Not receiving notifications when screen is off

Hi All,
I have a N7105 and I've just noticed that I'm not receiving any notifcations from Facebook or WhatsApp (I've only tested it on those 2 apps so far) running on data not WiFi when the screen is off.
Once I turn the screen on, the notifications still don't appear, however once I access an app or internet browser that requires data connection, then I would receive those notifications.It seems like the data is switched OFF when the screen is also off.
I've read a few posts outside of XDA and apperntly it could be a 'Jelly Bean' 4.1.1 bug?
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

it started happening to me too, ive noticed however, that as soon as i unlock the phone, it says connected to 'blabla' wifi and receive the msg straight away.. strange

have u install any battery saving like app? which might auto turn off data for battery saving

No I dont have any battery saving app. Auto sync is on.

Did you install any task killers?

seem to happen on me recently too, on wanamlite's latest rom, i still have yet to find a solution. I don't have any tasks killers or battery saving apps installed.

Can you test it with wifi and see if it still happens?
Also can you still receive calls and sms while screen is off?
Also also, have you ever installed any battery saving application?

It works fine with WiFi.
I can still receive calls and sms straight away while the screen is off.
I haven't ever installed any battery saving application.

It's stock as a rock. I only got the fone last week. What's fast dormancy? I guess I haven't since I don't know what it is.

Which rom are you on? If you're on the newest, try getting on an older one to see if it helps.
Also have you checked your APN settings for your carrier?
Lastly, check that you do in fact get NO data as soon as the screen is off. Test all the apps, and email. Download an app from Play, and turn off the screen mid way to see if it interrupts.

Im on jelly bean 4.1.1.
I've checked my APN even reset to default even though I didnt touch it when it came out of the box from my service provider.
Most of the time I wont receuve a notification unless I turn the screen on and wait a minute or 2. However they do come through sometimes when the screen is off but theres like at least a 10-20 min delay from when the message was sent to me and the maximum time ive noticed is 1 hour.
I called Samsung and they suggest I hard reset using a code they gave me. Really frustrating and ive only had this fone for just over a week.
I don't really want to hard reset this brand new fone. But it looks like I have no choice since no 1 else is experiencing this problem.

Its a possibility but my cousin has the exact same fone and we're with the same carrier as we both got thr phones at the same time.
He's sgn2 is fine. Receives all notifications when the screen is off seamlessly. I compared both our settings and its exactly the same. Which is why I doubt that it would be a carrier fault. But I again I could be wrong.

Ok. I gave up. I ended up factory resetting the phone. Its resetting now as I type.
What is more frustrating the code: *2767*3855# to hard reset didnt even work! It came up with an error saying that it is an invalid code.
So i just went to settings then factory reset.
If this doesnt fix the problem, I will call Samsung again and ask for a replacement handset.

Camera Failed

today I upgraded the firmware on the tmobile note 2, had a quadrant benchmark of 6400.
when I went into the camera, the "camera failed" dialog appeared
I restarted the phone, and the camera worked.
Does this happen sometimes after upgrading the firmware?
The firmware update was OTA

Yes, it can happen. Sometimes it just needs a restart to refresh the apps. As long as you don't have any problems now, you shouldn't need to worry.

Weather auto refresh works 5% of the time.

My built in weather widget is supposed to update every 1 hr. However it rarely ever does that. Most of the time I have to manually update the weather. It's getting extremely annoying. My phone is full stock. What can I do?

I can't be the only one

same for me too. plus sometimes when i update it manually, it doesnt update. i have to enable gps + wifi for it to update. :/

GPS, WIFI, and Mobile Data are always enabled on my phone, but more often than not I have to keep manually updating the weather which sucks! Any solutions ?

I changed the weather app. Am using accuweather and finally its updating by itself. Maybe u should try it too.

