Hey everyone!
I received my Galaxy Nexus yesterday and have been working on a more ICS ‘optimised’ version for you all (It should work better on Gingerbread/Honeycomb too)!
There’s nothing massively exciting that’s been added but it should be a nice improvement over 1.8.0.6.
A list of updates can be found below!
What’s New in 1.8.1.0?
- Attempt at some ICS optimisations
- Added a check for phones with ICS (takes you to sound settings to enable Volume+ in Meida Effects)
- App starts differently (should be more reliable)
- App should be more ‘persistant’ (see above)
- EQ values completely changed
- Volume levels completely changed
- Higher volumes now available (up to +20)
- Louder volumes should now be attainable
- EQ Band frequencies now shown
- Removed title bar
- Fixed orientation issue
- 'What's New' option on the main page removed (click version number to access change log)
- Broken EQ settings (from the first Beta) now fixed
Known Bugs
- Virtual Room Effects and Bass Boost don’t currently work on ICS (investigating)
For more info and Download links - http://androidaudiohacks.com/?page_id=16
My app is available for free on my website or for 99p on the Android Market.
Enjoy!
anyone get this to work on IN CALL volume?
my speaker volume is perfect on the current market version of V+, but when driving, even on speakerphone it's so low i can't hear anything and i'm hoping maybe one of you can tell me if this will boost that volume.
just asking again, has anyone been able to boost in call volume with this.

Unfortunately you still can't boost the in-call volume (earpiece or speakerphone) with the AudioEffects API. This seems to be a limitation Google put in place.
You can change the Build.prop to increase the number of in-call volume steps but it doesn't necessarily increase the sound, more like allows you to 'fine-tune' the volume. Although, on ICS, it only seems to work once. The linux command to remove the line doesn't seem to work (although it could just be the ROM i'm currently using).

blah that sucks. it's fine pretty much everywhere for me except in the car on the highway because my car is so damn loud (crappy piece of junk). Guess it's time to buy a bluetooth headset or speakerphone.
thanks for the reply.

with this beta, if i enable speaker modifications under Advanced setting.
the volume level will not change no matter what number you set it on. i try 1-20, the volume will not change.
but if i disable it i could change the volume level.

Why the big warning about Stock ROMs on the Market Page? What functionality do you lose if you're running a stock ROM?
I have a problem with different roms on gio. Specially that are on stock based..
The problem is that I select a mp3 tone for the notification but when the notification rings it's sound is low, even I have made the volume of the notification full in the notification setting.
And If i apply the same tone on the Ringtone it rings high...
I am unable to settle this matter and I don't know what is the main problem????

Having the same problem here, with a friend's phone... :/
Try ES Task manager
Download it free from market
It has option to adjust volume, including system volume which is not available in the general option.
I have same problem before but it fixed with that app

How to get access to system volume?
It's a little better...
But with all volume's at max, the notification sound is considerabely lower than the ringtone, even when they are the same.
Must be a bug from samsung...

What sound of notification do you use ? It probably has low volume level rather than the ringtone itself

I have downloaded it but I can't see any changes made to the volume, for me its still the same. Volume was at 100% before installing it for ringetones and the others.
I guess its the speaker in the phone that can't provide higher sound.

Let me explain myself...
I hava put a folder with the name of "Notifications" on the microsd, so that i can use personalized tones.
When i define some of them as a ringtone, they just sound incredebly high.
If i put the same ones as a notification sound, i almost can't hear them...
I have all volumes at 100%. It surely is a bug from the rom...
I went on Enhaced Gio 2.3.6 Stock ROM. Same problem. Notification sounds are very low! It's a bug, I'm sure, but how can it be fixed, anyway

I have tried several roms and the sound quality is still low both for the notifications as well as ringetones I miss quite a lot of calls when I am outdoor. I read somewhere that modification of kernels can help to get higher sound volume, and I hope some developers can help us with that.
try changing the system volume with this app and see if the problem is solved https://play.google.com/store/apps/...NvbS5zbWFydGFuZHJvaWRhcHBzLmF1ZGlvd2lkZ2V0Il0.
Already tried... At max, stays the same.
if thats the same for every android version and not only GB then unfortunatly something might happened to your gio
all sounds in my gio is very low, is the speaker has broken? is there any suggest to fix it? sory for my english

Anyway to improve the loudness of the speakers without rooting? they sound good but they're not loud enough, especially coming from a MXP.
This is an easy one. You can increase the loudness of the phone by accessing the bluetooth options... In the bluetooth menu, you will have the option available to connect to other bluetooth devices. Choose a locally available bluetooth speaker and enable the BTA option...
Hence forth your phone should sound much louder. This is a secret hack, don't tell anyone...

No, without root and without using a mod there is no way, you could use a different player and see if you can tweak the audio but actual volume will still be capped.

Viper4Android will make the speakers louder. Unfortunately, I have not found a way of this mod not messing with the sound settings on the HTC 10. On mine, after installing V4A, boomsound is not working properly as well switching between theater and music mode

There's a few to be honest, any active or manual equaliser can get more out of the speakers as they are but may mess with boom sound which is already in place.
In regards to tweaking the actual max volume I believe it can be edited but results can vary and it can become unstable or even break audio altogether so I'd personally avoid that.
In regards to mods, the best one I ever used was one called acid which was just crazy, I had it on my s3 which became extremely loud without distortion, but I'm yet to see it on any other device, viper is another, team venom might have it on their rom.

The ringer volume is pretty bad. Only sound by the lower speaker, and very low. If somebody can help with this, very appreciate
is the ringer lower than on the m9?

I finally got Viper4Android to work with the help of other members. Audio is not broken and fully functional. It does increase volume of speakers nicely. In the link down below, download the 2 zip files, ignore the apk file. In TWRP flash V4A Convolver zip first, then the HTC-fix zip, then reboot.

its the ringer sound that needs the boost.. or not just to sound out of the bottom speaker only.

I guess that if the upper speaker can be enable, the volume ringer can be more higher, the lower speaker is used only for bass and lower frequencies and for this some change in this speaker will not enough by itself for to improve ringer volume sound and quality
The V4A doesn´t fix the problem, if somebody know how to change this, welcome

Hi,
I'm really mad at volume levels and I want to have more. How do I do this? I'm rooted, busybox is installed, TWRP and it's all on stock 7.0. I'm not interested in any apps that I have to launch to change volume, I just want to add more volume levels. Can you help me?

Basically, on the Moto X Pure if you deleted System/Vendor/Etc folder it would remove all of Motorola's dumb ascending audio crap. This made all system audio, notifications, and ringtones play at a fantastic loud volume as they should. However, doing this same trick on the Z Play does not solve it like it did on the Pure.
Does anyone know how to correct this? Being able to actually hear the lock/unlock sounds, touch sounds, would be great... o.o
Thanks,
