Hey guys,
I made a video review of the wood skin for our HTC One. Furthermore it shows you an alternate way of applying the skin.
This skin shown in the first video is from dbrand.com and the one in the second from smartskins:
Please let me know what you think about it!
Cheers
The skin looks really nice on the black phone. Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for the review, man.
A little piece of advice: only make your videos as long they actually need to be. Half an hour is too long for a phone skin. This is just inefficient. What kind of german are you? ) and stop looking so scared for your life in these videos. You're among friends here. Try to keep that in mind.

How on earth did you manage to talk about a skin for 27 minutes?! i watched about 3 minutes give or take. Looks nice though, I just ordered the wood skin from Dbrand with black leather tops and bottoms. OP how long did it take for delivery?
Thanks for your feedback. I have been shocked about the length after finishing editing, too. I'm sorry...
What do you mean with "looking scared"?
I'm from Bavaria, nearby Nuremberg. @anfozy: It took about one week to arrive at my home in Germany.

I mean you seem shy and serious and " stumble " when you speak. Like you're talking to your crush in 5th grade.
Just try imagining you're discussing with your best friend or even have him stand behind the camera when you film and talk as if you're explaining it to him. These sort of things should ideally seem like you're talking to an old friend, not a live theater audience.
Hope this makes sense, mate.

Dude, I'm sorry. Don't wanna be disrespectfull but this vid is really bad, you'd better be with a written review + some photos.
26 mins, for a skin? Really? Think about it this way, take a look at it yourself, the full vid, not skipping it and after you've watched it, ask yourself this:
Did I just wasted 26 mins of my life? Yeah, I kinda did!
Here you go, I'd say this guy is pretty good, altough sometimes he speaks continuously without any break.
very nice skin

Yea, you're a bit harsh but you have a point.
I guess a few bullet points would be:
1. Speak naturally and confident.
2. Be factual and argumentativ (this product does this and has this, but it doesn't do this, it comes in this color, it costs this much, etc) and you can add your personal opinion (it feels cheap, it feels premium, overall it is/isn't enjoyable, etc).
3. Make it a maximum of 5 minutes long (even 8-10 if you have a lot to cover and show real world "test drives").
4. Try to cover things that are/could be useful/popular and that are not covered too well by others (so ar not to compete with too many online videos). (In this regard i think you did well here, tbh. )
Good luck and have fun.

@rusteh: It's absolutely okay, I prefer saying things direct. Now I'm sure that it makes absolutely no sense to have this video lasting for 27 mins.
@AdrianE46: Thank you for this great list of improvements, I will really try to implement that in my upcoming video(s).
@all: In the next days/weeks I will get some skins from "smartskins" (HTC One and MacBook Pro). I will try use your feedback and clues as much as I can. Thank you again for your honest opinions. I will keep you updated (if you still have nerves for watching a second SHORTER video made by me ).
Hi,
I made a second skin video. This time the skins are from smartskins and I tried to use some of your advises (e.g. this video has only half the length of the first).
Please let me know again, what you think of this new try
Cheers!
I ordered one a few days ago. But since I ordered it I started reading about all the issues it has.
Is it really THAT bad? Now I'm thinking of selling it as soon as it arrives and getting an HTC One A9 =/
I really thought nexus phone were supposed to be the best of android.

No, it is a great phone, period. And a fantastic phone given the (U.S.) price.
The folks with problems will always be more vocal than the folks who don't have problems. But, for example, check out the heavy upvoting on reddit when people post that they are not having problems. There is a large (but mostly silent) majority of folks who are simply enjoying their phone and have no reason to post to internet forums looking for advice.
Also, note that what appear to be the two most common issues (slowdown/lag after long periods of uptime, and battery issues) also crop up in the 6P forums. I don't know why some people have these issues and some (like me) don't, but I am not convinced that they are phone-specific even when they do occur.

I do not have an issue when opening the app. Also, the stock app was just updated in the play store and I think I have seen some reports of people commenting favorably on the update.
In the interests of full disclosure, I should say that I am not a heavy camera user (though I do take pictures). I use my 5X mostly for e-mail, texts, voice calls, playing/listening to music, web browsing, and navigation.

