[Q] override exchange pin/password policy - Desire General

Has anyone come across a hack to override the exchange pin/password policy on the phone?

There is Lockpicker. However, it does not work with Froyo, unless installed before the update.

Thanks. Sadly I need it on 2.2

Do you need it for your email? I guess yes, there is a thread with a hacked email apk at nexus section.

The easiest way for me: dial *#*#7594#*#*, check the box and that's it. There is still remote administration, but the phone won't ask you for any password each time you turn the screen on

What does that do? I tried it on mine, but I have a hacked mail.aol so nothing came up.

I tried that but nothing happened. Actually, when I try to dial that as soon as I type the last * it disappears, so I can't even "call" that.

[Q] "your account already bind a device!"

been using handcent and love it but i run into problems with it all the time. this time it is with the vip package. handcent will not let me login unless i am on the rom that i installed it on which is cm6. the message i get is that your account already bind a device! ive sent them an email asking if there is an easy way to unbind my account from my device but havent gotten a response yet. i was wondering if any of you have run into this problem and if you have found a workaround. thanks
Hi - I have run into the same problem on my Desire - did you get a reply from them on what to do if you get this message? I haven't changed phone but i have updated to a never version of DeFrost....
Switch to chompsms, it's almost the same thing. Also, handcent prevents your phone from sleeping, if you have the spare parts app and it will show you. Hope that helped.

Security flaw on SGS2?

So, recently I put a lock on my phone (PIN lock and Password lock) and for some reason, my girlfriend has been able to get pass all of them. At first I thought I was using something too easy, like my name or our anniversary, so later on I tried a more random one that there is no way she could have known, but she also got pass that as well.
Does anyone know if there is a security flaw in our phones that allows it to bypass the password locks? I know that if I use Handcent, the popup text would show, but if you try to exit it or anything, it will go back to the password screen.
A good reason for me not to buy this phone. Lol. Maybe someone can chime in. I know the att one has a flaw.

I know that the pattern locks on my HTC EVO often can be bypassed by swiping the wrong pattern. I've seen this happen on my SGS2 as well. I haven't used the PIN or password security but maybe they have a similar problem.
Nope, the security on the SGS2 after a couple tries prevents you from trying again for 30 seconds, but it does not let you login via Gmail after any number of attempted tries, which makes me wonder what would you do if you forgot your password...besides a master reset.
how about you just ask her how shes getting past it lol

I've seen a video about this on YouTube. I think if you press the home button while on the lockscreen it bypasses it. Check on YouTube and you'll find the video of a guy demonstrating this.

That works only when there is no password lock and you have to press the home button twice to bring up voice command. I tried it with password lock an it doesnt work.

Gmail login does not popup after any number of tries and I created the most random password (agmekt56) and unless she's psychic, there's no way she could have known.

The only way for her to be able to get through either your Password, Pattern or PIN code is either if she knows it or takes a screen shot of it. So unless there is some sort of flaw in your software there's no other way. I've been trying this all morning and you get the 30 second unlock, then some amount of minutes and eventually you will hard lock the phone.
I don't know, I'll try to get it out of her haha. Cause theres no way she can know cause I made the password as random as I can.
I can get into my phone without a PIN after I receive a text message. Maybe she's getting in that way?
I made a quick vid to show this problem: vimeo . com / 31067628 (remove spaces)

Do you have some sort of customization on your phone? because I have tried that as well and it did not unlock my phone at all. I sent two text from my Motorola Atrix to my Samsung Galaxy S II and the pin code was not bypassed at all. I tried it with each one individually Pattern, Pin, Password and none of them were bypassed by receiving an e-mail, text nor a missed call notification.
Figured it out!
Okay, so I figured it out. It's not a security flaw in the SGS2 itself, but more from handcent. When I get a text from handcent, it automatically pops up with the text message on my screen (quick text) and also unlock my screen. It is only supposed to unlock it when viewing the message, but after I reply to the message it should automatically relock my screen. But, this is not the case with the SGS2, when I get a text the message will pop up, but when I reply to it, it brings me to the unlock screen but when I swipe to unlock, it does not ask for the PIN/password.
So if any of you guys are using Handcent, I would turn the pop up feature off.

Forgot Password For Cell

Hello
I have a T-Mobile Galaxy S2 [NOT updated to ICS, still running on gingerbread]
last night I put a password or pin on the phone under the security section, but now I cannot remember it. I asked T-mobile if they could reset it, however, the only thing they offered to do was guide me through a factory reset, which I do not want to do.
Is there any way to retrieve the password/pin?
thanks
PS - Pls don't tell me to reset the phone, as i already have been given that option

Flash ics through odin...You won't lose any media. You will lose everything else though.
Or factory reset...those are your only options at this point. Unless you see a button on your local screen that says forgot password then you can enter your gmail. But other then that, not much anybody can do as far as i know

What are you afraid to lose?
If you can figure out which file is the security file and all that... I guess you can always flash/push a "stock" one to it, which should remove the password. This is only theoretical. I don't know which file it is either.

