Hi,
Usually I just check XDA forums, play with my phone around but I never post or start topics, so this is a first cause I am kinda clueless.
I have my HTC one M8 now for like a week, completely love the phone however since yesterday it got stuck in headphone mode.
The following things I tried: Hard reset, Back-up to previous date, Blowing compressed air, carefully cleaning with 95% alcohol while phone was turned off, Inserting regular phones like 7 times while screen was unlocked, currently using soundabout app to divert the problem... Nothing helped.
The only thing I didn't try is actually rooting the phone however I am not sure if ill have any warranty left then.
Any other ideas perhaps?

if its an hardware problem i'm not sure there's much u can do, accept trying to clean the headphones jack
if its a software bug maybe try:
-connecting your headphones then turn boomsound on\off then disconnect them.
- hard rest while the headphones are connected then disconnect them.
-before u try a root u can just try a factory rest and u will still have your warranty and if that doesn't work its definitely a hardware issue.

You're not alone, having the same problem and no solution. The most annoying part about it is that I have to use speaker mode to be able to hear/talk during a phone call. Went to the shop and they said they will order another aux jack for me.. not very happy

I too find myself stuck in Headphone mode. I don't use headphones and not sure what prompted it. I pulled it out of my pocket after work and found it like that. Restarts and Factory Resets don't do a thing.
When I borrowed a pair of headphones, upon plugging them in my phone starts to dial the last person I called all by itself.
Was hoping to hear how your situation worked out. Verizon said I'm covered by the manufacturing warranty and that HTC will ship me a phone to replace this one. I forgot to ask and am extremely worried I'm going to get a refurbished phone that's already had other issues.
Kinda disappointing on an otherwise awesome phone!

This is a quick fix for you guys and gals. Download the App SoundAbout. It gives you the option to control where the media, phone call etc sound comes threw. Choose speaker for Media and problem solved. Hope this helps you guys out. This website have helped me out alot and I am just trying to do my part to return the favor.
Has anyone figured this out without having to install an App to fix this issue?
same problem...
I'm having the same problem and also go through Verizon yes you will get a refurbished phone. I'm pissy cuz I just paid $700 and now I'm gonna get a used phone. That's Bull****. I'm sick of these companies just taking advantage of us. Also that soundabout app did not work for mine anyways.

