Got this morning the 4.4.3-update for my N7 2013 LTE; now it WON'T connect to Vodafone NL anymore...
More people have the same problem, that it won't connect to the provider anymore?
Can you try the previous radio and see if it is working?

I had exactly the same thing, and also with Vodafone NL. Although, I assume that's only a coincidence: when I try to search for other networks, I get a toast message with an error saying: "Error searching for networks".
Therefore, I took the radio image from the 4.4.2 factory image, flashed it to my N7, and then I got my mobile network connection back.

I flashed an older radio image, and that one's working. However, since I see only 1 other person who has reported this problem over the past few days, I am wondering whether we have a defect in our hardware that emerges when using the new radio. If it would be purely software, I would expect a lot more reports about this defect.

If everything works with the old radio, Im guessing its most likely software. Cant test LTE right now, so I cant give you guys more feedback. But the fact that you both use the same provider might also be a factor. I would recommend trying out someone else's SIM (different provider) on the new radio and see how that goes.

It seems, that our N7 have received the wrong baseband-version during the update!
Left is the update we've received in the NL, right is the update received in other countries!
Have a look at the baseband-version: the only difference is the "letter"! We should have received the "G", but we got the "H"!

Confirmed, I went several times between the 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 factory images and with a vodafone sim inserted on 4.4.3 it can even scan for networks anymore!
I have the same problem here and using Ziggo mobile. Smalband version DEB-H00_2.42.0_1204
Dont have a rooted Nexus or anything else, just standard. I'm pretty new with android so i really dont have a clue what to do.
Google support is not very helpfull just the basic thinks like deleting cache, restore.

live with it, until an update comes along, or unlock and flash the 4.4.2 factory image
I have the same issue. Nexus 7 2013 LTE, tested with both Vodafone NL and Ziggo Mobiel SIM-cards: same issue.
What is the easiest way to revert to previous Android version (4.4.2)? I'm also non-rooted. Dataloss is no issue, since I just wiped my device to see if there was a user setting messing it up...
---
To downgrade:
- I needed to unlock my bootloader ("fastboot oem unlock"). This voids the warranty, which I don't have in NL anyway.
- I downloaded the files on this page: http://www.androidbeat.com/2013/11/flash-factory-image-nexus-device/
- I followd the steps to run 'flash-all' (after unzipping everything). This wipes all userdate (which was already gone).

Ziggo appears to use the Vodafone network, so the bug could still be related to the interaction with Vodafone only.
Anyone on KPN or T-mobile? (I have the same problem and also am currently on Vodafone...)

I was thinking the same, but still it is a software bug. I noticed that I was also unable to 'downgrade' the network type to '3G' in the buggy firmware. I could only select 4G. Just tested in 4.4.2 and I can select the lower version there.
If it is a Vodafone-only issue, I am very affraid that this will never be resolved...

Somewhere else was reported that the same device works with a Lebara SIM but not with a Vodafone SIM. Lebara uses the KPN network in the Netherlands, so somehow the bug is related to the Vodafone setup in some way .
I am back at 4.4.2. Vodafone NL and android 4.4.3 are not a good combination .
I bought an unlocked version of the M7 (over a year ago) and I converted it into a Developer Edition. Now, the phone has been hard bricked and I need a new phone, and I think I will get the M8. I'd buy the Developer Edition if it were available in my region, but it's not.
My question is; does the M8 comes in different variants like Unlocked, US unlocked, International Unlocked, and Developer Edition? The main reason I converted the unlocked M7 to the Developer Edition was timely updates, and I'd like the same for my new M8. The one I'm buying online is Unlocked but they don't have further details. Now is it still possible to convert it into Developer Edition or US Unlocked or whatever gets the updates from HTC first? Could you point the guides to do so? Also how to find out about which unlocked model I'd have -CID or MID? I'd prefer to start going through them to convert the phone first thing after I receive it.
Thanks in advance!

You don't want US unlocked, but yes. You can convert any GSM M8 to GPE.
Actually the US variant is just as good as the rest.
My US at&t variant is fully converted to GPE and runs great ,even took the OTA with no problems. It's been mentioned in the convert to developer edition thread that they are identical

Anyways, the reason I said no to the US versions is CDMA.
The GSM versions just seem a little easier to work with, plus more support.