Usually you don't... its called being shady and might not be his phone or possibly a found or stolen device.
Most of us on here have our stuff backed up and a factory reset isn't a big deal. Now some of us don't have our apps backed up, but have our contacts and such backed up thru Google. Every time I see these threads they generally get shut down by a mod..

LOL Shady is what I was thinking right after I read it..
I got locked out of my phone because my son was playing with it. It's asking for google account. I put in the google account and password but still doesn't take it. Can I bypass the google and pin code without losing data?

I've never had a problem with stock email, I mainly use IMAP but have occasionally set pop. I did however have to go to my email provider settings and tick allow IMAP.
I have used K9 before which seemed OK, not sure how frequently it'll check though

If I'm honest it sounds like somewhere you're entering the wrong settings
I use the stock mail app for my work emails from without issue.
Thing is these pop servers are really sensitive to the ports you try to use and what type of encryption you use etc, get one wrong and it will fail
Have you got another working email client on a pc or something that you can literally just copy the settings from, ports, encryption and all?

Does it give any errors when connecting?
Password definitely correct? Normally greyed out otherwise so I guess there's a slight slight chance that that's wrong? Can you reset it and try again, just to be sure? Unless of course the password you're trying works elsewhere like Web mail etc

Tried it about 10 times and works fine on my server and windows mail, really don't understand what it can be.
Hi just done this again and seems to be working, but one more question where do i change the sound for email alerts ?
goto normal settings (not email settings)>sound>notification sound
i could swear the old mail app used to let it have a separate sound of its own though.. weird.

Disable AT&T Address Book

Hey Guys.
I just received my Optimus G Pro from the US. I have unlocked it and its working fine in the UK on EE. However when I open up contacts it keeps trying to load AT&T Address Book which is really annoying. I just press back and it goes back to the regular contacts menu, but is there any way of disabling it? I have managed to disable all of the other AT&T bloatware from the main application drawer. Any ideas?
Thanks.

I don't see an option to disable that. If I click on it it opens up and wants to sync. Long pressing does nothing and there are no check boxes to uncheck.

If you're rooted then you can always change the AAB.apk to AAB.bak with Root Browser (or any other root file explorer) and that'll disable it. I prefer this method to uninstalling just in case I need to do a software upgrade-it's easy enough to reverse without having to flash back to stock.

If rooted do not uninstall de AT&T adress book. It is tied with the stock contac app. And if you do like i did in the past with at&t phones you will not be able to open the stock contac app. Your phone will say Apk not found. And then you will have to download a contac app like go contacs. It is best to just disable it. Very clever at&t with theyre crap.

There are several options. The easiest thing is to make the root and then uninstall AT & T Address Book, all you do with Rom ToolBox. For the other applications. You just have to enter settings - Applications - All - Looking for the At & t and then: Force stop, turn off the notifications, delete the cache and then turn off. That's it!! It's that easy. If my information help you, just give clicking Thanks!
Other solution
I know this is an old post, but maybe someone know how can I remove the AT&T address book without rooting the device. Every time I'm on wifi or 3g and I open contacts this application opens first. It is extremely annoying. I just have an app from work which requires from device not too be rooted so I must find some other solution.
Thank you.
I never set mine up and it doesn't pop up. Maybe click through it without setting it up? There must be a way to do it because I haven't used root to force any of my AT&T apps. There's also an att address book options under accounts and sync. Maybe you can use that to stop it.

Nothing works, those AT&T guys closed all the options I could think off. In accounts they doesn't have the option to stop it. BTW, I never set mine up as well. But every time I get into "contacts" it starts connection with the AT&T address book to give me instructions how to set it up. It is really, really annoying.
Thank you.
A little late, but...
On my LG G2, I cannot disable the AT&T address book, but I never see it or use it during normal use. The only time I see it is if I either look into the apps section (where it can be stopped, but cannot be disabled), or if I go into "Accounts and Sync", where is shows the accounts such as Google, Skype, etc. If I click on "AT&T Address Book" there, it opens and asks:
Do you want to sync this device with the contacts in your online AT&T Address Book?
I click on "No", and it says
Activate AT&T Address Book at a later date by simply selecting AT&T Address Book from the settings menu of your device address book.
I of course would never do that.
I found a menu yesterday with "hidden menus" app from the play store. Try dialing *#*#2666#*#* and setting "registration" to "completed". You might also tinker with those settings and see if it stops it.

Thank God for small favors (and good info) this is the only thing that worked for me. I used to root and uninstall it or flash a dif. Rom. But I wanted the updates I missed and the future ones, so I flashed back to stock and of course got the cursed "you cant stop me, haha" ATT address book!!!
