Hi, so after I updated from the June 1 update to the August 5, the model name in the About Phone section in Settings changed from MOB30M to MOB30Y. Is that just an update thing, or is it something else? Help is appreciated

Yes, that changes with every security update.
This is the Nexus 5X forum though. You have a a Nexus 5. You should search before you if you have questions and if you do post, it should be in the correct form. You could get information here that will brick your phone. Good luck.

Oops, must have misread that, sorry! Thanks anyway
The update menu shows "1 Jan 1970"
Plus the boot animation has been replaced to something similar to virus, the logo has tentacles. Anyone encounter it?

I understand. I am OK, if I am fooled. But not OK to be fooled forever. You mean the build I installed will be permanent, I mean next couple of builds won't change? If that is the case should I revert back to older build??
I am noob, but a curious one :silly:
Flashing a newer version will remove it. Already gone on my device

I have a HTC 10 that's bought in Taiwan, can I use an update from the states? (found here: htc.c om/us/support/htc-10/news/)
the reason I'm wanting to update is because I'm currently on software number 2.41.709.7, which is a security update from January ; whereas the states have one from May.
When I check for updates on the phone, it tells me I'm on the latest update.
Is there any reason where I shouldn't use the american update? (ie: carrier issues or whatever?)

You will need to S Off so yoyu can change your MID and CID otherwise it wont work. You will most likely lose VOLTE using another firmware thats different from your carrier. If its just an updated security patch your after i wouldnt even bother. Just wait for the update
Yea the question is more if it's worth to spend 25$ to get updates to address security flaws that almost surely would not have affected you anyway.

How is that relevant to what I said?
Just got offered this. Up through Nov security patch. I'm not on Verizon, FYI since I know they have their own upgrade path.
Nice! I'll have to flash back to stock to see if I can grab the OTA. Also post a screenshot of the "about device" screen once your OTA finishes.

Will do, although I'm traveling for work now and like to do these things when I'm home and settled. Should be able to install on Wed.
Well, I received the OTA as well. I captured the flashable zip file for it, so feel free to sideload away at will. (At your own risk, of course.)

I also got the update just a few minutes ago as well. And I am on Verizon. Maybe we will see the January patch soon enough.

Yeah.. I should have shared that I'm on at&t.
Only took two months for this one.. I'm hoping to see Oreo soon. Seems like it's been rolling out on other Motorola devices from the same generation. I'm really hoping for improved memory management.
Everything else on this device is awesome to me.. except GPS. I don't really understand why it has so much trouble until I start moving for a little bit. Never had issues with any other phone I've owned

Oh... So this means we'll have to wait more for oreo, or may this be a "preparation" for oreo? What does this update brings? I don't have any stability issues..
Well it would make sense to have most devices on the same firmware for a seamless OREO upgrade...
Argh, this is just taking too long unfortunately.

Us RETUS haven't gotten the November patch yet, so it's new to us. I just read what was on the changelog. You may be right about the Oreo preps though.

Did you buy the G5+ directly from Lenovo/Moto unlocked, or through your carrier? There might be a different patchset depending on any carrier the phone might be locked to. Also grab a screenshot of the about device screen if you can.

I can confirm that the November patch is in the -93 retus update.
.
This is indeed only the November 1st security patch update. How do you not check this stuff before posting wrong information!? Idiots....

If you read this forum looks like the whole world, are currently getting 93, which highly suggests one big update coming ?

Nah, that means Motovo/Lenovorola is slow AF in releasing updates.

Your file can be flash vía twrp? Cuz ive root and dont wanna lose... Im a little newbie and i dont know much about it.
Why is there 2 release numbers for Q? Which one is the proper one to use for Google Pixel 3Xl.(not verizon)
TIA
According to what I've read .019 is for those who were already on the betas and .020 is for those upgrading from Pie.
Not true, as I was on the last beta and the OTA pulled down .20 for me....
Honestly, they are hiding something here given the fact that there is NO documentation. I just got off chat with Pixel support. After going round and round and the agent claiming that it all depends on a bunch of stuff according to her "resources" she asked the resources one more time and they said that since you are flashing manually they recommended downloading .20 even though it completely contradicts the numbering method of every other Pixel file since the beginning when there was more than one (agnostic was always the first or lowest number and carrier specific after).

Same here. I didn't notice there were two and just downloaded the last one in the list and sideloaded in stock recovery. Kind of glad I didn't notice so I was ignorant of any confusion.
