Let me put on record, that my Note 7 has been awesome, not a single problem, unlike other posts I've seen here and around the net, my battery life has been AMAZING! Like 3 1/2 hour convo on the phone last night and only suffered a 10% battery drain amazing, I have yet to see this phone go below 49% after a full days use (work and using it at home to watch videos and surf the net.)
UI has snagged here and there but quickly fixes itself and the battery hasn't even remotely gotten warm during charging (Charge all night at home on Samsung Fast Charger Wireless Stand and the few times I've charge at work for a few minutes, its been on the original non fast Samsung charge disc) and it hasn't gotten even warm with a chunk of Gear VR play (Decided to lay low on the VR play since the recall though lol) so needless to say, I'm loving the Note 7, its sad to see anyone else have a different experience.
With that being said, I don't want to push it, as far as I'm reading it seems there doesn't exactly have to be a warning sign for the battery to just go up in flames, and I guess if I don't have to I'm not gonna chance it happening. And when Samsung said within a week or 2 the replacements would be available I was all about holding on to it in the meantime, but it seems that the replacements aren't gonna be ready in that time frame. And I'd prefer not to burn my house down lol.
So my question is to anyone who had to exchange their Note 7 at Best Buy, I know we have to deal directly with whoever we purchased the Note 7 from and I'm sure I'm not the only one who grabbed mine at Best Buy on launch day.
Did they do an exchange and are they offering a "Loaner" phone?
According to AT&T whom I just spoke with, they stated that Best Buy SHOULD exchange my device and give a Loaner Phone like an S7 Edge or something to use in the meantime, and if they don't then I need to call AT&T on the phone and have the Best Buy employee speak directly to the AT&T rep ... sounds simple right? Well anyone who has ever dealt with BB knows they are usually hard to deal with, and I've read posts stating that some BB stores were pretending like they didn't even have a recall notice and denying the customers Note 7.
So i figured before I waste my time and come within inches of wanting to choke out a blue shirt from pure frustration, I'd see if anyone here has had success in exchanging their Note 7 for a LOANER phone, that when once the new Note 7 batch arrives we can swap back out?
Thanks for any help!
Here is their Note 7 recall webpage (which will be handy when you bring the Note 7 into their brain dead staff who'll have no clue)
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/clp/galaxy-note7-information/pcmcat748302046994.c?id=pcmcat748302046994
Exchange current Galaxy Note7 device with a new Galaxy Note7 (when product becomes available).
Exchange current Galaxy Note7 for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge and replacement of any Note7-specific accessories with a refund of the price difference between devices.
Return your Note7 and receive a full refund.
3 options, but no loaners.....
I have two Note 7s purchased and i'm waiting for restock before doing battle with them.

Yeah, I read that prior to posting, But AT&T assured me they will offer me a loaner, but again anyone who's dealt with BB knows that they run rogue and do their own thing, and AT&T has always been disconnected from how BB runs. But I'm in the same boat as far as just keeping it, I love the phone and just want to get a new certified one and move on to enjoying it for what it is, I'd do a loaner and have a new phone to play with if the process was gonna be smooth, but it NEVER is with BB. lol you said it perfect ... "doing battle with them" every time I deal with them i leave the store mentally and physically drained, and yet they keep getting me back in because of the damn pre-order promotions they always have ...
Yeah same but I also like just going into some place and buy something instead of waiting around for delivery. The AT&T people may be trolling you tho..... Since BB does not say loaner it's hard to say cause they all run rogue of store policies. I would... Give the cell area a preemptive call and ask for the manager and ask him directly. Also as a primer to make sure they are aware that they are still involved in this process and not tell you deal with Samsung. I've been reading all I could about this soap opera and seen someone say that their BB did give them a loaner, again, going against the grain (and no way to confirm internet statements at times).
Our Notes are running fine, last all day long, and have no user installed battery drain or lag.
Keep us (me) posted.... I'll do the same when it comes time.

