The camera is struggling to focus, I have to tap the screen to focus.

If you look at the comments and answers on the "HTC Camera" app in play store you see HTC said they are releasing a software update soon that is supposed to fix this issue.
Fingers crossed ...

they already push update for USA unlocked devices 1.5 and ppl said problem has been resolved but for MEA still 1.3 !!!

In video or camera mode? I am having issues holding focus in video.

Same here in video have to tap to focus then it loses focus and struggles to adjust

Same issue here. I am on 1.3 and updated camera app (with cleaned cash).
Is software version 1.3 in Europe and middle east is the same like 1.5 ?
Note: 1.3 is only 85 MB 1.4 is about 400 MB.
Should we wait 1.5 for Europe and Middle East?

Can someone confirm that this could not be a hardware issue and I just need to wait the update (1.5).

do u have any idea about 1.5 update for MENA ?

I have the same problem too! HTC 10 unlocked, ATT, using HTC software number 1.53.617.5.
It's almost as if the focus is fixed at a short distance, and everything else is blurry. On a perfectly well-lit day outdoors, the landscape looks all blurry (like how my grandpa would see the world without his glasses!)
This is a terribly disappointing, and I've been on call with them for the last 3 days trying to get a replacement.
Finally the "escalation" department calls me, and here's the list of problems: 1) They do not have replacement units readily available, and it'll be a long wait to get one. What's more they'll still put a full holding charge on my credit card. They recommend option (2) below...
2) They tell me that it's quicker to return the faulty phone, refund the money, and order a new one from the store. Well the store is out of "Carbon Gray" which I currently have, but fine I'll be OK with the silver version too. There's an issue here, I had ordered the HTC10 with the $100 promo off (one of the first people to order right after launch) and of course the promo-code is no longer valid. So I'll have to spend $100 more to get a replacement which has a working camera!! And in the two weeks it takes to send in my faulty phone, place a new order and get it shipped, they expect me to have a spare phone around!
WTF HTC, GET YOUR **** TOGETHER! As one of the first loyal customers, send the damn replacement unit first, and I'll be happy to return the original right after I receive it. I shouldn't be expected to spend $100 more for a faulty phone that you sent in the first place!

I confirm this issue of all HTC 10, auto focus in video mode is disabled., have to touch the screen to focus.
I will send a report to my contact in HTC.

M. Bostan
I have the same problem too! How should I resolve this issue? Please help me

Clean the auto focus and it will work

Hi
I have had an HTC 10 stock phone for about 4 months now and in the last month or so the camera autofocus has stopped working for both photos (very noticeable when wanting distance photos which come out blurry) and video. I think this may be update related, but can't be sure. My phone is currently software version 1.95.401.4 (Android 6.0.1).
Anyway I have accidentally found a temporary workaround. If I press and hold down the volume key to put the phone into 'Alarms only' mode the autofocus works!! This doesn't appear to fix the problem long term, but at least allows the taking of a decent photo when required.
If anyone knows why this should be and can offer a permanent fix I would be grateful.

Front Facing Camera Distortion

Hello everyone,
I got my Nokia Lumia 900 yesterday and have been very pleased with it except for the purple screen/hue issue which I am expecting to be fixed when the update is pushed by Rogers/Nokia.
Another issue I discovered today is that when running the front facing camera sometimes, I see colored distortion lines (pink, purple, lime). This happens only sometimes and not always.
I read on another thread over at Nokia Discussions that a guy had this problem and got the phone replaced.
Please let me know if you've seen this issue before and if there is anything to be done rather than requesting a replacement.
Thank you all!

[Q] Primary Camera flash greenish tint problem

Hey,
I just purchased a HTC Desire 820 dual sim about 3 days back, and on clicking pictures with flash on from the primary 13MP camera, an evident greenish tint is noticed.
Is anyone else having the same problem, or should I opt for replacement? Is it a hardware or software problem?
Attaching samples.
Please help ASAP. Thanks!
same problem here with me
I have exactly the same problem, however i requested the new replacement model from the retail online site. It's a software glitch, because playing with the setting like using florescent option it solves, so it is complete software issue, but in a replacement warranty scenario i am asking for the replacement, lets c what happens next..

