Hi, so after I updated from the June 1 update to the August 5, the model name in the About Phone section in Settings changed from MOB30M to MOB30Y. Is that just an update thing, or is it something else? Help is appreciated

Yes, that changes with every security update.
This is the Nexus 5X forum though. You have a a Nexus 5. You should search before you if you have questions and if you do post, it should be in the correct form. You could get information here that will brick your phone. Good luck.

Oops, must have misread that, sorry! Thanks anyway

I have the Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) phone. After reading and reading through these forums, I was able to complete the following:
1. Downloaded and installed Galaxy Nexus Toolkit V5.4
2. Unlocked the bootloader (which wiped all data)
3. Upgraded to 4.0.4
4. Rooted the phone.
My Galaxy Nexus now has a great 3G/4G signal, switches from landscape to portrait immediately and generally works great! It is without a doubt the best phone I have ever had!
In one of the other posts, I read that this phone is going to be upgraded by the end of March 2012. Since I already have the 4.0.4, what is this going to do to my phone? Should I be concerned?
as 4.0.4 ota isnt really there yet i guess you installed the leaked rom or a mod based on the leaked rom. that will probably have broken your ability to receive ota updates. If the rom you use right now is stock or very close to stock you could just flash a rom from google when the ota update is out and then receive it to get 4.0.4.
In short there is probably gonna happen just nothing when the update is released.

The OTA update link IS OUT, as some have received it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22214858&postcount=1
EDIT: In case anyone did not read the first post in this thread, and did not realize we are talking about Verizon (i.e., the CDMA/LTE version of the GN), the link I posted in this post is not for the GSM/HSPA version...

Given this thread is related to Verizon (stated in the original post), I think it should be pretty obvious.

/me reads thread title and scratches head "[CDMA]Verizon Galaxy Nexus Update URLs"
good day.
4.0.4 ota = 404 ?
Does anyone find the numbering of this Android version ironic?
Here is this OTA that a few people received, but is "not found" by most of us, and it is numbered 4.0.4... oddly similar to the HTTP 404 error code for other resources that aren't around when we want them.
New Unknown Update uploading FTF soon
Any news? Have you tried it? Which version is it?
Definitely curious...
Other news?

Hmmm... wonder if someone could md5 some of the files (or boot image) to see if they're the same or not...
just a change in customization number R1D to R2D.
As this thread is just a placeholder, I have closed it.
I also moved it to the proper section
If you wish to update the thread please PM me.
Hi
Nexus 7 2014 on 4.4. Was rooted but back on stock and locked. No sign of OTA update as of 5th Dec 2014. Am I missing something ?
Been on stock for a few months now.
Anyone else with the same issue ?
Look around, this has been asked and answered so many times.
As mentioned, look in other similar threads. To summarize 5.0 is pushed out in waves, you can still sideload though (even with no root etc). Look in the appropriate thread for instructions.

Hi Brothers, patchs of november its avaliable now in official site
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
whats new in this update please??
I feel like an idiot. I have no idea which is the newest one for Marshmallow.
I've read this and I just can't grasp it.
The second letter is a branch code that allows Google to identify the exact code branch that the build was made from, and R is by convention the primary release branch.
The next letter and two digits are a date code. The letter counts quarters, with A being Q1 2009. Therefore, F is Q2 2010. The two digits count days within the quarter, so F85 is June 24 2010.
Finally, the last letter identifies individual versions related to the same date code, sequentially starting with A; A is actually implicit and usually omitted for brevity.
The date code is not guaranteed to be the exact date at which a build was made, and it is common that minor variations added to an existing build re-use the same date code as that existing build.

If you mean installing the OTA in sideload, yes i have. Very easy to do and no issues do far.
The update menu shows "1 Jan 1970"
Plus the boot animation has been replaced to something similar to virus, the logo has tentacles. Anyone encounter it?

I understand. I am OK, if I am fooled. But not OK to be fooled forever. You mean the build I installed will be permanent, I mean next couple of builds won't change? If that is the case should I revert back to older build??
I am noob, but a curious one :silly:
Flashing a newer version will remove it. Already gone on my device