I don't want to convert to GPE. I want to convert to US Unlocked to receive the latest "Sense" updates from HTC, not "Stock" updates from Google/HTC. So can I still convert the GSM unlocked phone I'm getting into a Developer Edition and receive those updates received to the Developer Edition like I did with the M7?

Could you please refer to convert to the Developer Edition thread? What do you mean they are identical? I understand all of them would have the same software, but the main reason to convert to the Dev Ed is to receive "Sense" updates first from HTC -such as the coming Lollipop update.

He means the device model ID, radio's that it shares etc it's the same.
What's the problem though, you could have found a way to convert to the Dev Edition ages ago if you just did a bit of "Googling" or Searching on here.
Regardless of which version(International, branded, Unlocked, Dev Edition) as long as it's GSM you can convert it to the Developer edition.
1) Get S-OFF - Try firewater or Sunshine S-OFF
2) Change MID to that of Developer Edition
3) Change CID to Developer Edition - fastboot oem writecid BS_US002
4) Download and restore a nandroid backup for Developer edition
5) Flash a stock recovery for developer edition - from collection of backups thread linked in point 4
6) Do OTA updates
Convert AT&T HTC One M8 to Developer Edition? There is a guide written by Gary.
You can also change the MID/CID and do a RUU for the developer edition.

Only Sprint and Verizon are CDMA.
AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM. I believe the US unlocked (and Dev Ed) are both specifically intended for AT&T and T-Mobile, and its the GSM variant. So the same as any other GSM variant aside from software (which can be changed).
I have chosen the HTC One (M8) Developer Edition. Thanks everyone for the help!
I have an A5_UL and I want to downgrade to ROM version just one point before it went to Lollipop. First of all, I can't find my carrier nor country/region on HTC's RUU Site, can I just flash an European RUU with HTC as a carrier? I do live in Europe but my carrier certainly isn't HTC. Also, which version was the stock ROM before it upgraded to Lollipop. I know it started with android 4.4.2. but I'm sure there were some updates in between that I don't want to miss.
Note: I am S-OFF
Thanks upfront!

There were several 4.4.2 updates. for most devices, the last one before Lollipop(2.34) would be 1.58. RUU is usually not available for most variants. you can root your phone and restore a Nandroid backup of 1.58 but you'll need to find such backup specific to your device here. If you're S-OFF thenyou wqon't be limited to certain CIDs/regions but you should still watch for MIDs

So if I'm S-OFF, I can flash the RUU for any carrier and region as long as I flash the Desire 816 ones? Also, on the HTC's site there is no mention of any carrier or model ID's so even if I determine the one for my phone it still wouldn't mean much when choosing a RUU to flash.

Mids are important; you may be able to install anything because you're S-off, but That's exactly the reason that you should be extra careful because there are no safety measures to prevent you from damaging your device. Devices with different Mids may have slightly different hardware/ antenna , so installing a different RUU may damage your device

I think it has. If you hover over download links in the last column, you will see that file names begin with variant names.
I guess it would be easier to just find the most recent kitkat nandroid backup of A5_UL around the net, but I wouldn't know for sure as I haven't looked for it

Is the last part MID? Do I even need it? The download says it's for A5_UL and my phone is A5_UL. I'm pretty sure the minor differences between the phones are differentiated by UL, DUG, DWG (and so on...) so if I flash UL to UL, I should be okay? I found the nandroid backups for my phone but I prefer not to use someone's backup as a primary way of restoring the phone.

I don't know about the last part but generally, if it's A5_UL and you're S-off, then it's possible and it will be OK (fingers crossed); although I'm not sure if these files are really RUUs (more like kernels and other stuff for developers) and flashable. you can always try.
nandroid backup is a good idea; they're usually untouched, and you can always do advanced wipe and factory reset afterwards to revert them backup to original.
good luck anyways

And i have located my v.4.4.4 MR file from HTCdev...

I'll probably go with the nandroid backup method because I really need something failsafe - this is still a new phone and I don't want a three month old paperweight. Regarding wiping data and cache, yes that is good but someone could still easly modify the system apk's before backing up. I'm not saying that method isn't valid, I just try to avoid it for security reasons. Also thanks for digging up that code list, it doesn't help me but it might help someone else.
And you, @chikkus5088, you can't downgrade by RUU unless you're S-OFF so just get a TWRP/CWM kitkat backup like said above for your model and you're good to go.