Never read about issues before you get the phone. I got one a couple days ago and it is just as good as my Nexus 5. No screen issues as all. The device is physically perfect. However, if you go read about all of the stuff people have issues with you start dissecting your device and finding problems you normally wouldn't have noticed or that aren't real problems anyway. I bet if you went to the HTC A9 forum you'd find all sorts of threads with people reporting issues. People tend to report negative issues vs reporting on the positive.
Every new phone has issues. Only people who have something to complain about are going to be vocal. There are many, many happy users out there who haven't made a peep about their phones at all.
I've had my N5x for over a week now and am very happy with it. No issues, except for the very tight and stiff headphone jack.
Thanks for the replies guys
Same here, zero issues have been noticed by myself.

I found the camera lag seems to be related to AUTO HDR+. Camera seldom lags now after I just leave HDR+ off or on, instead of using auto.

No issues opening the camera here. It opens faster than the Nexus 5 camera.
Most of the issues people have are related to one of the apps or services they installed. Being a new version of Android with new features that need to be coded in (permission sets and doze) means there are lots of apps that can have incompatibility issues at this time.
Folks tend not look to their apps and services for their issues even though they're the cause of 99% of them. Instead they instantly blame the hardware for software problems.
If it makes you feel any better, I've had my 5x for 3 weeks and haven't encountered any problems. Only real disappointment for me is the speaker. But that's mainly bc I came from the M8. Nothing can really compare to boomsound. 3gb ram would be nice but its not like this phone is laggy with 2 gb or anything

I think you're right about that. I've just left it on and seems just slightly less laggy. Also, could be the updated app a week or so ago. It's not quite as smooth as I would like it but still good to know of that it can be improved.

had mine a few days now and it's not a bad phone. Battery life is worst than I was expecting and I have an issue with the hall effect sensor locking the screen when I use the magnet dock in my car (https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=196357)
No the issues aren't as bad as people make them out to be. I suspect if there was no Nexus 6P, people wouldn't be complaining about the 5X so much. The phone is a solid performer. I'm not sure why some are giving this device a hard time.

I have zero issues, except for the cheap back plastic picking up stains. What bad issues are you talking about?
And I agree that people who complain about lag have some app messing up their phone. I have always used System Panel Pro to diagnose stuff like that. Without it, I would have thought every phone I ever owned had problems. With it, I almost always see some app stuck in a process using up cpu and making things lag. Kill it, problem goes away.
Overall I'm pretty happy. Coming from a Nexus 5 the Nexus 5X is an improvement(although not HUGE). The only issue I could really think of is the less than impressive battery life.
So... My Nexus 5x arrived yesterday... There is a black spot in the camera I think I'm gonna have to trade it for a new one but have no idea of how international returns work xD

While nothing is set in stone about the HTC One M10 (except that there will be one this Spring/Summer), EvLeaks just dropped some information, including:
According to EvLeaks, this is what it looks like from the front. (Imgur link; Twitter in source 3.)
It's going by the name HTC Perfume, which is believed to be released as HTC One M10
It's running HTC Sense 8 and Android 6.0.1
5.1" QHD (1440p) AMOLED screen
Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage
23GB of internal storage available for use; microSD card slot available
12-Ultrapixel camera on the back with OIS (laser focus). Fingerprint reader on the front. No word on IR blaster. No Boomsound, no front-facing speakers
Won't be shown at Mobile World Congress next month. It'll have its own announcement
[Source] [source] [source]
M8 users, will you stay with HTC?
If theres no front facing stereo speakers, i hope to they should place speakers to top and bottom on device. Thats why i buy htc. Otherwise, i'll go on Sony.
I'm curious if the leaked details will pan out, but I'm not holding much hope. Might have to go nexus

