I have searched a few times for a resolution to this problem, but have been unable to find one that works. I have noticed that when the media server shows up under my battery stats screen I usually have an update waiting on play store.
Is there any way play store could be the cause?
In other posts I see people complaining of 10-20% battery consumption. Mine has hit up to ~70% battery consumption.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I'm running 4.3 stock firmware non rooted.

Turn your data off when you're not using it. But most likely it's an app causing a wakelock.

Turning off data did not help, but the cause you mentioned is probably correct.

Ok this may be a dead question, but something I would like to add. For the past two days I have not seen the media server in my battery stats. This is a shot of what I saw this evening. Which this is what I think my battery page should look like. I have not made any changes that would explain why it's not showing up. Any ideas or comments appreciated.

Not today, not sure about yesterday. This is not the only time it has not shown up for a few days. I also have not had any app updates. I think it's like bilgerryan stated that something is causing a wake lock but I close out apps when I finish. And usually use avg task killer to kill most running tasks.

I'm getting horrible battery life. Did a clean flash of ff02 right after it was leaked. 100% to 4% in 4hrs25mins. Anybody else getting this? I use it pretty heavily but it's still under 3hrs screen on with brightness at minimum.

Using data uses a lot of battery too. How much data were you using when this happened? If you turn airplane mode on you'll likely get 6 hours of screen time.
Also, try removing bloatware. There's like 6 sns apps running in the background.
You don't by chance use the official Facebook app do you? That can get into a state where it will never allow the phone to sleep and will be constantly using %25 cpu.

not sure what rom ur running..but if its compatible with kobridge's batt tweaks, u should def check it out. I jumped on ff02 on venum's boa rom with the sf tweak and battery life is awweessooome!! and super fast!
Airplane mode would defeat the purpose of having a phone wouldn't it. I do use the Facebook app. I uninstalled it and will see if that helps.

All of them. I don't use Facebook or hardly anything that syncs often but removing sns apps made my battery better. Unsure of what appd to uninstall? Flash Calks bare from converter.

if you are rooted, check out this thread. it could answer some of your battery hogging problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1977223&highlight=battery+life
Before you root, try this:
Go into your settings and go into Location Services. Uncheck all 3. You WILL see your battery life improve big time. What really drains your battery is most likely you syncing a lot of accounts and you having location services turned on whereas then google maps constantly tries to get your location, thus you have partial wakelock waking your phone even when screen is off. Now try to see what accounts can you do without much syncing such as Facebook, gmails, etc. These 2 are 2 of the most basic battery drainers known.
And of course the above is also right, media scanning kills..but you'll need to root to solve that problem.
I don't need to debloat! I use AOSP LOL!

Hello;
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 running Jelly Bean 4.1.2
Problem:
Sometimes my WiFi turns itself on, i turn it off and stare at the screen couple seconds later it turns itself on without me touching the phone.
When at home and the WiFi is turned off it says "Connected to VirginMedia (my WiFi)" and makes my signal cut out (Internet signal E.G H+).
Its highly annoying, ive tried changing things in the WiFi advanced settings and the mobile data settings and it still continues to do this.
I have done the *#0011# and gone to WiFi and turned power saving move off and no change :\
I havent updated anything recently and its only just occured
Please someone help !

Amigo, "Sprint Connections Optimizer" is a system utility that Sprint jams in to their stock ROMs. You cannot remove it, all you can do is turn it off. I believe via Network Setting somewhere.
The theory behind the utility is that it checks what internet connections are available and picks the quickest one....the reality is that it wastes battery and does a terrible job at optimizing anything,
Oh okay, ive seen videos for the s3 etc its simply untick it but the Note 2 doesn't have that option I cant find it anywhere :/

I've been trying to figure out wtf was going on with my n5 as well and its very recent. instagram chomps up to about 25% of my battery. needs to stop.!!!
Latest version of Instagram is using 100% CPU (25% if quad-core) be it foreground or background.
The only way to resolve this is to swipe the app away in recent after using.
Wow
What app is that?
