I go into About phone -> System updates
then i press check now, and then it says : Your system is currently up to date. Last checked for update is : {current time}.
Strange! Weird that you don't get the option for the update. Another option for you would be to root and rom the phone. That way you don't have to wait for OTA you can just install yourself. Good luck anyway

It appears that Google isn't pushing the updates all at once. In the Netherlands people reported the update allready in december and some where getting it in januari. I myself got it about a week and a half ago. I guess all it needs is a little patience ;-)

I'm not sure. Some say it might have to do with batches of phones that have been manufactured and shipped but I didn't see any proof of that. All I know is that I myself got the update about 2 weeks after I first got the phone this month and that other people got it in december. I even saw people who got their phones in December and got the update later then me...
I geuss the truth is in the hands and wisdom of Google ;-)

There are some variations of the phone, some are updated by google and some by Samsung. I had YAKJUXW before and didnt get the updates, but after i changed to YAKJU the update came immidiately after i booted the phone.
The difference of the builds is just regional i think, but i could be wrong.

True. Forgot about that. But the fact remains that also with JAKJU the update was rolled out in stages. I myself have a JAKJU and I heard of many getting the OTA for 4.0.2 on different moments.
If you have a JAKJUxx build the update should indeed come from Samsung.

CAn you explain in short notes, what is YAKJUXW and YAKJU ?
edit : i have installed android system info, and i have found out this :
Fingerprint : samsung/yakjuxw ...
product : yakjuxw
how to change to yakju ? do i have to root phone or do something like flashing roms ? (like i did with all the hts before ? )

U will have to flash the JAKJU build so yeah, unlocking, rooting etc. There is a thread somewhee about this in this forum... I think you can also use MSKIPs tooling for that but I'm not sure...

I followed the guide in the second post of this thread to change from YAKJUXW to YAKJU.
/edit:
I don't know if the Norwegian T9 will be included in the YAKJU builds, it is NOT in the build i have now though (I'm using Swiftkey X, so it's not so important for me).
Is there any good reason why Samsung is giving out some phones with yakju and others with yakjuxw? Is Samsung doing anything with the build from Google before releasing it to us? Like adding apps or settings or restrictions?
I'm still on 4.0.1 as well. Wish I would get the update!

They are more than likely carrier tweaks, rather than Samsung. Could be anything from corporate colors to tweaks and restrictions to the OS...
Just out of curiousity, if I flash a custom dev rom (ie. cm9 or aokp), will my phone become yajku?
Nope, you will be dependent upon the ROM dev for updates (which will likely be more frequent), and you will probably have to flash them yourself...
I followed this method.. Everything is great now

I don't think this right. For example, here in Canada, all of the carriers have the same build, the yakjuux. It is not carrier dependent, so that's why I don't think there are carrier tweaks. (Unless of course, all the carriers in Canada use the same tweaks!) The same goes for the yakjuxw builds. Those are found in more than one country, and on more than one carrier, so... ?
Just got offered this. Up through Nov security patch. I'm not on Verizon, FYI since I know they have their own upgrade path.
Nice! I'll have to flash back to stock to see if I can grab the OTA. Also post a screenshot of the "about device" screen once your OTA finishes.

Will do, although I'm traveling for work now and like to do these things when I'm home and settled. Should be able to install on Wed.
Well, I received the OTA as well. I captured the flashable zip file for it, so feel free to sideload away at will. (At your own risk, of course.)

Yeah.. I should have shared that I'm on at&t.
Only took two months for this one.. I'm hoping to see Oreo soon. Seems like it's been rolling out on other Motorola devices from the same generation. I'm really hoping for improved memory management.
Everything else on this device is awesome to me.. except GPS. I don't really understand why it has so much trouble until I start moving for a little bit. Never had issues with any other phone I've owned

Oh... So this means we'll have to wait more for oreo, or may this be a "preparation" for oreo? What does this update brings? I don't have any stability issues..
Well it would make sense to have most devices on the same firmware for a seamless OREO upgrade...
Argh, this is just taking too long unfortunately.

