Galaxy S III Boot Animation Sound Delay - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

First off, let me thank you for any help that I might get resolving this issue. Second, I have searched all over xda and cannot find this question about this particular phone, let alone an answer. Please be kind on me, I am not a complete noob, but I still have some learning to do as well. And forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place.
I have an At&t Samsung Galaxy S III running 4.1.1. It is rooted with custom recovery (TWRP) and stock rom. I have flashed Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only.zip, created a custom bootanimation.zip file, placed it in system/media and set the permissions with root explorer. The animation is working fine. I have also downloaded a sound.oog file that goes along with the boot animation. I renamed the sound.oog to PowerOn.oog, placed it in system/media/audio/ui, and set the permissions using root explorer and the sound plays just fine except there is a 3-4 second delay before the sound starts playing after the boot animation starts. This is driving me crazy. I know there was a similar issue with the Droid RAZR here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771089 . However, I have tried changing the desc.txt and that unfortunately didn't fix the problem on my phone. I cannot find any answer that has solved this issue. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I have the same issue with a Sprint Galaxy Note II running 4.3. stock rom with TWRP recover. I really don't want to flash a custom rom but I will if you think it will fix this frustrating problem. Thank you

I've done some more digging and found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633685 that the audio driver configuration and policy implementation is located in /etc/tinyucm.conf . Based on this information and my own observation of the boot process, I think the sound delay is just a natural function of the boot process itself as the drivers take a few seconds to load after the boot animation starts. I could be way wrong. If anyone has any information about driver load priority, or anything that could help me solve this, I would be grateful for your help. I am wondering if there is any way to fix this by modifying the tinyucm.conf file? Probably not for what I am attempting, but if it can be done I would really like to know. I'm going to try to pull the file and see if I can make any sense of it. For now I have added a custom splash screen before the boot animation and sound starts. Since I am using android 4.1, I modified the desc.txt file to allow the boot animation to play until it finishes so it wouldn't get interrupted by the completion of the boot process. It is a lazy work around, but it works for now. As always, thanks for your help.

Boot animations?

I'm trying to change the animation on my AT&T branded Play. All I can get is the stock Android blue/green letters for a boot screen, which is the default android system boot screen. While this is a step in a much better direction than the crappy AT&T screen, I want a PSX or PSP boot animation on there. I've tried using a root file explorer to move it to system/media where it seems the original is found. Renaming the original so it won't use it and renaming my desired screen to bootanimation.zip. This yields only the stock Android animation though.
Does it need a special boot animation file to work? I can't believe I couldn't find anything on this through a search, either I didn't look hard enough or it doesn't exist I guess.
Any help is appreciated.
I used to flash them on my EVO but now I use Absolute System Root Tools to set the boot animation, because I used Zergrush and have a locked bootloader. I assume you have root access since you are using Root Explorer... I'm not sure how to set one with the method you're trying, but Absolute worked just fine for setting the Nexus S animation... get it... NeXus.. Xperia... lol. Good luck!

I don't know if AT&T has fiddled with your phone so it sets the boot animation with another method somehow. It should be as simple as you have done. Just replacing "bootanimation.zip" in /system/media/ with the one you download, assuming it is created correctly. I have changed mine this way to a Super Mario bootanimation and it works fine.
Also try Absolute System Root Tools as previous poster said. You can't set your own bootanimation with it though as far as I know. Just a big list to chose from.
nice one thanks , works on rooted play

Make sure when you .zip up your bootanimation. You do it with no compression. Otherwise it won't work.

You will have to go to system/customize/CID with a root explorer and open default.xml in an editor. Depending where you have the sound file you want to use (I suggest in data/local if you're going to use my example) you will edit the line
<BootAnimation animation="/data/local/Sprint_bootanimation.zip" audio="/data/local/yoursoundfilename.mp3" />
The line may vary depending on the ROM you're using but if you just copy this and put your boot animation and sound file in that location, it should work. Hope this helps
I'm currently using cm 7 so what do I do. I can get animation bit can't get boot. Sound

I'm running 7.2. The file default.xml does not exist at system/customize/CID. I'm unable to locate this file at all. Do I make a new one?