I have opted for a replacement myself, but I doubt that will solve the problem. It is not a small issue, I don't know if I should persist with the device. Will HTC rectify it? Was it there before the software update too?
Urgent!
Guys please test on your own devices and post the results.
Do surely tell us

Same greenish tint issue
Guys,
This might sound funny to you that i first purchased this device on 25th Jan 2015 and there were no greenish tint issues in that phone but it was automatically rebooting itself when i tried to click pics with the FLASH ON. This didn't happen when I purchased the device, happened at a later stage (after a day). So I went up to HTC and asked for the repair of the device (I knew i'll get the DOA bcoz it was a faulty piece) and I got the DOA after they tested it.
Got the replacement and I'm seeing this issue on my phone. Searched around the forum to find out that I'm not the only one facing this issue.
I first thought that it would be a hardware issue but its not guys, its a software issue. Change the settings to "Flourescent" and the greenish tint disappears, though you'll see a light blue effect on it.
Lets just hope HTC releases an update for this.

Not software, hardware. It was there on my unit even before the software update. It's there only on a specific batch I guess. I returned it. Can't tolerate the faulty piece.

Okay, As I suspected that it would be a SOFTWARE ISSUE and NOT a hardware issue was TRUE.
Today I went to the HTC Repair Center and opted for the issue to get fixed. One of its representatives pointed it to be software issue.
They took my phone and FIXED it and now the camera works perfectly fine with FLASH ON.
Hope this helps other guys out there.

Autofocus Issue

Anyone having issues with their autofocus? Mine seems completely busted - not sure if it is just a hardware defect or something that has popped up through repeated flashing. Camera was great out of the box, but over the past month, I've had several issues with AF getting a clear lock on something and recently regardless of being on stock OOS (3.1.2, 3.2.4, 3.5.2, etc.) or one of the many roms hosted here my screen jumps back and forth, zooms in and out and fails to get a proper lock. Frustrating as can be - debating switching away from OP3 given the camera has become useless - any recommendations or anyone sharing this issue?
I haven't experienced any focus issues yet, but if the problem is identical regardless of the software driving it, I'd say there is something hardware-related at fault. Are you only using stock camera apps, or have you tried 3rd party camera apps and get the same thing?

Same across the board. Tried going back to 3.1.x versions, up to 3.5.2 CB, over to the CM and AOSP-roms in the hopes something would stick but it's terrible all around. Went as far as doing complete wipe and factory reset to potentially clear out any profiles stored on internal memory but still having issues. Took me 4 minutes today to take picture of grocery list for my wife - would not focus on text regardless of how close/far I moved the paper. Have session with 'remote tech support' for OP3 on Wednesday as if that's going to do anything...

Once they identified it as autofocus they didn't try to say it was software, they replaced no problem?
He told that in the beginning.I told him I wiped dalvik cache and stuff. He didn't believe it was a hardware issue,He then formatted the phone....The result was same! He ordered the camera on Thursday...I got the phone on next Saturday The camera has to come all the way from China!
Actually many people are facing this issue..
So.... just go the OS 4.5 and autofocus issue still not fixed..... How come they don't even answer when the issue is reported by so many people...
It occurred suddenly from one day to the next...
I had same issue. Auto focus progressively got worse. Issue was camera OIS.
Replaced the camera myself and back to normal. Cost about £15 for camera and tools and takes about 30 minutes to replace.
i'm not happy with my device anymore thanks to this issue, oneplus don't want to respond because they know that this is a hardware bug, i am not going to buy any other chinese trash in my life again, i miss my iphone ....

So...
After trying many things (3rd part apps, hoped for a fix with 4.5.0 or 4.5.1 OS updates but nothing, a hard reset, then a factory reset) I hoped that OP Service center would repair the phone that became unusable due to blurriness.... It was sent to Arvato service team in Czech Republic (I am in Sweden).
And then after a few days I learned about this "no partial repair" policy... They will fix the autofocus (no problem, under warranty) without saying what the issue is because.... my OP3 has a small crack on a corner of the screen and it enough for the Arvato service team to say that the screen needs to be replaced (not under warranty) because they don't do partial repair...
Even if the crack has nothing to do with the issue and repairing the screen is totally irrelevant in the matter, I am forced to pay these 110 EUR to get my phone back with a functional autofocus... (Option 2 is to pay 50 EUR to get it back not repaired and Option 3: Scrap the phone for free :cyclops: )
After doing some quick search I found out that this way of doing is common in the branch.... If they all do it, I guess it's not illegal.... quite unbelievable how the customers are handled... You learn everyday, isn't it?

