrow keys below the keyboard?
First of all I don't own a magic device however I use the magic firmware on my Honor 8 so I can't cover up all info about magic usage but most of them.
So Q/A
I can't install third party launchers, why?
Because huawei blocked this on this firmware. To install third party launchers you'll need root.
So I got a launcher installed. But I can't see any widgets?
Open /system/etc/permissions/handheld_core_hardware.xml and find there will be a # before it which disables the feature. Just remove it and reboot.
Why doesn't notifications work?
By default third party apps gets disabled notifications (idk why) go to notifications and enable them for your new installed apps.
I can't see nfc option?
This is due to being disabled in earlier builds. However B536.1 evaluation versions brings nfc settings.
Some options are still in Chinese why?
They have informed you that the English language is still in beta (unfinished) this we might be able to fix with overlays.
More will come.

What I can tell for now no I haven't seen any indication of it update wise . And since it's a test device rather then a official retail device it is likely they only are going to fix bugs etc. However I can't tell to a 100% but as its a half year since the device is released I doubt nougat is coming in near feature (if at all) there's no info as far as I can see (though I can't read or search in Chinese)

Honor magic usage
Hi There,
Magic phone is indeed magic like, feels really great and looks beautiful, very smooth feel in hand.
Needed few tips and tricks to make more use of it.
Are these possible without root, if rooted office email app will be blocked
1) How to install launcher as system app, Please pls guide. I'm dying to install Neon, Zero.
2) How to install Ultra battery mode? - it is present in Honor 6 and it's awesome!
3) Is it possible to reduce resolution - Screen power saving - like Honor 6, saves battery during night and driving
4) Possible to change keyboard during typing? Popups doesn't show in notification shade, it's painful to go to settings n change every time
TIA.
Tnx,
Shreyas

1. Without root is not possible to install any 3rd party launcher except google launcher.
2. Do you mean the ultrabattery launcher which comes with huawei? If so it could be possible.
3. Resolution i doubt without root, and no idea about that feature.
4. We'll if you don't use navigation bar no, if you do it might work. Can't tell since I don't use that firmware atm but I never saw any fast switch for keyboard

Hi,
I can't figure out how to remove the carrier name from the notification bar on the magic. There seems not to be any option in settings.
Any tips? Phone is rooted.
Thanks,
er

I think you can edit it somewhere in a xml
Or in a prop file
Say me can you help me with oeminfo?
Or are you using the magicdevice?
Sent from my FRD-L09 using Tapatalk
Yes I am using a magic for the moment.
I've been trying to find it in the props and xmls, but I didn't find "carrier" or "operator" with a grep. It might be called something else.
Google Launcher doesn’ Work. After the installation, when I try to open it, appear an error message who advise I need to change launcher in Settings-Home but in Settings there isn’t “home”
