Hi everyone have gotten a opportunity to buy a HTC one m9 in mint condition but it is a test device it says and says not for sale on the back. Runs "tell HTC " in the background all the time also. So I am wondering if I could get and run a custom Rom or run the RUU for it and get rid of the message and have a working phone? Thanks in advance

im looking for simmilar program/app for HTC wildfire
Afternoon All,
My mic on my phone has stopped working and thankfully my phone is still under warranty so HTC are taking it back.
I'm currently running an ICS ROM on it and since HTC may be a bit iffy about my Rooted phone I need to set it all back.
I have heard about RUU's that I can run to reset the phone to stock, however I don't know which HTC Vision one to choose for my phone.
Any help would be appreciate as HTC are picking the phone up tomorrow.
Cheers.
I am going to be receiving my One X in the mail sometime later today. I was definitely going to put custom roms on it, and I was intending on using this universal bootloader unlock, instead of the HTC Dev method. Just hoping I could save my warranty. Here's a link to the thread.

Anyway if I ever needed warranty for anything I was wondering if it is possible to get the bootloader to "locked" instead of "relocked". Also i bought the international edition off of ebay, i was wondering if I got warranty on it here in the U.S?

No and No.
We don't have S-Off yet.
The problem with the latter has to do with import restrictions due to Apple being <expletive>. Well, somebody else said they couldn't get a mainboard, that might change, but don't hold your breath. HTC do provide a warranty it in theory though, but unlocking it won't help.
OK thanks for the info. Probably still going to unlock it, but at least I know what I'm getting into.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that method works with the One X. On pg18 of that thread "Seaskyways" says that only "MTD" devices work.

Hey all,
I don't know what to do... I have a HTC One M8 and unfortunately it came with a firmware incapable of being s-off'd with Firewater... After a few days of usage I noticed that my IR Blaster had stopped working completely and I have TWO days left on my 14-day return period. (today and tomorrow) I don't get paid till Monday and it will be too late for me to pay for the SunShine S-Off to return my device to the T-Mobile store... What can I do? I have no problem paying it is just that I cannot do so right this moment... Is there a dev for SunShine that I could contact to maybe arrange something? I am so scared I'll be stuck with this broken device. :'(
I assume you've rooted it? As you've not mentioned that you have so far there's nothing to stop you sending it back...

Yes I have and it shows tampered/unlocked.
Ah, OK...in which case without Sunshine you're stuck. You'd be able to go back to stock by flashing your backup and stock recovery but without S-OFF they'll always know

I'm pretty sure you can use a T-Mobile RUU by relocking the bootloader to return to stock.
RUU here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714456
Dire need? Just wow.

Also, you could just try and return it as is (assuming you still have a Sense ROM loaded onto the device). I've returned phones both completely back to stock and rooted with custom ROMS/Recoveries and they don't care or even check (in my experience). Heck, I had one guy not even open the box to make sure the phone was actually in the box. As long as it's powered on you should be fine.
Hey all,
I just recently lost my HTC one M8 and replaced it with an HTC One M8 from HongKong. It just let me update to 4.4.3 but now won't let me update to 4.4.4 or even 5.0. I had an HTC One M8(x) previously and I am living and working in China but that updated fine. This new one however won't. It looks and feels real, is there an app that I can run which can detect if it's a fake?
Thanks guys. Any infro would be of help. I have 4 days left to return to them for a full refund.
Surely wherever you bought it from is a clue. If you bought it from a reputable store then it's real. No question.
Get an app from the playstore. Like device info or such. Just hit in that and something will pop up
Even better is to boot into the bootloader and post here what it says !
Hold power button & volume up, when the screen goes black you switch from volume up to down and keep them pressed until you see the bootloader
