Has any one got any info on the 64gb version and UK release? Ideally i want the 64gb as that + 200gb SD would be the ideal phone for my lossless music.
HTC just say "Info coming soon" in their reply to me.
However, I can get 20% off the HTC 10 32gb in the UK but only if i order this month. I dont want to hold out for the 64gb and it never materialise! Any thoughts ?
This is what HTC replied with "only the 32gb version is available for pre-order, details on the 64gb version will be available later ^CD"
Better tell HTC Denmark
Apparently only going to the US cos the Nordic regions don't show enough interest.
I've just come back from Denmark - Copenhagen - lovely place to visit, really enjoyed Tivoli & lovely friendly people
Back on topic, so it looks like the 64gb isn't available in certain countries, however it IS listed as a variant available in the UK (on the HTC site) - however no information about the release date. This is so frustrating, do i buy a 32gb now or wait for a 64gb which may not ever materialise. I wish they could just say "No 64gb in UK" or "Yes the 64gb will 100% be available on x date"
Just my 2 cents here. I certainly understand wanting to know if and WHEN the 64GB will be available.. If the phone had no external memory capabilities i think that would be a much bigger issue than it currently is. We can theoretically put a 2 TB micro SD card into this puppy. I am not worried in the slightest about how big my internal memory is. especially considering we are supposed to be able to merge both the external and internal and make it look like one giant drive space.
All of that being said, if I was presented a choice of 32 or 64, I will always take the 64 just cuz, you know....size. Unless the 64 was a really ugly color or something.
Again just my $.02
(I honestly don't remember looking to see what size my phone will be when it gets here. ) Now my curiosity is roused...
Have a groovy day!
Its nice you use a new card as internal memory in this phone. I went wit the 128gb Samsung pro+ one since it offers writing spends up to 90mb not just the reading speed which is great. the 200gb are not too bad but I couldn't find one with that great of writing speeds. (sansdisk plus had 88mb/s read but only 18mb/s writing) With the new 4k recording and stuff, I want the faster writing speeds I could get, sacrificed a bit of space for a huge speed increase.
I hearde 64gb was only going to be in uk and other select places, the US wont even get it
FWIW, I tested a gunmetal grey 10 with 64g internal on Verizon, but I don't believe that is the hardware that will be released stateside. (The test hardware was slightly different than what I anticipate will be released as the "10".)

Wait a sec. Are you saying you tested an HTC 10 that won't even be released in the U.S. on the Verizon network? That would lead me to believe the unlocked/unbranded version should work on the Verizon network as well. What, if anything, did you have to do to get Verizon to authorize the phone?

It was a prerelease test version of the handset and all I did was plug my SIM into it. Note that prerelease test hardware usually has software that is not in the final release version (and a heck of a lot of test and logging software). On the other hand, there is frequently enough in there to help the devs get started.....not that I had anything to do with it, I assure you. I signed an NDA.
In another thread here (I think here, perhaps elsewhere) someone said that plugging a Verizon SIM into an unlocked device will not secure connectivity. Given all the talk (elsewhere here) about how S-OFF appears to be integrally linked to data encryption and data access, it shouldn't be a surprise that a test device can work "everywhere." I have seen test devices that are already S-OFF with limited root (not accessible to the user) and superCID.
Which is another reason why test devices are collected from testers, not sold to them, much to my chagrin, obviously.

Dangit! Yea, I had read in several places about a tester popping in a SIM and it not working. I was hoping your information contradicted that, but apparently not. Having said that, with bootloader unlock available on the unlocked phone via HTC DEV (I think), it would seem logical that we could install the necessary mods to make it work on Verizon. But I'm getting way off topic and will end there. Thanks for the info! :good:

Besides the size, is there really any advantage over the 32GB version now that we can integrate the micro sd card. Especially if you get a high speed read/write micro sd card.
Is it primarily for video recording, read/writing speed ?
Just about to purchase one from Taiwan.

I saw somewhere around here, a user that tested the speeds and was the same thing except the size 64/32, so no advantage except the size

No, not really, I am just a firm believer that you can never have "enough" storage space. 64 is always better than 32.
Wait, I must have a signature somewhere on this sdcard....

