yep aosp roms are nice fast and battery friendly but camera framework from LG are missing. if the same framework and drivers were used beleive me no one would be on stock. at least me i wouldnt. they use a generic driver so thats why picstures arent same quality and some features are missing.

We need a recovery first, then we can wrap our heads around AOSP/CM Roms.

If these are things that you need then you'll have to be patient. Right now @autoprime @thecubed and @jcase (and probably others) are working on getting root for all devices. There is also only one variant known to have an unlocked bootloader (US T-Mobile, D851) and it has a working TWRP recovery, but no custom ROMs. An unlock or bypass will be required for the other variants before we can expect much more.
Here's a link to the progress by the members I listed above.

The phone released a week ago. It took much longer than a week for the G2.

well technically its been out nearly a month outside of the USA (and even longer if you count Korea), but even a month is not very long!
So guys still no sign of aosp... G3 stock UI is so heavily modified that it feel laggy and bloated

LG skin isn't that much different from stock Android. Its probably the best out of all the custom skins... Go spend some time with Touchwiz...
Also no lag for me but that's for another thread.
But I can't see there being any custom ROMs for some time.

Actually I believe that the temp recovery hack that was found (TWRP), means it should be possible, its not a matter of recovery, its more a matter of devs, shouldn't be long I believe, since hardware is similar to the G2 (except the screen resolution and camera laser), it won't be long until a device config is ready and then all us ROM builders can bring you guys great roms!

CloudyG3 or CM12.1??? whats better for the G3????

Hello, recently i started using Cyanogenmod 12.1 and i saw that lots of features that special to the LG devices like: smart screen, dual window, knock code and more not in cyanogenmod.
what do you think, should i change to CloudyG3 or stay on cyanogenmod?
Who has better performance? and in CloudyG3 has a built in updater/upgrader like cyanogen has?
please help i dont know what to choose....
CM 12.1 is probably as fast as Cloudy 2.5 but Cloudy stopped developing for the G3 so there won't be any updates in the future. If you want the stock features (knock-code, dual window, LG's far superior camera UI etc.) back you should switch to either Cloudy or another LG stock based ROM.
I actually considered doing that as well but CM 13 is already really stable and a lot faster and smoother than CM 12.1 was, so that probably won't happen anytime soon. Maybe when there is the first Marshmallow ROM of the LG UI available in the next months.

Sadly it's not possible to add the LG camera app to its full extend in an AOSP ROM. You only get the full camera experience when using stock or a stock based ROM. I don't actually know if there is an Xposed Module or something of the like for knock code, sorry. But it COULD be done.
actually if u use a cm based rom not the official cm u will find there are features to add the knock code. i use resurrection remix based of cm but u have extra stuff added to it.

Oh, I didn't even know about this, shame on me. But that sounds like the perfect compromise of stock and aosp.

I am running a CM 12 derivative (Bliss ROM for E970/GEEB) which uses Snapdragon Camera. Not sure it is the same as CM 12.1 but if you search for it one of the hits will be the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/themes-apps/snapdragon-camera-t3213605 which has detailed installation instructions. Reading around it seems that some have gotten it to work without copying lib files.
Another camera that works with my E970 on Bliss (Lollipop) is Open Camera (which is free) from the Play Store
Reading for comprehension
Rereading your OP I see you want the stock LG camera. According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2280974 it is not possible.
I wonder if you combine the Snapdragon camera install instructions with the LG stock files if you might be able to get it working.

You cannot use any camera mod on LineageOS 14.1 and on basically any AOSP based or CM based custom ROM.
You will need stock firmware for camera mods and I would recommend Cyberian Camera.

I use Manual Camera on the ROM that I am currently running(Exodus ROM) but it has half of its features disabled because I believe CM ROMs don't support so much manual controls yet and for some reason the stock Camera app on Exodus is hidden from the launcher so yeah.
If I was on stock I would just use the stock camera app.nothing else.

Rom with Duo Cam ?

With which ROM is the Duo Camera running? Is there an Android 7.1.2 or 8.x version?
Only sense based roms have properly working duo cam, so the highest android version you can get is 6.0

No, Duo camera it's working properly only on sense based roms.
Probably on some aosp roms Duo camera it's working somehow, but not like in sense.

The secondary camera module is not working at all on anything other than sense, so no bokeh and stuff.
ckpv5 has made a working camera app for any rom, but that still doesn't use secondary camera.
