I have a problem with different roms on gio. Specially that are on stock based..
The problem is that I select a mp3 tone for the notification but when the notification rings it's sound is low, even I have made the volume of the notification full in the notification setting.
And If i apply the same tone on the Ringtone it rings high...
I am unable to settle this matter and I don't know what is the main problem????

Having the same problem here, with a friend's phone... :/
Try ES Task manager
Download it free from market
It has option to adjust volume, including system volume which is not available in the general option.
I have same problem before but it fixed with that app

How to get access to system volume?
It's a little better...
But with all volume's at max, the notification sound is considerabely lower than the ringtone, even when they are the same.
Must be a bug from samsung...

What sound of notification do you use ? It probably has low volume level rather than the ringtone itself

I have downloaded it but I can't see any changes made to the volume, for me its still the same. Volume was at 100% before installing it for ringetones and the others.
I guess its the speaker in the phone that can't provide higher sound.

Let me explain myself...
I hava put a folder with the name of "Notifications" on the microsd, so that i can use personalized tones.
When i define some of them as a ringtone, they just sound incredebly high.
If i put the same ones as a notification sound, i almost can't hear them...
I have all volumes at 100%. It surely is a bug from the rom...
I went on Enhaced Gio 2.3.6 Stock ROM. Same problem. Notification sounds are very low! It's a bug, I'm sure, but how can it be fixed, anyway

I have tried several roms and the sound quality is still low both for the notifications as well as ringetones I miss quite a lot of calls when I am outdoor. I read somewhere that modification of kernels can help to get higher sound volume, and I hope some developers can help us with that.
try changing the system volume with this app and see if the problem is solved https://play.google.com/store/apps/...NvbS5zbWFydGFuZHJvaWRhcHBzLmF1ZGlvd2lkZ2V0Il0.
Already tried... At max, stays the same.
if thats the same for every android version and not only GB then unfortunatly something might happened to your gio

Obviously, check to make sure the ring volume is turned up, as suggested above. But some have complained the ring volume for our phone is a bit on the low side. Some ring tones sound louder than others. If you have a particular ringtone you like, you can try editing the MP3 to make it louder. Particularly if the ringtone is from a 3rd party source, and not as loud as the stock ones. There are free desktop computer apps to do so, just Google around.
Audacity is one such free program that lets you amplify the file, among many other things (fade in/out, etc)
but all the ringtone sound similar, and the volume is set to the largest

I HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM...IF YOU'RE USING CUSTOM ROM SUCH AS MEXDROID V4.1.1, SENSELESS ROMEO 1.0.1 OR ANY GINGERBREAD ROM WITH EXCEPTION OF VIRTUOUS/FUSION'S ROMS, GRAB DSP MANAGER FROM HERE FLASH IT LIKE YOU FLASH A ROM...I TESTED IT WITH SIULMAGIC'S SENSE AND SENSELESS ROMS, I THINK ITS PRE-INSTALLED IN CYANOGENMOD7 ROMS..AFTER DONE FLASHING IT, REBOOT, OPEN DSP MANAGER, SELECT "PHONE SPEAKER" AND CHECK "ENABLE EQUALIZER" AND I USED PRESET SUCH AS TREBBLE BOOST WHICH MAKES SOUND LOUDER...DIDN'T PLAY ARROUND IT MORE THAN THAT :d

Alright...than surely you would like to try volume boost+ better than DSP Manager, it also supports increasing volume db or something like that Both Dsp Manager and Volume Boost+ works better in mexdroid v3xx or higher...and i am using these right now on Senseless Romeo v1.0.1 by Siulmagic...working great...my volume gets louder by 30% without distortion

If the mp3 has low volume to begin with, DSP manager isn't going to do much. Use Audacity (it's free) on your computer to edit the mp3. You can amplify the waveform, resave as mp3 and put it back on your phone/sdcard.

