Charging port - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

This past saturday I decided to get my charger port fixed because you would have to prop the phone up to get it to charge and I get tired of doing it so I took it to a cell shop to get fixed. They fixed the problem with the port but another problem arose. I could get a signal outside my house or anywhere outside but as soon as I walked inside I would lose signal and would have to use wifi to get anything on my phone. So I took it back today and they changed out the port again saying that the charging port and the antenna is all connected in one piece. Well when I get back to the place to pick up my phone they can't get a signal period inside or out!!!! Now they are saying its because my phone is rooted and flashed that its acting crazy. I don't think the rom had anything to do with my problem but I was running Phronesis-N9005-N5-v4 . So I just flashed another ROM on my phone just to prove its not the rom. So I flashed DARTHSTALKER v7. And you guessed it still no signal just wifi. Does anyone have a clue as to what is wrong so I can get this fixed so I can get back to normal PLEASE!!!!! All help is very much appreciated!!! Thank you in advance!!!

Is the port a Samsung oem part? If not, try using an authentic Samsung USB port.

I don't know if they used oem part or not but I will try your suggestion. Thank you for your response.

[Q] (HELP) Fix for Desire no signal, sound or USB connection.

Help!
I have been a owner of the Desire for a year, rooted it, (no s-off) but no problems at all till now. I'm on T-Mobile.
About 3 weeks ago I noticed that I had no signal. At first this wasn't a surprise because of where I live can be described as 'countryside' so I don't really get much signal. However, after travelling to a different place I found that I still had no signal. Later on that day, I was relieved to find I had signal again, albeit for 10 minutes as it went rather soon. After this I found I had no sound or USB connection. I left it off for a considerable amount of time, about 12 days yet I turned it on today: still no signal! I suspect it is a hardware problem but still have tried a couple of ROMS but found no difference.
So I have a few questions. Has anyone had this or found a fix? Even as I've rooted (yes I know I've lost warranty) can I send it in? (I also have phone insurance).
Thanks in advance!
Flash back the orignal desire ruu and you can send it back to where you got it from for a replacement or fix. So long as you are still under warranty or have a very understanding insurance.
Thanks for your reply!
I don't think I'd be able to flash the RUU since I can't connect via USB :/
what do you mean warranty? You lose it when you root. And also, what will the phone insurance do?
Try the usb brick fix, which can be found here on xda.
Swyped from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
I don't actually think it would help? And is it dangerous? It charges on USB and on mains:/
I've also noticed that when I try to play a song white noise softly comes out of the speaker:/
Many thanks for help
Anyone? thanks for the help, I suck at software stuff
yeah you only loose warranty when you root if they know about it.. when you restore your phone with RUU there is no way to tell and it looks like a stock phone - and your warranty is "restored".
and I'd try the same (USB Brick fix guide), then run RUU

I really hate it when people ask for help, get an answer and then they say "I do not think it would help!" without any good reason.

Okay I see your point but I thought the USB brick fix was for a completely other thing? But thanks for the advice, I shall try that. Is it difficult, and dangerous? For my last question if worse turns to worse should I get the stock rom still with root and try to wing it?
Cheers for all your help!

If you ask the me, the the guide for fixing usb brick is not too difficult. It's not dangerous at all, make sure you follow the instructions carefully. When finished, flash ruu and use your warranty for your speaker problem.
Fix!
Yes!!
I was going to wait till the weekend to try the USB brick fix, so I could have time to take it slowly.
So I got up today and got my phone from where I stored it... And It had service!
Im charging it atm so after I will check sound & USB connection
Thank you all so much

if you still ever have problems with signal, type this into the dialer *#*#4636#*#*
go to phone information, and play around with the preferred network type, as there might not be certain networks types available in your area (i.e. no 3g, just 2g etc.)
i had the same issues, i could not connect to the network, or if it did.. it was low signal and not as it normally was.
so here is what u do... go to your settings menu. click on wireless and networks. and next.. turn on Airplane mode... (This will disable all your wireless connections.) now while the phone is on, and airplane mode enabled. take the Battery out.. Wait 30 second or so.. put the battery back in..... and turn on your phone as usual... and it will still be in airplane mode... again go to the settings menu.. wireless and networks, and now turn off the airplane mode. and now your phone should work as it did.. This reconnects it to the towers, or carrier... I had this work for me.. simple...

nexus not charging

i know it is already posted but my issue is different. Some can charge their phone when it is off but mine cant charge even if its off.
When its off and i plug the charger the lightning logo appears, it indicates that its charging but when i turn it on the percentage of the battery remained the same. it didnt charge at all. Also my pc does not recognize my phone whether if its off or on.
i tried with no luck changing rom, kernel, used different cables and chargers (i even used one from LG).
i want to take it back to samsung but my bootloader is unlocked, im using costume rom, and rooted. They will not accept or repair it
EDIT: i want to install the stock rom and relock bootloader but how? since my pc doesnt connect to my phone
Look in the development section and download the nexus toolkit.