Agreed, I think a call ahead to BB is the first step. But even that is a 50/50 shot of BS lol.
But yeah, I am the same way, i don't like dealing with the mail if I don't have to. Packages get lost or kicked around or stolen or get held at a FedEx or UPS location over the weekend sometimes. So I just prefer to walk into a store and leave with the product in hand, and BB seems to really be the only place to do that outside dealing with the carrier stores, it just comes at a cost lol. But the same frustrations can be said for reps at the AT&T corporate stores. It's a no-win situation really.
But I've also read mixed reviews on BB about the whole recall process so far, some had no issues, some got no where, so I figured I'd ask for some advice ahead of time. Worst case scenario I'll just keep enjoying my Note 7 until the new stock comes in ... lol which isn't a bad option.
But again thanks for the help man, i appreciate it and I'll def post up how this venture plays out, maybe it'll help someone like me looking for answers.
At Best Buy there no loaner phone. The exchange to Edge or S7 is permanent and the full return might not be available anymore. What they want you to return will vary from store to store.
BestBuy is not giving a temp phone. They are either giving you a full refund, or you move to the S7 or S7 Edge or wait to get a new Note7 when that comes available.
honestly, I wonder if us in the US will wind up getting replacements, because if Samsung isolates the batteries to the Exnyos models, they most certainly wont recall the US market Snapdragon ones.

Right, the problem is, I'm not sure I can get the transaction completely reversed through best buy then walk into an AT&T and have them give me a loaner phone, since I reversed the upgrade at best buy.
Pretty sure you'll be stuck at your temp phone.

Exactly
I purchased my Note 7 from Best Buy on Aug. 19 via an AT&T Next trade-in of my Note 5. On Sep. 4, I returned the Note 7 to Best Buy under the recall. They coordinated with AT&T and then sent me over to a nearby AT&T store to get my interim phone (S7 Edge). I now have the option of either keeping the S7E or exchanging it for the N7 when the new ones are available.
(As for that choice: the S7E and the N7 are both great, though I like the N7 slightly better. So I'm planning to exchange--unless the N7's sound/vibration-feedback-lag problem still hasn't been fixed by then, in which case I'll keep the S7E instead.)

Best Buy is sending out emails that pretty much state their webpage... just to add to the thread and hope you guys receive too.
They mention "getting registered for a new Note7" so *sigh* i'm going to pay them a visit tomorrow and see if they even know they have this list.
Registered at lunch at my Best Buy in Whitehall PA. They are handling it similar to preorders. Has a registration process etc. You will basically get a preorder email once your registered and then it's first come first serve to those registered as they come in. They stated Staten Island, some NYC and New Jersey Best Buys got their replacement shipments today and that they are assuming we will get ours locally in a day or so.
Just passing on the info

So, stopped by my local Best Buy and spoke to the mobile manager who stated that all I needed to do was go to that BB Note7 page and enter my email address and that's it. Once they arrive I'll be notified and I can exchange. He said possibly next week but who knows for sure.

I returned my Note 7 to Best Buy, then went to an AT&T store to get an interim S7 Edge. Best Buy was on the phone with AT&T for an hour working out the details. Then it took another hour for the AT&T store manager to call headquarters to work out the remaining details. But it did happen, at least in this instance.
Went to Best Buy and told them I wanted to exchange. Took my order, gave me a pre order reservation form and also received an email confirming the order was placed like any other order. Said new shipments were imminent (I won't hold my breath) gave me back my phone and said to exchange when new phone arrives. We'll see how it goes. They did mention the Sept 30 date but the form doesn't. Believe me, I will request full refund if that date isn't met.
Not sure if this was the correct procedure BB is supposed to follow but as I said as 9/30 approaches I'll just ask for an immediate refund.

