I'm getting a wakelock on google services. I unchecked google backup and none of my accounts are stuck syncing. Any ideas? Phone literally will not sleep. I tried to wipe cache but looks like there is no option for wiping cache in the recovery console?

Yeah, me too. Google's wakelocks keep my phone awake a lot of time.

You guys seeing higher than expected GPS time for Google services too? I had 20 minutes of GPS time for Google services today and the phone was still most of the day.
Sent from my HTC6545LVW using Tapatalk
On my end only 7 minutes of GPS but 5.5 hours of wakelock. This is after cache clear on the app but not data clear. I don't know what that all impacts

My Google play services likes to use my GPS a lot but it doesn't give me insane wakelocks.
The lockscreen widget is what's causing the high GPS usage I believe.

I currently have a wake lock as well I have no idea what's causing it and I'm desperate to find out because it is constant one solid line. This afternoon I did a factory restore on my phone and was still getting the problem. I haven't modified my device in any way I have the unlocked version on T-Mobile and the wake lock is even present while in airplane mode I just don't get it.
I was so desperate to figure this out that I'm even willing to compensate someone financially if they can help me get to the root of the problem
Same here.

My wakelocks from Google services stopped after I turned off the GPS but kept location on "battery save" mode. I just turn it on when I need it (which is only good maps for navigation)

Mine isn't working either. (using T-mobile M8) I wonder if it has something to do with TV providers being selected, I chose over the air maybe it cant access that data correctly (although it does come up with the most extensive list of over the air channels I have seen for my area some of which I've never even gotten with my 8 rooftop)
It sucks that you cant set up the remote without finishing this setup.
EDIT:
Just tried it with time warner setup and TV provider not listed it still wont work.
Same error here on TMobile M8 and Viper Rom

Getting the same error on my wife's Verizon One M8. I was able to set mine up just fine, same type of phone, just a couple of hours before she tried hers.

I set it up the night that I got it just fine. T-Mobile M8 running Viper Rom. Best bet would be to go into Settings>Apps> and clear out the data for the TV app, then try again? If not then idk
I tried everything! Clear out app data. Uninstalled update. Restarted the phone. Etc. Nothing seems to work. The weirdest part is that I was able to do it just a couple hours before she tried. Doesn't make any sense!

You also found more TV apps in Play Store.
I have searched a few times for a resolution to this problem, but have been unable to find one that works. I have noticed that when the media server shows up under my battery stats screen I usually have an update waiting on play store.
Is there any way play store could be the cause?
In other posts I see people complaining of 10-20% battery consumption. Mine has hit up to ~70% battery consumption.

Turn your data off when you're not using it. But most likely it's an app causing a wakelock.

Ok this may be a dead question, but something I would like to add. For the past two days I have not seen the media server in my battery stats. This is a shot of what I saw this evening. Which this is what I think my battery page should look like. I have not made any changes that would explain why it's not showing up. Any ideas or comments appreciated.

Not today, not sure about yesterday. This is not the only time it has not shown up for a few days. I also have not had any app updates. Dunno how to remove it (yet), but maybe it hitchhiked in on another app? I hate when app makers bundle other stuff in their apps but it happens on occasion.
EDIT: Ah, think I found out why you can't remove it. According to:
https://snoopwall.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201186946-Why-is-the-uninstall-button-greyed-out-
"SnoopWall needs to be an administrator of your device in order to block access to ports. This means that the administrator access needs to be removed before uninstalling. To do this you should go to security under settings and then click device administrators then uncheck SnoopWall. After this you should be able to uninstall SnoopWall just like any other app."
Mee too
I am having the same experience on a S4. Anyone figure out where this came from?
I don't have an entry under Application Manager for Snoopwall, nor does Titanium see it.

Same, I don't see any entry's at all. I'm pretty sure it piggy backed on another app.

After I flashed a custom ROM it went away, so I figured it was from Samsung

So I removed the notification then logged back into it and it popped up again
So its my backing app lol, basically telling me that I have root

SnoopWall Mystery
If you bank at a Credit Union and have Installed their APP. More than Likely it installed SnoopWall. Go to the APP and find the security setting and you can set them or turn SnoopWall off.
Somehow my maps app is running in the background and draining my battery. I checked greenify and it says the app is hibernated. What is going on? Thanks for your help.

Same thing happened to me. Couldn't force stop it either. After a reboot it was gone and the problem hasn't resurfaced.
Anyone know what causes this?
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
As per the SS it is mostly gps which can be activated by many apps.
Greenify to be honest is pretty useless lately and has been seen to cause more issues then anything.
I have the same issue with no known root cause. Once I use Google Maps, I have to turn location services off, close the app and reboot. That's the only thing that ensures the GPS isn't being used by the app (causing unnecessary battery drain). I have the app greenified as well, but doesn't help.
Anyone have some insight into why this happens n how to effectively stop it from happening other than reboot? Thank you kindly.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Anyone?
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Guess not. Maybe @SlimSnoopOS might be able to help but this is just a dumb situation. And I hate using Maps because I know it requires a reboot at the end..

Tap on settings, Data usage and then Data saver.. Turn it on and then tap on "Allow unrestricted data usage" then tap on the 3 little dots in the top right corner and select show system apps then go through the list and uncheck anything you don't want using a lot of data without permission.. Package disabler can also be used to disable an app entirely like the other poster said. I think turning on Data saver is better first though so you know what else is on.
This is for Android N by the way.

Thanks for the reply. I'm the other poster. The question I'm really trying to ask is, is that a true system app or is it some other app with a system app icon? That's why P.D.P. gives the option to uninstall. I don't think P.D.P. can uninstall a true system app.
