Fingerprint + Password/PIN/Pattern, possible to require both every time? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is all based on the stock ROM, but I would be interested to hear if it's different in any of the custom ROMs that are available.
So, if you set up a fingerprint, you also have to set up a PIN, Password, or unlock Pattern. After the first fingerprint unlock after boot, it requires this extra security, and then stops requiring it until after some timeout has passed, or until a number of failed attempts at fingerprint unlock. It is also then super easy to accidentally unlock the phone by literally touching it in the wrong spot.
I would like to have my phone require both a fingerprint and a PIN, Password, or unlock Pattern. "Something you have and something you know" and all that.
Is there an Xposed module that would do this, or a custom lock screen that could be installed? Thanks for your help. I've tried searching about this and have not found anything helpful.

Fingerprint unlock is treated as a lower security level than password/pin/pattern.
When you boot, device doesn't really require both (just turn the screen on and slide up and the security you chose will be promted)

Security Problem: Phone Sometimes is Unlocked

Hello,
I have an unlocked HTC 10 and have noticed over the past few months that on occasion, the password protection is turned off. I have a password set up as well as the fingerprint reader and both work well. But every so often, I'll notice that the lock key is unlocked on the lock screen and I can swipe up without having to use my fingerprint or type in a password. This is not secure and is a glitch that needs to be fixed. I checked through all of my security settings and cannot find anything that could be causing the issue. Smart Lock is only enabled for my car and my home. I notice this unlocked lock screen when I'm at work so it's not related to that. Trusted voice, face, and on-body detection are all off. The only way I can get the phone to be locked again and require my fingerprint or password is to restart the device. The issue still persists with the new Android 7.0 update as well.
Anyone else notice this issue? Any suggestions?
Thank you

[A3 Nougat] Screen unlock issues

Hi all.
I keep having issues with screen unlock.
First it would only unlock via fingerprint and not using pin.
To test a little i then selected pattern + fingerprint and now it doesn't require either except on first boot up. I can simply swipe to unlock. However, if I scan a non registered finger it says "no match".
I'm not connected to trusted devices...
Any ideas what causes this behaviour? It shouldn't be due to removing stock bloatware, right (Samsung, Google, FB apps)?
Many thanks!
It sounds to me like you have one of the "Smart Lock" settings enabled. These override the pattern and fingerprint settings when specific conditions are met: the device is on your body, the device is at home, or the device is within range of your smartwatch.
They should really be called "Smart Unlock" settings. You can find these settings under "Lock screen > Secure lock settings".
Sort of an old thread, but I'm also facing issues with the unlock screen lag. Somehow it is related to the battery saving: since it slows down the CPU, apparently the system doesn't have time to "process" the unlock pattern (or PIN, same problem; and hang me if that process should take longer than a couple nanoseconds), and the screen goes back to black before the unlock is successful. As a temporary workaround, I've disabled battery saving, and now at least I can unlock with pattern or PIN. But the real problem must reside somewhere else. It's not acceptable that an operating system takes that long in processing the unlock.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 ONE UI PIE 9 Pattern Unlock Issue!

Hi i was rooted on Oreo 8.1 everything was fine, i just updated to ONE UI PIE 9 it updated fine and it booted up fine..
But now i can’t login, every time i input my Security pattern, the screen goes black and it just returns to the lock screen!
But if i input the wrong pattern it tells me it’s wrong, but if i input the correct pattern it will not unlock just a black screen for about a second then returns to swipe screen to unlock!
Does anyone know how to fix this ?
Thanks!
Never mind i tried safe mode could not login, the i tried wiping cache would not login also tried reboots no luck, i had to hard reset the Tab S4 that sucks all my info lost People do not update if you got lock enable some lame bug won’t let you unlock your device! disable your pin pattern etc before updating
I got iris scan with pin secondary. My pin has had no problems unlocking same as iris
For curiosity sake have you tried pattern unlock since reset?

Bizarre BUG HELP: Suddenly Can't set number/ pattern lock without adding fingerprint

Hi there, Please help me with this weird bug in my MM3's lock function. I haven't read about it anywhere else and I did not update or tweak my rooted system in any way so I'm at a loss as to what caused this probleman d how to fix it.
I am no longer able to employ a simple numerical or pattern screen lock. I go to settings, choose and then confirm the number or pattern, and hit accept -- at which point it asks me for a fingerprint (which I do not want to add) and when I hit cancel, the phone remains unlocked. If I hit add a fingerprint and refuse to present my finger, the phone also remains unlocked. This is so freaking weird!
(MM3 rooted but on stock Android 9 PKQ1.181007.001 -- Miui Global 11.0.6 Stable)
Honestly, I wouldn't give a damn as I never use a screen lock except I am in fact forced to use it every few weeks or whenever I want to review my Brave browser passwords. It forces me to set a lock screen in order to see them. So if there's a workaround just to see passwords, that would do me fine.
Because the basic number and pattern locks aren't functioning properly, I wouldn't even consider adding a fingerprint (and in fact, I have never done so. I have a probably irrational distrust of fingerprint, voice and retina security ... plus I live alone so such measures aren't necessary)
Can anyone give me any clues as to what could be causing this and how to fix it or get around it? Or even if there is a way to see my Brave passwords without employing a lock?
Theoretically, I could try temporarily installing a fingerprint lock which I could then remove after reviewing my Brave passwords. But I have an irrational dislike of fingerprint, voice and retina locks and never use that stuff. Moreover, given the basic number and gesture locks aren't functioning properly, the last thing I want to do is try a fingerprint.

Make Lock Screen Stop Asking for PIN While Phone Encrypted

Hello, I'm running a Samsung S4 Mini (I9195) with LineageOS 18.1. Smart Lock isn't cutting it for me, I don't use GPS, I only have BT on when listening to music. I want to have the ability to unlock and lock the lock screen at my leisure, to make it stop asking for my PIN until I press-hold the lock icon on the lock screen to make it ask for PIN again.
I used to be able to do that, by setting up a system profile that sets the lock screen to not ask for PIN when it is activated. After having encrypted my phone via the option in the Security settings menu, I can't do this particular thing. Amusingly, I can still remove the PIN from the phone entirely and make the lock screen stop asking for one that way, but that requires going into settings, disabling the PIN, and then setting it up over again when I want it back.
So can I still set whether the lock screen asks for PIN easily somehow? Is the only way to do this to undo the phone's encryption? I could do that easily enough, all partitions have been backed up in recovery just prior to encryption.