I'd always do the wipe. Ofcourse, make a Nandroid backup beforehand, just in case.
Bad news for all, HTCDev doesn't distribute RUU's after all. Why does no company do this? Anyways - thank you @seekfind for taking the time to help us all. I'm about to flash the nandroid backup I've found on the net but before I do that, is there a way to backup my applications and data from the Lollipop version? I know Lollipop always runs ART so all of my apps that get backed up are already precompiled making them unusable with Dalvik VM - can I switch the stock HTC's Kitkat rom to ART or did they disable that?

What to do to successfully update the latest version and btw my WiFi is working again... :good:
Hi all, I am new to this and just did a bit of research but I still have some questions that you all might be able to answer..
So I just purchased a Chinese S9 due to the dual-sim capability, but of course there is no google play store and is other chinese bloatware.
I was going to change the firmware to another Snapdragon (US) capable firmware, but there is none available for dual-sim, which is the main reason I bought the phone.
My question, is the Hong Kong version of SM-G9600/DS firmware going to allow me to use the google playstore?
If so, what is the difference between "G9600ZHU2ARC6_CL13087568_QB17462476_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.zip (Oreo/HongKong)" and "G9600ZHU1ARC1_CL13087568_QB17191487_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.zip (Oreo/HongKong)"?
If all else fails, will separately downloading/installing the google playstore on the original chinese firmware be functional?
Thanks in advance!
Yes HK firmware comes with playstore and sorry I don't know the difference for the 2 different firmware, the latest one is ARC6

Thank you Zenroid.
I was thinking about it, but is the HK version considered the "International Version" and thus using the Exynos chipset as opposed to the China/USA Snapdragon?
edit: Did a quick google search and the HK version has the Snapdragon chipset. I guess I will need to look around for the HK dual-sim firmware.
The SM-G9600 firmware has the SM-G9600/DS firmware, I installed the SM-G9600 G9600ZHU2ARD3 CHO firmware (Chile) in a dual sim and I have no problems, it works fine, it is the version without blotware for Latin America, it has monthly updates (currently has the security patch of April), has Play Store and all the Samsung apps.
You're absolutely right Dark_3g. The SM-G9600 is for both China/HK and Latin America, luckily.
So I downloaded the HK firmware for SM-G9600 (arc6) and loaded into my phone and everything works perfectly.
Many thanks guys!

When you flashed the new firmware, did it trip KNOX? I know it shouldn't, since it's official, but that doesn't stop my brain from telling me to worry about it, haha.

onijomiko - I have the same question. Does it trip Knox? What is the filename or version number of the firmware you installed? Does it support VoLTE and Wifi calling, for either one or both SIMs?
I bought a HK version phone from a retailer in the US. As soon as I started it, it prompted me an OTA upgrade which I did. Now, it's at baseband version G9600ZCU2ARE6.
If I go to software updates, it says "The latest version updates have already been installed. Current version: G9600ZHU2ARE6/G9600OWO2ARE6/G9600ZCU2ARE6". I'm not sure why it lists three different version numbers here. From a quick google search, samsung-firmware.org shows:
PDA/AP Version G9600ZHU2ARE6
CSC Version G9600OWO2ARE6
MODEM/CP Version G9600ZCU2ARE6
Region COO — Colombia
If I look up the firmware version for Hong Kong, the CSC version shows G9600TGY2ARE6 but the other two version numbers are the same as what I have. Is this what onijomiko installed?
Do either of you onijomiko or Dark_3g have VoLTE and Wifi calling in your versions?