Pre-order a replacement? So if I don't swap to a loaner or don't go into a bestbuy I won't get a call for a replacement? I put my email on their website to be notified as few days ago also.
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to give some information out to everyone in regards to the Note 7. With the latest news involving the replacement Note 7s having battery issues, Samsung and all carriers have stopped the exchange of the Note 7. Depending on the carrier, they will either let you exchange your phone for another device(S7, iphone, etc.) or a full refund. Wherever you bought your Note 7 is where you will go to do the exchange or refund. If you bought it on the Verizon website, then go to a corporate store. If you have purchased your phone through a third party(ebay, swappa) Samsung will refund you for the Note 7. I literally just got off the phone with Samsung. I purchased my phone through Swappa and I asked the Samsung rep on how to get a refund since I purchased from a third party. The representative asked for my name, address, and IMEI number of the device. Then the representative asked what third party and directed me to someone else to initiate the refund. Once I got with the other person, he told me that they will be sending me a box with a prepaid label and told me to put the phone and all accessories in the box and mail it back out. He said once the company receives the phone, it will take 10 to 14 days to receive a check for the refund. He told me if you happen to have the receipt of the phone, put it in the box and they will refund you that amount. If you dont, they will give you the MSRP of the phone based off of what your carrier is selling it as. I told the guy that I didn't have the receipt obviously since I bought it from Swappa and the seller didn't have it and he told me that I would be getting the refund of $864 since that is the MSRP of the phone through Verizon. Just thought I would share my experience to everyone who may be in the same boat as me as I will never buy from a third party (Swappa) again.

I called the main number. 1-800-Samsung. I called on September 30th. They gave me a reference number. I had to call several times before I was transferred to the right department. They are supposed to get back to me in 5-7 business days. Apparently today is not 7 business days yet. I called this morning they said they would call me tomorrow.

I called samsung to. Same response 5 to 7 business days. I told them that is pathetic. I said you need to do whatever it takes to get these phones out of consumers hands....3rd party or not. If something does happen i will start a lawsuit. Bite the bullet and just issue refunds. They said they NOTED it lolol.

Just a helpful message to those dealing with Verizon. I successfully did an exchange for the iPhone 7 + today and they tried to charge me a $20 per line upgrade fee for each Note 7 I exchanged. Your situation may be different but I did not upgrade to the note 7 originally, I was a new customer purchasing the Note 7 but there is no way they should be charging anyone a fee in this situation. The guy on the phone just said it was all sales tax, it wasn't until I received email confirmation of my order that I noticed there was sales tax + upgrade fees.

What is Samsung going to do about the accessories that I purchased for my Note 7? Phone cases, USB-C cables and adapters, apps for the Gear VR that I purchased? I am waiting for some sort of statment form Samsung. I hope that address these issues. I am really gonna miss my Note 7!

When I said free upgrade I mean I don't have to pay off my contract and eligible for a update with no penaltys. Sorry if I was misleading. Still says if I get a new phone it will a cost every month. My point is we don't have to turn our phone in and we don't have to pay for it anymore. So in essence, it's free.
I just noticed I had "Upgrade Available" on my Note 7 and came here to ask about it. I wonder if this means I can skip Costco altogether? If so that would be awesome. I am on chat now trying to see what that means.
Yep. Because they no longer selling the note 7 series. They are canceling the contracts and giving your money back for the payments and upgrade back

Yep. Wife upgrade got reversed. Mine didn't as I wasn't in the payment plan before hand. Mine might be a little tricky to be reversed as I was just month to month before hand. They told me on Chat that I could take advantage of upgrade at a Verizon Corporate store even though I bought it at Costco. He did say there was a $20 upgrade fee but that is worth it to me to avoid Costco.
There was no mention of being able to keep the Note 7 though, he did seem a little confused that there was an upgrade available.
He just told me that Verizon may advise me to return Note 7 to Costco but I can still get upgrade at Verizon Store. I may try this afternoon. If anyone else tries please post results.
EDIT: Looks like you can do the upgrade online and preorder the Pixel. I haven't completed the process yet, not sure if that is what I want.
My dad said something about seeing a credit for $700 or something like that in our account today. I'm also wondering if I could get them to refund what I paid for the note 7 which was like $200(edge program) and keep the note 7 but order something else.
Even if they let you keep them I am certain they will blacklist all of the IMEI numbers on their network and it will become a wifi only device.