But, iv'e seen the 6.5.3 (?) on many videos and stuff, will it be available for my phone (Samsung Omnia Lite)? And in that case, when?
not neccessarily true. i read that samsungs newest phones, which I dont think are even out yet, come with 6.5 but are designed with all the hardware buttons and specs to be upgradable to 7.

No.. it has announced that the HD2 is NOT going to be updates to WP7, due to the lack of a physical camera button and 5 instead of 3 front facing buttons..
There is no phone currently on the market that will get an upgrade to WP7. It is possible that some new models released between now and the release of WP7 might - but I would say it's unlikely. For example, any phone that can take a removal memory card definitely won't.
I heard the HTC Touch Diamond will receive an update to WP7 because it comes with internal memory instead of SD card slot! There's already a dump of the TD WP7 ROM leaked by a guy from China.

6.5 upgrade to 7 on HD2?
hey guys,
so in which place can i see that windows said they will not upgrade the HD2? i do not have one yet but TMO has a buy one get one free deal down here in Orange county, ca USA if you sing up atleast 4 lines, i want to port my family over to TMO from ATT because ATT stinks as far as phone selections is concerend. however i am concerned about the 7 upgrade, i really do not want to get stuck with TMO for 2 years and be limited phone wise, if thats the case i will just stick with ATT and the iphone(which i am sick of)... 7 looks so much nicer than 6.5, i had an X1 running 6.5 for most of 2009, so i am kind of over 6.5(i hacked the hell out of that X1 before it finally took a dump on me)... let me know what you guys think, i know another option is to purchase the sony X10 which works on all 3G networks but i dont have 600$ to drop on that.. anyway, thanks for your help guys.
Every phone will get a upgrade if someone hacks it in but, it's questionable on how it will all play out. Microsoft might just send "the letter" if hacking wp7 comes out and then no one gets to play unless you buy a new phone.
After all, I just want WP7 on my Titan

There is zero chance that anyone will "hack it in" on anything less powerful than an HD2.
the leaked wp7 made by dell has lower specifications than hd2 (less ram ,smaller screen and no flash ) so why hd2 will not get the update to wp7 ,no one say to me because of the micro sd card , the new dell has one ,and also has same graphics chip so no one also tell me that there is no image scaler on hd2

First, it's a leaked early roadmap, not an actual device. Assuming the leak is recent and accurate, it could and probably will easily change. Second, the Dell device's MicroSD card could be embedded in the device and not user accessible. This would meet Microsoft's requirements while the HD2 does not. FInally, the buttons on the HD2 do not meet the requirements for WP7. Yes, it's somewhat superficial but Microsoft will not support a device out there that doesn't match and does not fit their design requirements. The Dell device appears to meet the MS requirements. The only one that is questionable is the MicroSD card but that could easily be embedded which MS has stated is OK.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/google/8848669/Android-upgrade-for-Google-Nexus-S-in-weeks.html
So Google has announced that the Nexus One will not be getting ICS as it is simply not powerful enough. As the Nexus One is basically the same as our Desire, there goes any hope of an official update.
Question now is, once ICS goes AOSP, is it going to work? Without the N1, we will be lacking some necessary drivers, won't we?
Not good news. I know N1 owners and Android commentators all thought the N1 was going to get it.
Another reason to ditch Desire for good.
didnt they say any device running gingerbread would be able to get IC? i'm confused.
Old hardware, Low internal memory. Is it possible to run on the Desire/Nexus one, but they do not want ot make it. Period.
There was never any hope of an official update.
Desire was never going to get an update, but Nexus One was always in the grey area...
I guess they can easily say hardware requirements are holding it back - it will run GB - but maybe it hasnt got the internal storage for ICS to run effectively... devs can probably span it onto EXT on SDCARD but of course Google won't want to do that...
Its probably a case of 'it can.... but probably not as well as they like.'
I smell hypocrisy here. First they say that any device capable of running 2.3 will be able to get ICS, but ask them to port to a device with a different chipset to their other flagship phones, and suddenly it's simply 'too old'. And I bet they'll continue to moan that handset makers and carriers don't update devices enough.

