Is there a solution again samsung/Carriers Block? - Note 7 Questions & Answers

I have been reading that Carriers are bloquing note 7 in New Zeland.
Is there any way around this? I have been reading something about the matter and it seems the carrier blocks when the see in the imei and id that your phone sends in every call.
This being the case, could it be the solution charging imei and id in the phone so every time you make a call the carrier thinks is another phone completely?
Does anyone know anything about this?
My phone is working perfectly and under no circunstances i want to return it
Thanks in advance

u can try imei changer apps which are available at free in google play store. it will change imei number only. i myself have same plan in case i face blacklisting.
..........
Edit: I sincerely apologize for above suggestion (changing imei) & withdraw it.

Good morning. You dont have such apps on google play. Changing Imei its a crime punished by law.
Thank you

Yes, as is piracy and illegal download of contents and most people do it.
In this case i understand this is because illegal use of phones for criminal purposes, which we can agree is not the case here.
I been looking and there seems many programs that do this. Good news for the ones planing on keeping this amazing machine.

Everyone needs to move on from note 7: it is dead. Blocking is occurring and just a matter of short time before all phones are rendered useless.

I just woke up to an update that limits my charge to 60% I have the Sprint variant. I'm pissed. Real pissed.

Word of advice. Discussing IMEI spoofing and changing is against XDA's TOS (as are the other things above BTW). Posting about it will get you warned or banned depending on the mod.

Do your research. I have made it crystal clear I dislike the nanny state and that I would fight for your freedom to own this mobile.
I find it odd that just a handful of posters here still shout from the roof tops about their freedoms yet try so hard to stifle freedom of posting on this forum? Double standards to write the least!
I owned two of the Note 7's, best mobile I have ever owned. Was difficult to return them. I miss the mobile very much as there is zero to replace it. I fully understand why owners desire to keep this mobile, one would be crazy not to want to own a Note 7.
Where I part ways with a tiny % of posters if where they start to debate how best to smuggle a note 7 on board an aircraft. That is not funny, not to be laughed at. THAT is when an owner starts to deny the freedoms and safety of others and that is an act of selfishness also breaking the law (the law part doesn't bother me either, its the act of selfishness that's bugs me).
To repeat. One should not be told what to keep, its a persons legally purchased phone. What an owner has to do in their quest for freedom is respect other peoples freedoms. I have zero problem with some one owning a Note 7, why would I?

There are several threads that are against the XDA regulations. That is bad enough but what is worse is that XDA has, to date, enjoyed a very good reputation in the world of forum posting. At present XDA is doing itself zero favours by allowing threads that encourage the exchange of information that is illegal. Not our problem though.

That's what I was thinking, but still.....(And thats all I'm going to say on that...)
On a lighter topic, how will airlines know what phone you bring on? I'm sure dozens have been in the air since the ban. I'm sure right this very minute there are dozens flying the friendly skies. You place it in an xray machine. Unless the agent recognizes the x-ray view of this phone or they have somehow programmed an algorithm to flag potential Note 7's from the x-rays then they will not know. I'm going to buy an iPhone case (just in case) to shove my phone into and place an apple sticker on it..just to be sure.... :silly:

rooting a phone that was found, no it wasnt stolen

how exactly is that not stealing if its been sitting in your office for months? and what are you talking about Sprint?
Galaxy Nexus isn't on Sprint yet.
I work at a bar we have phones from a year ago they are lost and not reclaimed, hence not stolen eventually we just toss them unless you have some pertinent feedback how bout not wasting my time

Here's some pertinent feedback for you: regardless of your standard practice or how long the property has been there, once you take it, it is stolen, you have committed a crime, and depending on your state laws and the value of the phone, that crime could be a felony.
There are legal requirements for handling abandoned property. Just doing what you want with it is not one them. You may find that all you have to do is run an ad in a local paper and that if no one answers, you can claim the property.
GR
lol relax detectives...no need to accuse of felonies. but just go to the carrier who sells the phone and ask your questions. say you found it and would like to use it as just something to mess with if your not activating it. and if they have to take it. so be it.

That sounds reasonable. If nothing else they should be able to tell you the proper procedure for being able to claim the property as yours, if there is one.

Unlocking Smartphones Illegal

Unlocking smartphones: Illegal
That’s right — unlocking your smartphone so you can take it to another wireless carrier will soon be illegal, unless authorized by your carrier. This, despite the fact that the Register has allowed unlocking since 2006.
There are some exceptions to this rule — but they aren’t worth cheering for. Specifically, you may unlock any phone you own now, or buy between now and “ninety days after the effective date of this exemption.” As of January 2013, however, unlocking your device without permission is decidedly against the law.