This may work. You don't have to send the phone back in. I'm trying to get the $180 I spent on it refunded to me and then I'll keep the note 7 but order a different phone... Maybe the v20 or something..
Think I will stick my old Core Prime on to the back of the Note7 and call it a day.... Call it my "modular solution".
Yep. Free note 7. He said don't send it back... And I'll be refunded the $180 I spent in a week or so.. I'm eligible for a free upgrade now...
So I have two notes waiting to be returned for the recall. We can keep these definitely?
If someone goes to the store and upgrades and they don't ask for the phone at that time, let me know please. Thx.
Anyone know if we could use the upgrade at Best Buy to get a phone with one of their promotions? Like the free Samsung TV or a $200 gift card?
I don't believe Verizon can bump these off the network legally. I have a plan in good standing. I will not adversely affect the network by using it. Big Red just passed the buck to Samsung is all. I have no repayment contract with Sammy either.
This is really the best case scenario for those that wanted to chance keeping the Note7.

Just spoke to my local Verizon. I was told that I can upgrade, but they will send me a box to return my note 7 at some point. I was hoping to keep it and upgrade. Lol.

So I have two notes waiting to be returned for the recall. We can keep these definitely?
If someone goes to the store and upgrades and they don't ask for the phone at that time, let me know please. Thx.

The Verizon guy I'm still talking to said I don't need to send the note 7 back and I'll be refunded the $180 I spent for it and I'm already eligible for another upgrade.

He also said I have no contract with Verizon anymore. Like my contract with the note 7 has been totally erased... No point in me returning it..
Has anyone talked to Verizon about returning the Note 7 but keeping the upgrade until a new phone comes out? Everything out now just doesn't suite my needs, and I don't want to buy an 8 month old S7 Edge that isn't going to replace my Note 5 or 7.
I chatted with Verizon, and was told that if I simply returned the device, whatever I activated on the line (even my old Note 5) would effectively x-out my upgrade even if it wasn't a brand new phone or an upgrade.
Now, one interesting thing is the upgrade is on my wife's line, but the phone is on my line... So question 2, would that work the same?
That's ridiculous. How would activating an old phone be using up the upgrade. I'm going to call myself in a few and see what they say because in my case. I no longer have my old phone so I'm buying one from someone this weekend to be able to activate it in place of this note 7. Dammit what a mess this entire thing has been.

I agree, it's BS when everything else fails to compare. If that is the case, I'll buy an iPhone 7 plus and ebay it.
Ok I just got off the phone with Verizon cs. The rep I spoke to was real nice and she knew her info.
I asked her if I activate my old. Phone will I still have my upgrade and she said YES.
She says I can upgrade at anytime.
I then asked since Verizon canceled the contracts what to keep me from staying with my phone and not returning it. She said EVENTUALLY THE COMPANY WILL HAVE AN AUDIT AND THEY WILL THEN SEE THAT THOSE PEOPLE WHO STILL HAVE THE NOTE 7 HAVEN'T RETURNED THEM AND WILL EVENTUALLY BE BILLED FOR THE PHONE VIA WHICHEVER WAY YOU HAD YOUR PHONE PAYMENT SETUPLIKE. For instance i was going to pay monthly on mine for 2 years and if I keep the phone eventually when the phone is caught in the audit they would Then proceed to charge me monthly again for the phone.
Oh and something interesting she mentioned is when I originally swapped my old. Note 7 for this newer supposed safer note 7 that they didn't have me sign a new agreement. So basically there's nothing tieing me with this phone to them. But once again all it would take is a audit. Which they will eventually have done and they would flag it. I'd have to sign or return phone and be charged etc. Hopefully this answers some of your guys questions. I know it answered all my questions by calling.
I'm going back to my old phone. Getting all my refunds and upgrade next year when a hopefully. Newer better note 8 will be out.