The problem is not the SoC, but the LOW internal memory. They just don't want to take out apps and shrink the size of their "original" build to fit a smaller system partition.

the nexus one has in total 145 MB in /system
the ICS sdk system image is 170 MB (without google apps, wallpapers and ringtones)
so
1) it doesn't fit in the n1
2) probably it will slow down a bit the n1, and that its not acceptable for the average users (that after the ota will have no chance to go back)
3) marketing purpose..maybe about time to buy a new phone, as the very small internal memory (like our desire) was an epic fail and its going to complicate everything for the average user that have no more free space
this explain why google will not update it (atm )
cyanogen will do soon when the source come out
With the speed the devs have been churning out roms lately if they put the ics rom out for the desire by the time my contract is up I shall stick with my desire and just swap sims.

I find it amusing that the moaners knew the Desire failed miserably with internal space compared to iPhone 3GS and Galaxy, and yet they bought it
So is this the final nail in the coffin for Desire?
The final nail would be when most devs (read all true devs) left. But yeah, Desire is with one leg in grave.
Hardly - the amount of development still going on for the Desire is phenomenal compared to some much newer phones. Probably the easily unlockable bootloader has a lot to do with that (take note, handset makers...)
Right now I (and probably a lot of people here) am running Android 2.3.7 - the most recent version of Android on the market. This means that our Desire is more up to date than the most up to date phone you can buy in a store right now. How is that "one leg in the grave" (btw the expression is one foot in the grave)
I am sure Cyanogen & team will come up with CM9 for the Desire based on ICS. None of us can yet say how it will run, but I would bet my bottom dollar that it is coming.
Personally, I have another year to go on my contract with the Desire. I expect to be running ICS quite happily for the duration of that year, and during that time, I'm sure that my phone's OS will be more up to date than all of the people I know around me with an Android phone.
Then, when my contract is up, I will get a phone that has satisfies the following conditions:
*Rootable
*Unlockable S-Off-able bootloader
*Micro SD slot
*SIM-unlockable
*Plenty of internal memory
Then I will have the equivalent of my Desire, just with new hardware specs. And it will be awesome.
I never expected any official support for that ICS ROM anyway, on the N1 nor the Desire.
but, i'm sure that upon Source code arrival, it would be adjusted to work on the desire.
I also never expected the desire for the ICS even. With that exeprience from gingerbread tells me not to expect for another wave of OS upgrade. And that is how i rooted my phone and install custom ROM (CM7.1) to it. I never imagined the power of this phone since i rooted it. It gives myself a feeling of having a new and powerful phone again after a year of constant hard reset due to memory issues. I know the CMs and other Devs are already reasearching to port another upgrade to the desire and a big thanks to them for continuously searching and developing.
I hope that the speculative nature of this question does not irk anyone. I do not expect a definitive answer nor am I under the illusion I am entitled to anything from the dev community.
That said, I am in the position of buying either an M919 or 9505G. I only want to buy the former if I feel relatively confident that a total conversion to GPe will become available someday. (I don't want to buy the latter because I dislike the white only color option. )
Also please notice that my speculative question is IF, not WHEN. I don't mind waiting, even months, as long as I suspect it will be possible eventually. If you happen to have a strong speculative opinion one way or another if this will even happen (i.e. based on similar previous experiences with other phones), please feel free to post it. From every other phone I've ever had, the roadblocks currently preventing the total conversion seem somewhat unique, and I wonder if they are surmountable by our community or not. Hopefully some time in the near future I can contribute directly to such problems myself, but need to start learning a few basics first.
Thanks!
Million dollar question right now.

I have a M919 but would to see it converted over as well. It is my understanding that the hardware is identical for both devices. I think eventually we will see a total conversion but it will take a while.
A TMobile employee at one of their stores told me they will be going away from black on the S4 just like they did on the S3 so don't wait too long. I was told that since most people use cases that hide the phone color anyway it didn't matter.
Sent from my SGH-M919
we can't, not right now, the problem is the partitioning. we cant resize the partitions on the M919, well atleast Not yet. until then, there will be no 100% conversion. There is a group of devs working on it already, the problem they are having is with the PIT files.
as mentioned, the answer to the question isn't clear.
the only difference between an i9505g and an m919 flashed with a GPE rom is that the former will have more internal storage, and it will get OTA updates. realistically, neither points are significant - the difference in storage is a couple gigs, and OTA updates aren't frequent at all. if the release of android 4.3 is any indicator, it looks like GPE roms will actually be getting updates just as fast/faster than a true i9505g. imo, if you want a black GPE S4, you should just pick up an m919 and flash a GPE rom
however, if you want a true i9505g in black, there are other ways to get it. black oem replacement glass can be found online for around $20, and replacement back covers can be found for around $10. replacing the front glass isn't exactly a stress free procedure though...