Use a cocktail stick and try push the chipinside your phone slot upwards a little (if the phone were laid faceup on a table). Be delicate as you dont want to force it, but a little nudge up and your problems should aaaaall be resolved.
ive already done that no luck.
bump!
if i can restore my phone to stock recovery, stock rom, stock kernel, remove root will they accept it(warranty)? or do they have something to know that i modified my phone?
EDIT: because im planning to return in back to samsung

Is it a play store model or international? If it is international and you are located in the USA, Samsung will not do it. You can replace the usb port yourself..
mine too
Mine did the exact same thing. Good luck sending it in and having them actually fix it. I'm beginning to think their tech guys are really just a room full of chimps randomly putting stuff together.
I told them exactly what the problem was (because I looked it up before sending it in and my problem was the exact same as everyone else's) and they ignored me and just switched out the battery. That didn't work, so I sent it back again. Then, they updated the software. Since it's a hardware issue, obviously that did nothing. Now, they have repaired the PBA. I don't know what a PBA is or what it has to do with my USB port, but I'm betting the issue still will not be fixed and I'll have to send it back, yet again. After all this mess, I think I'm done with Samsung entirely.

i have sent it already. fortunately i was able to return to stock without USB. Hope they cant detect that ive done a mess on my phone.
probably the repair shop where you took your phone are just too lazy to repair. I hope they wont do the mess they did to you but i think it depends on tech guys if they are lazy enough to repair.

it is international and im in Italy. i took it back to the shop where ive bought and they'ce accepted it. The problem is that this shop will send my phone to samsung and i afraid that they will call me and ask me if i did something that voids my warranty

Did you get it fixed?
This is kind of what my phone is doing too (here's the thread i've made)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2059289
It will charge, but only to a certain point, regardless of rom, kernel, on or off, etc
over the past few days the maximum charge has gone down and down. Now it only charges to a max of 82%. I have 2 batteries and it does the same thing on each. My (hopeful) solution is that i bought an external wall battery charger and will charge batteries that way. I have the verizon model so if i wanted to do some sort of warranty work i'd probably have to go through them (not even sure if im still covered). I really dont want to deal with it. It boggles my mind why my phone is doing this though, charges fine but not to full. Oh well c'est la vie.

i wouldnt recommend that to people, for me it went from a phone with "phantom charging" (ie flashing on and off for charging) and issues charging to a short circuit on the usb connection, so that the phone switches off when a usb cable is plugged in. What is well worth trying first is simply giving the port a good clean, a little bit of alcohol and that same cocktail stick may well solve your issue. I've been left charging via a chopped up usb cable to the dock connectors.
i dont doubt that forcing the tab in the port may have worked for you, but it has failed badly for others (ie me), so just be careful suggesting it
I had a similar problem as my micro usb socket was damaged. Don't worry about sending it for repair, do it yourself. The circuit board with a new micro usb socket is available on ebay, I paid £5 for mine. Watch a tear-down video or 2 on youtube and you will be sorted.
The GNex is easy to take apart requiring just a small philips head screwdriver and a pry tool, i used a guitar pik, and these are also available on ebay for just a few ££'s.
Can do the whole job in 15 minutes.

[Q] Charging problem

Hello people,
I got a GT-i9300 for about 7 months now and since yesterday i got problems charging it.
2 days ago i went to sleep and as always putted it on charge and i saw the charging notification. When i woke up ~8h later the phone was not charged at all and while connected it was not charging.
I tried reconnecting it a couple of times but nothing. I tried connecting it to a pc but nothing. Then i used the charger that came with S4 and after a couple of seconds it started charging, few minutes later it just stopped again. Reconnected it and it was charging, made it to 100% normally.
Today i tried connecting it again but now it won't charge, likewise i won't connect to pc the moment i connect it but after ~5m at least and it's only charging, the pc won't see the phone anywhere.
Also tried another S3 charger but nothing.
I only have official samsung chargers. 2 x s3 and a s4 one. None works on it at the moment while they work normally on my s4.
I tried it turning it off and removing battery but nothing, did a full wipe but still nothing.
The usb itself looks alright plus yesterday when i was charging it i moved the wire around a bit to check if it was the connection but it was not.
I was looking around the web but found nothing and the similar threads here ain't the same as my case.
Also the phone is on official firmware and not rooted.
Does anyone know anything about it ? I will most likely take it to service tomorrow but since i need the phone i would prefer not to have a ~5 days delay from them.
I have the same problem and the only thing that will charge it is a higher voltage playbook charger. I'm not too sure what the problem is but if you do get it serviced could you please post the cause of this issue?

Sadly i don't have a higher voltage charger plus i don't think it's a good idea to use that, at least not all the time.
Will take it for service tomorrow unless i solve it somehow. Will report back with what they will tell me.
I had previously flashed official 4.2 on my s3 but i reverted to the carrier official version, about 2 months ago. Any chance i will have problems with warranty with the flash count being 3 ?
I read that you normally don't have a problem but i want to know if someone had first hand experience with that.