Yep, I went to a high volume brick and mortar here in Jacksonville and confirmed the same. I'm going back to my old Note 5 and will return this to a store for a refund. No stylus or 5.7" screen is a deal breaker for me at this point. I really want a microsd slot, but I'll just have to deal for now.
Sent my S7E back last Monday. No cracks or obvious damage, but the screen had a few abrasions and hairline scratches. Still got the full $480 credit though. Did you get as much as you expected?

How long did it take you to get your box for send back? I already filled out the form online and have yet to see anything come in so far.
I the form out last Tuesday got it Friday shipping it out this week. My friend took his directly into a Verizon store traded it there.

I received my return box before I received my Note 8. I preordered the phone in August, the day that VZW announced the $480 deal. I ended up having to work with a CSR to get the order completed, with the result of having the return box shipped almost immediately and the phone less than a week later. The Note 8 itself arrived the Tuesday immediately after Labor Day.
Yes. They received my S7 Edge back and sent me an exmail saying my trade in value was 20 x 24 payments. You must pay monthly for 2 years if you want the full 480.
In an effort to keep from getting scammed, I went into my local Verizon store and traded it there. It was actually suggested I do that by the rep that helped me when I pre-ordered the Note 8. I always get an Otterbox or other appropriate case when I get a new phone so I don't run into issues with the phone getting damaged because I have butter fingers. Heard too many horror stories of getting cheated out of the full trade in value when shipping it in.

Wow, your in-store experience is way different from mine. I always feel like I need to take a shower after I've visited a corporate store.
I'm much happier doing everything on-line ...
I have a Note 5 with a cracked camera lense. Can I get a high trade in value for It?

I don't think so. I sent my husband Mike's Note 5 back to Verizon in exchange for the Note 8 so I could send it to him since he's in the Military and overseas and Verizon told him 300 and his phone was in pristine condition since he put it in a waterproof dust proof case and it didn't even have fingerprints on it and they only gave 128 dollars! So I'm mad and arguing with them about it!

That's the current trade in value online $128. Did they state why they went so low?

They didn't state why but they told me 300 in a chat session so I sent them the copy of the chat and I'm still waiting for the response.

I've never experienced a change in value, but who knows what Verizon is doing right now.

My note 5 has a tiny crack in the top left corner of the back glass panel. Still get $480. I was confirm about a week after I shipped it back.
Verizon cares about 2 things for a full value trade.
1.) Does the phone power on?
2.) Is the screen cracked?
VZ does not even care if the bootloader is unlocked or the phone being rooted.
If someone got full trade for a device with a cracked screen, it must be really hard to see and you got lucky.
I got $240 for my Note 4. Turned on, no damage. Ran slow as hell but they didn't care. Did the pre-order and return at a Verizon store, easier than waiting for the box and I wanted to make sure that I got the credit they quoted. Took a full bill cycle to hit. Paying $1 a month less for my Note 8 than my wife pays on her S8 lol.

My mother traded her iPhone 7 in for the Note 8 in store. She got an email the same day saying the 20 dollars for 24 months was added to my account. It took about 3 weeks to get the same email from my S7 that I mailed back. If you're worried about using the mail in, a Corporate store checks it and you get the credit email right away. If you do this, ensure you are going to a VZW Corporate store. If you go to an authorized re-seller, you may have to wait even longer.
Did the mail in and got a message today that they did the full quote of 360 for a original moto z.
Just the opposite. I turned in my pristine Note 5 and they gave me $400 off at the Verizon store for a Note 8. Great Deal! Now I've got a 256GB MicroSD Card in it so I've got a Lambo for the price of a Volkswagen,!