For OP. Just get the international Model, the m919 T-Mobile Variant is the most expensive of all carriers and if there is something I hate T-Mobile for, it's the lack of urgency when it comes to updating their dam Phones, besides the heavy prices they stamp on them.

Happy, but I'm still irked about this reversal, since one of the reasons, but not primary reason, that I returned my AT&T GN4 was the difficulty in getting write permission to SD Card
That was your choice... I always recommend that people buy a phone for what it can do NOW, not what it might do later...
Who knows when AT&T will even release that version for the phone. If samsung releases it in December, it could still be July before AT&T gets done testing /modifying /approving.
Nice! This makes me so happy. I can live without root I think but it has been annoying realizing that only certain apps work with writing to the SD card.

Why?
There's so much to love about the phone as it is, then when root comes it will just be that much better :good:
I got this phone mostly because the hardware specs were top notch and my old Zenfone 2 (Z00A) had amazing CM support and even an official bootloader unlock. The ZS570KL still has yet to get so much as a root. Going from CM to the bloated, ugly stock ROM hasn't been fun and I can't wait to get something better. I've prodded ASUS for info on a bootloader unlock and they have basically just said that they can't comment on a release date, or if it's even coming at all.
Is there any active development for this phone or is it just dead?
it's active, but what you see here, is all answered questions that we ask already, so there isn't much we can do , until we get from asus. And then alert every develop out there to start making custom roms for this phone.
I think many people like myself are waiting on the bootloader unlock before buying. If they are going to release it, it better be soon. Else they risk newer phones coming out that trump the specs of this phone that ARE developer friendly. This ship had almost sailed to be honest. What are they waiting for?

Yeah, I'm almost regretting buying it to be honest. I really expected it to be popular in the dev community especially given ASUS' history and that bootloader unlocks are already available for the non deluxe ZF3 and even the ZS550KL. The LG V20, the other phone I was heavily considering waiting for, came out almost a month after this phone already has some ROMs coming out.
This phone has amazing specs and design but is just let down so much by terrible firmware and a completely dead dev community. It's a shame.
Your absolutely correct. Such a shame that a beast of a phone goes quietly in the night. It would've been such an upgrade from my Nexus 6P.
My wild guess is that Asus will release our unlock around April-June when phones are starting to come out with the next snapdragon chipset and 6gig ram is all over the market. At that time, the qualities that make this special will be gone. I don't understand this logic at all.
I really like this phone but all the ways Asus tried to kill its success boggles my mind. The lack of an official bootloader when all their other models have one is just another nail in the coffin of an otherwise really good phone. I thought Asus had learned their lesson... guess not.
The 3 biggest reasons for failure in the dev community:
1. No Bootloader (yet)
2. Price
3. Availability
Its dumbfounding. Such a beautiful phone with amazing specs and Asus care absolutely zero about marketing this phone outside Asia. I had to buy it online because they decided not sell it in Canada. And even online the availability is limited to Taiwan only with every reseller getting it from there in short supply. I don't even think there is a north american model. Why not have faith in your brand? Asus said they didn't think the deluxe would do well in north america with all the competition so they abandoned it. They also thought the phone would not sell because its too expensive but then realized demand for it exceeded the supply and decided to increase production.

