How hot can the htc one x be? - HTC One X

Hello guys.
I'v rooted my Phone and switching between rom sens 4.1.2 and cm10. But that's not the case.
I know that the hox can be hot some times. But i want to know how hot it can be?
Was playing a game and my Phone got to 46c°
Is it too hot?
Reagards zardox!

The only hotter thing than the HOX is my girlfriend, bro.
Normally 46° is nothing for a piece of hardware, on its camera side there is a bit of overheat while using in games etc, but normally it won't get hot, just a bit warm.
Did you use a stock kernel for sense 4.1.2 and cm10? If yes, you shouln't worry about your smartphone getting to hot.

I've gotten my HoX over 55 degrees C, without problems. Though.. When I reach that heat, I often stop playing games, since my fingers will get hurt quickly by then.
It wont matter that much, just make sure it won't happen 24/7

will changing ROM or maybe flashing Custom ROm fix heating ? mine spiked up to 48-50c earlier while playing dragon slayer

I had my htc one x go upto 49c. If u are using a case for ur hox I would suggest u to remove it when u feel ur phones getting too hot, this might help.
Prolonged high temperature might not damage ur phone but will reduce ur battery life cycle.

At 48 c is when the "overheat" green/red notification while charging starts, however most phone batteries are rated for ~60 c.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

you guys do know that 50~55c is actually the temperature of the battery right? The actual temperature of the processor can go beyond 75c. System Tuner can detect the CPU temperature.

The widget with the android logo is System Tuner showing CPU temp while the one next to it is Battery Monitor Widget showing battery temp. This was taken after 10 minutes of Glowball

[Q] What the hell is this dip in my battery life?

So, at some point I turned off my phone and I -think- the sudden spike down in battery life is around that time.
Anyone got any explanations?

Mine has done that as well a couple of times. One time I had a charge of around 75%...rebooted my phone, and the battery was down to 15% percent.
Maybe it's just another bug we'll have to deal with until they come out with a fix.
thats strange mine doesnt have that much of a dip
every samsung product I have does this, gt 7, gt 10.1, droid charge, and this one. I don't recall my og droid, evo 4g or 3d doing this.
All phones show a dip when there is a battery pull while the phone is on....

Wasn't a pull, just a shutdown and reboot.

well if your phone was rebooted then that bald would have been reset because it displays monitors since last power-on.
there seems to be a bug where the cpu fails to underclock after a certain amount of usage and/or load. rebooting after intensive apps and/or before leaving the phone idle for extended periods of time seems to solve the problem for me. yes i get that too.

just press on top after you press battery usage on the screen that shows you the battery usage.

[Q] android OS

in the battery usage graph what does the android OS include? and i've noticed on this phone it takes up ALOT of battery, why is that? is there a way to "cool its jets"?
i dont know if this matters but im rooted and running the STARBURST ROM.
thanks for any and all info that you could give me
HAHA it's Android. Things that are required for Android to run. The way to fix it would be to buy a dumb phone without Android.
Im having this problem as well with cm7. Android OS being the top consumer killing by battery.
I have been having this problem for about a week now (stock ROM). This is after a full charge the night before and I took the screenshot in the morning.

You will always have high Android OS until you start using the phone. After a full day's use, it should read 20-25% if your setup is dialed in. It will show less with Rogue kernels. They have it masked somewhat

But the phone was down to 85% power just sitting overnight.
Is that normal? (Serious question, not being a smart-ass.)

Not for me it wasn't lol, way slower than stock, and i was out performing quadrant and linpack tests on stock.
Going down %15 overnight sounds typical. Are talking like 8-10 hours?
It"s "typical," but it is NOT what this device is capable of.
The Android OS usage is not supposed to happen. It's a bug, albeit an omnipresent and seemingly unkillable one. There is nothing you can do about it except reboot and hope it doesn't re-trigger.
Without triggering the bug, I was able to sleep for eight to ten hours and drop about 2% in that time frame. THAT is what this device is ACTUALLY capable of.

[Q] Is my battery runtime normal?

Hi everybody,
i'm running on Paranoid 3.6 und AK256 Kernel, and these are my battery stats.
Used the phone alot during the lectures today, tested this halo stuff (really don't like it).
But ~9h is just too little or?
System is just 2 weeks old, so pretty clean i think.

