Is it at all possible to install custom boot animations without having them already packaged in a ROM? I am tired of the blue flashing galaxy logo!
anybody???
I think there's a dev here that released a rom where he changed the boot, sound and ending splash animation with the one from i9000 galaxy s. You might want to check the thread and ask him how to make changes. Maybe once this info is out maybe it will get ball rolling to get custom boot and ending animations.
I saw an app on the market called boot animation changer or something to thateffect but I've never used it or know how for that matter

Its no secret really just some deleting, copying, and pasting from the i9000 rom to his. The problem i the boot animations are in sammy's special format.

Until we get a new rom/kernel that supports other, or standard, boot ani's we're stuck with boot animations that are in the Samsung proprietary format. If/when cm6 gets ported to the galaxy it'll be as easy as uploading any bootanimation.zip to the right place.
Heroic epic rom has custom boot animation support!
Sent from my Epic 4G
Heroic Epic is the best. Thank you for supporting custom boot animations Mammon88!!
yeah the kernel just needs to support looking for "bootanimation.zip" instead of sammys crap. once mammon throws down with his magic, everyone will get some love!
Yeah heroic epic rom works great and with root explorer all you have to do is get any bootanimation.zip that 800x480 on your sd card and then copy with root explorer to your /data/local folder and next time you boot you'll see your boot animation. You can get some boot animations from the evo thread!
ok so i just figured out how to root my epic POS last night and OBVIOUSLY lack the exp you guys have...i have cwm5.? and a one click root now...but i read somewhere that cwm makes you recovery screen green, but mine is still blue. i desperately want to switch around the theme and **** but need instruction...PLZ HELP! LOL if you guys could gtalk me thru it id appreciate [email protected]
If you have clockworkmod then, turn the phone off. When the phone is off, reboot holding down camera +vol down + power all at the same time. That will take you into the clockworkmod recovery.

Just check this out if you want boot animations
My thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1147111
Hi
Can anyone tell me how to make an update.zip file to change vodafones boot animation?
I would like to have the stock animation or a custum animation.
don't think this has been done yet as the images used on Samsung bootup are something like QMG images but there isn't a converter readily available yet
Wait, what? It's impossible even if we want to remove/change the boot? How come there are some threads explaining to change the boot sequence? And, I have a bunch of PNG Vodafone images on my phone.
PS: Why isn't there any response in all of the threads regarding changing/removing the boot sequence ? Newbie here.
Hi Pegart, i have no knowledge of custom boot animations but here is what i know.
Samsung Galaxy i9000 is very different from other android phones in the way the system is. The boot animation pngs you see are the shutdown ones and you could change it. With SGS tools (available free in market) you can change boot sounds. The startup is in qmg in which there is no way to change yet. over in the vibrant forums they are working on it and i think they have done it and you should ask in the vibrant forums how they done it which might help you
Hope this information helped you
Great, thanks for the answer. Much appreciated. Will check the Vibrant subforum.
First off, let me thank you for any help that I might get resolving this issue. Second, I have searched all over xda and cannot find this question about this particular phone, let alone an answer. Please be kind on me, I am not a complete noob, but I still have some learning to do as well. And forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place.
I have an At&t Samsung Galaxy S III running 4.1.1. It is rooted with custom recovery (TWRP) and stock rom. I have flashed Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only.zip, created a custom bootanimation.zip file, placed it in system/media and set the permissions with root explorer. The animation is working fine. I have also downloaded a sound.oog file that goes along with the boot animation. I renamed the sound.oog to PowerOn.oog, placed it in system/media/audio/ui, and set the permissions using root explorer and the sound plays just fine except there is a 3-4 second delay before the sound starts playing after the boot animation starts. This is driving me crazy. I know there was a similar issue with the Droid RAZR here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771089 . However, I have tried changing the desc.txt and that unfortunately didn't fix the problem on my phone. I cannot find any answer that has solved this issue. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I have the same issue with a Sprint Galaxy Note II running 4.3. stock rom with TWRP recover. I really don't want to flash a custom rom but I will if you think it will fix this frustrating problem. Thank you
I've done some more digging and found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633685 that the audio driver configuration and policy implementation is located in /etc/tinyucm.conf . Based on this information and my own observation of the boot process, I think the sound delay is just a natural function of the boot process itself as the drivers take a few seconds to load after the boot animation starts. I could be way wrong. If anyone has any information about driver load priority, or anything that could help me solve this, I would be grateful for your help. I am wondering if there is any way to fix this by modifying the tinyucm.conf file? Probably not for what I am attempting, but if it can be done I would really like to know. I'm going to try to pull the file and see if I can make any sense of it. For now I have added a custom splash screen before the boot animation and sound starts. Since I am using android 4.1, I modified the desc.txt file to allow the boot animation to play until it finishes so it wouldn't get interrupted by the completion of the boot process. It is a lazy work around, but it works for now. As always, thanks for your help.
I looked on YouTube on how to install custom animations and installed one myself but it didn't work when I did. Is it different for Samsung devices? Thanks!

