I just got one . its nice mobile camera is v good , finger print , size , ability to custom ROMs because stock ROM is very primitive . nexus 5x has a different taste in shape and usage. I bought it because I felt boring from Samsung and it's software. But I advice you to watch some YouTube videos to decide by your self if you are going to like or not, and to see in depth Nexus details. Generally Samsung screen is a little better and mobile structure is more stronger. Try to try Nexus 5x In some showroom or with a friend. If you liked it and matched your taste go ahead and buy it . no big problems in Nexus 5x

tomorow will arrive samsung don`t make updates and my s4 its 3 years old, old baterry , no more drivers for cm13, du, resurection a lot of bugs and i`m pice off ! i will never buy a samsung
I came from an S5 and even from that it was worth getting the 5X. At first no, cause of software issues but over time it's gotten much better. And even now, I'm running Android N Beta and it's the best it's run.

You made a good choice. The Nexus 5X is one of my top 5 favorite phones ever. Mainly because of no Touchwiz, Sense, etc... If you choose to unlock it's bootloader, I would recommend switching to Android N ASAP. Anyway, have fun! ????
Go for it don't think about it the device is really cheap and has tones of development
I had the s4 as well, although 5x is also plastic, it feels much much more premium than the s4 and it also feels sturdier (my s4 broke twice in my pocket while sitting, was lucky warranty covered repairs). The camera is awesome, though video is shaky, you can easily enable eis though if you're rooted which fixes it.
The software is also faster and not so bloated, it will definitely feel like a big upgrade.
I swore never to buy samsung phones after the s4 though so maybe my opinion is biased.

I am about to get a new phone in about 3 months time , and i just can't decide what phone to get! i have been stalking the android development section of xda forums for a long time now ( i lost my android phone 3 months ago and my dad promised to get me a new one after my final exam )
i came up with 3 phones that catches my eye mainly , Nexus and One S
i really love MIUI and rooting etc so i initially thought of the Nexus but then the One S showed up and it's benchmark really blew the Nexus off the water pretty hard and it boast a better camera , faster camera capture and somewhat better built quality , but then again hearing from the reviews of Nexus it seems like a good phone for people that loved rooting etc . something which i love and JB is said to bring a noticeable but it seemed like a minor update to me ( i seen it only on youtube though ) and i am thinking of updating my new phone to MIUI since it looks so good in the videos ...
i actually made up my mind last week which i planned to get the One S but after watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ti08g_6Bj4&feature=plcp it made me think about the Nexus again he quoted that software over hardware which makes sense
so in a nutshell
One S - Better camera , much more powerful Krait processor , can record and take pictures simultaneously , better built quality , beats audio(?) Sense UI ( oh and gsmarena seemed to adore this device ! ) , Blue tooth 4.0 over 3.0, better battery (?) i heard nexu's battery is abysmal , slimmer , lighter
Nexus -A more unique design which i loved , higher screen resolution , bigger screen , official from google which means future proofed , cheaper ,somewhat better software(?) , more root / android development friendly(?)( i heard from the internet at least )
What i like -Video watching , Rooting!! , customizing and music
as i made a comparison for myself i can clearly see One S destroying the nexus so should i get the nexus ?
One s or x? If s then hell no, get the nexus. Also I personally used the one x on atat and I can say that it is laggy. Very laggy. Scrolling through lists, scrolling on the home screen, everything is far laggier than the nexus. Maybe if you put on aokp or cm9/10 on it then it may not be so laggy, idk. But unless you really need a better camera(which is still trash compared to real cameras) then go with the nexus.
Also, when you say three months, do you mean from now or did that already pass. New phones come out all the time, wait for a good one to come out.

Asking it in gnex forum is not smart, I think nexus is better: from google, not bloated

I would say make your decision based on what is important to you:
for example:
i choose the nexus, becus..
1. Lot of custom ROMs,easy hacking.
2. Quick software updates from google.
3. Decent camera and screen size at least > 4 inches. Oh and the screen quality as well.

Well this might sound a little odd but my old android phone ( xperia x8 ) got hard bricked about 5months ago ( i say stolen cause i am still ashamed of what i did ad i don't really like to talk about it ..it's a rookie's mistake ) but i learnt a thing or two from those months , i borrowed my sister samsung galaxy ace and helped her to root / change a rom for her phone and after helping her change her rom a few times i somewhat got hooked but sadly it's not my phone afterall ( my sister loved the roms but she relied on me to do it for me ) and my dad promised to get a phone for me after my exams but the price must not to too expensive , the Nexus is RM1750 ( 550 USD ) which is pretty okay while one S is RM1838 ( 600usd ) oh and i meant one S since it's krait processor is pretty beast ...benchmark wise at least

Exactly my point. Also almost all your points about the one s are wrong. The build quality is open ionized, the processor is obviously better than the s because it doesn't lag like crazy, the nexus does have beats, it can take pictures while recording, and I have never had a problem with the nexus battery yet and on top of that the extended battery makes barely any difference if any at all to the size of the device.
But because a new nexus is coming in 4 months or so, just wait. Trust me. The new nexus will surely make this one feel like a piece of ****. Lol its going to be hard to not want the device. I saved up money for months to get this nexus. No car , doing sucky jobs like mowing lawns and what not. I treasure this thing with my life.