I tried it, but I really hated the fact that their widget doesn't have the clock. :crying: And why can't Samsung make a simple weather app that updates?????????

yea clock is missing in accuweather. but at least it is refreshing by itself. and i dont know y other people not commenting on this thread. are we the only ones having this prob?:S

Having a similar issue. I haven't checked thoroughly enough but I think it doesn't update when I'm indoors.. don't really care for weather so I don't notice it too much, but when I'm outside it seems to update normally.

for me..i dont really check it when am outside. but when am home and i use my phone. i see it not updating and it irritates me

It happens to me too.. I'm using the lock screen with weather display as the sign.. in my experience, it updates only when the screen is on, or at least if your phone's using data...
i put on weather refresh every 1 hour, at exactly X:00 minute, but it deviates from hour to hour, sometimes the minutes became 02, 04, etc. sometimes it doesn't even update for a couple of hours, usually when its on standby.. sucks

I put it to hourly updates and it seems like the weather refreshes on screen on. It updated at 7 when my alarm went off and at 8.12 which is the next time I turned the screen on after the supposed update time..

I would be very happy if mine did that (which it does rarely). Most of the time it wont update until I manually update it. Even changing the frequency from hourly to 12hours and then back to hourly doesn't make it update regularly.

Another update. It seems updating becomes a bit of a hit and miss if you activate lock screen weather. Everything was fine until I activated that and it's not updating again. Not a solution but maybe it'll help some people

Lag on Vzw HTC OnE??

Hey guys I just got my HTC One and I have read forums and articles where they say that the HTC One doesnt have any lag. Well idk if I got a defective phone or something but my One has definite lag sometimes especially on the launcher. Does anyone else experience this or is my phone F'd up?

Now and even when I was on the stock rom, the day it launched, I never got any lag. It might be caused by an app you have running in the background. I wouldnt be surprised if some of the verizon/htc bloatware is causing the lag.

How would I check this? Idk since the day I got it I've had some pretty bad lag. Which surprised me since everyone was saying that the HTC one was totally lag free

Lag is perception with recent phones. If you think you see something you'd brain believes it... Or you have a defective unit.

I just did a factory reset on my phone and I'm still getting some lag especially on the HTC Launcher when I'm scrolling

Go to Settings > Apps and slide the screen over to "Running" in there you can see what is currently being used by your phone. It will also show you how much RAM is currently being used.
It might also help uninstalling some of the apps you do not use, like facebook, g+ or whatever else is something not in use. Once we get the write privileges fixed you will be able to remove things like HTC Car and other apps that are installed to the system partition but not actually required for the phone to function.

I meant totally disable it by tapping "Disable" but it's one of those apps where the disable button is greyed out. I hate those apps

I'd definitely exchange it. Are you using the car app? If not, it shouldn't be doing anything. And every review says this phone has no lag. The only time i see lag on my note 2 is when play store is updating crap in the background. Always slows things down.

Well actually I tried something and I went back to using a task killer and it seems to be doing the trick. Got rid of the lag and the car app no longer shows up on the running apps. Idk works for now, hopefully we can get this phone unlocked so I can start getting this thing to it's full potential

Zen UI problems?or android os problems!

Hello guys.
I have some issues with zenfone2 ,i dont know whether they r relates to zen ui or android os.
If u guys find more or know solutions,kindly post here in thia thread.
1.notification issues-m not getting notification displays in notification /status bar on my phone when i m using any application.m just getting voice.
2.can not see notifications on lockscreen when usin pin screen lock
3.battery drains a lot faster.phone gets switched off even when phone is having 18% or more battery
4.can not download playstore apps simultaneously have to load on at a time.

I'm having problems like wen I get a text I get 1 tone and sometimes I don't just vibrate also I want option for it to go off every 2 minutes cuz sometimes I will miss message

With new update lot has been solvedjust want to ask two things,is it normal that phone light doesnot wake up on recieving notifications and is it normal to not recieve glimpse of notification in status bar when we r using application which uses fullscreen?