Yeah there's absolutely no way they can reinforce this law. Unless they're going to declare a Nexus device illegal because it is "unlocked" -_-
The government needs to back off with what they're trying to do with all these tech laws. Obviously making laws to restrict cell phones is more important than fixing the government's budget, debt, foreign and national policies, education

You care enough to make a reply to this thread? So it's obviously a big deal for you. Nothing will happen, but it's just funny to see what the law is trying to do.
I'd like to see them enforce this law. What they gonna do? Throw us in jail if we unlock the thing?
Well I remember when rooting and jailbreaking were declared legal in like 2006, whoopdy doo, you mean we can do whatever we want with our devices? Same situation now in that, legal or no, people will continue doing it.
Similar example: hackintoshing. It's illegal in that Apple can sue you for it, but they don't care about small people doing it, suing middle class or even lower class citizens for pennies on the dollar in a joke of a claim will only waste their money on legal fees and set a bad rep for picking on customers (hackintoshers often buy Magic Mice, Track pads, OSX itself and other Apple hardware/software for their setups).

Interesting that it says you can't even rip a CD if you are going to play it on a device without an optical drive. So will iTunes stop letting you rip CD' s to your iTunes account. Or will they let you rip it but block you from putting those songs onto your iPod, (or any other mp3 player).
If they do let me, and I ever got arrested, I'd try to get the DA to charge Apple as an accessory to the crime for not blocking me from doing it lol.

Carrier unlocked and bootloader unlocked are two different things.
Even though I don't unlock my phone ever, this is silly. Aren't there more important things they should be concerning themselves with?

People need to start being more proactive about voting some of these politicians out of office. Enough with sopa, pipa, etc.
In Germany there are no laws concerning that issue. However I assume that nobody cares, locked phones are (at least in Germany) usually sold with 2 year contracts - you can't get out of them (without paying a fine), so the carrier should give a sh*t on whether you use the services you pay for, or you pay twice to use other services.

what to do if your note 7 catches fire?

I'm going to keep mine until I see what happens. No other phones interest me right now. Since I'm keeping it for a while I figured I should ask what exactly do you do if it "explodes"? Who do you call? I don't have another phone so I don't think I'd be able to take pictures of it unless I went and borrowed a buddies phone. I want to make sure I document it if it were to happen.

Nothing else compares man... This v20 isn't even waterproof and pixel looks lame and no expandable storage.. Note 7 has it all.
I'm keeping mine too. The only way the Note 7 could be made better is a removable battery and remove the Knox tripping thing (Make it so it can be restored to 0x0 or get rid of it completely).
Hopefully they fix the issue once and for all and ship out units to those who want them like us...
I don't think a note ever exploded yet. They tend to get very hot instead, can deform and burn.
If you decide to keep it after the recall know that there is no number to call and especially not Samsung's. In case something goes wrong you are indeed solo, don't count on your insurance to pitch in unless you have some special clauses in your contract that accept risks from recalled phones.
Sent from my SM-N930W8 using Tapatalk
No one is deciding to keep it. The note is now really done. Don't be foolish, you'll get no liability, no updates, no security fixes, no access to some cell networks. Its just ridiculous to make any stand now and keep the phone. We will see what next August brings.

Well the customer rep I spent 2 hours with told me the total opposite. He said they will absolutely not charge me for the phone if I don't send it back. They are already refunding me the $180 I spent to get it. He said the word around corporate is to not send the phones back... Verizon doesn't want them. I think they just have to put that on their site to cover their asses.

At this point it's more a study in human psychology than a device forum. You have venting posts from those that are pissed about what they endured, genuine hardship stories from those that bought third party that are orphans, and those in denial rationalizing away the incident and bolstering each others reasoning for keeping the phone. You normally have to pay for theatre this good.
I have a replaced note 7, I will wait the s8 launch, here my carrier will honor the 1 year warranty period, and, for that period, the exchange as well, so, in the meantime, I will enjoy my note 7, and, if I decide within the warranty period, will get a full refund, it is win-win situation!

No one, at least no authorized dealer, is going to repair a Note7 under warranty or for cash. If something happens to it and if whatever that something is falls under warranty you'll be give the option of exchanging the phone for something else. To repair a recalled phone and put it back in the owner's hands is irresponsible and leaves whoever did it liable should the phone have an incident.

Don't forget, you also have the morally superior and socially responsible people who know far better than anyone else, who are happily and vigorously spewing toxic file hate towards anyone who's still using the phone and even remotely contemplates the idea of keeping it, or even keeping it for a short period of time until they can figure out what phone to replace it with.