What's your on-screen time?
Sent from my Cyanogen-flavoured, AK-powered Galaxy Nexus
It was about 2.5 hours screen on time.
My stats for today are attached.
Screen on time is 3h 5min. The almost horizontal line at the beginning is in airplane mode but with wifi on.
Is this okay? It feels like that this is way too little runtime :/
Thanks a lot !
seems fine to me.
That's about average battery life for me. If I stand right in front of the wifi router + good 3G signal I can maybe get 3.5-4 hours screen on time. Else its usually about 3 hours on full wifi. Or 1-2.5 hours on full 3G or mix of 3g/wifi depending on the day and the brightness.
3hrs is my normal. Just go out n buy a separate charger and another battery or two (that's what I did) and u just have an extra battery on hand when u need it

Do I need a new battery?
Hi guys it's me again,
NOW I think my battery drains way too fast, I don't use my phone that often but I can't make it over one day!
Here are some screens, i know i've got 30 % left, but thats gone pretty soon
I'm running on Purity 5.7.1 (Android 4.2.2) and Fancy Kernel r36 extended version for quite a long time now.
Is my battery too old and damaged, should i purchase a new one?
Big thanks for any help !
Yeah, it's normal.
You're last longer then I do

anyone else has a bit of heat issue?

I got tab s few days ago. Its pretty amazing. Its rooted now and i got a 128gb sd in it the only thing is that I notice after some walking dead game it heats up pretty good on the top side of the back.
Anyone else got this problem?
It's not problem. That's where the GPU sits. This tablet is the thinnest on the market next to the Sony Xperia Z. You're going to expect some heat when playing graphic intensive games.
Expect it to heat up. The CPU/GPU needs to power a bright 2560x1600 display anyway.

Ok. Thanks
Same here, I've been trying to stress test my tablet to make sure it's not defective and noticed the same thing with the same game. I'm not too worried but keeping an eye out for warping swelling. So far so good.
Sent from my SM-T800 using XDA Free mobile app
If it's warm to the touch, it's should be fine. If it's hot and uncomfortable to hold then there's something wrong. It's been reported that some of these are defective.
To be fair Apple iPad can get pretty warm over long usages. Not hot but much warmer then my Tab S.
Try and track down the culprit, it's usually samsung.index.service that gets stuck indexing files on the sdcard, and can peg the cpu for days.
Use Gsam battery monitor, or a cpu task manager to keep an eye on various processes. You can use the included process manager in developer options to see what process is using all the CPU.

Strange, I've played Hearthstone the other day for about an hour, and no problems, but I see you have the LTE version , we have different chipsets and GPUs

What's normal battery Temp?

Hey Everyone was wondering what's the normal temperature for the battery? Here's a screenshot I took, I use the app called Devcheck great app by the way, great for getting all the Info you need about your phone.

that temp is good, nothing to worry, everything up to 37/38 without gaming is quite normal. it depends whether you use mobile network and a lot of browsing or so or not.everything starting from 38 and above should be only reached with gaming
No need to worry about temperatures on the phone. It's not like a desktop with variable cooling systems. If battery or CPU is getting hot, it'll throttle to lower temps and will turn off in extreme conditions. Having Android phones since the D1, I've never seen anyone fry their phone from excessive temperature.
IMO, monitoring temperature on phones is as useless as ram cleaners. Let the software do it's job.

What's the normal Temperature of the Battery?
Room temperature obviously!
Everything else i abnormal. Like when you activate the screen and use your phone. This uses energy and causes the battery to become warmer.
Using a LOT of energy like Recording 4k or playing a Game which uses up to 8W will increase battery temperature.
1. the 8W Electrical energy get turned into 99.9% thermal energy, the SoC is between battery and Display, facing the battery IIRC.
2. The Battery being used causes itself to heat up.
So what is the Limit? Around 45°C The phone starts throttling CPU clocks and GPU clocks way earlier. Around 38°C is the first one and around 41-42° he next one. But depending on your surround temperature (Jep, Texas Sun at noon and 35°C Outside temperature do not help....) your phonebattery will not get hotter than 48°C
Is this safe? Jup easily, the battery iself should be specced about 50-60°C Maximum usage temperature. Didn't really take a look at the details in the battery in the disassembly video^^
But as Richii already mentioned, your phone does this all on its own. Don't have to care at all
It's note a Note 7 ^^