*#*#227#*#* after doing this i noticed it states ( see attachments )
I am curious why image modification is yes? was this due to upgrading to Android Pie, manually??
Also it says Root Reason: 10 records, when I go into this, it shows Boot Not Match 3, on 10 occasions
I was wondering what this all means, is their anything wrong or is this normal.
Thanks for any advice / assistance in advance.
Same here after manual update, so I'm curious also...
Me to, now im thinking will we still get updates.
Same here after receiving Pie automatically on TA-1068. Never had problems with updates, so I guess the explanation lies elsewhere.

Thanks Eric, I just checked and wham, its available, though i'm glad the ( manual ) pie update, did not break anything.
When I received my brandnew Mi A2 lite end of September it offered me straight away an update. Ever since I did not receive any further updates, neither security patches (currently on 5th Sept.) nor the PIE update. When I now try the OTA update it tellms me that the service is currently not available. My Mi is not rooted nor is the bootloader open. Its same as on the first day. Does anybody else face this issue?
Sucks to not get the OTA updates, but at least you could update (flash) your phone with the offical fastboot roms downloadable from Xiaomi.
https://en.miui.com/getrom.php?r=354&m=yes&app=false
Easy as pie to flash it via MiFlash tool, but I'm afraid you have to unlock your bootloader before.
I'm on October update and don't seem to get anything else either!
May I ask where are you both from? From experience with my old Motorola and my brother's Nokia for example, some regions like the U.K. get their updates always pretty late.
Edit: I'm using mobile Firefox, don't see any country flags if used.

The country you're in while checking isn't the "problem", it's the country where your SIM card is from. Maybe try to remove the SIM and/or try to reset location data like discribed here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/beta-upgrade-to-android-9-beta-pie-vpn-t3872694
With a German SIM this shouldn't be necessary at all, but maybe resetting of the location data alone might help.

Hmmm! Last thing to test would be a factory reset and a try to update an untouched environment preferably without SIM cards.
Don't use the Google restore option! If you do so, don't forget to backup important stuff to a SD card/cloud before.

That's what I thought to do too, but I have 3 more trips coming up till the end of the year, so let's see if there'll be any luck with the December update or with any of the other countries! Else, I'll probably have to do a factory reset! This is not what I was hoping for though, all I wanted was a phone that can have monthly security updates!

Yeah, root isn't working.
Yep. Lots of other people are reporting it as well. Hopefully the Magisk guys get it figured out pretty quick
No root here...
Hmm ... indeed ... lost root as well ... upgrade itself went fine ... followed process outlined in https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...thout-wiping-data-and-retaining-root.4356065/

I think I'll wait to try until Magisk is updated, and/or other users here report success.
I accidentally wiped a few days ago - I have a full root backup, but still a slight PITA. I don't feel like going back to unrooted too.

I certainly wonder what "12.0.0 (SQ1D.211205.016.A1, Dec 2021)" is. At least "12.0.0 (SQ1D.211205.016.A4, Dec 2021, EMEA carriers)" specifies what it's for.

I was wondering that myself. Give it a try and post your results. I doubt it'll fix the root problem, but who knows. The radio versions are different between the two. I'm guessing it has updates for the US carriers. I wish Google was a little clearer on which version is for which phone.

Root seems to be broken on December update / don't flash until it's solved
There is some talk in the P6 race to brick Telegram group, it seems that the december update is causing root to fail. So until this is fixed/solved, DO NOT UPDATE IF YOU WANT TO RETAIN ROOT.

The model doesn't matter, it's a region thing. EMEA is for UK, Ireland, France and Germany (and maybe other parts of Europe as EMEA stands for Europe, Middle East and Africa)

I suspect it's labelled UK, Ireland France and Germany because that is where it is sold officially. You should probably be using EMEA but it might not make much difference.