It may even be illegal to do that in Canada. Possibly illegal in the USA too.
I know in Canada, you can't give or sell a recalled product to anyone (unless they are involved in the recall and you are giving it to them to give your device back under that recall). I kind of wonder if a business would be liable under the consumer protection and safety act if they repaired a recalled product and gave it back. I assume they would, because they knowingly gave someone (a customer, no less), a recalled and "dangerous" product.

Yeah seems like many are scoffing at people still using the device until they can replace it which is amusing ....and I can do even better than that .I returned and got a refund for my first one, then quickly realized i made a mistake getting rid of it so got another one lol.
Simple fact is there is not currently anything on the market which can replace it at least for me.
And anyone who has a problem with that, tell someone who cares what you think because I dont
Illegal or not they can still be bought and be repaired.... if parts are available which admittedly would likely be an issue.

You must be morally bankrupt! Where is your sense of social responsibility and justice?
Think of the children!
If it only saves one life, it's worth it!
Who even NEEDS a phone like the Note 7 anyways? I mean, really, phones like that have no place in a civilized society.
Hey! Waiting for Samsung to ship me the "explosion proof box" to ship my phone back to Samsung.

I just arranged an appointment to have my Note 7 returned on 3 November.
I am still sticking around because I am waiting for a report from Samsung, explaining what caused the batteries to combust.
Hey! And I'm with the other guy, this is better then any movie out right now. There is great drama on this forum. We have elation, sorrow, revenge, love, hate, and everything between.
I hate you all. I love you. It's outrageous. It's fantastic.

my phone went back and I've moved on, but still watch this just to see when the problem is actually stated and to see if the people sticking with the phone blow up.

New Software Update in UK on 31st October Limiting Charge to 60%

Samsung UK have advised that they will be pushing out an update on 31st October limiting charge to 60%. Lets see if Package Disabler Pro works !
http://www.samsung.com/uk/note7exchange/
They will have to make the phone increasingly annoying in order for people to discontinue using it.
60% doesn't guarantee the phone won't blow.

This isn't about that. It's really about getting folks to return these phones.

Anyone that continues to keep a Note 7 and continues to use it actively has issues, and I don't mean the phone's potential to destroy itself and cause injury to persons or property.
I'm still using mine. and aslong as you don't go on wi-fi they cant automatically push an update as it requires you to use mobile data? if that causes a billing charge, samsung can get into trouble

This latest 60% news is just the latest in a series of ham fisted balls ups. Why is this being done in the UK, and not in other markets? If they actually wanted to put together a program to try to get people to NEVER buy from Samsung ever again, I don't think they could have done better than this.

Couldn't agree more with your post. The killer for me was at the start of the first recall when I got a call from Samsung telling me to return my phone to the service provider. The caller was insistent that's what I had to do even though I explained concisely that it was bought from Samsung! It went rapidly downhill from there on. Communication atrocious.
With regard to the 60%, if it's so crucial to prevent the bombs going off why wait a week to push it out?
I sympathise with Samsung for the problem but the handling of it would pour shame on a one man outfit.

What might those issues be? As a Chartered Engineer I'd be interested to know.
I've been a member of this forum from day one (my profile doesn't show that because I re-registeted a few years ago).
The forum was set up so that like minded 'PDA' owners could learn about and improve their devices. It wasn't and isn't a place where self opinionated members could dictate what others should or could do or indeed to insult or pass judgement on other members.
It would be good if posts could continue to provide information, constructive advice and development for our devices.

I think people can just root the phone, use xposed and then install imei changer pro to change the phone into another phone id. In this way I don't think the network service provider can manage to block your imei. For those people who really take care of their phone well, I think any phone can last till they change to a new phone.

yes , in the beginning i might believe you , now it reach a stage that samsung is the one working with airlines to ban their own note 7 on airplanes , a problem that is intermittent , samsung them self dont even know whats the issue is , even third party has step in to investigate to no avail , whats so difficult about changing to another model and wait for s8 or note 8 ?

I still thinking if I want to return the phone. I bought a spare S7 edge to standby for trips but its no issue for people who don't travel often. I also believe there are still many people keeping the phone at their own risk. If nothing happen, I think note7 can last till note8 is out.
Have any expert handphone repair people actually open note7 and test if any other battery from other phone in the market can fit and run note7 smoothly?

Yet another moronic post. Who's said anything about begging to the media. Everyone still using their phone knows the risks.

Understood and no offense (to you intended).
But I don't like being called "kid" and being told to "grow up" by someone who can't form a cogent argument.