As someone who just (finally) put in an order for the gnexus, I would vote for it over anything, simply because of the software, and the guaranteed support for a long time to come.
I also hear the One S has a pretty iffy screen, but I haven't seen it myself so I wouldn't swear to it.
i have pretty tight on the wallet so i am wanting to safe as much as i can ( dont wanna burden my dad ) but still despite the nexus abysmal performance in benchmark test
and batetry test ...how is it really is real life ?
http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-ga...y-tested-results-come-out-disappointing-test/
Also...I think the One S is now shipping with the older S3 processors clocked at a higher speed due to S4 shortages.
Wait for the next Nexus phone. It may well use the same quad chip as the Nexus 7 with DDR3 ram!!
Of course the coming new nexus if u wanna be the first ones using the latest version of android.

I have a GNex (GSM) and my wife has the One S (T-Mobile). The GNex has a bigger screen (taller and wider). The One S has a metal body which looks nice but is VERY slippery. She had it for a week before it slipped out of her hand and dropped it. Now it doesnt look so nice... Normal daily performance wise Id say they are comparable. My wife is already asking when she will get upgraded to Jelly Bean or if there is a JB Rom for her phone (there is not a daily driver type one yet). She really likes Google Now. The GNex w/ JB is very fast and smooth.
The camera on the One S is better. I would say the battery life is about the same. The CDMA/LTE Nexus has bad battery life but the GSM (which I have) is fairly good.
If you have no phone and need one now Id recommend the GNex. If you can wait a few months and dont mind spending more $ then get the new Nexus when it comes out in the fall/winter/whenever it comes out.
Nexus always gets updated! Last time I checked One X is running 4.0.4 while GNex is already updated to 4.1.1
Lol you list beats and sense ui as benefits??

abysmal performance in benchmarks? are you serious?
also who takes that stuff seriously anyway
GNex >> One S
Plus, the Galaxy Nexus is pretty near unbrickable
I think gnex, because its pure Google, has enough memory, big screen (4.67 inch) curved design, nice camera with live effects, face unlock (nice to have), easy rooting and install of custom ROMs, front camera with decent MPs, no hardware buttons, but on screen, high resolution.
That's why I have had the one series in my hands, but stock they are crappy, with aosp/aokp ROM they are pretty much the same as gnex, but since nexus is cheaper, I would go for that
Hope to informed you enough
Edit: Galaxy nexus his audio is great with the stock ecualiser (how do you spell it :s haha,,lol)

I should be selling my iPhone tomorrow (coming back from the dark side) and I plan on buying a used Galaxy Nexus because it seems to have tons of support and decent specs for the money I'm willing to spend. And I went completely crazy without an Android device and grew to hate my iPhone after switching from an S2. I just miss flashing ROMs every half hour.
Anyway, I just wanna know how it's holding up for everyone else. Is it becoming outdated yet? Losing support? Does it wear out quickly (dead pixels, broken buttons, etc.)? Or do people still love it as their daily driver?
Just curious because it's pretty much this or the S2. So please, let me know.

The GNex certainly is good, but I wouldn't say its the best decision to buy it now, since quad core phones are becoming quite ubiquitous you might wanna wait for the next Nexus or go for the Nexus 4 just to be future proof and have more muscle.

Haha. Thanks. And I get your point. But you have to keep in mind that I'm a 16 year old with no contract. Lol. I just cant afford the latest and greatest, so while I keep up with smartphones (technology in general), I have to settle for ports instead the phones themselves.
Although I was considering the EVO 4G LTE (more muscle), but I figured I'd settle for the support and looks of the Nexus just because i think I'd be more satisfied.
But thanks to everyone! Looks like I'm getting the Nexus. Lol.

I have to say that S6 is a great phone, but: I hate Touchwiz and physical home button. As there's no way to get rid of the Touchwiz, I thought of buying a Nexus 5X.
What do you suggest?
No. You would lose about practically everything, except software, camera and fingerprint sensor. Maybe, S6->N6P would be a better choice.
Nexus⁴ on Tapatalk.
I bought a 5x around a month ago, switching from an s6. Although the hardware is a downgrade, I have to say the overall experience is way better. I love the freedom I get with a Nexus, and I'll never be able to get that with anything else on Verizon.

I've switched from s6 edge to n5x, the best choice I've ever made. If you don't care about premium material, don't even think about it.

dude hell yes, trust me. if you're like me and values the overall experience over just bland specs, you're going to be very happy with the switch.
Galaxy S6 had really ****ty software, memory management bugs, and crappy battery. Yes it looks nice with its all glass body but to me that was actually a minus because i was so scared to break it. Nexus 5x is better in every sense except maybe the custom samsung chip and the camera. And the pure software experience oh man this is were nexus 5x and even a nexus 5 has an edge over any samsung phone. Pure stock android is infinitely better than touchwiz in EVERY way. So much cleaner and faster. Bro buy an nexus 5x and you will never look back.