Had the same issue and resolved it by applying a small amount of rubbing alcohol on the tip of a Q tip and twisting it in the headphone jack. You will have to remove a little of the cotton to get it to fit. There is a small censor in the headphone jack the registers that the headphones are in. Dirt from your pocket and lent get inside the hole and confuses the phone into thinking that headphones are still plugged in. Do it a few times and then blow into the hole hard to force the dirt and lent out. Best is if you have a can of air for keyboards.
I did it like three times and blew the hole and haven't had a problem since. It isn't a software issue but a small hardware issue. This is the only fix for this problem. If you want you can take it into your carrier and they will do the same for you, well at lease try.
HTC sent me an M8 to replace my M7 that they weren't able to repair. It intermittently has this headset problem - the icon appears and sounds get routed to a non-existent headset. Factory reset doesn't seem to help. It's just back from repair and it seems the same. I asked for a replacement as the phone is pretty much new, but they said it needs to go in for repair again! Needless to say, I'm tiring of this as it's been 2 months since I've had a reliable phone!
The only workaround that seems to work is to carry a set of headphones in my pocket and to briefly insert them when it goes into headset mode. That usually clears it, but it can appear again within minutes. I'm hoping the repair centre can fix it this time.
How to fix HTC One M8 headset icon
Ok so straight off this isn't a hardware fix. I tried cotton buds, paper clips, compressed air etc etc etc.
What does work is this - Install this, or a similar App from Play Store (SoundAbout Pro).
The App allows you to manually configure what means the phone will use for sound such as calls, media etc. Mine took effect after a reboot.
The troublesome icon will remain but the sound, and ability to make/receive calls will return.
Hope his is of use to some of you.
Solution here
Hi folks, I just had this problem and I know the feels.
Now you don't have to worry, the solution is this:
Try using your radio built-in application over and over again. Doing this will make your mobile to search recursively for a headphone/headset signal. Since there is no headphone actually plugged in, your mobile will eventually detect that in fact, this is true and will exit that obnoxious headset mode.
Hope this can help you all guys.
Pd. I'm not sure if I used English wrong, if that happens to be the case: sry for bad English. Lol.
Thanks that helped me by turning on/off the boomsound with the headphones in. I was in the middle of a phone call when my switched automatically by itself to headphones. It took me awhile to figure out what had happened.
I had this problem and I never used headphones. I turned off the boom sound (settings). I inserted the headphones and then shut down my phone, pulled out the headphones and turned on the phone - and it works!
I've had this tablet (SM-P600) for almost a year now & it has worked perfectly. Over the last week or so, the WiFi has been randomly turning on & off. Not just losing signal, but actually showing as off in the menus. As of this morning, wifi will not turn on at all. Just says "turning on" on the screen & sits. Never gets to the next screen showing all the open networks.
Everything is fully backed up so I went into recovery tonight. Did the full factory reset and wipe procedures. Tablet boots back like it is as supposed to, but wifi wont turn on when getting to that screen in the initial setup.
Tablet has been well cared in a case, not dropped, and not gotten wet. However I am still positive this is a hardware issue.
Any ideas for things I might try? Help!! Thx in advance
I've the same problem with my galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition SM-P605 :crying: Still haven't found solution
I am almost 100% certain this is some type of hardware problem. I tried flashing about 3 different ROM's and 3 different kernels, all of which successfully booted up. I finished by doing a 100% re-wipe (data & system included) & reinstalling a pure stock kernel and firmware. On every single revision, the words "turning on" would appear when clicking the WiFi option, but then it would get stuck. Message would eventually clear & I could continue using everything on the tablet . . . . . . . just no WiFi or Bluetooth functionality.
Final attempt was to gently remove the back cover. When lightly tapping around different points on the MoBo, the names of my local wireless networks would OCCASIONALLY appear. At one point they locked in & I really thought I had it. However, the whole thing disconnected again after a few minutes & I was back to square 1. :crying:
I never could figure out the perfect sweet spot to pinpoint the problem. My guess now is either a chip or ribbon cable that isn't seated properly, but I poked and pushed (gently!) on everything that was visible without removing any hardware other than just the back cover. Does anyone have a link to the layout of the motherboard that shows EXACTLY which piece is the WiFi/BT module? I did find an online disassembly tutorial with a random Google search, but for some reason they failed to identify this particular module.
Sorry for the long post, but I feel I am SO CLOSE to figuring this out once and for all. Just need a little more tech help to push across the goal line. Thanks!!

Sorry about that. It's just the initial release plain jane WiFi model. SM-P600
Update:
After a little more poking and prodding on the MoBo, I'm starting to see activity. Tablet will finally connect again, but will only hold the connection for 10-15 seconds and then drop back out. A few seconds later the cycle repeats.
I really wish I could find a good hi-res photo of the motherboard to help. HAS to be a simple loose connection, or maybe a not-so-good solder point somewhere???

never heard of 'em, is it a cheapo tablet? In my country there's a store of them (Allwinner 6.6" tablet with microSD slot, 2gb internal w/o bluetooth WIFI ONLY INTENDED FOR CASUAL GAMING, or should I call it kids only tablet, RM130 ($35))
That thing has a cheap plasticy housing, unneat design but has a pretty good performance (it plays dead trigger pretty well)

SM-P600 is Samsung's actual model number for the WiFi only version of the 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1. Most definitely NOT a cheapo tablet!! Although this wifi issue makes me wonder. I had the functionality back for about a day or so, and then it disappeared again. This has to be a simple case of a loose connector, but I sure can't find it. Ugh. Utterly frustrating.
oo...my bad
maybe software issue
This was sent from my Lenovo A850 via XDA mobile app.
What firmware version are you using because I am having the same issue. I manually updated to the september update (P600UEUCNI1) for the wifi version and started experiencing the same issue.
Same here. I think it's an issue with NII firmware.
*****PARTIAL solution*****
I have proven 100% that mine is problematic hardware . . . . . NOT software or kernel. For the time being my WiFi is back up & seemingly stable. I had to remove the back from the tablet for the fix. You have to be *extremely* careful, but it just snaps off with no screws. Lots of YouTube videos if you choose to attempt, but please don't say I didn't give you fair warning!
The reason I say partial solution is that I haven't pinpointed the exact location of the short. I am 99% sure it is somewhere on the extreme upper left hand corner as you face the front of the tablet. There are a couple of ribbon connectors in that area, and a few snap on type connectors that look like little motherboard chips. After gently poking & prodding the ribbons and disconnecting & reconnecting the snap connectors (being CAREFUL; I cannot stress this enough), my WiFi reappeared.
My final tip is to keep the screen on the page that shows the list of available networks. If you are having the same problem I was, this screen will just show "turning on" and nothing else for the WiFi. While poking around, I would occasionally see the list of networks pop up & then go back off. I finally hit whatever the magic spot is, and the networks held. Snapped the back cover on again, and I've been online for probably 4-5 days now without a single hiccup.
And before I get flamed, I know how dangerous it is to poke around with a powered, exposed tablet. There are probably certain points that could make connection and FRY the entire thing in an instant. I was just willing to take the risk as my tablet was useless without network capability. I had nothing to lose. I would recommend at least trying to poke & prod with the tablet OFF a few times to be safe, but I personally got tired of rebooting over & over & over & over. My luck sucks. With the tablet ON, I was at least able to monitor when something was happening.
Good luck if you attempt it!!