Was it a zip animation? If so then it won't work.

Don't have a video but I do know the steps.
1) First get your animation file or files, for tab S it's qmg. Try to get one with the same resolution as your tablet, it would look better.
2) go into system/media and paste your animation files or file.
3) reboot and watch the magic
Not much more to it. If nothing pops out at reboot then it wasn't placed property. Just back up the original qmg files before u do this. Not sure if you can get boot loop because of this but sure hope not
Same presses for most Galaxy phones not sure about 5, I don't own it.
Gosh yeah I saw those qmg files. One was like a boot up and one was like a shutdown file. I don't know of I'm gonna risk it. I heard if it doesn't work you will either get the same boot up or just get a black one.
this will help you out

Is it possible to flash or install custom boot animations on this device?
I've an old cia boot animation that I had on my note 2 or 4 that I'd like to put on this phone. Also, I realize that it will most likely need to be modified to fit this screen. That is if it's even possible to customize the animation on this device. Also, the phone in question is the snapdragon variant.
Thanks!
As this is a system file, root will need to be granted... Not sure if that is available for the SD variant yet but I believe it may be for the Exynos...
Just remember, you will break Knox and , I believe this happened with the older models, you might only be able to charge to 80% battery...
Not sure if that is worth a different boot screen...

? Yeah I think I'd rather have a battery that charges to 100% rather than have a custom animation and 80% battery. It's still pretty early though so I'll sit back and watch the show.
Thanksâș
If you do so, you will trip Knox and void your warranty.

I am using a custom boot-animation on my Exynos Note 10+...
If you wish to know if it is possible for Snapdragon,
look for path /system/media/
you should see the word "bootsamsung" of type ".qmg" you mainly need the normal one with the loop and not the crypt, if that didn't work, then your device is using crypt, also shutdown.qmg, if not then shutdown_WH.qmg...
If you locate that, you can have your custom boot-animation, just make sure you backup the animation before replacing it and make sure permissions remain re-r--r-- (644) or you will have a boot loop...
good luck...

That I have done already, altered the up_parm of exynos for the bl warning and logo, I opened a thread... As for the boot animation, no prerequisites needed, just replaced the qmg with another maintaining the same permissions and it is done, custom animation applied for shutdown and booting... What I'm not sure about is snapdragon, what's on their side and whether a change is similar to exynos makes a difference on snappy or not, as for up_parm are all static images (exynos, didn't check snappy), no animations... However, I won't say I'm an expert, I just learned about the up_parm recently... ?

I'm looking for a wallpaper made of the Note 10+ boot animation. As long as I've had Galaxy Notes from it's inception I've had their logos as my wallpaper. Android Pie' code won't allow Adobe Photoshop Touch to function therefore eliminating my ability to edit wallpaper for my Note10+
Can you grab me a JPG from the boot animation of the.qmg files of the Note10+ if you have a rooted device please. I'd sincerely appreciate it!

I have a Note 10 Snapdragon version.
I replaced my .qmg boot/shutdown animations with ones I made (.qmg). They work great!
I used the Samsung Theme Designer to make the .qmgs

As far as I know QMG format is unreadable by any application, it's a one way direction process to create the bootanimation...
Exactly what do you mean by grab jpg of the bootanimation...?

In the past I was able to actually open the. qmg file proceed to a file folder containing all the.jpg's of the boot animation in order as a cartoon animation would be. There is grab the .jpg of my choice to use as my background. Of course my phone was rooted, which now isn't, as always up to the Note10+.
Was hoping I could keep up my OEM looking background "tradition" riding since I've been a Note owner.
Thanks for your time!
Happy Holidays everyone...
Could someone please help me remove the carrier boot animation. I tried deleting the qmg's in the system/media folder but to no luck. Even if i place my custom qmg's, both will play, first the carrier one than the custom one. I'm using the Exynos version.