Launchers do not eliminate touchwiz unfortunately, only the launcher aspect of it. I switched s6-->N5X and don't regret it the slightest. Only regret is that I didn't give the moto x pure a shot as I liked my 2013 and 2014 moto x quite a bit
I also made the switch from the S6E to the 5X and couldn't be happier. The 5X is just a more enjoyable experience, it doesn't heat up like the S6E did, the animations are smoother, endless runners like Sonic Boom 2 don't drop frames like it did with the S6E and the list goes on. Stock Android is where it's at.

I'm loving my 5X... I use Android on my job and in my old S6 the battery sucks. I charged it 3 times per day..every single day. With the nexus I can finish a day of work...
And after all the nexus experience Is better... When u are tired about the UI u can flash a different ROM...

You won't be disappointed by switching from the Galaxy S6 to the Nexus 5X. Mostly for the exact reasons you mentioned, no TouchWiz and no outdated physical navigation buttons. The battery life of the Nexus 5X is better but it isn't very good either. Although no phone has what I would call "good" battery life anyways.

Replacing the TouchWiz launcher would be an improvement but it doesn't totally remove TouchWiz. TouchWiz goes way deeper than the launcher or even just the UI. Plus, installing a different launcher doesn't remove the TouchWiz launcher which I think still ends up running in the background so you may end up having the TouchWiz launcher still using some resources as well as the possibility that the new launcher doesn't preform very well(like Go Launcher and Nova Launcher).
Thanks guys, the pros are just the motives I would switch over to N5X...
But now I'm even divided between 5X and Moto X Force...

You're not a Samsung fan? Lol. Might want to edit that post then. Haha.
Well, Touchwiz is not just launcher. It's a heavy Android modification that makes many mods incompatible. And the lack of Exynos source code not allows custom AOSP roms...
Gonna go over from a S6 to 5x in a couple of days when my phone arrives. S6 only beats the 5x in materials and camera, a 2gb ram will still be better than the 3gb in S6 with their ****ty ram management implementation that has been present since launch and no updates or even an acknowledgement forthcoming for it. Terrible for a flagship honestly.
I'm never gonna give samsung a chance again. S6 was my 1st samsung phone actually, their high prices for cheap materials and slow updates was what kept me back then, now they lost a customer for good. But their camera and the availability of various accessories is great although its not a priority for me.
Please tell me good things and bad things about this phone i heard that have a lot of lag and its slow.please help me to choose nexus 5x or galaxy s6

Nope to both of those criticism's.
Bad points :
Buttons feel very plasticky. Fine with a case though.
Speaker is only mono and not a great mono.
Good points:
Great screen.
Great Camera.
Great software support (end of 2017 for google updates)
Easily bootloader unlocked.
Runs well.
Good battery.
I got my Nexus 5X just a week ago and it's my first stock android experience and I have to tell you - it's f*cking awesome! Nice and smooth, without any hickups. There were some lag issues due to encryption in the first months after release, but they were fixed and I haven't experience any problems. Especially if you have to compere it to a bloated Samsung device, I'd say go Nexus and never turn back!

My wife has a Galaxy S6 and I have the 5X. I don't see any real performance difference between the two phones at all. Battery life is similar on the two phones and the cameras are pretty close (I prefer the 5X) but the build on the S6 is more attractive. Key factor for me, though, is the pure Android with timely updates on the 5X - much, much better than the Samsung! Considering that it is going to be supported for longer than the S6, I would go for the 5X.
Tnx guys

Hello everyone,
I am really torn between the Mate S and the Nexus 5x. The mate S has a beautiful design but almost no rom support ( I don't even know if you can root it lol.) The nexus however is, as tradition dictated, a dream when it comes to roms etc. I am not going to root for at least a year ( warranty n stuff, and yes I know that you can reverse it but my LG G3 got rejected even after I've got it back to original so I am not taking any chances.)
Btw both phones will cost me 300 euros.
Tyvm in advance.

The plastic is reaaally putting me off tho. After the G3 I really want something more premium tbh.
If you wanna deal with Huawei's sh*tty EIUI skin or whatever, then go for the Mate. But there's literally no reason at all to go for that phone when the 5X does EVERYTHING so much better. And you'll have the latest Android updates and an actual developer community. Kind of a no-brainer, if you ask me.

Support for 5x is nowhere near the level of 5, 6 and 6p. 5x is like an orphan child.
But still it is better than Mate S. Get Nexus 6p for real developer support.

You will regret if you buy android phone from Huawei..... The only thing I prefer android over IOS because IF i can get fast software update. that all...... Huawei software update will slower than stock or pure android. Also what if you have the defectives unit, i think you dont want to deal with huawei company, its worst customer services ever. Nexus 5X build by LG, is not bad company at all, quality control much better than another other Chinese brand.
Also, This is Nexus 5x, you will get longer tearm support by XDA, If you dont like the plastic back cover, you can buy skin and apply on it I owned Nexus 5x, if something wrong, I can do the repair by myself, Its very easy to repair on Nexus 5x (and it cheap $200 for 32 GB)