I bought my Note in March of this year, I started having the WiFi issue after the April firmware update. At first I would get the Connected to... message at random times, even though I had full signal strength. At the end of September, I started losing connection at random times and in the middle of October, I had to send it in to Best Buy's Geek Squad service to have them repair it. It is a hardware issue, as the no matter what firmware version I use, it will never connect to the router. I know it, Geek Squad is aware of it, as I have sent it in for repair twice so far. I would have to send it in a third time before they will think about replacing it with a new Note. I will admit, that before I updated it in May, I did root it, because I tried to remove the Business Week+ and New York Times apps, as I never used either one of them. I tried disabling them, only to have them reactivate and update themselves.
Damn, what I read here is not good news. My SM-P605's died yesterday.
With Tapatalk on my Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014)
Hardware issue for sure. Same problem with mine. Opened the back case, disconnected the upper right (as your looking at the screen) small ribbon, reconnected, and boom, perfect wifi once again!
The EZ Package Disabler app is fine for debloating rooted and non-rooted devices with Touchwiz roms. It uses Knox, so that mustn't be removed. The apps are still on the system partition, but are completely dead now. While other apps, especually for non-rooted devices kill the system apps during boit and try to prevent their restart. But during boot the whole stuff is active until the app kicks in, allowing the system apps to receive updates, communicate, spam free flash mem etc.
The app wirks the same way on my rooted P605 and unrooted S5. And gives a reason to buy Samsung stuff, unlike Touchwiz and its bloatware. As far as custom roms go, i found that of my old LG L9 much better. Even if the early roms were AOSP 4.0.4 based, then 4.1.3, they had already had the fresh & bright look & feel of the future Kitkat, and a few useful enhancements like an integrated backup tool, which was more simple, but for me as useful as TB.
As for the main problem here, i think using a case with a hardened backside, and not one if these with a big hole(though being better than nothing), prevents oroblens like battery, display and seemingly wifi connectors loosening. Or bad solder joints. The backplate of the note gives thru any pressure on the back, especially in the middle area. It then rests on the battery, metal shields, connectors and stuff. This seems to generate enough wear over time for problems. The same back plate on a much smaller device(my S5, but that has a subchassis covering the innards, too) would be much stiffer, and my 7" tablet has an aluminium unibody case, such trouble is unknown there.
Hi Gents..
same problem here... I used to own a SM-600 purchased in 2014 unfortunately I lost it... (the first tablet worked without any proble until I lost it...) than I managed to found the same modell brand new on amazon... it worked for 2 weeks and 2 days ago wifi died... but funny enough not straight away.... first couple time just switched off the wifi... I managed to switch simply back... next day it only worked if restarted the device... now factory reset nothing... If it is hardware related why worked 2 weeks witout any problem? If it is software related why not working after software reset? Only installed a few apps from the store.. the device did not overheated or physically damaged...
I have the exact same problem.
Since I bought this a long time ago, I have to pay for the repair. I just want to know if it is worth it. How much did it cost you (if you bothered)?
In my opinion it would be foolish to spend a dime to repair a 4 year old tablet. If the battery is original, it may well be near the end of its useful life as well. FWIW, I bought this tablet used about 8 months ago and have not experienced this wifi problem.
It's still so well equipped, that you can't simply replace with a modern entry level or midline tablet, but with a top of the line one, so a repair is well an option.
I just don't have a clue about the SoCs performance level. To which current ones it would equal and where things get better. I can only compare it to my similarly(Snapdragon 801) equipped phone and my cheap 7" tablet's quad core Mediatek SoC, and that is considerably worse, though being three years newer.
So I've been researching for a while on which watch to get that can do fitness stuff as well as be a smart watch. I decided to get the moto 360 yesterday because it was only 150$ and there was good reviews about it.
I got it home and started the setup, which was like pulling teeth! Absolutely a pain in the [language removed], half the stuff want working, it keep resetting and unconnecting, it went through 2 updates, and finally it was done, I started messing with it around 5, and by the time I looked it was midnight! So I charged it all night, and woke up about 8, 100% battery, through it on to go do my morning run, and realized it won't work with my note 4 s health, or my fitness pal which are the 2 I use.... Ughhh so I downloaded another fitness app, and said OK Google start a run... Nothing! Instead had to pull it out and open fit, and the other health app run something... I forgot what it was... During my run tried to check my heart rate... Doesn't work! Try to check my mph... Doesn't work.... Say OK Google send a text... Offline... Basically I wasted my entire workout messing with it and it wasn't even fun! So I get to work at noon... And look at my battery, 7%! R u serious! It dies like 5 minutes later! So 3 hrs of unless use and now I have a paperweight on my wrist! I hate it! Any recommendations or other options would be greatly appreciated..... Maybe I should get gear s? Apple watch? Urbane? Sw3? Please help.... I'd like a smart watch and fitness all in one that at least functions.... Sorry for venting! I've never been so disappointed and frustrated! Thanks! I'm also interested in facer, I downloaded it but there's only a few face watches.... I really want to like this watch!
I've had my 360 since last October and love it, I use Strava and cycle 40 mins+ a day then an additional 1 hour+ running a few times a week. I find the battery to last a whole day just fine but if I've been messing with it loads and the battery is looking low I stick it on the charger for 20 mins or so when I get home and that gives it more than enough for a run and then to see it through till bed time.
As for the "offline" I usually get this if I'm out the front of my house trying to start a run and the Phone and watch are struggling with connecting to the WiFi. Once I'm clear of the Wifi (on GMS), or have a good WiFi (close to the house) it's fine.
I bought the watch because I love gadgets, but it's now my everyday watch and love it. I'd stick with it for at least a week or so before you sack it off.

