I'm doing some comparison between M8 and 10, starting apps, scrolling, loading webpages.. maybe for 30-45 minutes. Now HTC 10 feels hot, and the M8 is just a bit warm to the touch. I checked the temperature with CPU-Z. It's 40,5 degrees Celsius for HTC 10 and 36,5 degrees Celsius for HTC M8.
Other HTC 10 owners feeling that the device gets really hot with normal usage?
Here is my take its the same kind of frame and material overall, If the M8 got to 36.5, I would not see it unreasonable for a faster processor that has more heat to dispense to get 4 degrees warmer.

Warm... However the M9, now that got Hot, as did the M8 when optimising apps..
Due to the design of these devices the heat is much more noticable than most devices, an all metal uni-body that is essentially a big heatsinc, better it be noticable and dispersed than contained
This truly is an outstanding piece of tech

congratulations on the new phone Lee. I'll be joining you in a couple months when the price settles down
Same issue with my new HTC 10.
Mine seems too heat up while charging. It seems to get hotter if I leave it on certain surfaces, my leather couch for example it gets so hot I can barely pick the phone up but if I leave it on my worktop it's fine :/
From just surfing the web htc 10 warms up to about 40°c ? also in just 5 minutes of use the battery goes down by 3/5%, do you think I bought a faulty htc or is this just normal? (only bought this yesterday)

Nope. That's typical. I will say that after updating to 1.80 from 1.53 mine has been operating cooler under some load conditions.

It's been over a month since I got my beautiful One X. It's been flawless(except the battery life, of course)
About 2 days back while caressing my phone in my hand during a movie, I felt a slight 'bump' on the back, right above the HTC logo. It is not easily visible - but surely there.
GSMArena also had this bump on their 360-degree spin model.

Is it widespread, or a serious issue? should I ask for a replacement from HTC?
Mine has it too, didn't even notice
let's hope it's not a foamy LiPo battery
as far as i know every device has this bump. but its nothing wrong with it.

Oh! you absolutely sure? do you have a carrier-branded device?
Also, is your phone the global quad-core version, or the LTE/dual core one?
__
If the bump doesn't exist on brand new phones, can it be a result of the frequently-heating Tegra processor on a regularly used device? I've received a warning once from my battery widget, which said battery temp above ideal temperature.
I personally feel this can be risky business due to the fact that puffed up batteries aren't exactly safe
No bump on my EU model, totaly flat, but it's 5 days old.
Yes i'm sure, totally flat ... but can't take photo to show you now.
I don't know what mean "carrier-branded" phone but mine is branded ( SFR in France )
and there is no brand "tag" on case ( stock case ) if that was what you mean ...
My serial number is HT23NWxxxxxx if it can help identifying a faulty serie ...
mines totally flat too. unbranded uk
Noticed it today, too

mine has a very slight bump on my htc one x white european version, i think this is normal part of the manufacturing process, its ever so slight and you can only detect it atcertain angles and your fingers have to be very sensitive to feel it,
not a big deal,
Bump
mine has a minor bump, its been like two weeks i bought it.. i am worried cuz i don't have any warranty with it.. I infact googled it they sent me to this thread.. anyhooo glad to find out that many of us having the bump and by reading all the comments it seems like the bump increases with the time so its because of the heat the cpu plus gpu generates..
had to stop gaming like crazy on it
Hello guys.
I'v rooted my Phone and switching between rom sens 4.1.2 and cm10. But that's not the case.
I know that the hox can be hot some times. But i want to know how hot it can be?
Was playing a game and my Phone got to 46c°
Is it too hot?
Reagards zardox!
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
The only hotter thing than the HOX is my girlfriend, bro.
Normally 46° is nothing for a piece of hardware, on its camera side there is a bit of overheat while using in games etc, but normally it won't get hot, just a bit warm.
Did you use a stock kernel for sense 4.1.2 and cm10? If yes, you shouln't worry about your smartphone getting to hot.
I've gotten my HoX over 55 degrees C, without problems. Though.. When I reach that heat, I often stop playing games, since my fingers will get hurt quickly by then.
It wont matter that much, just make sure it won't happen 24/7
will changing ROM or maybe flashing Custom ROm fix heating ? mine spiked up to 48-50c earlier while playing dragon slayer
I had my htc one x go upto 49c. If u are using a case for ur hox I would suggest u to remove it when u feel ur phones getting too hot, this might help.
Prolonged high temperature might not damage ur phone but will reduce ur battery life cycle.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
At 48 c is when the "overheat" green/red notification while charging starts, however most phone batteries are rated for ~60 c.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
you guys do know that 50~55c is actually the temperature of the battery right? The actual temperature of the processor can go beyond 75c. System Tuner can detect the CPU temperature.

