Password expires in 7 days - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Today, when I turn on my phone, it pops up a message saying that "The password expires in 7 days. Change your password now?" I never encountered this step. Is it a new security measure on Android 6 or LG smartphone. What is that? Thanks!

Pls see attached.

Possibly one of your email clients?

Never seen it, must be a 3rd party app or email client.

Could it be some malware or trojan?

This happens from time to time, and it's quite annoying, as i rely on this for business...i haven't received any emails from hotmail / live account for the past 2 days...yahoo is syncing fine...
thx, but is there anything that i can do?

you may find this thread of some use.
open sesame
i just attempted to access my live.com email account and was greated with this msg...it may or may not be related...
"We're doing some maintenance to improve the service. We apologize for getting in your way. Please try again in a few minutes. If it's been more than an hour, tell us you're still waiting."
thx again, but i didnt even get that message,it just said that it synced and i had no new emails, hopefully it is a fix that microsoft is working on. thx again
check your account settings. Sometimes the password is not saved or some setting is not what it should be. I encountered the same issue with yahoo. Am not familiar at all with account settings so it was easier for me to delete the account and create it again. Upon creation I had not issues.

[Q] override exchange pin/password policy

Has anyone come across a hack to override the exchange pin/password policy on the phone?
There is Lockpicker. However, it does not work with Froyo, unless installed before the update.

Thanks. Sadly I need it on 2.2
Do you need it for your email? I guess yes, there is a thread with a hacked email apk at nexus section.

The easiest way for me: dial *#*#7594#*#*, check the box and that's it. There is still remote administration, but the phone won't ask you for any password each time you turn the screen on

I tried that but nothing happened. Actually, when I try to dial that as soon as I type the last * it disappears, so I can't even "call" that.

Password keeps changing?

I need the appropriate admin to contact me on this one...
My password has changed without me changing it 4-5 times over the last 24 hours. I send the reset to my email, change it to something new, and it changes to something unknown to me an hour or so later. What is going on???

Why do you think your password keeps changing?
When you log in, try clicking "Remember me" - this will reset the login cookie and may fix the issue you are having.

No when I refresh it seems to time out which it has not before. When I log in using my prior password, it says it's wrong.
What times out? The page load?

Please provide a photo of the purchase documentation you got when you bought the phone.
Rebooting the phone is not that bad.....unless you also don't have the pincode or unlock pattern access..... makes me thinking the "wrong" way

Factory rest will reset password at the cost of the messages stored.
This isn't a cracking forum nor is it accepted here.

U never answered. The problem is which I've seen on a lot of forums is that there is a glitch somewhere in the HTC secure box feature.. I have text from my ex where I'm going thru a divorce that I just moved to my secure box to ensure I'm able to access them for my lawyer.. it never ask me to set a password, it just moved them.. but when I try to access them, now it ask for a password. Everyone is making and looking at this as a " password crack/hack" question, without realizing how many of ur are having the same exact issue.. doesn't sound like a hacking situation when u take all into consideration.. I really need those text back.. I can verify anything that I need to to prove that.. even if there's a website or # for HTC to call in reference to this would be helpful.. but again, it never prompted me to set up a password.. please help
i need to reset my secure box password asap

[Q] Possible to change forum timeout value?

Is it possible to change the timeout value for auto-logout from the XDA forums?
I looked through the Control Panel, but did not see it.

Thanks... I thought maybe I was just not seeing it.
Is there a systemwide option you can set? The timeout I experience seems extremely short... I think under 30 minutes.

That is true!
I took it as appearing to be online on the site to others. But the server will log you out after a certain amount of inactive time.

Thank you for the request to clarify. I am referring to the amount of time before the forums log you out, not the duration that you appear to be online on the site to others.
I would like it to keep me logged in for at least an hour, but not permanently logged in.