I just got one two days ago too. I was getting terrible battery life my first 24 hours. Even when charging it would lose battery. When I got it I set it up I then realized it wasn't on the latest Wear version so I upgraded to the latest version. I decided maybe upgrading after setup was causing some of the terrible battery life so I did a factory reset, set it back up, and it's working much better.
As for running I installed map my run which is supposed to work pretty well with android wear. I haven't tried it yet as I just ran with only the step counter this morning. I also wanted something to sync my steps into myfitnesspal. After some research I read the Jawbone Up app works with Android Wear and will sync to MFP. Problem is the latest version from three days ago broke it with Wear (based on the comments and my experience). So I found this version http://www.1mobile.com/up-by-jawbone-2526126.html which is a little old but seems to work.
Hope some of this helps...

Battery life will suck when you first start, syncing apps and so on. Give it a couple days. I use UP! for step tracking and I use Run Keeper for my runs. One thing I have noticed is that GPS being on for Run Keeper does hurt the battery (instead of 3%-4% an hour about 6% to 8%). As for the heart rate I have found that trying to take it on demand while I am sweating fails about 80% of the time. I had an app on for awhile that would check my heart rate like every 15 min and then store the average over the hour and that seemed to work, however the battery drain was not worth the data I was getting.
When i try to start the watch, it seems to get to the watch face, but when i hit the settings, it seems to shutdown, and the only thing i can do is put back on the cradle. If i leave on the cradle it seems to work fine. What i don't understand is i have two of the same watch one black one silver, and the silver works flawless. I am wondering if i have to clear cache, or how do i collect a log of whats happening. I've tried factory reset. uninstalling aw app, nothing seems to work. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks
I am getting same thing for last couple updates. Don't even use watch anymore Cuz it just shuts off randomly. Tried clearing everything and reinstalling, etc. No luck so far.
Same thing here, but mine shuts down during my run when I listen music off of it, around 75-80% battery, but works fine when I use it normally, without connected Bluetooth headphones
I've been getting random shutdowns for the last few months.
Sometimes I feel like it's triggered by lots of vibrating on the watch, but no correlation to battery level, most of the time it's in the 60% percentage.
I've done a factory reset and deleted and uninstalled and reinstalled android wear on the phone several times, and it always fixes it temporarily...
Sounds epidemic.
How hard was it to get a replacement?
Anybody able to find a fix? TIA
Same problem. At first I figured it was a but that came with an update and would get fixed on the next one. I stopped wearing it for a while. Now, months later, still doing it.
I got the 360 the first day it was available. I'm thinking that I'm probably out of warranty now. Should have placed a complaint when it first happened.
Has anyone found a resolution?