Unlocked version allowed on all major carriers (Verizon/ATT/Tmobile/Sprint) and I'm sold... Preferably around $600 mark. So we don't have to wait crazy long times for software updates/security patches.
Carrier locked devices have gotten to me lately, especially with new rate of googles security patches. It's insane how long it's taking us to even get a marshmallow release date... let alone get marshmallow.
But simply talking about hardware itself, and leaving the software out of the equation, HTC has the best designs in my opinion.
Bought my M8 on contract so I can't do anything until December anyways.
But...
Definitely whatever phone I get will have dual front facing speakers. Speakers on the back or bottom just suck once you've lived with dual front facing speakers.
I've head a lot of headaches with my M8, mostly being the keyboard disappearing two to three times a day (messenger+, G+, Whatsapp, Chrome) which requires a reboot to fix. I've tried different keyboards, still happens.
Every time Android System Webview updates something goes wrong, sometimes I lose my keyboard, sometimes things stop opening, a few times it was WiFi. Uninstalling it and reinstalling it fixes the issue with an additional reboot.
Its not just me, the brother in law and my sister both have M8s as well, same issues, both have exchanged their phones multiple times.
Now HTC has done wonderful with the brother in law's M8 customer service and replaced his phone twice, once when it overheated and the screen warped, once when it bent. They didn't fight with him, they just sent him new phones and he said he loves their customer service but finds the phone way too buggy for his tastes and wants to go back to Samsung when his contract is up. Same with the sister.
I loved HTC when I bought my first Android, an EVO. That thing worked like a dream and the 3rd day I owned it I was in a car accident and it flew out of my shirt pocked and stuck a half inch into the dashboard. Seriously, Amazing phone.
I WANT to stick with HTC, but unless they start fixing their buggy software I'm going to be heading out as well. Project Fi and a Nexus might be in my future.
I'm going to be really bummed by the lack of Boomsound speakers. Every time I show my friend's a video on my M8 they remark how great the sound is with the stereo front facing speakers. It was one of the major differences that set HTC above the rest, including Apple. I think the iPhone's mono bottom speaker is awful TBH.
I'll probably upgrade to the M10 though, even with this downgrade. I'm really looking forward to the fingerprint unlock. I wish HTC could solve the "wireless charging through metal body" issue though. I can't believe my DNA could do that in 2012 while the M10 can't in 2016.

Boomsound? Do you think they'll remain development friendly as well? I remember a time when Samsung was open and easy to work with, now I guess Knox prevents boot if you're rooted. At least on Verizon.

I had the m7 and really loved that phone, I also had the m8 and wasn't quite so fussed on it. I skipped on the m9 and went for the Nexus 6. One of my favourite phones of all time, bar the HTC HD2!!! I am really thinking about coming back to HTC. The 10 looks awesome!
First post with "What we know" could maybe be updated with latest news and details about the HTC 10
What's the latest on water resistance? none, 50% chance, 80%, 90%?
Spend a lot of time near water, so this is a must (and no, not interested in bulky waterproof case). Currently on Galaxy S5, just got the S7, but the locked BL is a big turnoff. Hoping 10 will be a home run - with some IP6x rating and camera that can match or better the S7.
I'd like to see a "maybe, depending how it actually turns out" option. I cancelled our AT&T S7 Edge orders due to the locked bootloaders. If HTC keeps its openness, I may pick up another one.
But I can't say yes or no until I see how it actually shakes out.
New #powerof10 tweet says "Here comes the new boom. You’ll hear it. #powerof10" via HTC USA. Wonder if this pretty much puts the "no boomsound" thing to rest?

I was just playing with the camera in my office like in your video #3 an getting the same focus issues that you showed. I decided to check the lenses to see if they were smudged or dirty. There were TINY TINY smudges on the focus/flash lens. I wiped it clean and focus was perfect after that. I really hope this is something that can be fixed with updated software because if not, we're going to have to keep the lens on the focus laser pristine, which is going to be a pain. Anyway, I hope this helps you.
Did the verizon varient get the 1.30.709 patch? Mine is still on 1.19.605

I haven't noticed any issues with mine yet thankfully. Hopefully if I do, cleaning it will solve it. For me, cleaning it is second nature...I've always cleaned every camera phone I've owned before taking pics/video.
Haven't had this problem at all. On 1.19. Tried to recreate with different scenarios and could not.