This can very well be a problem. Your best option is to root and reset flash counter with triangle away. After reset, re install original firmware with Odin. If they do warranty fix it, it will be by replacing the motherboard, so if there is anything you need off of it, be sure to back it up on a computer. Also, flashing original with Odin can wipe the device so back up before then. If they look and see a custom flash counter of 3, your warranty will be void.
Alright, took it to service yesterday ( official samsung service ) and got it today. They changed the usb port and all is good, warranty had it covered.
I didn't reset counter before giving it but they either didn't check the counter or checked it and it was not an issue.

Galaxy s4 signal

Ok so I recently just fixed my USB port because my phone wouldn't charge . I just turned it on and it finally charges but I have a problem it is getting no signal. Do you guys think I did something wrong or is it because I'm rooted but before I replaced it , it was working prefecture fine. Also I am expecting a replacement phone this Monday for this phone since I asked for one do you think they will notice I replaced the USB port?

If the usb port looks like the stock one and is not noticeable, I'd say they wouldn't notice it. If the job looks like it was replaced, has scratches and outwardly noticeable differences from the stock port, they would notice it.....
Pics may help.
You're returning the device so be sure to return it to stock and check all settings to be sure it is stock, or the usb port will be the least of your potential problems

What are the reasons you're returning the device?
If signal issues are one of them, fine.
If not, it doesn't matter as long as your device is bone stock, including all settings.
They won't be checking for signal, and if they did, it wouldn't matter as they are going to refurb the unit and you're not the cause for the signal loss, and if you were, how can anyone prove it?
At this point the signal loss can be caused by a myriad of issues, of which none may be user related.
Just make sure those water indicator stickers are dry
When you go back to stock, you may find you have signal.
The signal loss may be due to T-Mobile tower issues, setting issues, etc.
Don't Worry, Be Happy, as they say
But do be Sure that your device is Stock, including Recovery and All related settings, Including the Bootloader count and not showing Custom, etc.

[Q] My s3's motherboard fried?

Last week, before going to sleep, I put my s3 phone to charge before going to class. When i woke up in the morning i knew something was wrong because my alarm never rang.
Because i live in india now, I first called samsung and they told me I would have to pay 70$ just to ship it to texas center and then have to pay whatever the cost is to fix the problem.
Naturally, I took it to a mobile repair shop down the road. They first said my phone had some boot problem. After a week they said nothing could be done and that the motherboard is fried.
Here are the problems.. When i woke up, the phone was off and the charging light wasnt even showing. I kept trying to turn thr phone on and it tuened on once all the way to the samsung logo and sound and then shut off again. After that, it hasnt turned on since. Boot menu doesnr work. Download menu also doesnt work.
It doesnt turn on but the charging light shows uo when i insert thr charging cable.
What do you guys think? What should i do? Is my motherboard really fried? Should i try to find a new motherboard on amazon and try setting it up myself? I dont think my warranty is still active with at&t if that makes any difference.
Looking forward to any help,thanks.
Plug into a computer and check device manager. If it says qhsusb_dload or something similar it may just be bricked. If so try the debrick method in this section. Worth a shot before spending money on it.

After I plug into the computer..nothing happens.
Ill try again after i get home.
The phone is rooted. Though i havnt updated it in a very long time.
Also i should mention that sometimes the red charging light comes on and sometimes it doesnt. Also when i connected it to a different computer it showed a message rhat something failed to download.
Which charging adapter did you use? Was it the stock samsung adapter or an aftermarket one?
so after plugging in the phone to the computer, I tried to look for anything in the device manager, however have come up empty handed.
So, its safe to assume, its not bricked (as that is semi-reversible).
And that the phone is most likely motherboard fried...which sucks and means I have to get a new phone.
Is there anyway to extract the information from internal storage? like documents and pdfs and possibly notes? Or is that option not available aswell?
I am thinking it is a hardware failure at this point. I would say to check the USB port as those to tend to get damaged sometimes, but you took it to a shop already and they should've noticed it if that were the case. These devices are getting old though, and I've been seeing more and more hw failures lately, so considering all that you said in the op, what the shop told you and what has been discussed here I am thinking that will be the most likely conclusion.
As for getting your data back, I kind of doubt it will be possible. If a shop can't get to it with special equipment and programs, you won't be able to do much more on your own. If its very important/valuable data, you could always try a professional data recovery service, but you're probably going to pay a good bit for that.
I am sorry that this happened and that I can't be any better help to you. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. And feel free to ask for a second opinion. Its always possible I could've overlooked something.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T999 using Tapatalk
Have you tried a fully charged different battery. You're USB port could be bad not allowing your battery to charge or connect to the computer. If this is the case, your battery didn't charge and went dead during the night and it also may not be getting power from the computer when plugged in. With another battery you might power up and retrieve your data.
S3 motherboard replacement
Hi guys,
I hope somebody here can be of any help. my i9300 (s3) got fried while charging last month. while i was planning to dispose the phone. due i cannot use it anymore and i bought one for good which currently in use, my co-worker just broke the screen of His phone too (s3), fortunately,he agreed to give me his and ask a friend of mine to replaced the motherboard on my s3 with the one from my co-workers phone. the replacement proceeded successfully but upon testing any sim card does not work. it display it has a coverage bar signal, but the notification on top says no sim card.
anybody who would share a thought about what will be the solution is much appreciated!