My experience is nearly identical to yours. Bought my Moto 360 on release day, it started having problems about 9 months shutting down. I factory reset, removed apps, eventually upgraded to a different phone, all the problems continued.
When I finally called Moto support, my warranty had expired, but they told me for $100 they'd replace it. I did that and just got my replacement, and I must say it's Awesome. I forgot what it was like to have a smart watch that lasts 18 hours and never shuts down regardless of how much I use it!
So, $100... you can buy a new or refurb Moto 360 for that online, so maybe it's not worth it. It's still a great smart watch IMO though. At this point I feel no need to upgrade to 2nd gen.
For the defects, this appears to be a widespread problem for Moto 360 1st gen. Best of luck to you.
still any solution
Did anyone find solution to this?
I've the same problem. In fact, it won't restart until I put if back in the cradle. On top of that, I no longer get any messaging/email notifications.
Well, about 16 months in to my replacement and it started happening again... OG Moto 360, just like the original. I suppose it's time to upgrade. Still, 16 months for $100 outdated technology smart watch worn every day isn't terrible.
I had the same issue, would randomly shut down and whenever I tried to open an app or settings it would just die. It was the battery, i found a replacement battery on ebay for around $25 replaced it and now it's working as expected.

Wow, seriously?! I just looked, and sure enough the batteries are all over eBay. How difficult was it to replace?
not too hard to replace... Check out the instructions on YouTube... Took me about 15 minutes
My watch has entered a weird state. Probably after an update but I haven't noticed anything.
While off charger, it just tries to restart all the time. The screen is black and every 10 seconds it does once or twice a short vibration. In one case I noticed it went further with the boot up sequence and occasionally I can see bootloader / fastboot there (dark screen, small colorful text, debug info). This is happening until the battery dies off.
When I put it on charger, it usually starts booting up. It often goes up to the "Installing apps 1 of 20" screen. Very often it restarts itself during this phase but sometimes it goes beyond that and the watch actually starts. I can see the charging indicator and change it colors with swipe.
If removed from the charger, it immediately dies
What's weird that after a while, the charging indicator disappears and is replaced with the actual Android Wear interface I can interact with. I tried to go to settings and hit reset, but it just restarts the watch. Doesn't do the reset.
Usually the longer the watch sits in the charger, the worse the behavior is (ie it's just constantly restarting after a while). I get the best results when I let the battery die and then put it on the charger.
Also the watch is really really warm the whole time.
To me it seems like a software problem. If it was a phone, I'd just invoke factory reset somehow, over the cable or through boot menu. Is there a trick how to do it with the watch as well? Are there any stores with required equipment? I really don't want to send it back.
Same here mate, did you eventually solve it?? How? I really don't want to return it..

I did not. I used my warranty and sent it back to Motorola. I have a new watch now.
I understand that you don't want to return it. The process was extremely long, painful and annoying. They decided that I'm entitled to get a new watch pretty quickly and sent me a coupon for a new one. I never got that coupon. I spent lots of time calling Motorola trying to find out what was going on and it took a couple of weeks before they found where the mistake was. When they finally sent me the coupon, it was only for the base watch, it did not cover the metal band and the special bezel that my original watch had. So more calls and e-mails to Motorola followed...
Anyway, I know this is the last thing you want to hear but the sooner you accept that your watch is just broken, the sooner you'll get a new one I wish you more luck than I had.

You're right, not what I wanted to read... I turned it off now, with the silly hope to wake up tomorrow and see it working again. While leaving it on the charger it became way too warm.
The worst is that this is my wife's watch, and she is even less patient than I am
Damn
Hello,
I have the almost the same issue. Last Friday my watch died randomly when I walked home from work. The screen went black, flashed a bit in different colors and then died. Haven't been able to turn it on since. When I try to charge it, it keeps getting stuck in a reboot loop. I can't do nothing...super annoying. It's been 10 months for me since I bought it but I guess that's out of these "6 months warranty" that then give. Crazy, only 6 months!
Same issue