ithink we have to wait for 1.5 as i have 1.3 and still face the same issue some times
I have the same problem too! HTC 10 unlocked, ATT, using HTC software number 1.53.617.5.
It's almost as if the focus is fixed at a short distance, and everything else is blurry. On a perfectly well-lit day outdoors, the landscape looks all blurry (like how my grandpa would see the world without his glasses!)
This is a terribly disappointing, and I've been on call with them for the last 3 days trying to get a replacement.
Finally the "escalation" department calls me, and here's the list of problems: 1) They do not have replacement units readily available, and it'll be a long wait to get one. What's more they'll still put a full holding charge on my credit card. They recommend option (2) below...
2) They tell me that it's quicker to return the faulty phone, refund the money, and order a new one from the store. Well the store is out of "Carbon Gray" which I currently have, but fine I'll be OK with the silver version too. There's an issue here, I had ordered the HTC10 with the $100 promo off (one of the first people to order right after launch) and of course the promo-code is no longer valid. So I'll have to spend $100 more to get a replacement which has a working camera!! And in the two weeks it takes to send in my faulty phone, place a new order and get it shipped, they expect me to have a spare phone around!
As one of the first loyal customers, send the damn replacement unit first, and I'll be happy to return the original right after I receive it. I shouldn't be expected to spend $100 more for a faulty phone that you sent in the first place!
I confirm this issue of all HTC 10, auto focus in video mode is disabled., have to touch the screen to focus.
I will send a report to my contact in HTC.
Bought my 10 in November of last year... Worked great for about 4 months... Started to notice small delays in the camera functions... Head a few times where the lens was dirty and after I cleaned it off, the camera seemed to work fine. Then in May of this year, we take the kids to meet April the giraffe and her new baby Taj, in New York. My camera stopped working all together while I was photographing the giraffes...
It still doesn't work, after a FR of the whole phone and trying tons of so called remedies...
Bought the u11 now... best not let me down...
The 10 is the first HTC I didn't own for at least 3 years...
Hello everyone,
I want to buy the G4, do you think it's a good buy in 2016/17?
Also, the most important thing is, do new G4 still have motherboard issues and/or bootloop issues?
Thanks in advance.
Answer to your first question: Hell no.
This is by far one of the worst phones that I've ever owned. The only other bad one was an HTC touch pro that I owned.
Everything from an update breaking the ability to do anything while on calls. You must go through various menus to trick the phone while in a call.
It slows down, and other things that I forget at the moment. Even up to my first time using SWAPPA when I tried to get rid of it and after two weeks, I get a claim that the usb port is broken and it now bootloops. F this phone and F swappa.

Long story short they pulled it out of the box shattered the screen mailed it back to me and told me they couldn't fix it because it was already damaged....having said that I now own a note 4 and couldn't be happier...but the truth is the g4 is a beast.....fast fast fast...awesome device...it's lg the company I don't care for....

Doesn't sound like you have owned any truly bad phones.... Never had to deal with 900 megabytes of internal memory and 250 mb of ram and link to sd won't give you the time of day...now that's the ruff life..ha ha

For me is a 3/5 star phone. I bought it for like 240€ (270$~). The battery is the most negative point, for the rest the phone is really good. A great camera, builded with great quality material and smooth even without Custom Rom, thats the reason why there are lots of stock rom based. I switched to CM just because I was bored about the stock and not for other reason. No lag, games runs well. Never had problem about motherboard (6xx serial btw).
Your choice now.
Maybe for the 2017 you can find something better for the price that the phone has got now, that will rise down more soon.
G4 H815 EUR owner here. This phone is a beast. Great camera(really, just shot no need to manual focus or anything), great performance(no lag at all) battery life is decent(as I'm a previous Galaxy S3 owner, S3 could barely do 1hr SOT while G4 does 4-6hrs). Only problem with G4 is screen for me. As it's IPS not AMOLED... It's been half a year since I switched to G4 and I still miss AMOLED from S3