I absolutely love my GN but my only issue is that the volume of notification and GOS is so low . Any ideas? Im running 4.0.1
Get Volume+ from the market (paid)
Sent from my ADR6300
The issue is the file itself has its volume set really low, if you have a sound editing program you can change that. I have a custom set of ringtones/notifications/alarms I use on my phones and they play fine.
It was just the stock sounds on ics are really low

Thats the one. You do NEED the paid version, the freebie doesn't do the job. This app has been confirmed by many (including myself) to work...fixed the only complain I had with this phone
Read the description for the paid version. The dev is also hosting the full version for free on his website. www.androidaudiohacks.com

my suggest is to set your own ring tone. i found my own ring tones from torrent sites and installed them on my phone through Airdroid. They are significantly louder than the system ring tones. i only wished i did this earlier with my Nexus S, but the stock ring tones are too weak too.
Anyone facing that? Even setting volumes to max it just sound too lower.
Is there a fix for it?
Thanks

Well... even not being a nood i wish that was the problem.
Believe me i've tried the Volume + ..lol
Looks more like a it is set to not me "loud".
Any hint?
So, does Volume+ work and it's still not loud enough for you? I'm not really getting the last sentence.
The Nexus is not the loudest phone. You only have two options:
Use Volume+ or some other app like that to boost the max volume.
Or you can use a custom ROM with a higher max volume setting. CM9 is pretty loud (I have it on 1/3 and it's loud enough for me).
You can try to modify the tone itself on the pc to make the sound louder. I did that before. Not really a technical guy but it had something to do with the decibel readings. After that the tone played loud when I transferred to my phone

Ringtones
Open source software called audacity is pretty great for moding sound files and can help with the volume level. Mod on the computer and place them on the Nexus...
I made my own ringtone. Its loud enough to wake the dead, without distortion. No need for Volume+.
As kafitze mentioned, use Audacity. It may not help current ringtones if they are low quality already. I made mine from a flac file.
Thank you guys... will try all these solutions.
Cheers

My VolumeSwipe lets you adjust the volume by swiping along the edge of the screen in the small number of apps that it supports. It has a boost mode which lets you increase the volume beyond the OS settings. So one option, though not a very convenient one, is to install VolumeSwipe and turn on its boost mode. Then in Netflix, just swipe up to increase volume to 120% (say). When you're done watching the movie, swipe back down to a normal volume level before exiting Netflix.
I haven't tried VolumeSwipe on the E4GT as I designed it exclusively for the Kindle Fire (which needs something like it since it doesn't have volume keys), so the screen layout may look bad on a smaller screen, but it's worth trying.
If you find that VolumeSwipe gives you the kind of volume setting you like, you can post back in this thread and ask me nicely to add an option to remember the volume levels in the supported apps and to restore outside of them. This way, each time you start up Netflix (or one of the other supported apps--there aren't many) you'll get the same volume level, and when you leave Netflix, you'll get a default level.
Alternately, per-app volume-boost would be a nice feature to add to my per-app settings app.
Thank you!! Boosts enough in Netflix. If you can add option of remembering volume levels I am asking nicely! Really.
Thanks for all your effort,
Doc
actually that would be very nice and a nice feature im sure every1 could enjoy....also if you could the volume maxes out at 140 im not sure if im getting the same results as the guy above me lol but im getting miminal boost im thinking 175% would be perfect.

I worry that it might damage the speakers.
I decided to do this not with VolumeSwipe (which I recommend uninstalling), but instead with my in-development PerApp app, which lets you set different per-application settings.
PerApp 0.01 lets you control Volume Boost and Orientation Lock.
To set Netflix to a louder volume, run PerApp. Select Netflix. Choose "Boost". Set a volume level like "6" (=140% in VolumeSwipe). Back out of the setting. Then check off "Active".
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. You can download from here. Source code is in the repository.
1 possible solution
My OS: Win 7
My default browser: Firefox
My solution:
Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound >
Under "Sound" (do not click the actual Sound link) click > Adjust system volume
If you see your browser present, increase the sound for it.
Hi Folks,
I need your support. I´m using the Viper Rom 3.2.4 and I would like to change the volume for incoming calls.
The lowest volume is still to loud, people around me can hear what the caller say.
Do I have a chance to change it maybe in the Build Prop. ?
Cheers

Little Update!
After changing the settings in the File, I have problems with the sound.
Can someone provide me the standard settings from the Build Prop. File?
Thx
I don't know if your issue is related to your ROM, but having too high lowest volume sometimes happened to me on the stock ROM after reboots. I (accidentally) found out raising the volume a few steps, then taking it back down will make it go to the actual lowest volume.