[Q] Change boot animation on roalex ICS for Bravo

Hi all,
I looked and tried for a while now, but I'm not able to change my boot animation on the COS ICS by roalex. A bootanimation.zip stored in system/media and/or in data/local doesn't work for me. I'm shure it changed in general in ICS. Can anybody help me please to find a way to change my boot animation?
Some ICS threads recommend to store in system/customize/resource, but I don't have a customize file.
For all changes I use root explorer.
Thanks and have a nice day!
What do you mean with "does not work"? Is any bootanimation shown or do you just get a black screen? Did you make your named it correctly and really replaced the old bootanimation?
Thanks for your answer
The bootscreen in general works. In settings I can enable and disable boot animation. When I enable boot, then the old school android boot animation is showed. I think this is maybe a fallback mode, when there is no bootanimation.zip. But I don't know.
When I look into /system/media and /data/local after a fresh installation, then there is no bootanimation.zip. Maybe the builder of this ROM has diasabled custom boot images to speed up the device (it is indeed very fast).
And because he has disabled boot animation per default, I'm not able to set up my own.
It's not the first time I created my own animation, so I'm shure it works at least in gingerbread.
My new question should be now, how to enable bootanimation in this special case, when it is disabled by default?
I suggest, that this is no big deal, when this doesn't work on this rom. I can live without a nice boot animation. It's more for my general comprehension, how android is working.

I guess you mean folder, not file, don't you?
Yes, indeed. Sorry.
Tried to create folderpath (/customize/resource) yourself and then move the bootnanimation.zip there?
BEFORE TRYING, MAKE A NANDROID-BACKUP!!!
Ok it didn't work for me. I'm a backup profi now, but nothing seems to work.
It's ok for me, I'll close this thread now.
Gracias!
It works flawless on my HTC Desire with this ROM.

I know the issue......install disk usage and tell me size of your system partition free space, then tell the size of bootanimation.....it always happens when space not enough.....Android tries to write your file, and if no space, it just shows.that file is written.....please check free space and tell.....

Boot animation sound, disable

Good day to all.
This is my very first post in this great community. :highfive:
Although I am no a developper, I do wish to start helping out while studying development sufficiently so as to really make a difference.
So here it goes.
-----------------------------
I was once made uneasy while at work and rebooting my phone after initial ROM flash first boot, and being victim of dirty reprimands from my colleagues with the loud boot animation sound.
I then put my phone to vibrate before reboot and was greeted with a simple vibrate, soundless boot.
I tried again, this time, with sound on before boot, and the boot animation sound was reenabled. Simple.
-----------------------------
This is to help someone on this post. I am no sure it would work on any ROM, but I do not see why not.
Perhaps some of you could reply for confirmation.
Best regards to all.

Here buddy
Renaming /system/media/bootanimation.zip gets rid of the default i747's animation/ or what is included with the rom
• Renaming /system/media/audio/notifications(whatever the sound is) is the only way to get rid of the boot up sound.
Hope i helped

dude thank you stock rooted here.. and it worked
on stock rooted rom.. I did the following..
system/media bootsamsung.qmg = rename ex. bootsamsung.qmg.ori hated the bright white att logo... not sure which one it was so i did it on both files..
system/media bootsamsungloop.qmg = rename .ori
system/media/audio/ui poweron.ogg = rename .ori
then I started making my own stock rooted and added this..
found one from another rom, cant remember which, I used there bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg without the bright white att logo.. at night in bed this was very annoying..
and renaming the bootsound found above..
Hey guys.
Thanks much for your input. My goal was to get more data on the subject compiled here from other users, and to let itself develop.
It seems to move forward. Kewl!

[Q] Boot Animation not shown up on deodexed KK SM-T211, How to Fix It?

Hi, I flashed the Deodexed Stock Kitkat ROM for SM-T211 to my device, which provided by HerroYou...
The rom runs well and smooth, hereby I should thank him for this.
Only one thing I feel missing, is the Samsung boot animation is not shown up during start up, but the shutdown animation is shown up ok.
I checked on the systemroot/system/media folder, the both bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg file are there, but just somehow it is not shown up during start up.
Before this, I had try "Dirty Flash" but it can't fix it. Maybe I'm not doing it correctly?? (I'm not really a developer but a new guy ) Even I tried to replace the bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg also didn't work.
Anyway, I would like to bring back the boot animation to my device, anybody could help me?
Thanks in advanced.
Hi there! Nobody out here could help? [emoji6]