Flashing the official firmwares does NOT trip Knox. I've done it a few times over the last day or two. (Read about all my adventures in this thread).
The three model numbers are the PDA version (the actual firmware/OS), the CSC (country-specific stuff; in your case it's the most recent OWO one, which is the international unlocked version for Latin America; I'm not totally sure about how all these work though--trying to figure out how to get the right one set up on my phone), and the CP (modem firmware, same for all Qualcomm S9's, I think), respectively.
Read up on about Samsung's "CSC" system. If you find any particularly good resources, send them my way too! The way they have designed it is kind of confusing to me.
I'm not sure about VoLTE/Wifi calling. Haven't tried it yet on my phone, sorry. Hope it works though! :fingers-crossed:

Thanks a lot for the info. Do you at least see VoLTE and Wifi Calling menu items under 'Settings > Connections > More settings' after flashing the HK ROM? This will help me to decide to flash it. I'm reading about CSC - will report back if I find anything new that you haven't mentioned in the other thread.

Doesn't seem to be the case with the MXO 2ARC6 firmware (Updato). However, my CSC was also listed as TTT still, so going to reflash and see if I can get it to change. Forgot to disable FRP lock last time, oops, hopefully a reflash with US sim in slot, FRP disabled, followed by factory data reset (or two) will do the trick.
Didn't check when I had the HK firmware flashed, it's been a while since I used it.

I also have the G9600 snapdragon, I'm from Mexico and I'm looking for a different firm from my telcel operator, so you say the one in Chile works, do you know if there is any firmware with android 9 for the G9600 / DS?
So I am using AT&T version Zfold 4 model SM-F936U/DS in India and my software version is as follows:
Build number
SP2A.220305.013.F936USQU1AVGA
Service provider software version
SAOMC_SM-F936U_OYN_GCF_12_0003
GCF/GCF.GCF/XAA
Its stuck on android 12 May update.
I want to flash Indian firmware to make it Indian version of Z fold 4 for faster updates and enabling the call recorder.
What do I need to do? Any help will be appreciated. If this is answered anywhere please provide links to that thread and I will delete this one.
I am totally confused about CSC, firmware version, carrier version etc.
Not gonna happen without root, even then might be difficult.
The Indian model is a F936B model. Trying to flash the firmware on it is like trying to flash IOS on an android.
Did see a way to change CSC in the forum however I believe you needed to have the compatible variant as it needed the OXM ROM flashed 1st.

Your phone, F936U, is carrier locked to the U.S. network, AT&T, and if genuine, can only receive updates when connected on their network as unlike other models, AT&T issue their own firmware updates.
This model also has a locked bootloader which prevents the flashing of alternative stock firmware.
Also, it seems strange that a phone that was only launched in August 2022 would have a, "May", update. Install DevCheck, free from the Play Store and check if you have a clone phone.

I got it carrier unlocked. Everything works fine in India with major carriers, even getting 5G to work here. Attaching screenshots of DevCheck

Seems genuine. Your mention of a May update threw me.
It is running the F936USQU1AVGA firmware which it was launched with and therefore, has never received an update.
However, it is still a bootloader locked model, even though you have it carrier unlocked. The only way to update it is to insert an AT&T SIM card and connect to their network in the US. Other than that, you will need to do a search to see if there are any custom ROM's that utilises the locked AT&T bootloader. Alternatively, just carry on using it as it is

Thanks for clearing these things for me. I appreciate it.
No experience with AT&T but if they release their firmware online then you should be able to download & flash latest using ODIN.
Good Luck....

i dont think its possible, India phone comes with 2 physical sim slots or an esim option for the second sim where as the AT&T which you and I have, comes only with single physical sim.

Hi Chirag,
were you able to update your phone? I have the same model(SM-F936U/DS) and stuck with an old update and no new updates show up even though Andriod 13 has been rolled out for the Indian variants.
if there is no possibility of updating the phone then I might consider selling it! any help woud be appreciated.

There is no way I could find online to get the updates. Nothing works. The only way is to have US sim and be connected to AT&T network in US to get the update which is impossible. So I guess we are stuck with the old os version.

Hi Chirag,
Thanks for the revert. Thats a bummer that we can't do anything with the update. I can still make my peace with the slow updates but having no updates especially the security updates is very concerning.
I will keep you posted in case I happen to come across any solution to this.
Regards,
Amit.

Hi Chirag,
I can confirm the method mentioned shorty9210 indeed works! I just changed the CSC to T-Mob and the updates have started flowing. Just use the samFw.com tool to change the CSC, you will get T-MOB logo once you have changed the CSC but the updates will come by. It didnt delete the data too. Couldnt be any happier!
Give it a shot!
Cheers,
Amit.
