[Q] Buying a Note II

Hi,
I would like to buy a Note II on kijiji Edmonton and I am just wondering if a normal unlocked version would work with Wind mobile Canada in 3G (I can pass on LTE or AWS)...
Would root and mod help in that? For now I' using a Galaxy Nexus with cm 11

if you're flashoholic, don't buy samsung with knox enabled. unless someone break that knox

I'm reading about it but how is it related to using a wind mobile sim or rooting?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Knox
When you flash custom rom he knox flag will be set and at this moment there is no way to reset it. This voids your warranty.
Other than that you can still root it. Afterwards if it's carrier locked you can unlock it with GalaxSim Unlock and use it on whichever network you like.
So from what I read your phone has to be rooted already and the SIM card of the carrier has to be in to do that...
is there also a free version to unlock or root a note?

[Q] Tethering with an international sim card

I am trying to use the AT&T Note 4 (Lollipop C2) with a European sim and although I could tether with the same sim and a Galaxy S 4, the Note 4 doesn't let me tether. When I turn on tethering, the eligibility check program pops up (I guess if I were using my AT&T card to see whether I have tethering provisioned) and then turns the WIFI tethering off. Again this is an international sim with tethering provisioned. Since there is no root yet to bypass the provision check, is there any other option I could use? Any ideas?
AT&T Tethering not working with Note 4
Symptom: AT&T Tethering not working with Note 4 and as well other programs like Wallet
Hardware: AT&T Samsung Note 4 910A
Provider: You have other than AT&T SIM inside your smart phone
Cause: AT&T software loaded on your AT&T Samsung Note 4 910A is locked off for tethering and checks AT&T for a code to unlock it. It first checks the type of sim you have and it fails on that check giving you "Mobile Data is not available or Invalid SIM" error when you try to turn on mobile hot spot. Because you don't have an AT&T provider you will always get this error. I read that AT&T charges separate for tethering as a service?
Solution: Wiping your phone does nothing and you need to root your phone an apply the patch. I have called my provider up in Canada and they informed me they will try to get the code from AT&T. It is difficult to root the AT&T version of your phone as I am reading this online unlike other versions. They put something on the phone. I also stuck on this problem like the rest of you and is in the process of finding a proper root for this version of phone and than installing TWRP thereafter to help backup my ROM before I do any changes. To root your phone you need odin, but I was reading it now doesn't work for Note 4 AT&T version? I have to investigate if this is true.
I hope that helps?

Wifi Hotspot Hack - Unlocked or VZW

Is there a hack out there to get the Hotpsot working on the Unlocked version? What about with the Verizon model?
Should be easy if you root and install a custom ROM (however that breaks OTA). This worked for me for my non-rooted unlocked. Per this thread, removing the SIM card, enabling hotspot and then plugging back in the SIM allows it to bypass authentication: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/mobile-hotspot-t3375254/page2

Thats a nice temporary hack but once you disable it and then try to re-enable it it will not pass authentication again. In other words you have to remove the sim card evertime you want to turn on the hotspot.
Yea... not much you can do without installing a custom ROM or root to change some of the default.xml settings.
You can do what I do... cut up the sim card tray flap from the box and carry it in your wallet. Works for me because I only need to use hotspot when I'm traveling and it's not my main source of internet at home.
I'm trying to figure this out now myself

How to delete AT&T bloatware from Samsung Note 4 SM-910A

Bought an unlocked Samsung Note 4 SM-910A via Ebay from a reseller in Ottawa. Android 5.1.1. It works with my prepaid Koodo (Telus discount service) sim card. (Originally had to return a SM-910T that was blacklisted.) The problem is the phone is AT&T bloatware heavy.
Then I discovered after much reading of this site and the Androidcentral site that the bootloader cannot be unlocked so the AT&T version of the Note 4 cannot be rooted and therefore it is impossible to flash a custom ROM.
I also read that the temp roots on this SM-910A are not stable.
Is there way to use temp root to permanently delete or move AT&T and other unwanted files to a temporary app subdirectory and not have the effort reversed every time I restart the phone?
Suggestions? Or should I simply try to exchange it/get a refund?
Package Disabler Pro (Samsung) from the Play Store is your best bet.
I bought Package Disabler Pro Samsung
Thanks jibjab90.

SM-N975U1 AT&T lost tethering

I updated to UF1 (unlocked firmware) on AT&T and I can no longer tether with a hotspot, I now get the message that my plan does not support tethering. My question is, has anyone updated their phone to UF1 or later been able to keep on tethering on AT&T? If so which firmware and CSC did you use?
