Hello.
Sorry if this has been asked/answered before I couldn't find in my searches.
I have SGH-I317 (AT&T) Note2, can I flash roms for T889?
There are two reason why I want to do so:
1) I'm getting TMOB sim card and would like to be able use phone over wifi
2) want to test if google hangous video call will work over data connection. I know for a fact that it's not possible without modifying some entries in .db on AT&T phone (it requires WiFi connection), but on TMOB there are no restrictions. So my idea is to check if it checks the network provider or just rom
Thanks.
I am trying to use the AT&T Note 4 (Lollipop C2) with a European sim and although I could tether with the same sim and a Galaxy S 4, the Note 4 doesn't let me tether. When I turn on tethering, the eligibility check program pops up (I guess if I were using my AT&T card to see whether I have tethering provisioned) and then turns the WIFI tethering off. Again this is an international sim with tethering provisioned. Since there is no root yet to bypass the provision check, is there any other option I could use? Any ideas?
AT&T Tethering not working with Note 4
Symptom: AT&T Tethering not working with Note 4 and as well other programs like Wallet
Hardware: AT&T Samsung Note 4 910A
Provider: You have other than AT&T SIM inside your smart phone
Cause: AT&T software loaded on your AT&T Samsung Note 4 910A is locked off for tethering and checks AT&T for a code to unlock it. It first checks the type of sim you have and it fails on that check giving you "Mobile Data is not available or Invalid SIM" error when you try to turn on mobile hot spot. Because you don't have an AT&T provider you will always get this error. I read that AT&T charges separate for tethering as a service?
Solution: Wiping your phone does nothing and you need to root your phone an apply the patch. I have called my provider up in Canada and they informed me they will try to get the code from AT&T. It is difficult to root the AT&T version of your phone as I am reading this online unlike other versions. They put something on the phone. I also stuck on this problem like the rest of you and is in the process of finding a proper root for this version of phone and than installing TWRP thereafter to help backup my ROM before I do any changes. To root your phone you need odin, but I was reading it now doesn't work for Note 4 AT&T version? I have to investigate if this is true.
I hope that helps?
On stock nj2 AT&T ROM when I'm on T-Mobile network my WiFi hotspot doesn't work either does USB tethering. I fixed it by flashing R.R ROM and now it all works for me. Its just broken on stock. Best to use a Custom ROM if your using your phone as a hotspot. I have AT&T note 2 unlocked on T-Mobile network.
Is there any way to get wifi calling on att with an unlocked s9 from best buy? Flashing att firmware or would it be best to get the att model? Must have wifi calling for work reasons and I hate all the bloatware but might not have a choice.
at&t probably blocks it, if you don't get their version. I have an unlocked, but on T-Mobile, and it works.
I flashed the AT&T firmware on my unlocked S9 and wifi calling and video calling worked.
With the stock firmware on the unlocked S9 nether option was there
Can you point me in the direction of a download for the stock firmware for AT&T? I'm wanting to do the same as well, but feeling pretty clueless about where to obtain it. thanks!
Same here. It works for me on T-Mobile
If I flash the att firmware will I still get firmware updates?

if you flash the att firmware or buy it straight from att you will end up a device supporting the same capabilities. So it's down to your tech skills or budget.
Where can I find the latest att firmware? I did not see it on sammobile.
How to
Step 1 Go to this thread for Firmware (thanks @iBowToAndroid)
You will want to go to the link for the U firmware and find the folder with the AT&T userdata file (RB7) download the user data file and the full firmware.
Step 2 Go to this thread to get the modified version of Odin that recognizes the GS9 firmware files. (Thanks @mweinbach and Raymondf )
You will then flash the downloaded files from Step 1 in Odin, after flashing the firmware the phone will boot into recovery and you will need to wipe data and cache.
Thanks so much... that did actually help me... as a fairly tech savvy person who doesn't really get into this stuff much, the lingo I didn't know was leading me astray... I had come across that thread but didn't recognize it as anything that would help me. Thanks again! Onward to bricking my phone!

Thanks for the info. A follow-up question: is it possible to flash it back to the stock unlocked firmware? The reason is that I'll need to use foreign SIM card when I travel overseas.

I have unlocked version on TMobile and wifi calling works just fine.
Do you have to flash the att firmware to the unlocked version in order to get VoLTE? I don’t care about WiFi calling, just hd calling and being able to stay on lte when making a call, rather than have it drop to HSPA during the call.

Probably wont last. Unless att has an imei number from an wifi calling att phone on that account it will eventually go away.

I understand, but unless att has changed its policies in the last month, if u do not have an imei number on that account that is an att phone with wifi calling it will turn itself off as soon as your phone is interrogated by the network. Theres 100 threads on it , applies to unlocked s8, s7, etc...
Toggle is there because of firmware, not because it works.

That's the way it's supposed to work.
Any help/guidance for me??
I have tried a few times to use the March 2018 RB7 files with the ATT user data to get my phone to ATT stock - primarily for the Enhanced LTE (data and voice at the same time), as well as Wifi Calling. I can't get that version to load. I did get a more recent version to load (RK1) - and maybe that is the issue. Just wondering if there is a newer set of files and what specifically I should use (AP,BL... UserData) to get the phone fully set to AT&T. I now have the wifi calling option, just can't get it enabled. Any help is appreciated.

When you try to enable it do any of the AT&T Wifi calling configuration screens pop up?
Hi all, I'm hoping someone can answer a few questions before I flash my phone (or waste my time doing so).
I'm using a Verizon Branded Note 10+ (N975U). However, it's carrier unlocked and being used on Total Wireless (a Verizon MVNO - subsidiary of TracFone).
I'm not getting OTA updates because I'm no longer on "real" verizon service. I verified this by waiting 5 weeks for the Android 10 update, and then popped in a friends VZW SIM and got the update instantly. I'm now behind again (Verizon dropped their most recent update over a month ago w/Jan security patch) and receiving "no update available" using the update firmware option in settings.
Additionally, my total wireless SIM can't populate an APN, and I've had nothing but problems with my data as a result. I'm assuming this is because of the VZW CSC, but not sure.
I'm thinking of flashing to the most current U1 firmware, and hoping/assuming this will resolve my problems. Wondering if anyone has any feedback.
If I do it, should I flash the VZW CSC again, or use the TFN CSC for Tracfone, or XAA for default? Do I need to hard reset? Official or Modded Odin? Etc.. Any help would be appreciated.
A little further info: If I put an AT&T SIM card into my phone, it will populate the AT&T APN from the SIM card, so I'm assuming my APN issue is that Total Wireless still uses the VZW CSC, and there's a conflict that Verizon firmware overrides the APN setup aspect. However, my Total Wireless SIM card works perfectly fine and populates the APN on my Unlocked S9+. This is a big part of what makes me think going to U1 will help my issues.
Yes flash the U1, you won't have any issues and will be even better on total wireless. I did the same for MetroPCS

Did it work?
What CSC works for the SM-N975U on Total Wireless?
Thanks in advance!