Seems like a surefire recipe for failure to me....
I have the SD821 versian, I had to pay through the teeth to get it then when it gets shown to others thet all want to know where to get it and how much it cost. Word of mouth is a great way to do business but the product MUST be available.
I had the subforum tab open to check up on this later, but I'm updating some software right now and noticed this post title... I still have the phone unopened in the box Amazon shipped it in. I guess this is Asus' loss releasing a phone during the only extended return period of the year. I've read a few negatives on the ZF3 Deluxe like low headphone volume and intermittent Bluetooth, but unlocking is what I want.
Since I have until the end of next month to return it to Amazon I figured I would pick up the OnePlus 3T and give it a try - free 15 day return period. I thought, what the heck - I paid more for the ZF3 so why not get the 128GB 3T? Added it to my cart and on the checkout page it gave an estimated date (was within 9 days). I wanted to see what I said the ETA would be on the 64GB model that was listed as shipping within 3 weeks and removed the 128GB model. Went to add the 128GB model back in less than a minute after checking the 64GB model...sold out and it's been like for the last 2 weeks. Talk about frustrating! I ended up ordering the 64GB model and figure I can just send it back to OnePlus when the 128GB's are back in but I'm afraid they still won't be available to order at the end of January. So here is this ZF3 D I don't think I really want. :/
jsheradin, you said the bootloader is unlocked for the other ZF3 models - any idea why not this version of the Deluxe?
If it made any sense, there would be no doubt Asus wanted the ZF3 to fail.

Yep, the unlock is available for everything but the 820 and 821 variants. I assume it's simply that these processors require a little more work to make an unlock utility for, but I'm just guessing at that point.

Actually, the Deluxe 5.5" (ZS550kl) screen has an SD820 and it has the bootloader unlock app. It's just the 5.7" ones that don't.

On Asus site it is said that the zs550kl as a Qualcomm s625 so be careful with what you write...

It does not. The ZS550KL has a single version and it is a snapdragon 625. It has the same processor as the non deluxe ZF3 (Z3520KL) which came out before the deluxes. They probably already made the unlock for the non deluxe and it required very little work to make it work for the 5.5 deluxe. The 820/821 versions did not have that luck and they likely have to make the unlock from scratch.
Hey, I agree with all on this thread. I have the Zen 2 deluxe SE with Cyangenmod and its a great phone. Purchased the Zen 3 but have yet to use it because I cannot root. I also read that Cyangenmod is no longer offering custom ROM or am I not understanding their changes? Does this mean the chances of a custom rom for Zen 3 is out? I also upgraded my wife's phone (S5) to the same Zen 3 deluxe (ZS570KL / 256gb hd / 6gb ram / 821 chip) and she hates it... calls keep dropping signal is low and it does not even say LTE. I did a speedtest comparison betwen her Zen 3 and my Zen 2 and it was faster. Hers is also disconnecting from cellular (AT&T) data and does not show 4G anymore along with no push notifications of emails.
Anyone else having these issues?
Joining in on the bandwagon to vent (really)... This was my # 1 phone to get in 2016, despite the lack of Quad HD screen (especially for the price), but Asus botched it BIG TIME! The price on the SD821 model, even more frustrating, the lack of availability, even during the holiday season, and of course, now announcing their new 2017 models, with no unlocked BLs or Root... what an opportunity missed! Would have been such a strong jab against the 3T, but they ruined it!
I bugged Asus again via email and received this response, again:
"Temporary we haven't got the accurate time the unlock tool would be released for this ZS570KL.
But we will transfer customers' wishes to the related department for further development.
Also please note that ASUS does not actually asssit with unlocking of the Android Bootloader. I must advise that you do so at your own risk, as once the boot loader is unloked it will void your warranty."
I'm just hoping there is an unofficial unlock at this point. The stock ROM seems to somehow get more buggy and slow day by day. Is anyone else having issues with the screen taking forever to turn on after using fingerprint/pressing the side button?

I used this form to submit it: https://vip.asus.com/VIP2/Services/QuestionForm/TechQuery?lang=en-us
I just said, "When can the bootloader unlock utility be expected to be released?"
They responded promptly yet disappointingly. Hopefully if enough of people ask they will finally get around to making/releasing it.
Does anybody know if there is unofficial unlock work being done?
If an unlock is ever made we just need to get someone who knows TWRP to build a recovery and ideally somebody from Lineage OS to start ROM support. I've built TWRP before for a different device and may be able to do the same for this phone but I wouldn't know where to begin to get a ROM working. I feel like no devs even know this device exists. :crying:

The biggest question we should all ask ourselves... "Why did ASUS build this phone in the first place if they didn't have a bootloader unlocker for it?"