I got tab s few days ago. Its pretty amazing. Its rooted now and i got a 128gb sd in it the only thing is that I notice after some walking dead game it heats up pretty good on the top side of the back.
Anyone else got this problem?
It's not problem. That's where the GPU sits. This tablet is the thinnest on the market next to the Sony Xperia Z. You're going to expect some heat when playing graphic intensive games.
Expect it to heat up. The CPU/GPU needs to power a bright 2560x1600 display anyway.

Ok. Thanks
Same here, I've been trying to stress test my tablet to make sure it's not defective and noticed the same thing with the same game. I'm not too worried but keeping an eye out for warping swelling. So far so good.
Sent from my SM-T800 using XDA Free mobile app
If it's warm to the touch, it's should be fine. If it's hot and uncomfortable to hold then there's something wrong. It's been reported that some of these are defective.
To be fair Apple iPad can get pretty warm over long usages. Not hot but much warmer then my Tab S.
Try and track down the culprit, it's usually samsung.index.service that gets stuck indexing files on the sdcard, and can peg the cpu for days.
Use Gsam battery monitor, or a cpu task manager to keep an eye on various processes. You can use the included process manager in developer options to see what process is using all the CPU.
After playing gunner z

I read in somewhere S7 have nits over 800
so what about HTC 10 ?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
I believe HTC 10 has a pretty low 377. It's the one thing I dislike about the phone. Anything less than 500 is just not good enough for phones these days.
really !! is it 377 ?
is it enough or less for the phones ?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
377 is fine for most indoor uses. Still, it just seems ridiculously low. That's about equal to my G4 at 70% brightness. I like my display bright.
The 6P is 337 and the G5 is 354. It's fine.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
The LG G5 is supposed to hit upwards of 800 nits.
I do say "supposed to" . A few reviews claim it's somewhat dim while others say extremely bright.
I just hope the maximum brightness on the HTC 10 is at least as bright as my G4 at 75% - 80%.

Then there's the fact that the S7/S7E have an undefeatable power save mode which when it kicks in basically halves the brightness (and drops CPU clockspeeds) which also affects how the battery life tests playout vs the HTC 10.
I would expect the 10 to have around 400nits brightness, that's a little lower than what the M9 had. Certainly more than enough.

Strange.
According to these reviews:
http://www.alphr.com/htc-10/1003202...rtphone-return-to-form-but-still-not-the-best
http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/mobile-phones/1404600/htc-10-vs-lg-g5-which-is-best
Display maximum brightness is 449 nits (or cd/m^2). If it doesn't have brightness boost on direct sunlight like Samsung or LG, I will be disappointed.
No idea if those guys even know how to set max brightness. Lol.
I've tested both S7, S7 edge and M8 side by side. S7 edge is brighter than the S7 quite obviously, and FAR brighter than the M8. Which is brighter than the M9.
I'll test next to the HTC 10 soon, but I HIGHLY doubt it would be lower than M8.

I heard that OP3 is good at Heat management. My previous phone was MotoG. This is the first time I am using an all-metal phone. As you can understand, I am not used to.
So, I would like to know if this is normal. OP3 has wide array of temperature sensors and I don't know which one corresponds to the body (some are specified though).
I haven't rooted or even unlocked the bootloader. I did an OTA update to 3.1.2.

Oh.. I only use WhatsApp and chrome.
But most of the heating issue is when I use camera, do benchmarks and game.
Bro, if you're playing a game while using the dash charger you should expect such temperatures, it's normal. And yes, I'm using a LG G2 too and it gets damn hot unplugged, I never use my phone while it's charging.
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
I do experience similar temperatures after using camera and sometimes games.
I suppose it's due to the ambient temperature. Because at night it stays cool.
I suppose it's due to the all aluminum body!
Compared to a MotoG2 and guess what.. OP3 is cooler.
Battery 36C (G2) 31C(OP3)
pm 37C and 36C
My phone gets very hot if I use it while charging (Chrome browsing, Facebook app). 46-48C. Is this normal?
Ignoring the temp count, both the back and front becomes toooo got for my arm that I can't touch it for more than 1-2 seconds.

my phone got hot on stock, and much cooler on custom rom,
i just did a cpu stress test for 5 min and reached 60 celsius. running antutu was only around 40 celsius with a 150k score
Can anyone provide a legend to the thermal sensors In CPU-Z.
For me, some Tsens_tz_* have hit 90degC mark while quite_therm has hit a max of 46.
But I think it's far better. But sometimes, it gets warm in hand for no reason.
I'm experiencing the same problem with heat. Perhaps it's because this is the first time I'm using a phone with an aluminium/metal casing, but it feels like it gets warm quickly.
Even under light use, some web browsing, instagram etc it becomes noticeably warmer. It's infuriating as it feels like if you were to do some really intensive work it would heat up like hell.

My old phone got 70-80 while charging.. that was a lowend one. This beast stays within 60 degrees while charging. The aluminium conducts heat. It feels warmer there is nothing to worry about..