Camera not focusing

Hey,
Anyone had or got issues with the rear camera not focusing?
It takes ages to focus and I mean 3+ minutes.
It won't do it when I tap on the screen either.
Using OOS or a custom rom?
I have the same issue also. Apparently it's a known hardware issue Contact OP for RMA
I'm using FreedomOS
i have the same issue OOS latest Beta.
Install the latest OOS stable and if it doesn't work, contact Oneplus and explain the problem. If it's a hardware problem they have to fix it (if you still have warranty).
****, I just noticed my camera has problems to start focusing. The whole picture strangely waves durning focusing. But it will focus after a couple of seconds.
I had this problem, and it nearly drove me to getting a new phone. It followed me through OS updates and many different ROMs. Not much help on the threads here, either.
My problem was that the camera would constantly try to refocus, and would never focus on the foreground...things in the background were clear, but nothing in the foreground. Videos were horrible, constant refocusing and blurring. Didn't work in 3rd party apps like check deposit on my bank app, Snapchat, etc.
I found a YouTube video of a hardware repair that seemed ridiculous, but it actually fixed the issue for me. It's not too hard to do if you don't want to wait for an RMA from OnePlus...but it literally involved sticking a staple between a magnet in the phone and the camera module. If you don't feel comfortable opening your phone up, I wouldn't attempt it, but my camera has been working perfect since I did this redneck fix.
here's a link to the video. Watch it first before trying, and if it seems like it's too much, you may have to do an RMA.
I didn't want to believe it was a hardware issues either, but this honestly did fix it for me.
Good luck!
Has anyone else tried @Redjax workaround. I'm going crazy. My camera focus problems are getting worse.
Also, has anyone of you tried a camera replacement. If so, which one, share the link.
I'm thinking on trying the staple mod first before ordering a replacement.

I was facing the same issue from couple of months. It started after a system update, don't remember the version tough.
So visited the service center today, the people there already had info about this issue. They replaced the camera module free of cost, even after my phone warranty is over! OnePlus knew the problem and they are fixing it for free.
I got my OP3 serviced at Pune, India.

One Plus 3 Rear camera wont focus!

The rear camera on my one plus 3 sudedenly stopped focussing
It worked great but about a week back, it suddenly went bad. I've tried using manual focus but that doesn't work either.
It only works at times when I vigously shake it and then it goes bad again
Has anyone encountered this issue? Any fixes?
There are no proper service centres where I live.

Probably a result of the camera module becoming loose due to a fall (not necessarily recent). Search on XDA for this issue. I remember reading about atleast a couple of threads/posts about having solved this issue. You will have to open the back of the phone, locate the camera module and fix it. Or order a new module and replace the old one. Costwise it is not too high.
Replace your camera - this is ONLY permanent fix.
I done it on my OP3T and it works again.
Had exactly the same issue (resolved temporarily after vigorous shaking - it's a known issue and quite common) last year with my OnePlus 3. TL;DR: Definitely contact OnePlus and they'll replace the camera module for free assuming no other physical or water damage. I have in the past had mediocre experiences with OnePlus support, so was frankly astonished at the way and speed in which they handled this. Should have a year or two of life left in the phone now and certainly a new sense of brand loyalty for future purchases.
As for my experience:
- Problems started in around February.
- Finally contacted OnePlus support via official chat in late November, was asked to factory reset to see if that helped. Didn't help.
- (25/11) They fast tracked my RMA request, even though out of warranty.
- (27/11) Phone sent by courier from UK to Poland for repair (as with you, no service centres here)
- (28/11) Device repaired
- (29/11) Phone sent back to me
- (02/12) Phone received a week after being sent and camera working perfectly. Total cost to me £0.
Side note: Definitely get a Google Camera mod once your phone is fixed if you don't already have one. Breathes a new lease of life into the camera with some software smarts. I use this one: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog849/ as recommended by the XDA Google Camera Port Hub.

They replaced it for free as it was a manufacturing defect even though warranty was over.
One year ago my oneplus 3 experienced a hard time when rear camera focusing. I was in china, so I called oneplus support and the guy one the phone told me that i can mail my phone to the services center in beijing and then they replace a new rear camera for free(even though the warranty are expired).
Replace the rear camera may be the only fix. Perhaps you can call the services number on oneplus website and ask for help
